I've read the other reviews, and the complaints are legitimate. The food has been uneven. There are a few items on the menu that are not as good as the others. The take out service is not the best.
However, the eat in service is always excellent when they're not overwhelmed. And the quality of the food is much better than you would expect for a restaurant in the middle of a tiny strip mall in a small town. The food is almost always excellent, falling only occasionally to very good. The lunch specials are affordable and always served quickly while still managing to taste fresh. The chow mein is awesome and is available at no extra charge with most of the lunch specials. -

This by far is the best Chinese food we have found so far. Last year we lived in the area for 3 months. Once we discovered this place it became our benchmark for Chinese food. Upon our return today for the summer, we waited to eat until we arrived for a late lunch. I usually don't care for Won Ton soup, but theirs is full of good stuff. The lunch portions are generous and the noodles are delicious. I think the best thing about this place is that the food is cooked to order. The vegetables are fresh and have a snap when you eat them.

My favorite Chinese food in the county. We try and eat there at least once a month. Try the twice cooked pork and the spicy soup. Good stuff all around.

This is a Chinese restaurant that rivals some of the places I go to in San Francisco. Their food is always prepared to order and is authentic Chinese. I've been coming here for a number of years and the food is consistent. You do have to know what to order so I usually speak with the owner (who is Chinese) to place the order.
The Chinese food is a welcome of home. We had the usual chow mien, chow fun which was prepared very well. The broccoli beef was fresh and not overly done with gravy. The black bean spare ribs were done to perfection and we had the egg flower soup which was tasty. Just make sure to request no MSG.
The portions are plentiful. This place is a treat especially in Arnold. -

What a gem!!! I have being going to Arnold since I was 3 and I have had chinese food in this location before but I was much younger and dont recall how the food was. My husband and I went out on a date and since the power was out at the country club and pretty much everywhere else, we tried here.
The food was very yummy and even though it was a packed place, the service was quick and decent. There were lots of skiers coming in, so the place was loud and packed, but it didnt over shadow the tasty food. Im not sure if everything was so fresh because they were packed or if it was a normal thing, but I will def. try here again on our next visit!!!! -

It was the best won-ton soup I have had during ten years of living in California. The rest of the food was so-so. What really turned me off was that we had to pay for green tea. Hello? I thought it was a Chinese restaurant where you expect to have free Jasmin tea. Isn't it a given? Minus one star.
After a long day skiing, having any food seemed good enough. Solid three stars for service and food. I also got to watch "The Rock" on the flat panel. Plus one star.
Total: four stars. -

I was taken here last weekend by my parents who come apparently everytime they've gone up to the cabin the last 3 years or so.
They had the Laker game on (yay!), which made me and the BF instantly like the place more, but the food is really good. And they give you tons of it. It's like a little piece of Chinatown in the foothills (yeah, depending on what you get, it's THAT good).
One of our diners has some special food needs, and the staff had no problem cooking his low sodium option. Actually, the waiter is pretty funny, at least once he remembers that your parents are regulars.
I'm still a bit amazed that one of my best recent chinese experiences was in Arnold, to be honest. We will be back. -

Really good--spicy, fresh veggies, served up quickly. Very nice owners. Really surprising to find such a great Chinese restaurant in ARNOLD!

this is one place we will not go to when we head up to Arnold.
The food tasted like it was made with old oil and the chicken that we got in the General Tso's chicken was gamey and looked almost grey.
I made the mistake on the drive back to the cabin of telling my husband that I didn't see any cats around Arnold and maybe that is where they got their meat from...
Should not have done that. He got so disgusted at the idea he threw up in the bushes outside our cabin. Ooops... next time I will keep my jokes to myself and will save the chinese food cravings until we get back home to the bay area or Honolulu. -

I have not been here in a while, but I have been here several times over the last few years. It has dropped off a little bit on the recent times that I've gone, but I'll give a review based on my overall experience with this place.
The food was surprisingly good for a place that is kind of in the cuts. The food has fallen off a bit, maybe a change in ownership? The service was always top notch which you don't expect to find in Arnold (many restaurants in Arnold have incredibly SLOW service) and you usually don't expect from Chinese restaurants.
Paying for tea at a Chinese restaurant is a little weird, so I usually pass on the tea, which is also a little weird.
The prices are decent. It seems like the portions and quality was much better a few years ago. I am part Chinese so having a Chinese option in Arnold (my family owns a cabin close by which we visit frequently with other family and friends) is nice.
If anyone that works there is reading, I suggest stop charging for tea and keep the quality and service at a high level. It definitely makes a difference when deciding where to eat after a long day of playing in the sun or snow.
I hope this helps!
It is good -

My family and I live in San Francisco, but we are blessed to have a vacation home in beautiful Big Trees Village, near Arnold. As someone who appreciates high quality, authentic Chinese food on the level of Koi Palace, I was shocked and delighted to discover such good Chinese food in Arnold.
OK, for the most part, it is NOT really authentic Chinese food you will find here; it is classic Americanized Chinese food. That said, it is done extremely well, uses high quality ingredients, is delivered in affordable and huge portions, and tastes *really* good!
I have probably been to Arnold Chinese about 10 times so far, and here are a few dishes that I hope will ensure that you have a great meal when you visit:
1) Orange beef
2) Sichuan string beans
3) Won-ton soup
4) Crispy shrimp
5) Any black bean sauce dish
6) Any noodle dish
7) Any asparagus dish (posted on the wall when it's in season) -

Arnold, CA
A number of years ago, we quite going here, as we witnessed some disgusting behavior from an employee while on a break in front of the restaurant...picking nose and hacking. It took a couple of years for us to resume frequenting. However, the events of yesterday sealed it. We will never go back. I was in with my son a couple of weeks ago..food just didn't seem to have the flavor, they were short help, service not good.
Last night we ordered take out. Picked up the order, got home...it was not ours. Called them, they requested we bring the food back. Got there, someone was waiting for the won ton soup that was not ours. The server asked us "did you touch it?". Well, of course you dumb ass, we had to open the containers to see what was inside. Our order was there in a box. So, he starts recalculating, as we had an additional item above the original payment. I said your kidding right...I have to come down here and be inconvenienced. About that time a lady came indicating she was shorted an item on her take out. Once again..no help in the place. Just so I could get out of there, In gave him $5.00 more. The food ...once again was not that good...No more. We are done. -

I have been coming to Arnold for 10 years, and tonight was my first time at Arnold Chinese. The service was fast, the food was fresh and good. Mushrooms were still crunchy and not musiy for instance. The portions were big and the prices were resonable.
