I meet with Shanti Pappas who is an independent nutritionist and has an office space located inside Arroyo and Shprtitz. I had told Shanti that I was experiencing jaw pain due to my TMJ, Shanti then asked Helanie (Dr. Shpritz) to see if she could help with my pain.
Helaine worked her fingers, relieved a lot of tension in my neck and jaw area. I have to say that right after the first appointment I can already feel a sense of relief. The next day for my follow up appointment, I was completely cured! I've been going to see Helaine ever since and I feel better and better, not only with my jaw but other areas as well!!
Definitley recomend this place!! -

Problems with your wrist, shoulder, back, or neck? Dr. Shpritz is your solution! I've been seeing Dr. Shpritz now for almost three years. In the time I've seen her, I've been able run one marathon, 4 or maybe 5 half marathons, and receive tons of advice about holistic life approaches. And I really need that since I have an immensely stressful workload, two lovable but crazy kittens, and huge expectations on myself to be physically fit.
I love my appointments with Dr. Shpritz, and she genuinely cares about all her patients and what they are going through in life. I actually wish I could give her 10 stars because she is really that awesome! Oh, and if you ever wake up in the morning with any sort of ache or pain, you can always call her office and she will find a way to put you in her schedule. -

I'm addicted to crack! Or adjustments as Dr. Shpritz would say. My body always feels so much better when I leave here. When I first showed up, my TMJ was so bad that I could barely open my mouth. I left being able to speak normally and eat something later that night. When my herniated disk reared its ugly self, I was well taken care of and back on the move in no time.
Hands down, I am a chiro convert and nobody gets to manipulate me except Helaine Shpritz! -

Dr. Shpritz is an intuitive magical healer! I received a life changing adjustment the other day that decrease my hip pain dramatically. As a performer/ dancer having the ability to dace without pain is immeasurable. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Shpritz- she is the BEST!

I have known both Drs here professionally and personally for over a decade now and can't say enough about their practice.
Helaine was there for me 4 years ago on the day that my back gave out for the first time. She lead me down a path to wellness that included a great orthopedic recommendation (Dr. Michael Sutro at CPMC) and a suggestion to begin Yoga. The pain I experienced throughout this time was always alleviated on my visits. And now yoga is part of my life.
From time to time I come back again and let her work her magic on me and it is the utmost relaxing experience. Their office is so calm, smells delicious (and natural) and the music just adds to the energy of healthfulness going on. Helaine is a true earth mother. She offers advice if you ask; anything from nutrition to holistic products.
I strongly recommend either Helaine or Chris; and if you don't like to be cracked (that's me) they have alternatives! Chiropractors are not just about cracking :-) -

Ever watch Eddie Izzard's Dressed To Kill? My only knowledge of chiropractic care came from that before going to see Dr. Shpritz. "C'mon, make that sound! Make... that... SOUND!!!" "I don't think my neck goes that way... cr-crick!"
Really though, I had hip and lower back pain from a knee injury - compensating for the injury made me walk funny. My physical therapist who was helping my knee move again suggested seeing a chiropractor. And 7 years of 14-hr days at the computer put a reverse curve in my neck with constant tightness I was ready to accept as irreversible damage. Dr. Shpritz suggested twice-weekly adjustments for a month, then less and less frequent visits afterwards. I was on a company health insurance plan, so I figured I'd give it a try.
You could explain to me over and over how chiropractic adjustments work, and I don't know if I'll ever understand fully, but what I do know is that after a month the neck stiffness started giving way, and after a few months my neck and back pain went from 100% of the time to 20% of the time - and a fraction of the intensity. I'd say now it's 10% of the time, and that's mostly when I'd slept funny and woke up with a sore neck or hadn't gotten off the laptop for a long stretch.
I don't have that cushy insurance plan anymore (use it if you've got it!), but I still go for maintenance. To me, it's actually preferable to a massage. -

I have seen Dr. Arroyo numerous times since a fall at bay to breakers...hmmm not sure how that one happened, but he is amazing. My friend got me the appointment with him after seeing that I could barley walk. After a few adjustments I was feeling better, and although I am still in a whole lot of pain, I am confident that I will be feeling better shortly.
The office on Sutter is very big and bright and complimented with a friendly staff and very accommodating schedule. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new chiropractor. Words cannot express how much better I am feeling. -

