I'm sad to report that Around the Corner is now closed. I don't know the details behind the closure but I do know that it has been in a perpetual state of almost-closed for the past month or two so this wasn't as big a surprise to me as it may have been to some of you out of the know. Their beer was tasty, their snacks quite snacktacular. The service, as is known all around the world was also very good.
RIP Around the Corner. You may be closed but in our hearts it will always be five o'clock. This final last call is dedicated to all the tired souls whose day you brightened, if only for a round of drinks and a half an hour. With the tables gone and the horns going around, I stand up and raise high a horn of ale and say loudly:
"This horn of memory I drink in honor of my Around the Corner, establishment on Franklin that is no longer and who sits now in Valhalla. I vow that I will grind its enemies foes under my heel."
