Tasty bakery with great service! Lemon cream cupcakes are moist and delicious! Had to order a 10" lemon cream cake it took 2 days, well worth the wait. They give you free refills on ice tea. .

Aria rocks. Nestled in downtown Murphys, it's the perfect early morning stop for stellar pastries and a Mighty Leaf tea. As a former local (I grew up here), I can promise that you wont find a better bakery in Calaveras. Their sandwiches are perfect for your winery or river picnic and dont forget to go early and grab a cinnamon loaf for the rest of the week! Epic.

A friend and I rolled into town early one Sunday morning. We were early for a meeting and hoped that something was open for us to kill a little time. We found Aria's open door and stepped in.
The tiny store was jam packed with beautiful and delicious smelling baked goods. We couldn't resist but tried a couple of their savory crossants with some coffee. What a treat. The spinach ricotta and ham/cheese were both delicious. And the lattes had nicely crafted foam. We enjoyed our breakfasts watching the steady stream of people stopping by to pick up treats for Sunday morning.
We are ever so glad that they were open early and to have enjoyed this charming little shop. -

I really would like to give this place more stars than it deserves but not until they make a major change...
How would you like to buy a cobbler that have been landed on by flies??? ME think not! I was so excited to walk in to this place last Wednesday. It was a beautiful day outside and was cool enough to have a nice hot cup of coffee with some pastries. The goodies in the glass encased cabinet thingy looked great. As I looked on the top left of the counter where the cobbler and other goodies where stationed I saw several flies hopping along from treat to treat...I was immediately turned off!!! As nice as the lady behind the counter was, I couldn't stomach buying and eating what they're selling. I wasn't sure if I should say something...I opted on a scone that was inside the encased glass shelf.
How could you not see the flies flying inside your bakery? There were a couple of folded up plastic thing to shield the baked goods but it wasn't enough to completely cover them and protect them from those nasty, poop landing FLIES!
Owners: Please do something about this...you are potentially harming your costumers in consuming baked goods contaminated by flies. -

My son and I happened to be in Murphy's at about 9:30a and this was just about the only store open on Main Street. We stopped in to see what it had to offer and got an excellent, and super huge, ginger and molasses cookie and a cinnamon roll with a small milk.
I saw that they also had sandwiches so, when we were in the area the next day during lunch time, we stopped in again.
This time my son got the olive pizza Focaccia (it is NOT made with black olives so be forewarned if that's what you are expecting) and I got a half order BLT and the main street salad (I think it's called) but without the ham and turkey with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
My son didn't like the olives, too strong for him, but he loved the Focaccia pizza with just the cheese.
They had run out of the sourdough bread for the BLT so I had the sourdough roll and it was AMAZING, the best BLT I have ever had. Kind of on the small side with the roll but it was so worth it.
I had my doubts about the salad as vinaigrette dressing can be too strong but it was wonderful and, paired with the salad, it was amazing also.
We will definitely be back and I will, no doubt, have the BLT and salad again... I just wish you could get them as a combo with a smaller portion of salad instead of separate items. -

Their coffee is amazing. I'm a coffee freak and it was so yummy! I need to call them and ask what brand they use.
The only thing I don't like about Aria is that it is very small to the point where you feel they don't want you to mingle or look around. You're in and you're out. I also think the prices of their pastries and baked goods are on the pricey side. But if you're the only coffee shop in the town you do what you want. -

I LOVE this place. Someone needs to tell me the chocolate they use for their mochas so I can find a place in Sacramento that uses the same.
I was nervous at first when I saw a bunch of chocolate settled on the bottom of my iced mocha cup. I took some sips and was in HEAVEN. Creamy chocolaty goodness throughout! The pieces at the bottom were not gritty but delightful yumminess! -

Happened to be going through town kind of early on a Sunday morning, and decided to stop at Aria.
The staff were very attentive and helpful. The baked goods had amazing flavor.
I found it pricey, just as others had mentioned in their reviews.
I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the apparent lack of cleanliness. I know it's in an old historic building, but the place just appeared dirty in my opinion. How about a good thorough cleaning? Just my pet peeve I guess.
Will I be back? Yeah, probably. -

After reviewing the other Yelp reviews and knowing I was travelling to Murphys Aria became my Sunday destination. Always armed with a empty stomach and camera in hand, I posted a few photo's and enjoyed my mini pizza with stuffed mushrooms. Directly across from the Murphys Hotel.

