Mina has done the flowers for my holiday party as well as for dinner parties for three years now, and her designs are always original and beautiful and last for ages. Our guests always comment on how marvelous the flowers are, and I am always amazed at how the arrangements fit our house. We have an early December holiday party every year, and we take the centerpiece back to Mina after a week or two and she refreshes it for Christmas dinner. This year's mix of red chard, mistletoe and dark red peonies was a standout. I used to go out of my way to use Podesta Baldocchi and now I don't have to because Mina is so much better, and I get such personal service!

What a disappointment... I dropped in at Arjan Flowers to pick up some roses for someone in the hospital. I selected twelve David Austin roses for an small arrangement which cost over $50.00 I specifically informed the woman behind the counter this was for someone in the hospital and how long would they last? The response was" oh, at least a week". Well, I took the arrangement to the hospital and within hours the flowers were wilted. I return the next day and the flowers are almost dead. All I can say is "shame, shame, shame".

I'm sorry to say I had a bad experience at Arjan--particularly disappointing because it started with such promise. I was at lunch with friends on the street and passed by the shop, which immediately pulled me in with its gorge, unique, and well-curated tablefuls of flora. As soon as I walked in the door I knew I was ready to drop $50 on a bouquet for my dining table that would wow all my houseguests. The woman behind the counter stayed silent, so I waited--I figured she'd get to me in a minute and put together an awesome arrangement (the store was otherwise empty).
So I waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Loitered by the counter.
Looked at her curiously?
...waited...
And then I was pretty far over it. Interest wilted on the vine, if you will. I was over trying to buy some flowers in a place that didn't have any interest in selling them to me. So I started to leave...and as my back foot crossed the threshold, I heard her say "Sorry." I didn't look back to find out for what.
Meh--Arjan seemed cute but in the end was not worth it. Toodles! -

I'm a huge fan!! This is my ideal type of flower shop- more of a Salon dedicated to flowers, arranged in beautiful containers on lovely tables, lavish textures, colors, scents, and selection, with doors swung open wide and only one refrigerator in the back of the shop behind the counter- in sharp contrast to typical American flower shops, which i find to be quite sterile and ugly.
I have very specific floral design tastes having worked on farms, in the cut flower industry, and in some florist shops myself. Hands down Arjan Flowers would be my choice for gifting, getting, and events for which I wanted to purchase flowers.
She has lovely and amazing orchids, too- very unique and spectacular blooms that she finds at the SF Flower Market.
I went in recently and asked for a $25. bouquet, with hyacinths as the main flower. (It was Spring, when they are in season and readily available, also cheaper at this time). I sort of held my breath because I didn't quite know what $25 would get me here.
I was delighted! I assure you, the bouquet was spectacular in every way. I presented it as a gift for a special Birthday girl, but indirectly, trying to impress her Mother, and I think I did! (Long Story; I was kissing up). It was so showy and lavish, with it's scent and colors, yet totally organic and tasteful in it's composition. -

I have visited Arjan a number of times, and every time, I have been knocked out by the quality and variety of extraordinary flowers that Mina is able to find. The other day I brought a friend in to see the shop, and I was able to get a nosegay of violets! I have not seen violets like that for about 30 years. The dahlias are stunning, and she had variegated dogwood branches, olive branches with olives on them, narcissus and you could get a little bunch of forget-me-nots! And she had a new variety of scented rose that was gorgeous and smelled like heaven. Arjan is a magical little place, and if I had my way, I'd have Mina's beautiful flowers in my home every day.

Mina is wonderful! She created all the reception flowers for a friend's small wedding. She was able to work with you regardless of your budget (big or small). She was easy going, calm and very creative. The shop reflects this, it's small but tasteful and has everything from plants, pots, flowers and anything and for any occasion.
On the wedding day, Mina was one of the first vendors to arrived and left only after she ensure she placed every last corsage/boutonniere on the wedding party. She created a corsage for the flower girl in a pinch as it was not even part of the order. Her arrangements for the reception was gorgeous and elegant (pictures included). Even on a very limited budget, she gave the bride what she wanted. She decorated the guest book table, the sweetheart table, added flair to the cake table, and provided the flower girls with all the dried lavender for the ceremony. She offered her excellent advice on the placement of the arrangements. If you want no worries for your events, select Arjan and trust Mina.
If I didn't live in Sacramento, I would probably use Mina for all my florist needs. Thank you Mina!! -

