For this review, I wanted to ask my husband what he thought about Armadillo Auto Glass, since it was my husband's car window I called Armadillo to repair on two different occasions.
Me: I'm totally remiss in not having written a review for that Armadillo Auto Glass guy yet. What should I say?
Husband: "He's great. Could not be faster."

I needed the windshield replaced on my Lexus and did not want to fork out the $1100+ the dealership wanted to replace it. I shopped around a bit, and saw that Armadillo had the best reviews, so I ended up giving them a call. Greg was very helpful on the phone, and even called the glass distributor to confirm the glass was going to be PPG (or PGW, as they are now called) for my particular model. From my research, PGW was the best non-OEM glass you could get (and is even OEM for some lower-end car brands).
Greg drove out to my location and installed the windshield quickly (less than an hour) and I have not experienced any problems in the two years that followed. As for the windshield itself, it wasn't as perfect as the Lexus glass--probably around 90%, but the pricing made it irrelevant. First, the glass has a gray tint at the top instead of the blue or green that the OEM had. This looked OK since my car was black. Second, the glass looked very clear looking at it head-on, but there was some optical distortion when looking at items at an angle (e.g. looking at something to the front-right side of the car). Probably not a big deal for most, but -1 star for the product in my opinion. All in all, I don't think you're going to get around this unless you fork out a ton of cash for OEM, so I highly recommend! -

When incompetent thieves smashed a window to try to steal my stereo, yelp put me on a five-star trail to the door of Armadillo Auto Glass. First call got me voicemail. Second time I left a message. Greg called me back an hour or so after that. He was booked for the day but told me he'd give me a discount if I could wait until the next morning. He dutifully came and replaced the window as efficiently as I could ask for.
I'd give him five stars, save for one thing: Thieves returned in less than a week, smashing the same window and again failing to wrench the stereo from the dashboard. Armadillo's voicemail indicated they were taking a week's vacation this time around, so I called another company with good yelp reviews, who came out late on the same day. The price? Same as Armadillo's "discount" price, to the penny.
No complaints, but I'll save the fifth star for the other glass company, who went the extra mile to come the same day and didn't blow breeze up my skirt about some special discount. -

So, the thing about glass repair, is that it can be a little like a house of cards. Case in point: I had an inspection sticker that was due for bringing current, but a couple of weeks ago I managed to take a pebble in the windshield of my ride, which, in this searing heat (thank you summer), quickly spread into some sort of crack art exhibiting patterns of interpretive dance. Which I realize may not clear up the house of cards idea for you - what I mean is this: I couldn't replace my sticker without first replacing the glass, and I was short on time to boot.
Which is also my way of saying said crack was out of control, and there was no hope of saving the glass by filling the crack. The whole thing had to go. Enter Armadillo Auto Glass, who I was able to get to swing by (my days don't always allow for hours in someone else's waiting room), and within 48 hours, Greg dropped by and was able to do a pretty quick switch, exhuming the old glass and replacing anew. Now I'm set to jet - he replaced my stickers, and once I get the new one in place, I'll be tooling like the old days. Recommended.Listed in: Miscellaneous 5-1-2.

I used Armadillo Auto Service TODAY to replace the glass in the my car that was broken into last night. When I called Armadillo, they were not only very nice and respectful but their price was very reasonable. Between the first conversation we had to the time my windown was replaced was only a few hours -- that's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE to the best that I've seen in a LONG time. I will refer Armadillo to anyone that has any sort of glass repair needed.

Support a local business and get a great price on glass repair!
Greg is a true pro. Armadillo Auto Glass was recommended to me after some jerk busted my window. A friend from school had the same thing happen, and he said Armadillo is super fast (he comes to you!) and gives much better prices than many chain auto glass places around town. Everything he said was true! I got an awesome quote for my tinted window, made an appointment, Greg showed up on time, and had my window fixed in half an hour, sweet!
It's always sucks when you have to get a window replaced. But if you need it done, call Armadillo Auto Glass! I will definitely be recommending this awesome business to all of my friends in the greater Austin area. -

I had a large bull's eye crack put into my windshield on the passenger's side as a result of a hail storm in March of '09. Being that I scrape by with the minimum state required amount of coverage, I was not looking forward to paying for the repairs out of pocket and put it off for a very long time. I found out about Armadillo through Yelp and decided that after almost a full year, I needed to just suck it up and have the thing replaced.
The day of the repair went relatively smoothly, only marred by things out of human control, such as the gift of rain that day. But Greg was very accommodating and was able to get the job done without me having to leave my apartment. He did a wonderful job transferring over my stickers and TxTag - no complaints there. And the price was lower than what my dad quoted me through his "friend of a friend" who would do it for dirt cheap. So it was a win-win!
I highly recommend any service that lets you relax in the comfort of your home while your car is being taken care of for a decent and respectable price! -

