Army Navy Store
3 reviews for Army Navy Store
Pretty much everything you need for your basic hunting & fishing sprees - including several different types of flasks. Not that the two mix, but, hey, sometimes you just needs some Jameson's when the fish aren't biting.
Nice staff that's informative, even when their mouth is full of pepperoni pizza.
Great for what it is, though they could use a larger building, or maybe cut back on some inventory (which, by the way, they have tent sales in the summer).
One thing I have to mention is that my husband is in the Air Force, and during the oncoming winter last year, his supervisors were talking about getting Carhartts, and needed to know everyone's sizes. They told everyone in his wing, if they didn't know their size, to go to the Army Navy Store and try them on, because they have the biggest selection in Anchorage.
I was disappointed. Since it is called Army Navy Store, I was expecting a military surplus store. I don't have a surplus store near me, so the only time I get to explore one is when I visit Seattle. Military surplus are always filled with interesting treasures. If the store was called the Winter Work Wear and Boot Store I would give it five stars. The selection of outerwear was massive. The shoe and boot selection looked quite good as well. When I photographed the ceremonial start of the Iditarod I got very wet and cold because I was sitting in the snow on the side of the course for two hours in jeans. Next year, I will probably go here to pick up a pair of Carhartt pants.
