Review from Kim T.
Why have I never been here before? Man am I late.
The layout of the restaurant is very nice. Half off rolls? Hold upppppp.
I ordered the Hungry (5stars) and the Spider (3stars). the Hungry was very good, the albacore was a plus. the spider was just okay, i have had better, i wish i had a chance to taste more of the soft shell crab instead of waiting for the end of the rolls.
customer service was great, luckily, i was just about to sip all of my water and get my boyfriends water until my server came and refilled it for me.
I will definitely be back for those half off sushi rolls. you can count on that. -

This gets a 5 because of the price to quality ratio. There are certainly better sushi restaurants in Sacramento but not at this price!

I like the decor, met a very pretty woman wearing the cutest dress, met yet another nice young man practicing drumming with his chopsticks, loved the decor ...the service was very friendly and efficient...but what's up with the food?
IMO it was mediocre at best, but I did have a great time otherwise with all the nice people I met.....
I am going back to Hokkaido's ...... -

The food is decent and their happy hour menu is alright. Tried to get an extra discount by being a CSUS alumni, which didn't fly. HAHA
I doubt I would return. Only because it was extremely cramped/crowded when I last dined here. -
Review from Thuong D.
I like this place. All rolls are half off, but keep in mind you get what you pay for. Don't be surprised when the rolls come out and it's half the size you were expecting. Half price, half the amount of raw fish. Fair enough.
My favorite rolls are: macho (has asparagus and cream cheese), hungry (has caramelized onions), aloha (has jalapeños), and super mario (has sautéed onions). -

Berkeley, CA
Even by Sac standards, this Japanese restaurant is utter crap. Their fish has been frozen, thawed, and re-frozen so many times, there's no distinguishable difference in taste or texture between the tuna and tai. Their chef's choice sushi boat includes no hamachi, but plenty of escolar, the junk fish that causes epic runs. The rolls are thin, the rice is overly refrigerated and undercooked, the service is spotty, and the interior is gaudy. Truly, one of the worst places for Japanese style food.

I told myself I wouldn't come back after I had a bad experience a while back. After a night of savage sprints at hot italian, some friends suggested we get sushi here. Showed up and realized how fancy they place was now. It now looked like a legit crappy sushi restaurant that wanted to look cool and sold rolls that tasted exactly the same anywhere else. Oh hey, that's exactly what it is. Food here is pretty much the same as it was with my bad experience. Rolls were look and some so big it was difficult to eat.
Overall, food still wasn't that great and the half prices won't bring me back. -

Sacramento, CA
So obsessed with this place! I'm no sushi buff, so if it looks like sushi and has a sauce, I'm sold. The half off thing totally lures me in. The rolls are delicious, and I will be coming back again sometime next week.
If Arigato came to midtown and stayed open til 3am on weekends.... oh my god. Things would get pretty graphic up in there... -
Review from Dez B.
We started coming here when we moved to Sacramento back in 2005. We moved back to the Bay Area in 2009 and it seems like every time we're in Sac to visit my dad and have dinner here it keeps getting bigger and bigger! Anyhow, the rolls are always half off and they never seem to disappoint me with their quality of food...except for the last time when I ordered a hamachi hand roll and the fish tasted funny..but it's ok bc I told our waitress and ordered something else - no questions asked. I think the fact that I still like to eat here when I'm in town shows how much I like this place.
Be ready for a wait if you go during prime eating hours! -

This is one best sushi restaurants in Sacramento area! Rolls are half off all the time. Fish is really fresh, great staff, cool environment.