I should have review these amazing practitioners years ago, but life happens.
As everyone else's story here, I was having disturbing numbness and tingling in my feet and toes for months. I went to my regular Doc first and they did all the tests only to come up with nothing "wrong". I knew otherwise and found Dr A. purely by chance (looking through the list of doctors provided by my health insurance).
I was impressed right off the bat. Their office is bright and inviting, they adjust everyone in one common room so you never feel like it's a clinical type setting. Dr. A. Is incredibly professional and one of the nicest humans you will ever meet. He really cares about you as a person and takes time out of each session to get a current history of where you are pain wise and what's going on in your life.
He solved the issue of my numbness and tingling and even helped me with elbow and knee issues.
He is a genius.
Now that I am sans insurance I damn well miss those much needed adjustments!
I'll be back though! -

I have seen Dr. Arroyo 3 times in the past week and a few days and he's fantastic. I'm not going to compare to my other chiropractors, who I also loved, but I will say, he's very patient (ie doesn't interrupt me when I'm telling a story like the other chiropractor who didn't work out and referred me to him).
Dr. Arroyo feels around the muscles and bones for some time before making any adjustments. He gets to understand your spine and actually remembers the feel of your spine from one appointment to the next (without cheating with a chart). He seems to know what you need for your health and does it, no more no less. What more could you need?
The scheduling could be a bit more difficult for the regular 9-5ers, but not a problem for me in semi-employed land. -

Dr. Helaine Shpritz is a joy to visit and skillful practitioner. I recommend her highly. She's thorough, intuitive, and each adjustment leaves me feeling relieved of pain in my neck and mid back. And in some ways, my heart is lighter too.
The office itself is a lovely, calming environment, and I enjoy interacting with each person there. There's just a culture of warmth, efficiency, and the perfect tone of ease and focused customer service. (There's a real reason they won the award.) It doesn't hurt that Dr. Shpritz is wonderful and gentle to talk to about total self care and the relationship of life to our back and body.
If you are reading reviews, I'd suggest, just call and see them asap.
My story: I was in a car accident, (I was rear-ended by a cab) and left the experience with a classic case of whiplash. Helaine and her team, Eve, and earlier Amy, made it a seamless experience - working with adjustors. After the benefits run out, I still will be seeing her for ongoing adjustments and massage. It feels like an exhale to relieve and reset my spine into natural comfort. You deserve the same. -

I found myself suddenly crippled by a lower back injury sustained on Easter 2011, holding a yoga pose incorrectly. I was unable to go to work, care for my family...NOTHING and I was not able to plan ahead for this emergency so you can imagine the stress that compounded my injury........i was miserable :-(.
I immediately contacted Dr. Helaine Shpritz., who over the next 4 days was attentive, knowledgeable, professional, sympathetic, empathetic and I felt like my recovery and comfort was her personal mission! In addition to her adjustments/treatments her follow-up and after care is truly second to none! Dr. Shpritz has a unique way of explaining and educating her patients as she makes them better....... I'm not a knuckle dragging neanderthal thanks to Dr. Arroyo! I had to make a last minute appointment with Dr. Arroyo because of a very bad spasm in my back. He was able to adjust me quickly and I was back to work ever since. My wife and I have been going to regular adjustments for almost a year now and feel that our posture and pains have been subsiding. I would recommend the doctors to anyone in need of chiropractic treatment. Congrats on winning best of the bay!!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Shpritz on and off for two years. She and her staff have treated me like family since my first appointment. I went there for a problem with my lower back, and after my initial adjustments I felt great. I continue to go back for periodic "tuneups" when I feel like I need it. She takes time to get to know you personally, and has a sincere interest in your overall well being.
I have referred many friends and colleges to her practice, and will continue to do so. Plus, here office has a killer view of Downtown. -

Dr. Shpritz has helped heal several back injuries I've had, serious neck issues, wrist and elbow pain from too much computer, and even helped ease the pain of my plantar fasciatis. She's an incredible well of chiropractic healing and brings her own passion for natural, holistic good health to me as well as all the friends and co-workers I've recommended her to, who go and become fans of Dr. Shpritz. I see her consistently and find my entire body and mental outlook improve with each and every visit.

