Aromas is a really nice place featuring cigars, music, drinks and insanely comfortable chairs to lounge around in.  They do a good job of being pretty posh without being too pretentious and you can definitely let loose and have a good time.

I expected the drinks to be good and they were [I think a dirty martini is a good test for a bar's standards].   What surprised me was the food!  Nothing too complicated, but a nice selection of upscale food.  We just wound up snacking on fries and an olive plate, but it was delicious.

They have live music here most night, as well as a more "club" room attached to the main area.  The best thing about the live music is that it never gets too loud and the room is arranged so you can watch the band or just hang with your friends.

All in all, Aroma's is one of those places whose greatness is versatility.  You could have a chill night, a romantic date, a wild night out with the girls... maybe even all three in one night! Why not? It's all up to you.

I had a great time at Aroma's!  If you enjoy a kick ass cigar and are a Mohito or Martini connoisseur who can be around smokers, I highly recommend this fun spot.  Really this is a great place to go after work, hang out with a good group of friends in some really comfortable chairs, share some great appetizers, listen to some live music, smoke a cigar and sample some amazingly unique drinks!

Not only is the cigar menu extensive, but the Martini and Mohito drink menu is quite diverse as well.  I have developed a taste for the Monte Cristo Mohito here during these warmer summer months. Mmmnnnn.... Very refreshing!

The tapas here are pretty standard fare, but that's not really why you come to a place like this is it?  Food is kind of a happy additive after some drinks, and a good smoke!

A pretty decent cigar bar that makes some great mojitos. -1 star for a mediocre-stocked humidor, and -1 for blasting music for no apparent reason.

Ok, it's Friday, you live on the Southside, you ain't got ish ta do and you want to go out but don't want to drive to the Beaches and the Globe is too hooched out for you...Where do you go?  Well, you can go to Jacksonville Ale House or to Aromas.
Aromas usually has a bit more of an older crowd like later 20s-30s versus the Ale House which is early 20's and more "frat" like.
Aromas is split into 2 sides...when you walk in the door the left has the cigar area with big chairs and the humidor.  This is where they have the small band and people just chillin'.  To the right is the bar, which is dark, but has nice mood lighting.  They make good drinks but they are a lil pricey at about $6-8 for "the good stuff".  Well drinks are a bit cheaper.
There's no dance floor and it can obviously get smokey; two negatives for me.
Back in the prowling days we'd hit up Aromas, but I never really had a great time there, but realize it's each to his/her own.  I think overall it's a decent spot for the late 20-30 crowd.  The beaches are way better for sheer numbers.

Very good (fresh) cigar selection, and knowledgeable cigar aficionados to help select & discuss, but bar, food, not great, & drinks cost a ton! Been there a few times, and if you go later on Fri, and weekends you might get some good live music.  Interesting crowd hangs out here, but when they do it's very crowded.  In the rear section is a closed off room for members only which is very nice place to hang out, relax, drink, and watch large screen TV.

It's strange enough that my first review is for a cigar bar whereas I'm not a cigar smoker. Wow, that's honesty .. I guess :)

I stopped by Aromas about two years ago when I relocated to Jax and it was pretty nice ... soothing ambiance, good selection, but I wasn't really blown away at the time.

I had some relatives come to town from overseas few weeks back.  As we were driving down southside on a beautiful Thursday night, for some reason, I noticed Aromas again .. so we stopped by.

Parking lot was almost full, but there was one spot open right outside the main door ... "waiting on us" ...

As you walk in, on the right side, you'll see higher round table tops w/ chairs with slightly younger & hip crowd hanging out tasting some of the fines wines in town.

The real magic happens when you step to the left ... When we walked in the place was almost packed. We grabbed two high chairs on the side and started with some apple martinis. Crowd was definitely little more "sophisticated" (a.k.a. older) and perhaps mellower then on the other side.

Even though majority of quests were enjoying their fine cigars smoke really wasn't that bad at all so my brain didn't swollen up (as it usually does in over smoked places).

After about 15 minutes two comfy, low, kick back chairs opened up ... we were ready for the show to begin.

At around 10:30pm some local band, whose name I knew for about 5 seconds after bartender told it to me, started tuning their gear. Soon after they were all in tune and ready to rock ...well they did their Hispanic version of rock which was surprisingly quite marvelous. 3 guitar players (1 Hispanic and 2 Amiks, FYI that's Americans) with 1 drummer. The Hispanic dude was ..... really ... Hispanic, I guess .. he sounded & looked like one, he must have really been. The 2 Amiks were good, but one was much much better than the other one. The much much better guy must have been studying or doing something in Mexico or somewhere south because his guitar playing was definitely not Amikan. At some point during their parade I really thought that the great C. Santana was on the floor ... so maybe you can imagine how good this really much much better one was. The other one was really just filling in for this guy and the real Hispanic.

Well, to bring this to conclusion since it's getting late and some people actually have to work in the mornin ... let me recommend this Aromas place to you all. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you say about the much much better guy once you hear him out.