Review from Jason G.
For a "half off" sushi place, it's pretty good though I think their rolls are over sauced. The fish seemed fresh but the quantity was average at best. The Aloha has spicy tuna, seared albacore, and jalapeno but really wasn't that spicy at all; the albacore was very good. The 49'er had d.f. shrimp, cream cheese, salmon, and lemon; the lemon gave it great taste but the roll fell apart a bit.
Overall good ambiance and really crowded.Listed in: Best Sushi

I don't know what else you want from a sushi restaurant.
First off, their rolls seem to always be half priced. You can walk in there, order a roll, a beverage and miso soup, and only pay about $10. That's a score. You have to come here at the right time, or there is literally no where to sit. It's always so packed. It's a little difficult sometimes to get into the parking lot, but once you get in the restaurant, it is well worth it. Everyone is friendly and attentive.
Try the Pink Lady. You won't be disappointed. -
Review from Karen C.
When I'm in the area, I can't help but to come here for some sushi!!
I usually order the sexy and crazy horse (the only rolls that are not fried), but delicious nonetheless!!! Also, you can't forget their house salad with their honey-sesame dressing, a salad I order every time I eat here.
Come check this place out when you're in the area!!! -

Nigiri ordered - Salmon, Unagi, and Hamachi - mmm good. The spicy edamame was also freaking tasty....could not stop munching on these.
The wait was a pain, the atmosphere is a bit too trendy but the food was really good. -

Sacramento, CA
First off. I am not "cool" enough for this place. It feels super trendy and club like. The music playing was, according to my dining partners, popular but I couldn't identify any of it. The decor was super hip and TVs were everywhere.
We ordered a bunch of sushi rolls, well we thought we did... Our first order was a set of 6 rolls, each person picked one, and I ordered two for good measure. Good thing too, cause the rolls were embarrassingly small. We sat, mouths agape, wondering if this was a joke. Seems like most of the "ordinary" rolls are pretty small. If you want a larger roll, find one that has 8+ ingredients listed and has a ridiculous name. We had to order two more rolls
Over all, the quality was alright. I ordered a bullshit roll called the Super Mario, which was a bunch of fried stuff wrapped in rice with mushrooms piled on top. I usually never order anything so heinous as something like that, but my judgment slipped, and I ordered just based on name without reading what it actually was.
I guess this is a great place to hang out with friends and eat sushi and whatever. I just can't associate sushi with that kind of scene. -

So so so so GOOD! Mochi (spelling) is one of the sushi chefs and he is so sweet! He always makes us some delicious sushi, as does everyone else that works there! They just remodeled too! It looks like a night club in there! :)
If you want a big roll, sit at the sushi bar and through the sushi chefs... Real sushi eaters should know that rule by now.... -

Extremely cheap sushi. Also pretty low quality. But I'll still come back just because it's so darn cheap.

For a "half off" sushi place, the rolls are smaller than average and the fish smells! I guess.... you get what you pay for? Who would pay $14.00 for a dragon roll? Oh, forgot it's half off and half the taste??!!

The atmosphere is nice. Young decoration. But the food is just ok, a little on a "too sweet" side for me, the sauce & rice are sweet. The price for their rolls are alwasy half off but rolls size is small, quality is just "ok". It's a place for young crowd who would enjoy a roll of rice with sweet sauce and doesn't know much about the quality of fish. You get what you pay for.

Love the lights, Yummy Yummy, the spicy rolls that aren't really that spicy if you know what spicy is, and the 50% off sushi.

I have been coming here for years (ever since Wow Sushi closed.) I have always enjoyed my experience here. Anyone who has been coming here for a very long time knows that they have undergone several facelifts and remodels. I must admit I miss the atmosphere of the old Arigato, but I assume that the continued changes mean that the restaurant itself is doing well.
Yes...it is constantly packed with the Sac State crowd (hey I used to be one of them!)
Yes...the staff gets busy and a little inattentive (they will remake your roll if it comes out wrong)
Yes...there is a lot of "americanized" sushi on the menu (last time I checked I am an american)
But all rolls are 50% off all the time! Can you beat that?!?! I used to come here with family and friends quite often and we almost always enjoyed our meals. It is great because everyone can order whatever they want and the bill won't put anyone in the poor house.
Its a little off the grid for my normal purposes, so I don't go here often anymore. However, I would never balk at the chance to go here again. They also have some of the most delicious salad dressing ever! I always ask for it on the side and sometimes I even dip my rolls in it!! -

I've been to this place a few times, but I usually just order take out because the service really sucks.
The last time I went here I was with my mom, they gave us someone else's credit card and trying to get in contact with just a waitress just took forever. In the past I had issues with them even being rude because of how busy they get, but doesn't really excuse how they treat a customer.
I usually just order sushi when I go there, and sometimes an occasional bento box. I really love the Crazy Horse and Orange Blossom rolls which I typically order. It's pretty awesome that they do the 50% thing for rolls as well. -

