We ate here on a Friday night based on yelp reccomendations.  We walked in and a waiter said hello but other than that it took several minutes to be ackowledged by the owners wife. There were only 3 of us and directly in front of us were at least 4 open 6 top tables, the owners wife looked at the tables and back at us and said she only had big tables and ushered us to a 4 top in the back corner. We were not impressedat this point.  A couple of other groups came in after us, 3 and 4 people but they appeared to be regulars and just choose where to sit.  The waiter was very nice but not very attentive.
On to the food....it is fantastic.  It more than made up for the service issues.  We had the chicken cordon bleau, the chicken parm and chicken with eggplant and prousciutto (it had a fancy name that I don't remember). All 3 dishes were very tasty and large portions.
This is a great little place for some good italian food if you don't mind feeling like the new kid in school.  The owners seemed very nice and attentive to the regulars.
Overall we liked this place and will go back.  I would really like to give it 3.5 stars but since that's not an option I will round up.

We took our niece (and her two brothers and parents) out for her 6th birthday. Parents said Italian was a good option (kids dig noodles) so we looked for a place close to them (Grapevine) that  was getting decent reviews and was child friendly. Armend's fit the criteria and we were VERY happy with our choice. Even though the yelp survey indicates "No" to reservations, they did take a reservation for our party of 7.

We arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday evening and the place was already starting to fill up. By the time we left there was a wait, and after our wonderful meal, I can see why. If you want to try Armend's, but don't feel like waiting, I was told earlier in the week it is not so crowded. With this advice, we will most certainly be back to try more of their dishes, and I do want to try their pizza as well!

The food is a very solid 4 stars, but the level of service (friendly, helpful, engaging, attentive) was 5-star all the way.

We started with mussels and calamari for appetizers. The mussels (9) were served on the half-shell with marinara sauce. Tasty, but I was kinda hoping for a bowl of in-the-shell mussels. The calamari was also quite good. Lightly fried and served with marinara on the side. Yum.

Thuy went with the lobster ravioli and I had a veal and pasta dish with a red sauce (forget the name now, if there's an on-line menu, I will update my review). Both were very good. The other dishes at the table were devoured, and some portions required a to-go box.

Dessert options, especially for a birthday, were limited, but while making the reservation Armend's told us we could bring our own cake (BYOC). We brought a cake and they provided the service, and even helped in a round of "Happy Birthday to You." Like I said, a very nice, family run place that makes everyone feel welcome.

Bottom line: It was a great find, I just wish they would get their URL on-line!

    PS. BYOB too.

I've been going to Armend's for nearly 20 years, including their old white table top location. It's honestly the first restaurant I remember visiting in my life.

Lifelong bias aside, they have the best Italian food I have ever had in Texas and I dare say most of the south in general. My husband thinks this is the best Italian food he's ever had in the United States, full stop. (He comes from a heavily Italian region of Canada on top of growing up in Central Europe.)

The portions are extremely generous, and you can easily split an entree between two people.

They have a whole section of veal entrees, which can be rather hard to find even at most Italian places.

My last visit there was the week of Christmas 2011, where I had some of the chicken cordon bleu and the stromboli. Both were absolutely amazing! The chicken cordon bleu was juicy with the perfect amount of cheese, while the stromboli was hearty with a wonderfully thick sauce.

The staff is quick, attentive, and friendly. They come to check on your table occasionally, but they don't hound or ignore you at all.

It is far more affordable than the food at Southlake Town Center, but just down the road, so it's a great alternative to eating at the expensive restaurants there.

Overall, Armend's is unforgettable and always worth a stop if you're in the area, and definitely worth the drive if you aren't.

This place is awesome! I had the cannelloni and it was superb with a perfect blend of cheese, spice, sauce, spinach and sausage. Delish!  Others at the table had the manicotti, baked ziti, and the fettucini alfredo. I believe the cannelloni was the best of the bunch (lucky me) but everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was excellent and the prices reasonable (pasta dishes are between $7.99-$9.99).  Great bread, too!

    I will definitely go back!

By the way, I didn't realize it was byob, so if you want a glass of wine with dinner, be sure to grab a bottle on your way there!

We have been going here for many years and the food is terrific!  The prices are soooo reasonable. The customer service is awesome. They make you feel like one of the family!  You can do carry out or dine in and either way you go, it's perfect. Don't forget the bread. Yum!

I go to Armends all the time. Most of the time i go with just my mother. A lot of the menu is a bit over priced but we share a plate and each get a side salad. By the end of the meal we are stuffed.
I always forget the name of my favorite dish but it is a pasta with chicken and a mushroom cream sauce. Yummy
I have never had a bad meal here. The service is great and i love the bistro look of the place. I will be back very soon...again and again.

Pretty good pizza and really fast service. The bread they served you while waiting was extremely  soft and warm. Looking forward to coming back for lunch.

It isn't often that my father can be convinced to eat out, but with my younger brother in town from San Antonio we managed to do just that. Since the live in Southlake staying close to their home was the obvious choice. Armends was where my mother wanted since she had eaten there before.

I'm not necessarily a fan of Italian food, but I will never turn down a local favorite. That seems to be exactly what Armends is. The walls are covered with local youth soccer and baseball teams thanking the resturant for their sponsership. The dining area is informal and very simple, nothing to elaborate on.

The food....well...at least what I ordered, was ok. I was hoping to be blown away by "grandma's secret sauce" or something, but unfortuanetly that didn't happen. I had personally ordered the fettuccini alfredo, but sampled my brothers lasagna, my fathers pollo parmigiana, and my mothers mannicotti. The mannicotti is what I should have ordered. I wasn't in the mood for dessert but my mother mentioned the tiramasu was excellent. I'll take her word for it...

Overall, this place is too far for me to personally go back. I can't however dismiss it if my folks ever want to go out and eat again. Hopefully at that point I'll convince them to take a bit of a longer drive.

Like Joe's but a little more expensive, I can't see a reason why i would go here and not to Joe's Pizza Pasta Subs, as the food's almost the same.

Went there on a Sunday evening, they were moderately but not overly busy.  After our waiter brought our drinks, he disappeared for about 15 minutes.  After he came out of the kitchen, he brought drinks to a couple tables.  We both looked at him to indicate we were ready to order.  He then proceeded to take the food order of a large party that had sat down after us.  After he took that order to the kitchen, he came back and started to take another table's food order!  It was like we were invisible!  I raised my hand and shouted "Sir can we order please", and he just looked annoyed, said "in a minute" and kept taking the other table's order.
It was one of the rudest things I've seen in a lot of years of eating out.  We walked out of the restaurant in disbelief.  Can't say anything about the food since we never got a chance to order.
