Arno's Main Street Grill is consistently, reassuringly good.
They have great breakfast food, served until 2 PM, and a lot of healthy menu options. We started with the hummus plate, which was tasty. The hummus had an unusual flavor, but it was quite good. I had the house salad with a salmon filet and it was fine.
Their severs are professionals and it's just a nice, pleasant place to eat. -

Have been to Arnos twice when other super popular breakfast spots had crazy wait times.
Arnos, I apologize for not giving you enough credit. Food is standard and good. Its nice to finally have a waitress that is older than 20 and without attitude. So refreshing to have someone professional and friendly and able to handle volume on this island. You know what I mean? Your wallet won't feel violated either.
I'm making this a destination instead of a default.
Thanks for being you, Arnos. -

Arno's is my absolute favorite place on Nantucket and that says a lot because there are a lot of fabulous places in Nantucket! Of course the food is incredible: lobster bisque, fish tacos, the crunchy french toast, the bagelwich, etc., etc.! But it's the entire experience at Arno's that makes it 5 stars: Jordan the bartender ROCKS! Attentive, great suggestions on the menu, makes you feel at home and pleasant all the time! The chef, Chris makes amazing food but also very accomodating, if you want something that is not on the menu and he has time, he will do it. And lastly, great location in the middle of town - it was our meeting spot every day before we planned the rest of the day. Love it here!

On my week long trip to Nantucket I've been for both breakfast and dinner, both were fantastic meals. The atmosphere/decor of the place is great, and all their staff are very professional and friendly, as well as knowledgable of the food they're serving you.
Definitely check out the place for breakfast, the wild berry pancake they had on special was fresh and delicious, and the "award winning" french toast is great too. -

My review of Arno's may be a little skewed, as we were the only people in the restaurant when eating there but the experience was great. We had brunch at the restaurant mid-morning on a Tuesday. Like any good restaurant which serves breakfast, they keep those eggs cooking until 2pm.
Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. The exposed brick and large modern artwork gave it a lot of charm. We also got a sunny spot in the front window.
Our waitress was friendly, prompt and had a very relaxed air about her. The food was good. We only had breakfast. The breakfast sandwiches were great and came with the most delicious homefries which were more like mini waffle fries. The french toast is a must! - Takes just like they made french toast out of a coconut donut. And to make it brunch we got a little lobster bisque. The flavor was great but definitely could have used a little more lobster. The food was maybe a little overpriced for breakfast, but the lunch and dinner menu prices seemed very reasonable. I'd definitely give it another whirl. -

Arno's was the best meal that we had on Nantucket. GF and I were there to photograph a wedding and the couple invited us to dinner with them afterward. So the four of us went to Arno's for a little celebration.
The service was prompt, the wait wasn't too bad-- we had a drink at the bar before being seated. The food was pretty good-- the truffle fries were fabulous-- and it didn't seem too, too overpriced. (Dinner for 4 and drinks all around (a few times) for under $200) We had a good meal, and then closed the place down.
We pedaled home in the rain, with full, happy bellies. -

After more than a dozen years on Nantucket, we finally had breakfast at Arno's Grill. I went for the famous french toast and my husband got a nice big omelet with tons of veggies and cheese. Portions are very generous, flavor was good- a little dry, but that is personal preference. Service was friendly and attentive. This is a good option when Fog Island is too busy, but overall would choose Fog Island for breakfast. Nice bar set up, will try again in the evening.

I was last at Arno's in May 2007. I eat here at least once on every trip I take to Nantucket. If Arno's has changed management I cannot venture to guess if the food / wine / service would have suffered - if it has suffered that would be a pity because each time I have been there I have wanted to come back.
I have been lucky enough to get to travel to Nantucket for business at least 2x per year (usually in the fall) since 2004.
This usually means a few things: 1) the island is not swelled with tourists, 2) I get to eat and stay at some swanky places not on my dime.
I first went to Arno's during Nantucket's version of Restaurant week in 2005. I had the prix fixe menu and it was paired with wines as well. I had a crabcake salad (which was very good) to start with a crisp savignon blanc; Some delicious maple glazed pork, sweet potato souflee, and oaky buttery chardonnay for a main course and by the time I made it to dessert I did not partake in the wine paring!
I liked Arno's so much I returned the next afternoon for lunch with some clients and had another delightful experience. The atmosphere is unpretentious and the food is down to earth and accented with local ingredients.
I hope someone who has dined here more recently will chime in with their observatons as to the rumored new management alluded to by Jennifer C. -

We had lunch here twice while on the island. Mixed results.
First time: somewhat obnoxious waitress who thought she was funny, but wasn't. Food was good-- lobster wontons (basically fried dough with lobster inside!), lamb stew (a special of the day) and the chicken panini.
Second time: returned the next day and had a bad waitress who tried to tell us they didn't serve root beer (even though we ordered it yesterday?), lobster bisque (good), french onion soup (burnt and definitely not good), and the BBQ chicken pizza of the day which had a shockingly large amount of toxic orange cheddar cheese on top. We picked off 2/3 of the cheese and only ate half the pizza.
In general, food seems hit & miss and service was less than stellar. If you want a sit-down lunch, it's worth going here, but if you'll be just as happy with a sandwich, try somewhere else. -

This has become my Nantucket hot spot. Brought my girlfriend here two years ago for a joint birthday celebration. While the service got iffy at times, the ribs made up for it. That's all I can say...the ribs made the place. Done "Patrick style," these juicy and decently-sized bites were never a failure for the three times I was here, the steak fries a perfect complement. Beer selection is good and the service itself has always been friendly. The inside decor speaks of a classy joint in Nantucket Town while keeping its menu appealing enough to almost everyone. I'll be going here again in a few days and disappointment seems unlikely.
Definitely a recommendation if seafood is becoming too much for you or you just want a nice night with a place to dine. -

Two words... Dining excellence. I had the privilege to eat here with a large group so we used the function menu. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Oscar, and it was amazing. A delicious hollandaise sauce with lobster meat that made me rethink my life. The clam chowder was also a delight. The portions were perfect and the wine list is accommodating to all tastes. I believe they have a Sommelier, but I didn't need one.
FYI: This restaurant didn't pay me to write this review. I really liked what they got going on. -

Arno's is a great local spot for dinner & drinks. We started with the fries with truffle oil, and it was hard to stop eating them! I ordered the rissoto, however my friend had the penne & lobster dish. they were both very tasty, however, i would say that the lobster was excellent. I would go back next time i am in Nantucket.

July 2008 - awful service. Went there with my young family for a mid-week breakfast. We sat for ages at the able (10-15 minutes) before being greeted by our server and being offered drinks.
The food they brought was really nice, but they forgot to bring everything out. Even after I mentioned the missing items, the waitress still forgot to bring everything. -

Bar and bartender were both awesome, but food and waiter both slightly above average. Nice ambiance though.

I ate breakfast twice on Nantucket and Arnos definitely won (versus Even Keel Cafe). The food was excellent, but Arnos is certainly doing its part to tackle obesity. No generous portions of home fries (let's call them potato squares instead) and one slice of toast with your omelette. But what you do get is excellent. The service was very friendly and were it not for the swanky Nantucket prices, I'd give it five stars.
