We wanted to go rafting when we were visiting Colorado, just happened to find this company, and luckily were able to go the last day of the season (Labor Day).  The water level was much lower than it must be in June/July and our guide said there were many more rocks visible (making it more technical) than earlier in the season.

Since 2 of us were new to rafting, we opted for the class 3 and under (5 being the wildest).  It was so much fun!  Our guide (Eileen) was great.  She really knew what she was doing and was very clear about her instructions.  We felt safe.  We were the fabulous five females!  We did get stuck on rocks a couple times, but none of us flipped out of the boat (like people from the other boats did), so we were happy.

We did the day trip and having them provide lunch was nice.  Nothing gourmet, but satisfied our hunger . . . a make your own sandwiches (so you can get what you want), fruit, pringles, cookies, and powdered lemonade (kind of funky but I guess an OK touch instead of just plain water).

The other rafts had families (one with 2 under 10 year olds) and the other with adult children and their parents.  All had fun.

The only complaints a couple of my friends had was that the PFD (Personal Flotation Device -- can't use the term life jacket anymore) rubbed their chin uncomfortably.

Being the last day of the season, we got some good deals on merchandise at the end of the day.

The zip line was so much fun.  The guides were great, the views of the river and mountains fantastic, and the steak dinner afterwords topped it all off.  Definitely recommend and I can't wait to go back.

Rafting through Brown's Canyon Express was absoluting thrilling.  We were lucky enough to visit during high water and we had a ride of a lifetime watching friends getting eliminated off the raft and being on one of the 4 out 9 rafts that flipped over completelycausing our group to lose at least 6 paddles.  One of the guides said she hasn't flipped in 8 years.   The day started off excruciating hot and ended peacfully after a 30 minute thunder and lightening storm.  It was fantabulous!

I was able to raft with AVA as part of a business junket. I didn't get to pick them, but am thrilled with the folks that did!  We went just two days after peak water in the summer of '11. We had a blast. The water was good the boats looked near new and the gear was a little better than I expected for loaner gear. The staff and our guide were great. I had never rafted before, but do have a background in watersports at a high level. These folks know, love and respect the water and the river. They are serious about safety but keep it fun for everyone. Not always an easy task. Well done AVA!

If you are looking for a rafting trip be sure and book with AVA. This is a class A company. The guides are experienced and informative, not to mention entertaining. They make you feel at ease like you have done this hundreds of time before. They also provide you with the opportunity to purchase a CD of pictures of your trip. I highly recommend this. The pictures were great and give you a chance to smile everytime you look at them.

ok, group of us went for a rafting trip in 08 and i found out this company through google. not sure wht to expect we were hoping it to be good and man it was good. the guide was awesome, he knew how to keep everyone involved. the day starts with getting your helmets and life jackets on. then while on the bus to the river, the guide explains you what to do and what not to do. once the river, you'll be surprised how clean the water is. we did class 3 ( 5 being the highest level). they make lunch for you and then go for a hike lil bit. then towards the end, you can jump off a cliff. whole day activity for $100 bucks......GREAAAT. will definitely go back again sometime soon.

About 2 weeks ago I went on the new Zip Line and rafting trip down Browns Canyon. I live in the area and am well aware of the high risk of the water level. I highly suggest this company because they have such a high standard of performance and extremely capable guides. It is always the best to talk with the booking agents when you are taking your first trip to really understand and be aware of the risks of rafting. It is dangerous, but that is why you are with a qualified guide. They go through extensive training you can tell by the way the guides talk you through each rapid. I've gone rafting in many different locations all across the country and have to say my many trips with AVA have been beyond amazing!!! This last trip I had Emily who a newer guide but you would have never been able to tell. She did such an outstanding job and am looking forward to my next trip hopefully in the next week or two!
