The atmosphere is french country/rustic, nice bar, art, upholstered benches. It's cozy and elegant, but not at all snobby. the menu is thoughtfully balanced between traditional favorites and new, but equally delicious dishes. Arielle's Sunday brunch is not just the best food in the Hudson Valley for brunch, but also the most inclusive prefix menu. The waiters are very accommodating and not that it really matters, but they're mostly all beautiful as well. Oh stop, no one wants to be waited on by a water buffalo. I've eaten here about ten times and honestly cannot fault them on anything. That's rare for me, this is my first 5 star rating. Arielle? FUCK YEAH !!

My boyfriend has a lot more negative things to say about this place than I do. I went for my birthday dinner and I, personally, enjoyed my time.

I guess what my boyfriend was turned off by was the fact that the moment we walked in, the owner asked us, "do you have a reservation?" and we responded, "yes, for two." the owner then replied with, "are you serious?" as if we were lying or something. first red flag.

secondly, we were the only ones in the restaurant as it was a tuesday night and very slow. I guess the "servers" thought it was acceptable to invite friends over and take photos with a SUPER BRIGHT FLASH on their iPhone 4's and playing loud music on their cell phones. we didn't like that they didn't maintain their professionalism even if it was only one table being served.

overall, good meal. sweetbreads and duck dishes were amazing. we ordered the grilled sardines which were delicious, but they only give you two fish for $12.00. the bread is the best I've had (other than here at CIA, of course) at a restaurant.

maybe re-train the servers or possibly hire a more mature staff who know when and when not to f*ck around.

I'm writing this a few months after going here (it's been a busy February-March).  I had the prix fixe meal, and it was all right, but I can't, for the life of me, tell you what it was (which means it wasn't particularly memorable).  However, I do remember the fly problem (which other reviewers have mentioned as well).

On a recent impromptu visit to Rhinebeck our fave French place - Le Petit Bistro was booked solid on a Saturday night, so we decided to try Arielle.

I love the setting and decor of this French-style brasserie.  You have your choice of dining in the main dining room, which has more of a French country feel, or in the attached room which is more traditional brasserie with red leather banquettes and tons of mirrors.

We simply love the ambiance of this place, lovely decor, great French music playing, candles on the table and a menu exactly what one would expect from a French brasserie.

Though the wine list was extensive, there are certainly NOT enough French wine by glass selections.  I think they'd do well to put a Bordeaux, Cote du Rhone or a Pinot Noir by the glass on the menu.

Since it was a hot day, we both chose a Torrontes, which was delicious and refreshing and went perfectly with both our dinners.  I will say for the $10 price tag, you get very generous pours.

Our server, John was absolutely fantastic - this only added to our experience,  He was very knowledgable about the food and wines, including what would pair well.  He knew we liked our wine, so he went out of his way to write it down on a card for us to take with us!

We shared a classic mesclun salad, with a goat cheese crostini ($8).  I enjoyed a chicken tagine served with dried apricots, olives and carrots over couscous that was laced with saffron ($18), which was so large, I took half home.  My husband had tagliarini arabiata with shrimp ($16), which is absolutely loved.

All of our dishes were flavorful, perfectly cooked and delicious.

    We will definitely be back!

What an outstanding surprise! My research partner and I headed to Rhinebeck after a long day at the FDR Archives. We fully intended to go to Yelp favorite Aroi, but found it closed with a hand-written sign on the window saying as much. Exhausted and hungry, we decided to try the darling looking French bistro nearby.

Wow! We were immediately greeted by a Mark Ruffalo-like waiter (super charming, very mellow, terribly cute, and talented to boot) and seated at a comfortable table for two. The tap water we ordered was served as readily as an expensive glass of wine would have been. Yay for great service!! Fresh baked bread with an herbed olive oil for dipping wasn't far behind.

My friend ordered the gazpacho special for an appetizer; it was excellent. I ordered the goat cheese-stuffed squash blossom on mescalun greens and baby tomatoes. HOLY LORD it was exquisite!! For dinner, my friend had a ridiculously yummy bleu cheese burger served with fries & aioli and a salad. Nice! I was craving something simple and comforting, and after learning the poultry comes from a local farm I ordered the roasted half chicken & frites. It was truly lovely. The skin had been crisped. It was cooked perfectly and served in a manner that made it easy to cut and eat. It really was perfect.

For dessert we each had a cappuccino, which was a perfect size for evening, along with the dessert special (Apple Tatin--how could we resist with Ruffalo's spitting image suggesting it??). Absolutely lovely. Perfectly caramelized on top and bottom. Dollop of fresh, softly whipped cream on the side.

With only one more full day in the region of the FDR Archives, we decided to spend our last night back at Arielle--and made reservations for tomorrow!

Thank you, Arielle, for a truly lovely evening.