There are just a couple of minor details you need to know before I get started. They do not have a downtown location where you can go to get your glass fixed/replaced. All the work is done at your location (home, office, etc). Also, you don't get 10% off the work when you mention this ad. However, you can get $10 off.
After my terrible experience with Safelite (I posted a review), I was a little gun shy about who to trust, where to go, etc. I did a google search and came up with several companies, and called them. One was Austin Tex Star Glass. I perused their website and decided they seemed reputable enough, but when I called them, their name had changed to San Marcos Auto Glass. The people who own that business are not the same as the ones listed on the website. Apparently, the owners of Austin Tex Star Glass sold their business to someone else, who still operates the website and has the same phone number. Shady.
My next try was Austin Auto Glass. No. Then I looked at the website for Accurate Auto Glass. Ew. If you can't even have a professionally designed website replete with proper English, I'm not going to do business with you. I also called Binswanger, but their price was over $100 more than other quotes.
I finally decided that I should be looking on yelp instead of google. Armadillo Auto Glass popped right up--with five-star reviews. I called the number, got a person who didn't sound like a complete idiot (one place I had to call three times: the first time I got a busy signal, the second time, they answered and hung up, and the third time I got someone who seemed really disinterested in helping me, and when I asked about the company and their business history, he slurred, "Just a minute," and put me on hold. I hung up.), and within minutes, I had an appointment scheduled.
Greg called back the next day to say that when he went to pick up the glass, there was a 4" scratch in the middle of the windshield and that it couldn't be buffed out. He said he'd order another one and we set an appointment for Friday morning (today).
I called him Friday around 9, he said he'd be here around 10, and at about five minutes after 10, he called to say he was outside working on my car. He had the work done in about an hour, everything was good, I paid and he left. I didn't have to drive anywhere and he seemed very interested in having my business.
So yes, I totally recommend Greg, who is the owner of Armadillo Auto Glass. -

My car was broken into and I lost a passenger window. I called Greg at Armadillo based on other good Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed!! He made an appointment that was convenient for me, arrived on time, and finished more quickly that anticipated. In less than an hour, my window was as good as new, and all of the little bits of broken glass were vacuumed out of my door panel. I paid my insurance deductible, and he billed the rest to my insurance.
I highly recommend Armadillo Auto Glass! I hope to never need them again, and I hope you don't either. Break-ins suck. But, if your windows accidentally get broken, THIS IS THE GUY TO CALL! -

Yelpers came through again for me! After comparing reviews, I decided to give Armadillo Auto Glass a call for a rock chip repair that spread several inches. I was able to get a hold of Greg immediately who said it would be no problem to take care of it and he would come to my home. He was exactly on time, professional, and courteous. He finished the repair in less than 30 minutes with a substantial improvement in the visual aesthetics. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

Greg was easy to get a hold of and prompt in setting up an appointment for me after my driver side window had been busted out in a theft attempt. Having worked in the auto business I'm very critical when it comes to any type of automotive service, but Greg did great. He was on time, cleaned up the mess and had in a new window in right away without cutting corners. His price was also very reasonable and he's definitely a pro at what he does.

Greg is the one to call. Best price, honest, friendly, up front, OEM glass and glue, a lifetime warranty, and you're supporting a local business.
A rock hit my windshield and grew to a significant crack. I Yelped windshield repair in Austin and called the top 5. Out of all of them, Greg seemed the friendliest, most honest repairman, and spoke from experience. Just from my description over the phone, he correctly guessed where the crack had occurred. I have a Honda CRV and he got me THE OEM windshield that my car had leaving the factory. Total cost was around $200 and he came to my home, on-time, and switched out the glass within 2 hours. He also didn't try to take advantage of me with moldings, etc. like the other guys did. He knew that being a new car, only some of the molding needed to be replaced, as part some of the molding was designed to be reusable, clipping back on. Thanks for the good work. -

Even though I don't keep anything of value in it, somebody decided to smash out the window of my car and rifle through everything. Hope they enjoyed that waste of time!
Still left me with the annoying problem of getting my window fixed. Searched for a place close to my work and came across Armadillo. Lots of ratings, 5 stars, must be good, right?
And it was. Called this morning and talked to Greg who came out a couple of hours later. He gave me a two hour window of time he would be here and awesomely arrived much closer to the beginning of that window. About 30 minutes later my window was fixed.
Greg was laid back but the job was handled in a totally pro way. And he drove to my office, so I didn't have to drop my car off and worry about getting a ride.
As for price, it seemed completely fair. A bit lower than expected even. However, I didn't do a lot of comparison shopping...just wanted it fixed. Considering his speed and competency, it was well worth it. -

Creeps broke my driver's side window and tried to steal my stereo. I called these folks up based on the reviews and they came out in a couple of hours. Although it took twice as long as they expected it would and they had to call out a second guy who had more experience for my apparently complex window, they got it done before dark and in time for me to make my dinner date - AND, they didn't charge me a penny more than the estimate for the extra guy and time! And the price they quoted was lower than Longhorn, too.

