Good, thin crust, greasy, late night pizza and a pop for $5....
It does not get better than this in Wicker Park (technically Ukrainian Village)! -

It has taken me a while to find a go-to pizza place here in Chicago. For a city famous for its pizza it is certainly lacking. Maybe I have been spoiled living in NYC where you can grab a great slice on every corner, but geez!
Armand's is where I now go for all of my pizza needs. The thin crust is excellent, the Nova style is also very good, haven't tried the pan style. Crusts are nice and crunchy, sauce is delicious, the sausage is to die for... and fresh basil on my pizza is a must!
We always order take out and our (many) experiences have been positive. It arrives home fresh and hot! -

I actually like the pizza at Armand's. I also like the HUGE slice + drink for $5 (tax included, so $5 flat and out). My complaint deals more with the recent purchase and use of a Groupon Now.
Quite often they will run a Groupon Now for $10 worth of take-out food. Great! A couple of weeks ago I purchased 2 - $5 slices (tax is included in the price), paid with my $10 GN, and was on my way.
I went in yesterday for the same deal, but the problem came at the end with payment. The cashier requested that I pay tax on the pizza. I informed her that I had the same deal a couple of weeks ago and wasn't asked for tax. Perhaps, before someone made a mistake. I get that. What I didn't appreciate or understand is why was I was taxed on the full $5 amount (which is supposed to already include the tax)? I realized this after I paid her the additional amount of the tax and on my receipt I have the full $10 amount listed (2 slices) PLUS tax (on the $10).
Now, I know and understand that Groupons do not cover tax, but if that's the case, remove the tax from the precalculated price and tax me on that! Don't tax me twice!
I know it's a miniscule amount, but it's the inconsistencies that bother me. 1. the fact that the last time tax wasn't an issue and 2. the fact that I was taxed twice.
Otherwise, the pizza is good. -

Pizza was delivered in 40 minutes. Hot. Fresh. Delish. Jalapenos were spicy. Sauce is great too. Wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, but it's hard to turn your nose at.

Something is majorly wrong here. Somebody please tell me if Armand's has changed their recipe. I used to love their pizza. I remember the first time I tried it. I raved about how their pizza was exactly what I like in a good pie: perfect buttery thin crust, great taste, good and cheesy. It was going to be my new go-to pizza place when I wanted more authentic tasting pizza and not the generic doughy mess from other places. But I got a slice this evening and it was not the pizza I remembered having a few months ago. The crust was tougher, cardboard-like; hard to chew. The crust was bland. Commercial tasting. flat. (Frozen?) The pizza didn't taste like anything, except for a blast of oregano I got in exactly one bite. It's what I imagine pizza would taste like if Chuck E. Cheese started making pizza for adults. Soooooo glad I didn't order a whole pizza. I'm super disappointed.

The hubs and I just moved to the area. And we needed to find a new pizza place. We came from uptown and our go-to pizzeria was BoJonos. And we do miss it. (tear).
We decided to try armands. And it wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed it. We always get the same pizza. Thin crust. Onions sausage and mushrooms. The crust was delicious. And it wasn't soggy. It was delivered timely and fresh.
We saw on their menu that on your first order you get 20% off. So we called and they said we have to order online. So we hung up, booted the computer and logged in searched and ordered. Our bill didn't reflect the 20% off discount and we still had to call and let them know. What the?
That's why the 3 stars. You ain't no BoJonos. -

I was looking for something new and came across Armand's. I think it is safe to say I have found my new go-to for thin crust pizza. The crust has a great crunch, it is not overloaded with cheese, and they are very generous with their toppings. I highly recommend this place.

By far this is my favorite pizza. Living in the West Loop I really enjoy a good pizza and now that I know this place delivers to me I am now a weekly customer. Nothing beats a good pizza and a Blackhawks game! Ordering a pizza in 15min! Thanks Armands!

There is no Yelp site for the Armand's Pizzeria at Millennium Station (152 East Randolph Street, Suite C17, Chicago, IL, 60601. This is also known as the Metra Electric station. I had their Pizza by the Slice (Supreme) with a nice-sized drink for $5.00 and change. Three words: it was terrific!

Great pizza. Unlike other places in the area, not too proud to make heart-shaped pizzas on Valentine's Day, which was perfect for two guys who had a date in front of a TV with a Hawks game.

I grew up on Armand's pizza at my grandma's house in Elmwood Park. That was 5-star good. No locations emulate that pie but the one on division comes awfully close.