Folsom, CA
Arigato's, you let me have sushi even when I'm on a budget. For that, I thank you.
Arigato has a 50% deal off most of their rolls. This is probably why I keep coming back. Yes, the rolls are a bit smaller than most places, but the sushi is worth the price. I don't have any particular favorites. I usually rely on Yelp (thanks Yelp!), but everything we order is always above average.
Their new decor is contemporary and hip. They play the top 40 and house music while you stuff your face. They have cheap oyster shooters and sake bombs!!! I love that. I go here when I want to save some money, eat sushi, and have drinks all at the same time without feeling too guilty.
While it's not the best sushi joint in town, it has everything in the formula to keep me a regular. -

Always a blast whenever my group makes a stop here which is usually once a week even though I usually do not eat sushi due to allergic reactions n don't stray far from the chicken Teri rolls n sea weed salad the spicy Johnny fair oaks yummy yummy are a knock out they always give me a ton of red ginger which Is a huge plus because that's usually all I eat the whole crew is wonderful we do miss Daniella, Kim , Jenny, n Jason but the new crew is doing a great Job as well
Sake bombs for the win -
Review from Devona Y.
It got a nice feel to it when you walk in. From the outside you wouldn't think that the inside would look that nice.
It is pretty crowded in there. The space is small and the tables are fairly near each other. But I'm fine with that.
The service can be quite slow but they are fast on water. lol.
I did have a server that forgot one of my friend's roll so I wasn't really happy about that. Because when I eat I like everyone to have their food before everyone starts digging in.
The prices on the sushi says it's a higher price than it really is because all sushi rolls are 50% off all the time . The quality of the rolls aren't bad either.
You can never go wrong with arigato's for sushi rolls. :) -

Since my last review, they have remodeled (again) and expanded to about double the size. It's constantly packed, but I've never had a wait past 10-15 minutes. They turned down the music and the rolls are still delicious and fresh.
I love this place. Love, love, love it.
It's trendy, but it's some of the best sushi in Sacramento, hands down.
The service is super quick and efficient and much more welcoming.1 Previous Review: Show all »

My husband and I went here recently for lunch. The food was great, our server was funny. The only reasons I gave 4 instead of 5 stars were the wait and the music. It definitly caters to the college crowd. Overall, we enjoyed our experience.