We had a rock hit our minivan windshield leaving a bulls eye and a long crack - about 8 inches long. It was way at the top on the passenger side - not really in the driver's field of vision. But, a crack this large had us worried about needing to replace the entire windshield. A lot of places want to replace windshields but we really wanted a repair. Armadillo was willing and able to repair the damage for us. The crack is still visible but it will not spread. We had a couple of other tiny rock dings that the tech filled in for us for no extra charge. They came the day after we talked to them at our prearranged time. They came to our house without charging any extra for that either. Awesome service, great price. Did exactly as promised and a little extra. I heartily recommend them.

This is a great Service. Gregory, the owner is a righteous young man. If you ever need a windshield or window replaced, don't hesitate to give them a shout. I had an emergency and they came to my workplace and replaced the right passenger window an hour and a half after I made the call. The Prices are excellent too.

4 days before Christmas, someone decided I had something in my car that they needed. So.. they smashed my window, opened up my center console and took it!
Obviously, that'd not how you want to start your Christmas break. I spent that afternoon calling around trying to get the best price on a new window. Thankfully, I found Armadillo Glass. Their quote was less expensive than anyone else AND they were able to meet me at work and fix my window in the parking lot while I was working! No taking time out of my day to repair my car and I got a great price on the repair? DEAL!
My guy showed up right on time and had the job finished in about half an hour!
Now... if only they could replace what got stolen.... -

Subaru Forester had a long windshield crack from something hitting it on the highway and I called Armadillo based on reviews here. I called pretty late in the day (about 5pm) Thursday and Friday and left messages. Greg got back to me Monday and we managed to stop the phone tag that afternoon. We set up a time for the following afternoon. Greg called to say he was on his way to my house, showed up on time and finished the windshield in style and pretty quickly. Tags transferred nicely. Price same as estimate--reasonable. Overall highly recommended.

Got my window smashed during SXSW. I called Greg around noon the next day. He came out within 1 1/2 hrs. Was friendly, offered a competitive price, and was very thorough. Replaced my passenger window in 30-40 min. I recommend and endorse these folks. Great mobile service.

Greg was awesome! He came out and repaired my window same day after some thief broke my damn window. He was very affordable too! He is definitely a keeper and you never know when another bubble gum wrapper becomes attractive to another would be thief again.

I walked out to the car this week and had the unfortunate realization that my back window had been used as some sort of pellet-gun target. It was entirely shattered--still intact, but shattered. I called several places that told me, because my car was a 1998 Trooper, they no longer sell the glass aftermarket and the cost from the dealer would be roughly $750. With the install, it increased to $888. I was shocked and deflated; I did not have anything close to this type of money to spend. Thankfully, I got an IM from a friend whom I'd told what had happened. The IM said: call this guy--Greg Kieke at Armadillo.
I have many things to say about Greg and Armadillo, and the one that tops the list is "outstanding." Greg not only called scrap yards for me, not only found one at a scrap yard, not only went way out to the sticks to pick it up in the early morning hours, not only came to my house in rush hour traffic, and not only installed it in less than an hour in cold weather, and not only had to take my rear tire and wiper off--he did it all with a smile, a laugh, and utmost professionalism. I really can't recommend Greg and Armadillo enough. Saving me more than $500 is one thing (a big thing at that), but equally satisfying was that here was a genuinely good guy doing the work. By the way, Armadillo does not only auto glass, but they also do residential and commercial windows. And they have 24 hr emergency service. If you need any of that type of work done, call Greg. No doubt you will be very glad you did.
Hat's off to you, Greg, and Armadillo. Thank you thank you thank you.

******Can I do 6 stars? Greg was the coolest! I say 6 stars because I got my car worked on and done in under 45 mins! He even came to my work to change out the cracked windshield. No hassle or waiting. Just call him and set a time frame and you are done. All for around $200.

My car was broken into last night, which I discovered this morning as I was about to go to work. I looked up a few auto glass repair shops on here trying to get price quotes. Finally settled on Armadillo as they were one of the least expensive places I was able to get a hold of & I liked Greg's voice on the phone. He told me he'd be at my work to repair the window between 2 & 4 this afternoon. He arrived just before 2. Took him about 15min! I was so happy! Another thing that impressed me is that he had to order the glass from San Antonio & I had called the first time for just a price quote right before the order had to go in. He went out on a limb & ordered the glass so I was able to have my window fixed same day!