When you're in an Italian bar, with pictures glorifying mobsters covering the walls and Deano on the juke box, and an Italian guy tells you to eat, then you eat. I don't care if you were next door stuffing your face with pasta just 30 minutes before the offer. You eat. Seewhahimsayin'?
So the owner of Armand's had two pies delivered to the bar for the patrons to sample. I got up to take a look, and the owner told me to grab a slice. I responded that I'd just eaten next door. He replied that I had to try it anyway. "Here, try da sausage," he said. You don't turn down an Italian guy in an Italian bar giving you Italian food if you know what's good for you. Youknowwhadahmsayin?
Anyway, I downed a square slice of sausage za. Bada-bing. Very good. I'm going to have to try it again to know if it's fuhgeduhbahdit good. For now, it's four stars good.
Edit of 8/23/11: I figured I owed it to the owner to check out his place, so I went for a slice. Slices are five dollars and come with a pop. Verdict? Good, huge old school slices of za. -

This is just a-ok, nothing special at all. They really need to add more seasonings to their sauce, and they were super skimpy on the toppings.

Review from Brent W.
From what i've seen, heard and how they're advertised, I think this is prob more of a "Slice" place but I wasn't in the mood for leaving the house. Hind sight perhaps I should have as the Small (12") pizza w. Sausage and Onion I ordered rang in at over $20 with delivery/tax/tip....I hear the huge slices can be had for $5 w. pop, that's a bit more like it. Ahh well next time i guess.
And there will be a next time as I quite like Armand's. I looked on line at the pics and could tell I was gonna have to tell them to cook it longer than they normally would...so i asked for it well done. It came to the door piping hot and precisely how i like my pizza cooked w. a nice caramelized cheese on top. Looked and smelled great.
It's a pretty thin crust and has a sort of cornmeal (i think) dusted on the bottom. The combo of sausage and onion was perfect and the cheese, sauce, ingredient ratio was equally well done. And speaking of the sauce, it's a semi sweet variety and rounded out the pizza well.

A med pizza, appetizer and salad for 30 bones? Good to me! I really like the pizza too, finally some good Italian pizza. The 'to go' slices are HUGE and yeah...a little greasy but hey, its pizza and it's a deal. The slice is practically the size of a small pizza.
The salads are fresh, though u could put some green peppers and red onions on the mediterranean salad. Sausage pizza made to order was out of this world good! And the baked artichoke.....amazing.
Give this place a try, it's worth it! -

Really great pizza.
A new favorite for me.
Very fresh ingredients, and very well balanced in quantity.
FANTASTIC thin crust- I really enjoy cracker-influenced thin crust pizza.
Great combo pizzas.
A little expensive, thanks to the trendy neighborhood. -

Fast Delivery on a busy Friday night. Great thin crust. A little greasy. But hit the spot after a long day of traveling across the country.

After a girls night out I decided to stop by Armand's for a secret slice of pizza.
Secret slice being, "I'll just eat a slice of pizza on the walk home and the bf will be none the wiser. And won't judge me for saying I'm on a diet, but then watch me eat a Sonoran hot dog from Big Star and late night pizza all within four hours." He actually doesn't really judge, I just have a lot of food guilt.
I ordered "a slice" and was presented with two HUGE slices and a soda. You can't exactly eat with a soda and two slices of boxed pizza on a walk. So I had to take it home and admit to my food guilt. But, the bf was happy and since the slices are so big I was able to share my guilt with him!
Maybe not "the best" pizza in the word, but for cheap takeout it sure does the trick. Just not walking approved. -

I feel violated. I just paid $5 for a slice of greasy thin crust pizza, and I wasn't even in Manhattan. Was it good? Not particularly. Was I full of regret after looking across the street at Crust? Yes.
Next time I'm in the mood for a quick slice, I'll be heading elsewhere. Thanks for playing Armand's. -
Review from Marc R.
I had walked past this place a bunch of times when they were doing the build out and wondered what the heck was going on. I recently saw them put in the large outdoor patio and so after a hailstorm and after watching a car accident (which I think was a result of people driving in hail) I figured that I better duck in here before giant frogs fell from the sky. I made the right choice.
I got the $5 veggie slice and it comes with a free soda (like some of the other $5 slice places down on say Chicago Ave) but the pizza is much better those old school places down at Western and Chicago.
The veggie was topped with a red and green pepper mix and these tasted like they were marinated in olive oil. The cheese was mind blowing, and the crust, oh the crust, was perfect. They do something that makes this crust super yummy. I don't know what it is, but I am glad I can't do it at home because I would be making pizza every day. I have never had an Armand's pizza, but I must say that while it is not trying to be Crust, or Piece or Boiler Room, it is a true gem in the neighborhood and from what I read on the walls while waiting for my pizza slice to be warmed in the oven they have been doing pizza in the Chicago area since the 1950s.
This is an authentic thin crust at a good price and the fact that they do it the way you figured a "real" pizza place does without skimping by using garbage cheese and junk toppings. They do it the old fashioned way and they do it well.
Way to keep it real. Yum! -