I've only known Helaine for 6 weeks, but she's one of my favorite people and I've already referred countless people to her. I can't stop talking about how comfortable, easy-going and effective I find her practice.
After a visit with Helaine, I feel better physically, but I also walk out feeling better about myself as a whole. Soon I'll be completely fixed up, and then I'll only see her ever 6 weeks or so, and I will miss our time together! -

I was skeptical
and a little scared
but was desperate.
Finally a combo of high-heel wearing, poor ergo set-up, and bad lifting form did me my lower back in. I went to a Chiroractor who will remain nameless, and she told me it was all EMOTIONAL...what's that? Really? Believe me I understand I have issues.... but this back pain was PHYSICAL...so was referred by my manager to Dr. Shpritz.
She is very kind and gentle. was great pointed out a few physical problems not emotional ( though I know I have those too) and then gave me some stretches to do and I do them regularly and my pain is almost completely gone! It only comes back when I am working to much (aka. sitting on my a** too many hours a day) and not doing my stretches.
I've had several adjustments but am now able to maintain my back health on my own -

She ended up making my neck worse.
She would adjust me when it wasn't necessary.
She used to email me to see if I'd like to come in, but once my insurance company made her fill out paperwork after every visit, she stopped contacting altogether.
She's a very nice lady though, hence the two stars. -

I am 25 and I initially saw Dr. Shpritz to alleviate my lower back pain. Upon initially walking into her office it felt very peaceful and serene which I appreciated having never been to a chiropractor before. Her positivity and wonderful personality drew me in but it has been her professional abilities which have kept me coming back each week. Each and every time I go to my appointments, I leave feeling stronger, more connected and supported, and generally healthier. I lack in the self-care department, but after seeing Helaine I have been invigorated to take care of my body and help it function as best as possible (which we all want, but the motivation to take action is the novelty here!) Dr. Shpritz is incredibly in tune with body mechanics and after I describe any pain or discomfort I feel, she takes the information and goes right at the issue. Having hurt my shoulder playing soccer, I had a lot of fear about my recovery. I called Helaine and she got me into her office right away. One of the most important qualities in any person working in the medical field, is to create a safe space for clients to get the help they need. Not once did Helaine ever tell me "ohh, that's pretty bad", or "you should have taken care of this a long time ago!". She is always so enthusiastic to tackle any issue head on and she has the positive belief that we could improve anything! And true to the way she approached my initial concerns, she got me feeling better than I knew I could! The trust I have in her abilities and the appreciation I have for her incredible attitude are reason enough to give chiropractic a whirl. Dr. Shpritz brings a way of supporting the human structure unlike your average chiropractor who gets you on the regimented crack schedule and has a relatively sterile approach and mode of manipulating clients. Rather, Helaine provides a whole and balanced approach to wellness which is unique to each patient and holds their physical experience in highest regard! If I could give Helaine 100 stars I would!

Dr. Shpritz offered the kind of service that seems to be lost in most chiropractic practices. i was treated like a person and not an inflamed joint. we had a meaningful dialog about what i have been doing in my body and how we could work together to heal and thrive. any doubts you have about chiropractic will be alleviated by her knowledge and more importantly genuine concern for your well being.

These two docs are the best. Easy-going atmosphere, holistic approach. Docs are fun, down-to-earth, progressive, and successful with all my pains and ongoing health. Highly recommend Dr. Shpritz during pregnancy--she keep me comfortable and made labor quicker the first time and brought on labor for an overdue baby the second time. They're the best!

I CANNOT stop recommending Dr. Shpritz to all my friends, family and co-workers. I don't know how I lived 22 years without chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Shpritz is super nice and knows her stuff...ok she is almost magical with her adjustments. I came in with severe back pain and numbness on the lower part of my head...yea sounds serious huh!?! After a month of adjustments 3 time a week I felt AMAZING. This experience was life-altering and I continue to get adjustments twice a month just as part of wellness. The office is super close to BART and easy to get to, staff is friendly, office is great. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I do not even know where to begin. I was referred to Dr. Shpritz 3 months ago because of back issues I have had for a long time. From the first time I walked into the office it has been the most wonderful experience. I look forward to every visit. Dr. Shpritz's professionalism and utter kindness to her clients is amazing. She explains everything she is doing to me and checks in with me regularly via email to make sure I am doing well. I am so thankful to have found such a wonderful chiropractor who loves what she does and truly takes care of her patients needs. My back has never been better!!