I came here for lunch. There was a prix-fixe menu with several choices. I ordered some weirdly-thought-out dish that sounded better on the menu than it turned out in real life. It was a shrimp skewer (only three shrimp- see picture) with some kind of dense, toasted, pita-like bread. What am I supposed to do with this??? Also, there was a dish of chickpeas which I do not remember for anything other than the fact that it was a weird combination. It was also served with a vinaigrette which also seemed out of place. Was it supposed to go on the shrimp? With the salad? With the chickpeas?

My mom ordered the steak-frites and enjoyed it.

The lunch included a dessert which was a fantastic end to a weird entree.

Food was actually pretty good.  Service was the worst I've seen in years.  Lots and lots of flies.  In our food, in our wine, in our faces.  Will never go back!  The health department should really inspect this place!

Excellent, creative food prepared to perfection. The lobster fettucini is a surprisingly tiny serving, but also, because it's so rich, surprisingly filling if you get an appetizer & dessert as well .  The Branzino is one of my favorite seafoods - it's flavorful, and very delicate.  The salads I've tried are remarkable with their tangy dressings over a melange (no not a ma'nage, that's for dessert!) of crisp garden fresh greens, far more rewarding to enjoy than the average dinner salads that are an afterthought.   If Roberto's in the kitchen, It goes up a notch from there.  He's a master at preparing dishes to present at their best possible level.

I dined with a charming gentleman at Arielle in Rhinebeck. We were seated at a small table in the front window - perfect for two people watchers!

When we sat down the charming gentleman ordered us a bottle of Prosecco (frequent readers know my love of the Italian sparkling wine) plus a bottle of Zinfandel to be opened and start breathing. All of this was so lovely - the presentation of said bottles perhaps left a little to be desired. But none of that mattered, we were about to have a darling meal and a wonderful evening together.

We decided to start with some appetizers while we figured out what we wanted for our entrees.  So my gentleman chose the caprese salad, the grilled sardines and the grilled octopus special. OK. Sardines! I happen to love them, but not everyone does - it was a bold move for him to order them I think. Our three plates came out, and normally I would tear into them, but I was enjoying our conversation and our drinks and I might have behaved like a lady this time.

After we finished all of those we still weren't able to decide on our entrees, so we ordered one more appetizer - a Mediterranean salad plate. Because why not?! Who doesn't just order one more dessert? The waitress must have thought that we were absolutely nuts.

The waitress came back over to let us know that the kitchen would be closing in ten minutes so we had to make a quick decision about out entrée. We decided to share the diver scallops. They were cooked perfectly and delicious.

We split a delightful lemon tart for dessert with two glasses of limoncello.

I was here last Sunday for brunch. There was a price fixed menu with approximately 10 dishes and a choose of bloody mary, mimosa, etc.

bloody mary: pros: very good, in a pint glass, walked away a bit tipsy
cons: i had to ask is I could get a drink. my boyfriend and i    sat down and were IGNORED for at least 10 minutes until I finally starred down the waitress and she realized she was at work. The restuarant was semi busy but there were many, many, many waiters/waitresses, quite over staffed.

food: pros: what we got was good (omlette with smocked salmon, some weird sour cream on top, eh, and 2 sunnyside up eggs, bacon and ONE piece of toast. The omelette had a side of greens which were soooo bitter i could barely swallow them. no potatos, bread, etc. $15 for a meal, eh. way to pricy for 2 eggs and bacon.

after we finished we really wanted to get out of there but again were ignored for 10-15 minutes until i had to yell across the restuarant for the bill. took forever to get the bill and then flipped it over only to find a bill for $75!! completely incorrect and took another 15 minutes to sort it out.

overall, we were fed up. not worth the money or the annoyance.

A lovely evening in Rhinebeck was spent at Arielle. The restaurant is decorated beautifully with muted tones, strong accent colors and comfy pillow on the banquettes. Old paintings of various shapes and sized line the walls.

We ordered for an appetizer the Crispy Sauteed Artichoke Hearts. I was expecting more of a traditional Carciofi Fritti but these were not that. They were canned, briney and not very remarkable. I know they were canned as the liquid came out of them when I cut in. They were in some kind of caper mayo sauce which must have been intended to cut the brineyness but it did not work. It was obvious the hearts were not fresh. On the menu it said garlic, lemon and parsley but I do not recall that.

My main dish was the Black Taglioline, shrimp, spicy tomato, olives, capers, sage and white wine. I have always been a fan of squid ink pasta and the anticipation was high for what has been a memorable dish for me in other restaurants. The shrimp were a little overcooked and the whole dish was a bit salty as if they added extra salt to the already saline ingredients so I found it a bit distracting. The pasta was in a heap on the plate and appeared to have fallen apart between cooking vessel and plate. The portion size was perfect though if I really liked it, I would have wanted more.

I would give them another chance as the atmosphere is really charming and the service was excellent and the prices fair for Rhinebucks, I mean Rhinebeck. So 3.5 stars with hopes for a better food experience the next time.

