Can we say "No thank you".
I have to admit, the service was excellent, but it did not make up for the spicy cigarette *ahem* tuna tasting like Peg Bundy just cooked it.
The rolls were very small, especially for the price they're at.
I probably would not come back to this place... ever.
I moved to Azusa not long ago and longed to find a local Japanese place to satiate my sushi needs. Truthfully I did not want to go to Arigato at first mainly bacause they couldn't spell teriyaki(they spelled it tereyaki) right on the banner in front of the restaraunt. You can honestly tell that it is not authentic sushi from the name and decore. But alas, high gas prices and plain laziness compelled me to give it a try.
My verdict: Horrible at best. This Korean owned Japanese restaraunt serves sushi to people who dont know better. The low quality fish and small portions are reminiscent of gas station sushi. So if you are in the area and crave sushi, I suggest you take the 210 west to Arcadia, at least.
I felt this place was just OK. I did get take out and that should not make a difference in the quality of food and I hope it didn't. I got the Bento which came with California Rolls and I think that was the worse part. I did not even want to eat them. How can a you mess up a California Roll. They were cut too thin and it made them look shriveled. The teriyaki chicken had a good flavor, but it also came with noodles that were not appetizing at all.
The place did seem very cozy and had a nice atmosphere, but I don't think I would go there again.
I come here thinking it would be a below average japanese restaurant since this is in Azusa. In the end, that bubble was burst, if the grading scale went beyond F, this place is a Z.
I ordered some random stuff to see how the general food is, and as a safety, some unagi. I thought there was no way someone could mess up unagi, but they somehow made my unagi taste like fishy play-doh. The slice of eel was thinner than a sardine and only the gammy parts were left-hence the playdoh. The food was pastey and I regurgitated a little bit of the food since it was just that bad.
The portions of seafood in the sushi were even sadder, if you are going to serve me horrible food, at least give it in quantity, I won't eat it but at least I can give it away to the homeless folk, but even than, they would probably throw it back at me....just that horrible.
True this place is Korean owned or run...whichever. But the food is still good and tasty. I have had no issues with the sushi or the portions. The Albacore in Love is really good and it's enough to keep me going back.
This is a very cute restaurant. Its a small "dive- like" place. It has lots of character. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. They have interesting looking rolls (like the crunch roll) but are tasty. The service is excellent (good reason to keep going back) the waitress and sushi chef are super nice people. Its not the best sushi I've had but its not the worst. I usually get the "love boat" which comes with miso soup, salad, (love the dressing) rice, 6-8 pieces of California rolls and spicy tuna rolls, tempura, beef and chicken teriyaki, and sashimi for 40 bucks and it feeds 2 people. Overall its a great place to eat and hang out. I'll definitely keep on going back.
I would say this place has one of the best special rolls i've seen out of all the places i've been too since my introduction into sushi not too long ago in 2001. I would say that the place is quite old but makes up for it in service and quality. The chef at the place was very inviting and the server I had during the evening "Terry" was very polite and interested in my party. She served us extra green tea ice cream because we carried a conversation with her about her children and their business together with her husband at the restaurant. The combination box was great and I also had a great time visiting their website getting their coupon to make the deal even slicker. Overall, it's a nice casual place to try and something different to be had when all the food we usually eat were sandwiches and bagels.