Maybe 3.5 stars.
I was walking down Piedmont Ave yesterday and popped into Arjan to get some flowers to bring to a dinner party. I had the owner help put something together for me. There wasn't a huge selection of flowers, but perhaps that helps with keeping the flowers fresh.
The arrangements on display in the shop were sophisticated and modern. I think that they can do some nice quality designs.
My only comment was that they filler blossom type flowers that I got for my bouquet were not that hearty and were wilting the next day. And like all florists... significantly more expensive than buying bouquets from Whole Foods/Safeway/TJs.
I've recently been reviewing a handful of florists. I like Arjan's style. That's just preference, and hence 4 starts. Based on quality of flowers and price, maybe your average 3 stars. I'd definitely recommend checking it out though! -

I needed a largish flower arrangement for a funeral. I wanted something tasteful, traditional but not dated, and definitely no boring FTD styles.
I called Arjan on the basis of their Yelp reviews and the arrangements I saw on their website. The woman who answered the phone asked me what kind of colors I wanted and the type of arrangement I had in mind, and after some back and forth said she had a good idea of what I wanted and would deliver something beautiful to the church. I'm a little particular when it comes to flowers and I'd never dealt with this florist before so I kept my expectations low.
When I got to the church I knew immediately which arrangement was mine. It was gorgeous-- it looked like a large spring garden of dogwood, tulips, hydrangeas and half-open roses arranged asymmetrically. It was exactly what I had asked for: traditional flowers arranged in a transitional-contemporary style. During the sad moments the flowers were comforting and beautiful to look at. Thanks Arjan. -

This is my go to place for bouquets. Everything I've bought from here and received from here (via the boyfriend) has been beautiful and unique. If you actually care about the flowers you're giving and the person you're giving it to then take that extra step, spend a little bit more, and visit Arjan. Ps. The price is totally worth it, and this is coming from a student's budget.

Having never been to Arjan, I described what I wanted and told her what my budget was all over the phone. Mina emailed me photos of an absolutely stunning arrangement. I would not hesitate to order flowers from her again.

Beautiful place, highest quality flowers, talented artistic florist (Mina). Buying flowers here feels like a special occasion. Not cheap but worth the price.

Mina did our wedding and did a fabulous job; beautiful, creative arrangements; she was one of the first to arrive to make sure everything was OK, did a great job, made us feel comfortable that it was all handled, all at a very reasonable price. I highly highly recommennd her for any event based on that experience

sorry to say, we had a bad experience. i ordered three pricey bouquets for delivery. they looked alright when they got here...kind of unusual arrangements, not as modern or cutting edge as podesta baldocchi or rossi and rovetti in the city though. anyway, by the second day, most were dead. the owner was incredulous and clearly didn't believe it was possible. um...it was possible. could have been something with the delivery, i don't know. i didn't push for a refund but i should have. i won't use them again. maybe they're fine if you pick up rather than use their delivery service.

It doesn't get better than this. This is my ideal flower shop, and now that I've found it... what if I can't stop going? Everything in the store is gorgeous, lush, seasonally appropriate, and very romantic... This particular spring weekend, there are dogwood blossoms, sweet-smelling lilacs in multiple colors, anemones, roses, sweet peas, ranunculus, several types of narcissus, and tulips short and tall, fringed and striped, all of which are to-die-for. There are potted orchids and purple water lilies (!!) available by the stem. This is a well-curated collection of flowers.
The customer before me consulted with the owner to create two show-stopper arrangements of pink dogwood blossoms and purple lilacs, ready to be presented to some heartbreakingly lucky friend. I proceeded to put together "a little something" for myself. So satisfying!
The shop is calm and well-lit. The owner is friendly but not aggressive: she answered all my questions, and helped me decide on a few additional stems to mix in with the simple bunch of ranunculus I chose as the centerpiece for my bouquet. She arranged the flowers for me, added in some tasteful greenery, and I left the store triumphant. The best moment of my week! I'll be looking for excuses to come back to Arjan as often as possible. -

I've never actually been to Arjan Flowers or met Mina in person. I live in DC and was ordering flowers for someone in Oakland. Mina was very friendly and helpful over the phone. After I concluded my order, I asked if she knew a bakery that would deliver since I wanted to send some cookies along as well. She recommended one that was on the way to the delivery and volunteered to pick up my order. As if that level of service weren't enough, the floral arrangement turned out great (as did the cookies--good recommendation)! I will definitely use them again.

I really love this flower shop. When I saw how simply and tastefully the owner had arranged her shop, I knew she would do a good job with any bouquet. She helped me put together a very classy Christmas bouquet (without red!), but most importantly, she was extremely respectful of my price-range.