Quaint, etc. Decent food but pricey. Just dropped 60$ on dinner for myself.  2 apps. Pasta. Dessert and a beer. I thought the gazpacho was delicious.  The avocado and shrimp app was OK but nothing to remember. Avocado wasnt completely ripe and it was drowned in sauce.  To be fair I was there late and kitchen was prob ready to bail.  The servers were very nice and friendly and thoughtful.  Wasn't overly impressed with the bartender, the older bald guy who seemed to be fairly condescending towards the staff.

Absolutely one of the worst meals Ive ever had.  Crouton on the soup was so stale that I couldn't break it with a knife, my guest was allergic to tomatoes, we specifically told the waitress this twice, when the burger came to the table that he had ordered of course there were tomatoes and ketchup on the burger! We then had to wait twenty minutes before the waitress returned to ask how the food was before we could return the burger! Not only was the food of poor quality but the dining room smelt like rotting food and there were flies everywhere!  I wouldn't go back ever, even if the food was free!

Some of the best Short Ribs I've had in my life!! The Angel Hair pasta was out of this world. With sauteed pieces of egg plant, shrimp and tomatoes thrown into the mix, it made it a delightful dish. The appetizers were amazing as well! The Mediterranean platter with hummus, Babagonush and skinned almonds was phenomenal. The Gnocchi brought a tear to my eye (really it did).  The lobster risotto was interesting, a little grainy but interesting. I found the wine selection designation of "not terrible, good, very good, exquisite to be hilariously accurate.

One negative note: If at all possible sit on the booth side of the tables, the chairs are rigid and bad for your back, and just plain uncomfortable.

Will definitely be returning here when I'm back in Rhinebeck, the Huntington of upstate NY :)

First let me begin by saying that the waitstaff and cooks were wonderful.  Very helpful, polite, and willing to go out of their way to help us.

The decor was nice, albeit somewhat dated.  Still, it had a somewhat comforting feeling.

I had dinner here a month or two ago.  The appetizers my date and I ordered were great.  The calamari was executed quite well, as was the salad my date enjoyed.  The entrees were lackluster.  My ordered the chicken paillard, which was somewhat of a disappointment.  It was; however, made specially for us, since they normally only offered it as part of their prix fixe menu.  I ordered a ribeye with bearnaise.  This was where my major disappoint was, the steak was not very well marbled, and my bearnaise had formed a nice thick skin on its surface by the time it had reached me.  Considering how expensive the meal was, over $100 for the two of us with only a few drinks.  I would have expected better execution.  Otherwise, the rest of the food was fine.

This place is fantastic.  We stopped in to try the $12, three course, lunch deal.  You have the option to start with either a soup or a salad.  We all had the soup, which was a hearty vegetable soup served with a perfect crostini.  It was delicious.  We also had an order of the calamari, which was also great.  The breading was perfect, and it was cooked to just the right doneness.  For the main, you have ab 8 different choices, from burgers to steak to grilled sardines.  All of our main courses were fantastic as well.  For dessert we had a choice of either creme brulee, or pot au chocolate.  Both were delicious.  Our entire experience here was excellent. The atmosphere - perfect.  The service - perfect.  The decor - perfect.  The food - perfect.  And all of this at an incredible value.  I will absolutely dine here again, and hopefully soon!

The service was amazing at this place...as well as the food. The food was expertly prepared and full of flavor...I had the Angus burger with the fresh fries....highly recommend...also the grilled sardines and the calamari were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. All of the servers were knowledgeable and friendly. Also they were able to point us in the direction of othere amazing restaurants in the area. I highly recommend Arielle, if you ever find yourself in the area....less than $20 for three courses and calamari at lunch...

This place might not get 5 stars in the city, but here in the middle of the nowhere, I think 5 stars is fair. Great service, nice decor, interesting menu, good selection of wines and cocktails. We shared the lamb osso bucco over risotto. We both foodgasmed with each bite. After I ordered my appetizer and entree, I asked the waiter to recommend a wine, which he did perfectly. While I don't particularly like meringue, the meringue dessert my boyfriend ordered really was heavenly and light after the rich entree we devoured. They sat us even though we snuck in about 2 minutes before the kitchen was about to closer and at no point were we rushed to finish eating and pay. Great romantic little spot. Definitely worth returning to next time I am upstate!

sophistacated plates reminded me of manhattan dining.  The staff was very polite and professional.  Although I wish the proportions were more I was satisfied with the detail to ingredients.  The wine I ordered was a disspointement, but the dessert made up for it.

It was Sunday night and all the CIA restaurants were closed, so we picked this place for dinner.  On the whole, not bad, but next time I would be all for trying a new place.  The bread was dry and tasted reheated.  The skate was perfectly fine and flavorful.  The bistro steak frite was okay:  the steak tasted a bit liver-y, but the frites were very good.  All in all, a bit of a yawn, but okay.
