Good place to get sushi and the prices are very reasonable. Service was really good, which is a huge plus for me. The sushi was fresh and the tea was delicious. I come here occasionally.

Love that this place is local, serves fresh sushi, has quick and friendly service. It would get 5 stars from me IF the tatami room was for smaller parties (requires a party of 6-8) and definitely if they served sake... Besides these 2 things I recommend this place!

Went here because we were being lazy and didn't want to cook or walk a mile.
This place is very cozy, has nice decor, and a really large fish tank with a really large trapped fish.
I got the udon soup with tempura. The soup came out scalding hot in a pot.
It was really good and satisfying. However, when I got home I felt so bloated and my stomach cramped. I realized that the soup had so much sodium in it. Absolutely hate sodium.
My friend got the yaki soba and it tasted like lo mien from a cheap Chinese restaurant.
The sushi looks more appetizing though. I want to go back, get their sushi and follow up on the review. -

Definitely the best of the three Japanese places in South Orange. Nice atmosphere, great service, and tasty food. Prices are on the mid-to-high end, but I think it's worth it here.
I had the seared sesame tuna appetizer, which was pretty good, and then the boyfriend and I split several rolls. They have a nice selection of vegetarian rolls, including a veggie phoenix roll with avocado on the outside, and the kampyo roll which was made with avocado, pickled gourd, and tempura crunchies and was surprisingly tasty.
We were there with a pretty big table of about 10 people, and they split the bill into three separate checks without blinking. Will definitely come here the next time I want sushi in S. Orange... -

Excellent fresh delicious sushi. The Japanese fried oysters were amazing as were the gioza. My friend had the seafood teriyaki which he loved and my other friend and I had sushi. I recommend the lobster roll. Great staff here as well.

I trekked through the Lincoln Tunnel on a Friday night to meet my girls ( who are all Bridge & Tunnel girls now, except me) for dinner. We had our own private room which was great for the cackling that went on. The restaurant is a bring your own bottle. Which allowed us the oppty to go through three bottles. I had 1.5 since I was driving. I was hungry from the start and since it was nippy, opted for a Miso Soup to start off the eating. We also ordered shrimp and crab shumai. Which I have to say was nice and light but ohhhh so delish.
I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and a soft shell crab roll. Can u say stuffed, and pleasantly surprised for a suburban restaurant across the river. ( Yes I have become a bit of a snob, in regards to good eats outside of the city. I always associate the burbs with Chain restaurants). But I have to say this place pleasantly surprised me. My girls were all in a terriyaki mode. They had salmon, chicken and shrimp I believe. One of them, ventured out and had the bento box, which I believe she was happy with.
Ariyoshi has an attentive and patient staff. We did close the restaurant that night, and they were very courteous with our girl banter. I would definitely return.
