4 reviews for Arlington Diner
Looks like an old time diner and I dont know what it is about east coast people, but I found them rather charming with their lil NJ accents.....
The food was great! I had a veggie omlett, home fries, it was tasty indeed. Hard to find good coffee in a diner, they had awesome coffee!
The waiter was a little bitchy, but i can forgive that, maybe he was having a bad day...
So the previous reader went for coffee to go and was angry when it was a $1.25? They did not even have the sense to sit down and actually order some food.
I am here at least two days out of the week. The office for my startup is less than a mile away and we frequent here enough that all of the staff knows who we are one even quipped the other night about how we're aiming to sit at every table in the diner.
Tonight we came into the office fresh off dinner at Arlington Diner and I had the Grecian burger. For those of you that do not know what that is: feta cheese, tzatziki sauce and a hamburger. This has been my choice of burger there for awhile now.
Its hard to suggest a dish to try. Some of our favorites include: blueberry pancakes, french toast, meatloaf sandwich and their amazing omelettes. But they serve basically anything else you would find at a diner. What they are excellent at is baking.
All of their baking is done on the premises and they have some of the best cheesecake that I have ever had.
Alright... I got my soapbox out on this one....
If life you are told to never take 3 basicaly things for granted... loving parents and good health. Let me and a 3rd... NEVER ever take diners for granted... especially when you leave NJ like I have. There is nothing like a jersey diner in CA. Dennys doesn' cut it...
I am not saying that its the best diner dinner but it is clean. Breakfast is good and it goes without saying that cheese cake defines the Arlington Diner.
The moral of this story... Love your diner because you will miss it when your are gone...
This diner review is being ghost-written by The Wife. She has a two-line review ready to go. Hit it, Evi:
"That's the worst diner I've ever been in. I don't mind paying a lot of money, but the food better be worth it."
The Wife is usually spot-on with her estimation of places, even if she lacks the sort of prolixity that makes for an in-depth review. For example, notice how she left out that the waitresses do not keep your coffee mug full. Or the subtle way she avoids the whole issue of organized pressure to turn over those tables even during a slow afternoon. Or the mediocre food. Or the $1.25 for six ounces of coffee to go. She really leaves that to the reader to intuit.
See, now you know *my* problem. I lack psychic abilities too.