My review for Armand's Pizzeria on Division St. In Ukrainian Village Chicago.
I know this restaurant very well. So I come at this restaurant review with a personal point of view.
I learned the restaurant business from the original owners Michael Caringella and his family. As a teenager I worked for them for years in the original Elmwood Park restaurant. I worked in many areas for Armand's from bus-boy, to the chef's helper in the kitchen. My favorite place to work was when I was with the Pizza crew. I made pizzas cleaned the kitchen and even went on many deliveries.
If you lived in the Elmwood Park area you went to Armand's many times a week. For our family their food was always "our" first choice over any other.
Last night my wife and I ordered Salads and Pizza for a party. The salads were so fresh, so large and healthy. I have read reviews saying the new locations pizza is much like what we had growing up from the original Elmwood Park location. The Pizza we had was... could I say BETTER than we have ever had....
So my wife and I will tell you and everyone else "You must have this fabulous hand made thin crust pizza" from Armand's Pizzeria.

Love love love! I LOVE Armand's pizza. I had it again about a week ago an I'm still craving it! The slices are huge and they're just overall delicious! I've had slices of cheese, pepperoni, and slices of sausage...I can't figure our which I like best. Next, I'm going to have to branch out and order something else they have on their menu but, it will be hard to pass up their pizza!
Great new addition to Division! -
Review from Amanda Z.
I'm pretty sure that Armand's saved my body after a late-afternoon Sunday Fun-day spent at Do Division. In fact, I'm fairly certain Armand's saved a lot of people's bodies. For most of the time I was on Division, there was quite a line. For good reason, I learned...
A fresh, ginormous piece of their cheese pizza sprinkled with red pepper flakes and oregano tasted amazing. The crust was very thin and crispy and the cheese was very tasty. And $4 for a slice and a drink makes it a great value.
Despite the long lines full of festival goers (read, drunks!), employees we friendly and courteous. Well done. I can't say I'd feel the same dealing with the crowd. But I did appreciate the slice with a smile.
Welcome to the 'hood, Armand's! I suspect you're going to make my walks home from the blue line in the evening a bit more dangerous.Listed in: I do Division., Places for 'Za

On Saturday night, we often order a take-out pizza, watch TV, and cuddle on the couch. Usually we get it at Pizza Metro, but since Armand's opened, it's a little closer, and had decent reviews, so I thought I'd try them.
We got a thin crust sausage, red pepper, onion, mushroom, and black olive. Very disappointing. Not that it was bad, it just had no flavor to it. I suspect the ingredients were not as fresh as they should be. It also didn't look quite as good as what I'm used to: Kind of a uniform reddish-gray color. Definitely not up to a Chicagoans expectation of Pizza.
I would say the onions did taste better than Pizza Metro. Very sweet and tasty. The price was typical, it was ready on time, and when I picked it up, the people were friendly. But I'm probably not going back. -

Being the pizza lover that I am, I was very excited to get a new pizza place in the hood so my husband, son and I walked here tonight to pick up a quick dinner.
I love the option of being able to just buy a slice. My husband had the thin crust sausage and I chose the thick crust cheese. The price for a slice is the same for both- $5. However, included in the $5 is a soft drink. Additionally, the slices of pizza are so big they cut them into 2 slices for you. We felt like we were getting a very good value, especially since after only paying $10 we left feeling very full. I liked both the thin and the thick pizza and would happily order either next time depending on what I was in the mood for.
The rest of the menu looked good as well. Next time I come, I would like to try the Italian Beef. Additionally, I took note of a huge pizza they serve for $28 that serves 12. I figured it would be a great, cheap option for having guests over.
Overall, I am excited to have a close place in the neighborhood to walk and get a slice. It wasn't the best pizza I have ever had, but it was good. I want to judge the pizza again when I order a full pizza hot. I think it's unfair to judge the place based on pizza that has been sitting under a warmer. -

When I saw all the great reviews for this place, I was pumped because I live a block away but when I went I was very disappointed. I got a slice of pizza which tasted like it came straight from the freezer section of Jewel. There was nothing original, flavorful or special about that slice. Pizza is one of my favorite foods and I am typically satisfied by most pizza I eat but there are definitely better pizza and drink combos in the area. I only gave it 2 stars because the guy behind the counter was friendly. Though this is the closest pizzeria to my place, I don't anticipate returning.