West Sacramento, CA
After hearing so many people rave about this place, I decided to check it out again with my girlfriend the other night, having not been here in more than five years. And I must say, I was very impressed from the moment I walked in. They have completely remodeled the whole restaurant. It does not look anything like I remembered it. The decor is very very nice. The contemporary design throughout the restaurant, as well as the layout was very very impressive. They have plenty more tv's throughout the restaurant, as well as a few projectors projecting sporting events on their dark walls. The tables and chairs were very contemporary as well, and fit in really nicely with the decor of the restaurant.
Now that I've got my inner Ted Mosby (Architecture nerd from the show 'How I Met Your Mother') out of my system, now on to the food. When I used to dine here in college, I recalled the rolls were small. I would have to order 4 or 5 rolls by myself to even feel full, but that is not the case now. The rolls are not huge, but decent sized, and they are very filling. The presentation of the sushi looks much better than they used to. Back then, it felt like it was just a fast food sushi joint the way they were presented. My personal favorite is the Lucky 7 and the Howe Roll.
Oh, and one very important thing that hasn't changed from the past is that all of the sushi rolls are 50% off. My girl and I got 5 rolls and we ended up only paying $33! It was definitely worth every cent for the sushi, and decor designs! -
Review from Morgan B.
Sacramento, CA
I've been coming here for a longtime and there's a reason I keep coming back, half off sushi with good fresh tasting rolls. They have the best miso I've had, I'm kinda picky when it comes to miso soup. They remodeled awhile back and it looks really good and modern inside now. They recently got new menus as well which look much better and have pictures of the food which is nice if you haven't been here before.
I usually come with one other person and we get 2-3 rolls a miso and drink and pay $6-13 each. Very reasonable pricing!
I used to always get the K.K. Special ( roll with d.f. shrimp, avocado inside and scallop on top with sauce) but last time I got it the scallops seemed more gooey and mushy, which turned me off.
Lately I've been getting the cherry blossom ( salmon, avo inside, fresh tuna with sauce on top) it's very fresh and tasty without filling you up too much.
My other favorites are:
Noel (d.f. shrimp, cream cheese inside, salmon, tuna spicy sauce on top)
Howe ( d.f. shrimp, avo, crabmeat inside, fresh tuna with sauce on top)
Volcanic Scallop (baked roll with scallop and sauce on top, crabmeat and avo inside)
Downside:
Gets really busy at night, since it's the only sushi place opened late, but at least it's open late (until midnight).
The service isn't bad, they are nice and pretty fast, but could be more friendly. They have gotten better service over the years though, my mom and I used to say if the food and prices weren't so good we wouldn't come, because the servers don't bring you in. They are a bit shy and seem to take your order because it's there job, not to really take care of you.
I've been coming here probably once a month for the past few years or so and none of the servers have ever introduced themselves or bothered to get my name. I assume they recognize me, but who knows.
The guys who make the sushi however, are very friendly. I've sat at the sushi bar a few times when it's just me and another person and the guys talk to you and if you talk back they're really nice and even give you your sushi directly, rather than the server bringing it to you.
Everyone says bye and thank you when you leave though which is nice.
I've gotten take-out several times and it always tastes great! .50 charge for take-out orders though, just FYI
I would love to give Arigatos 5 stars, but it needs to step up its service in order for me to.
Love the food and prices though, hard to beat :) -

Come by when there's happy hour and the rolls are 50% off! When is happy hour you ask??
All. Day. Every. Day.
Woohoo! But you can imagine that this place gets really crowded on the weekends.
Restaurant itself is VERY very nice; it's modern and dark with fancy neon lights on the inside and they have ipads for your entertainment while you wait for a table.
The baked rolls are delicious (esp. the scallop one *drooooll*) but they get really heavy with the mayo so it's a good idea to maybe split it with someone and get a different roll to balance it out...but that's just IMO!
Service was quick and my waitress was perky and fun, which put our table in a good mood. Even when we found wasabi in one of our water cups, and the waitress was completely mortified, we were able to laugh it off. Haha :P -
Review from Vicky Q.
You can never go wrong with arigatos. One main attraction is their half off all rolls deal that they have everyday. Its what brought me in and what will keep me going.
They have remodeled the place in the last two years or so and the inside looks more like a nightclub which is fun.
The food is usually pretty good. I love their sea steak and most rolls are pretty good and a decent size.
Service is also usually good, ladies are always nice. They also stay open pretty late until midnight which is nice to satisfy late night cravings.
Sushi is probably my favorite food and there are other places that are better like mikunis but arigatos is a cheaper alternative when you don't want to spend that extra cash. -

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto! Domo! domo. Domo! domo. Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto!
Nestled away in a randomn shopping center, this place was recommended by a local for cheap Sushi and it did not disappoint. For 25$ my companion and I ordered FOUR rolls! In the evenings all rolls are 50% off, which is completely insane. At first, we thought it was only 50% off for takeout orders, but we only realized that we were wrong when we got the bill...which clearly showed 50% off!
The rolls were decently sized and the quality was okay. Don't expect top notch quality but for the price it is definitely worth it. I was a little scared I'd get sick but I did not have a single problem.
I don't believe this place is Japanese-owned but whatever...since I have friends in the area I'll likely be back again. The menu is huge and the service is pretty attentive, although I was kind of annoyed since the waitress seemed like she was hurrying us and the tables are really close together, but that's a minor issue.
The decor is comfy and clean -- what's not to like!? Overall definitely a great place for cheap sushi that won't give you the runs! :) -

Food was okay, but our server was horrible. I haven't seen my family in awhile so we were still chatting after we paid. The server didn't bother to take our plates off the table yet was quick to snatch the $5 bill that I put on the table in between my cousin and I. Excuse me, but how do you know that was for you? What if I was planning on giving that to my aunt? Maybe I wanted change? Honestly, you need to reevaluate your server Minie.