I always feel great when I leave Dr. Shpritz's office. Her adjustments are quick, painless, and always make me feel more centered. She's enjoyable to be around, she creates a relaxing atmosphere, and she's always flexible in regards to my extremely inflexible schedule.
I don't know who Joe S. is, but I have a hard time trusting anyone whose byline is "The Joesen One." Just sayin'. -

I haven't met Dr. Shpritz but Dr. Arroyo is quite possibly one of the coolest and nicest doctors I've ever come into contact with! Very helpful, caring, interested....He called me after I went in there for the first time to see how my back felt later that day! I've never heard of anyone doing that before. Always good music playing in the waiting room.

I have been adjusted by both Dr.'s Arroyo and Shpritz and they are both expectionally gentle, knowledgeable and compassionate...as people and as doctors. If you are nervous about your first adjustment these are the folks to see...if you are looking for a new chiro...again these are the people.

Dr. Shpritz is the best. I started seeing her this summer, heavily pregnant and with a very bad back. I could barely walk anymore and was 'putting up' with it for about two weeks and then I was referred by my midwife. Wow - she had me fixed up again right away and honestly made the end of my pregnancy so much better. Beyond the chiropractic stuff, she is a lovely person and I feel like I want to stay and have coffee with her for hours - just to chat.
THEN I had the baby and it turns out the little one was suffering from acid reflux. This is not a fun thing with a newborn - if you have not experienced it. I ended up taking my daughter to see Dr. Shpritz and she did some magic on her - no cracking, just gentle adjustments suitable for the baby. The baby loved it and her, by the way. She showed me a few techniques to do at home and the baby was so much better by that night and now is totally improved. I will keep taking her to see Dr. Shpritz in order to ensure good health in the future and no reflux for now.
I have referred many friends and colleagues to Dr. Shpritz and can only say that you won't be disappointed. I've been to many chiropractors over the years and she is the only one that has me leaving the office feeling better than when I walked in. -

I was a chiropractic virgin when I had my first visit with Dr. Shpritz. I was a skeptic and a baby too. That was last November. Now I go to Dr. Shpritz once or twice a week regularly because she helps me so much--with neck/shoulder issues as well as lower back issues. While I can't compare her to others in her field because she's my one and only, my husband certainly can and he loves her too. Her great spirit is just the cheery on top. I can't say enough about her.

The Arroyo and Shpritz Chiropractic office does not only offer a calming and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere; the quality of care, individualized advice, and bedside manner are unparalleled. I've seen chiropractors all my life, and I've moved around quite a bit, so I have come to accept the frustration that comes with "trying out" different chiropractors. Since I've moved to San Francisco, I have been through four or five chiropractors, a masseuse, a personal trainer, and throughout all that, I have been suffering continual and acute lower back pain. Finally, and thankfully, I found the lovely and beautiful Dr. Shpritz. She is one of those rare chiropractors who has suffered from back pain and thus understands the physical and emotional strain that back pain generates. In addition to her precise adjustments and manipulations, she offers excellent holistic, yet grounded, advice about back problems as well as emotional strains. She gets to know all of her patients, but not because that is "good practice." That is simply her nature. So, after a few weeks, I am finally feeling relief! I can exercise more often, and I feel 33 years old rather than 80 years old.

Seeing Dr. Shpritz for her chiropractic care is life changing. Her approach is all encompassing as she focuses on your unique issues. Its amazing because she seems to know where the problem spots are before I even say anything! After an adjustment I feel better right away. Not only is Dr. Shpritz a wonderful doctor because of her expertise and ability to heal, but she is truly an uplifting person and I always leave her office feeling better as a result.

I have been getting adjusted by Dr. Shpritz for more than a year and I am still amazed at how much it has helped my wellness! When i first started seeing her, I was extremely skeptical. But her gentle approach and straight-forward answers really eased me into the idea and now I have adjustments once or twice a week. My immune system has improved, and my migraines have lessened. While I didn't have any major injuries to deal with, I did have general "tightness" and that has also been helped with the adjustments. The office is calming and welcoming, unpretentious, and Dr. Shpritz is always a joy to be with. I'm so grateful I found her!