What a great thin crust pizza; crispy crust, just the way I like it. And the sausage was amazing. It's nice to have a new place in the neighborhood and just in time for Do Division on one of the hottest days of the year.

Love love love Armand's Pizza. Had it a few weeks ago - they donated like 30 pizzas to Gigi's Playhouse (a Down Syndrome Awareness Center) for their holiday party. The party was on Sunday and they delivered 30 hot pizzas in the late morning, so when you consider how early they were up making the actual pizzas, well the effort was so incredibly generous. All guests left with full and happy tummies. Thanks again Armands.

If you're considering eating at Armand's or ordering from there, do it immediately if not sooner. Everything is outstanding! I highly recommend trying their signature thin crust pizza, as well the Armand's salad, especially if you're an artichoke lover. The pizza is super-thin, and some of the best I've had in the city!
As a sidenote, when the delivery guy handed me my receipt, it appeared that a coupon I had wasn't included in the charge on my credit card. The owner personally called me 10 minutes later to apologize for any confusion, and clarify the correct amount. The shock still hasn't worn off. -

I'd like to add that shortly after submitting my original review the owner contacted me to understand exactly what went wrong with my experience. This is promising as it shows me that he cares to correct any issues which may exist. He also offered to make good on my previously poor service. Unfortunately I wasn't in town long enough to take him up on the offer.

I've been looking for a new pizza place in the neighborhood and came across Armad's. I ordered a thin crust pizza and caesar salad. Both were amazing!!! Loved the fresh ingredients, taste of crust, and how they were not cheap with croutons. I'll defiantly be ordering from this place again. It's a little expensive for a thin crust pizza, but defiantly worth the price.

I know Armands from Elmwood Park and was happy to see the pizza recipe here was the same. The appetizers were awesome and the stuffed pizza did not disappoint. Since it is a BYOB my friends and I each brought a different beer and hung out on the outdoor patio area. Great food and a great time. Meatballs get a big thumbs up. Even something for the vegans!!!

Probably the best NY style pizza I have ever had in Chicago. I bought a slice of cheese yesterday for lunch after wanting something quick, easy, and cheap. I wasn't expecting anything other then your standard slice. I was totally wrong though. This is exactly the kind of pizza you don't expect to find in 'deep dish' Chi. The slice was very large and paper thin. (so thin you could probably eat 3 of them!) The thinnest I've had without it breaking! The establishment was very clean too and the girl stuck it in the oven for a bit before giving it to me so when I ate it, it was so crispy and perfect! It had the perfect amount of sauce and cheese and the crust was supurb and buttery. I know i was hungry when i ate it so anything would have tasted good, but this really went beyond expectations. I had a pedicure appointment across the street so enjoyed my food as I sat getting pampered..I felt like a queen and couldnt stop smiling from the awesome slice I was enjoying!
My only negative, being somewhat of an environmentalist, I find it kind of wasteful that they serve your slice to you in a pizza box. It's cute and nice, but it seems an awful waste for a paper thin slice. I think I would serve it on a paper plate and a piece of foil for to-go slices...save the boxes for whole orders perhaps. ? Just a thought!
But as far as pizza quality.....THE BEST if you are looking for NY style! Also, $5 even for a drink and slice, tax and all =) Can't wait to go back! -

I was really hoping this place would be great since it is literally three doors down from me. I love thin crust pizza and a good old fashioned piece of cheese from time to time but this was seriously disappointing. Five dollars a slice is a little steep for pizza with a big lack on flavor. For some reason I was also crazy enough to try the cannoli which was stale and had obviously been sitting in the fridge making the shell soggy. Oh well, I'll stick with Crust, Piece and Santullo's for my pizza.

I had Armand's delivered for an event at work, and it was delicious! And I'm not the only one that said so -- all my coworkers were raving about it too! Usually work events with "pizza" mean some cardboard covered in grease that's really cheap, but this was the real deal! I ordered a variety of different kinds and was most impressed by the vegetarian pizza. Armand's does not skimp on veggies like other places. I hope my work orders again because we all really liked it.