I work in the Arden area and Arigatos is always the coworkers favorite for sushi. Food is decent and rolls are always half off.
The place remodeled a while back to be more hip and contemporary. Initially most people get a bit confused as to whether they just walked into a club or restaurant as they're greeted with flashy lights, black walls, silver bamboo sticks, and house music. I usually come here during lunchtime when the place first opens for the day (at 11:30) and as a warning, theres always a bleach-y smell in the air, it's a bit of a kick at first but slowly fades.
As for the food, the menu is pretty balanced however I usually just go for a bento box or roll. I highly recommend the sesame chicken as an appetizer or with a bento box. If you like onions you HAVE to try to the Hungry roll; seared albacore topped with grilled onions, its drenched in sauce but its sooo good.
Of the multiple occasions I've visited, the service has always been mediocre to under par. When it gets a bit busy they may forget to fulfill requests for sauces or drink refills. Also, the kitchen can sometimes take FOREVER to bring out certain orders during peak time. On two instances our table had almost finished our meals before they brought out our last order. Despite those vices the staff is generally always friendly. During a birthday dinner, they were very accommodating and brought out our cake happily lit along with extra plates and utensils.
Decent sushi for a decent price with the occasional flaky service. -

WHAT A HIDDEN GEM THIS PLACE IS. I would not have expected such a nicely decorated and ambient environment in this strip mall across from the Howe bout Arden shopping center. Came here with a friend for dinner one evening and realized that not only are the rolls decently priced, most of them are 50% off!
We started with the spicy edamame. Now I'm a huge fan of Freaky Edamame at Mikuni and Taro's, but this was pretty good! Full of flavor and definitely spicy, this was the perfect appetizer to get our mouths watering for the sushi that was to come. There are SO MANY rolls too choose from - also look out on the chalkboards and other bulletins that advertise newer/special rolls. We ordered the Howe, Fair Oaks, TNT and Lucky 7. All rolls were perfect in size, 50% off and delicious! We easily polished off our plates. The best part of it all? The tab was about $30. If we were up for it, adding sake or other drinks wouldn't have burnt a hole in our pockets.
Great food, great price. I'll be back for sure. -

I'm updating my experience(s) here, but the rating for me is still not quite 5 stars. The sushi has definitely gotten better, as well as the decor since it's obviously been upgraded over the past year. Here's my problem now: SERVICE!!!!
I've been here at least 3 times since the remodeling and while the sushi has gotten better (they've added new ones and improved mediocre ones, i've noticed -- i have some new favorites), some of the prices went up (50% off doesn't do much anymore, it's now just a slogan to get you to come eat here) and the service is so shitty it's not even funny.
If the sushi wasn't good, i wouldn't bother coming here. i've been in busier restaurants with better service -- the waitresses seriously have no excuses for never checking on our table, forgetting what rolls we ordered and turning a 1-hour dinner into a 2-hour dinner all because she didn't put our order in on time. People who came in AFTER us were getting their food BEFORE us! wtf... and it never fails, it's happened all 3 times i came back here after the remodeling. Each time is a different type of "shitty' service.
They're gaining an extra star for improving everything else .. but otherwise, their service is WHACK. I only come for the food .. LOL.1 Previous Review: Show all »

LOVE THIS PLACE! 50% off rolls all day every day?! Too awesome.
They have delicious oyster shooters (oyster, tobiko, green onions, ponzu, sake)
The service is great and my favorite rolls include all the spicy ones: spicy johnny, aloha, spicy crunch, TNT and sexy.
The decor and ambiance is nice too, it's chic with rainbow neon lights, sort of looks like a lounge or nightclub. -

Hyped up place pretty much disappointed. We got seated in the back and it was as if they forgot about our table. It was crowded, so the order took forever to come out, but the sushi was really poorly wrapped. It fell apart when I picked it up and the tempura was all soggy as if it was sitting there for awhile.
Service was super slow but polite and decent. It was 50% off the rolls tonight so I guess you get what you pay for, so it seems. -
