Our waiter at the time was simply fantastic. He was helpful, patient and in a good humor. During our stay in Kalamazoo, we actually made a point of it to visit them twice in two days. The first time for dinner, and the next day for lunch.

For the first night we ordered Bubble and Squeak as an appetizer, and Guinness Beef and Shepard's Pie as entrees. The B 'n Squeak was simply fantastic. How a dish of pan fried mashed potatoes with chopped bits of bacon and onion in it, serves alongside a ham steak has not emerged itself completely into American culture is beyond me.

The Guinness Beef was also fantastic. The meat was tender, the sauce the perfect consistency and amount. It was overall a delectable experience. The Shepard's Pie on the other hand was bland and awful. It was piping hot yet crusted over and completely tasteless.  It was ground beef inside a bowl with "gravy" and a pie crust on top, for $15.  Enough said.

The portions were small and a little pricey, depending on your dish, but following a performance of Bubble and Squeak and Guinness Beef, we wanted to come back to try it all once more.

The next day we arrived mid-day for lunch. Not only did we notice a greatly truncated menu (at roughly the same price) we both decided on Meatloaf accompanied by Bubble and Speak.

If we had thought the Shepherd's Pie were bland, we should have known better with entrusting them to handle another ground meat centered dish. It was dry and bland and a complete waste of caloric intake.

The staff the following day was mediocre, a lot less attentive and friendly which definitely added to the dampening of our experience.

Went here with my British partner (lived in the UK for almost 40 years) thinking there would be some "like home" meals, some of which I (American) greatly enjoy too.

We were very disappointed. It was a strange mix of flavors on the menu and in the food we ordered. Both of our meals were definitely, definitely not worth the price we paid.

Service was ok, not fabulous. Atmosphere was good.

Dessert (Sticky toffee pudding) was super though!

London Grill is ok, but overall quite disappointing and overpriced.

English fare, is so so.  Not their fault as it's a bland culture in terms of food.  I stick with their indian fare and usually enjoy what I get.  Their beer selection is pretty extensive too.

One of the better selections of beer, both local and imported, in Kalamazoo. The last time we went we had terrible service, but I'll be coming back to try some of their main courses. I had one of their desserts (the sticky toffee pudding) and it was great! It'd be nice if they had a better listing of prices on the menu because we didn't see them on ours and our waiter was completely unhelpful about how much our drinks and fries.

Edited March 30, 2009:
I went here again with different friends a month or so ago and ordered a side of fries. They cost $0.50 last time I went (the price isn't on the menu); this time they cost $5 something. What? I'll have my imported English beer at home from now on, thanks.

Irish colonial grill restaurant with atmosphere. Good service.  Live music on weekend. Simple flavorful Irish pub food with Indian-Asian twist.
Four of my favorite from the menu:
Stilton Steak:
9-10oz sirloin topped with a bleu cheese walnut butter (Port wine and blue cheese butter in Kalamazoo).  Grilled vegetables and bubble (potato pancake) on the side with soda bread.

Guinness Beef:
braised with Guinness beer and brown sugar, served in a bowl with peas, carrots, and soda bread.

Whitefish Grenoble:
A fillet of whitefish dusted w/seasoned flour, sauted and topped with Grenoble (a mixture of capers, diced lemons, and diced tomatoes warmed in butter).

And best Fish and Chips in KAZ.

3.3 stars ( go Plainwell if you could!, much better food with good service)

All I can say is that when we made this the 9th hole for bar golf and a lightweight with us barfed on the bar they were pretty cool about it.
