How disgusting is this place? Yesterday morning my husband and I stopped in to pick up some bread. We were heading to CT so he got an apple turnover and a sweet roll for the ride. We only made it to Nutley Avenue (and disgusting as it is, each took a bite), before we realized the bottoms of both were mold covered!! We turned around and took them back into the bakery, where two salesgirls really didn't give two craps that we had just ingested mold-covered pastry. I told them I hated to see what the bottoms of anything else in the place looked like. I guess one of the girls was going to try to prove me wrong, so with a pair of tong's, she started to turn over afew of the other pastries in the cases, and guess what???? They were all green mold on the bottom. I wanted to vomit. At this point, a woman came out from the back and quickly took the offending trays away (probably scraped the mold off the bottom and replaced them in the cases again). This place is disgusting. We have always bought our bread here when in a hurry, instead of going to our usual favorite bakery, Plaza, on Franklin Avenue. That's what we get for cheating. Will never return here again. In addition, the girls who work behind the counter aren't the smartest cookies in the jar, someone ought to tell that using their bare hands to handle customers pastries and bread is completely disgusting.

We always stop here for pastries on the way to family dinners. Everyone in my family enjoys them esp the chocolate volcano cake!! It's very popular so be prepared to wait on line a few minutes especially on weekends. They have a large variety of treats, maybe 25+ different pastries The workers are very friendly and helpful. People come here from all over the area, we always seem to bump into people we know here .

Very disappointed in this place. I walked into the bakery on a Saturday afternoon looking to get some bread for dinner and a few pastries for dessert. There were like 4 or 5 employees in there standing around. Every time I asked what was in a pastry, the counter person had to call someone over and ask them for the information. How about you just stay there for a minute? I have a few questions. Then they made up some ridiculous story about why they wouldn't use their bread slicer to cut up my bread. I was making bruschetta, give me a break. I need it sliced. It wasn't still warm, it wasn't a soft bread, it was just a loaf of bread. They just didn't want to dirty the bread slicing machine. I guess it was late in the afternoon, they had already cleaned it and made up several very lame excuses why they wouldn't slice my bread. I finally told them to just stop, sell me my pastry and bread and let me go. Never going back. You have like 5 employees swatting flies, how about a little service? I'm not asking you to bend over backwards for me, just give me normal service, and slice my bread. You are after all, a bakery. So disappointed in this place, especially since it's a 5 minute drive from my girlfriend's house. This WOULD have been my new "go to" bakery in the area, now I'll drive anywhere but that place. 1st impressions are everything, get some employees who know customer service or close your doors. Callandra's here I come.

I absolutely love this bakery! Excellent, authentic Italian pastries! Their bread is amazing. My parents have been going here for a while and never, ever complained about the quality of bread/pastries. Everytime I attend a family function, I go here to pick up some dessert. Recently I brought it over my friends moms house. She is an unreal cook and baker. She took a bite of their bread and had a cannoli for dessert and she was WOWED! She loved it and could not stop talking about it. She new the quality was true Italian. If you are in the area, I recommend checking it out. Next door is a great Italian restaurant that has superb pizza. On the otherside a cool cafe where old school Italians hang out and argue about soccer and politics. It's like being in Italy. :-)