Woohoo! My first "First to Review"!
The Bakery is centrally located right on Main St., pretty much directly across the street from the Murphys Historic Inn.
Anyway, this is a fantastic little coffee shop/bakery. They have a wide variety of all the usual coffee/tea type drinks, and even some Italian Sodas.
The real star winners here, though, are all the home made baked goodies. Everything from "chicken apple sausage and white cheddar biscuits" to cinnamon buns to ham and cheese croissants. All made fresh daily. Plus, they open at 6am every day, so you can grab something bright and early before hitting the road to go hiking in the nearby parks (Big Tree Park is about 20 minutes away), or you can just mosey over late morning before a rough day of wine tasting.
Walking 2 blocks and stopping for wine every 10 feet can be hard work! -

Taking the advice of Tracee E. (previous review), we purposely drove over to Aria on Sunday morning and enjoyed chatting with the friendly staff at Aria. The best part? THE FOOD! Fantastic variety of quality baked items all warm and ready for breakfast or lunch. Great coffee, congenial people, delicious and beautiful food make this a wonderful find here in Murphys.
Go. Go. Go. -

Some places, an aria refers to an Italian musical piece, but in Murphys Aria means heaven!
Sure, they're a little on the expensive side. $5 for an iced mocha?
My cheapskate self would usually cringe, but let me assure you: it's worth it. I've never had a higher quality chocolate in a mocha.
In that moment of scanning the case after walking in the door before I locate my beloved red potato parmesan focaccia, I sometimes have a minor anxiety attack. Have they run out already? I've had my heart broken occasionally, but more often than not my $4 ticket to culinary bliss is ready and waiting. I justify the cost with the fact it's a meal in itself.
Do yourself a favor: go buy something tasty from Aria (it's probably as good as it looks, whatever it is), take a stroll down to the park and relax by the creek. Perfection. -

We might have come on a bad day, judging from all of the other high marks for Aria. We tried the coffee, pretty good. We were disappointed with one of the baked goods that we tried. It just wasn't remarkable. The prices are reasonable.

Coffee and service.
The folks here at Aria were very nice, even tried to give our dogs bagels. We would definitely go back for coffee and a schneck. Everything looked very tasty.

We were staying at Church Street Cottage which is only a block from Aria, so bright and early this morning I popped in for 2 large lattes and a couple of goodies for breakfast. I let my husband remain curled up in bed and the dogs watching him while I foraged for food. The people here are so friendly and the bakery is all freshly made. I ordered a bear claw and a cranberry scone to go with the lattes. Excellent choices. It only took about 10 minutes and I was on my way back to our cottage. Maybe next time we will get a chance to try one of their sandwiches. I also saw that they are now serving local wines by the glass. WAY TO GO! It's a good way to support one another. -

Aria is wonderful for quite a few reasons. First up? The charm factor. This adorable little bakery is just big enough inside to fit a line of about 5 people comfortably. The staff knows me by name! Hey, everyone likes feeling like a cast member of Cheers. Also, the staff is friendly but in a quiet way so this is actually a perfect spot to grab a coffee for that hangover you'll have after partying hard at the Murphys Historic Hotel the night before.
Next up on the Reasons Why Aria Rocks list is the fact that they roll European style. I fell in love with true to form European style cafes when I was in New Zealand, and it's always a marvelous surprise when I find a bakery like that at home here in the States. The pastries and breads in their bake case are not only intricately designed and super delicious, but they are made fresh every day. The coffee is really good, I would ALMOST be tempted to try and drink it black because it's smells so good like that - but I'm a die hard sugar and cream girl.
You gotta try: The little mini pizzas with salami and white cheddar and/or the white cheddar biscuits with butter (seriously, you don't need anything else on these...they're amazing just the way they are). -

We had lunch at Aria fourth of July weekend and had a great meal. The sandwiches are fresh and delicious. Staff is also friendly and quick. We also left our IPOD on the seat outside and did not notice until we got to Oakdale that we had left it somewhere. We called Aria and they were so nice, they said they had found it and that they would send it on Wednesday when they had the time.
Great people great service great food....... we'll be back for sure! -

We're making our plans to head to Calaveras and while doing our research on http://CellarPass.com of where to go, we're already smelling the pine trees, the nose of Newsome-Harlow's "The Deviant", Firewood Grill's famous fish tacos and Aria Bakery's fresh-baked bread, which we always come back with a basket load! Murphys, CA
I have lived in Murphys for slightly over 7 years now and I have to say that this place takes the cake as my favorite eating establishment in town.
It's gotten so bad that some of the employees even know my name!
My favorite morning-time treat (or...anytime treat, for that matter) is their homemade bagels toasted with cream cheese! They look a little small but they will fill you up, I promise!
And if you're not a starving college student like; me try one of their sandwiches (home-made bread and fresh ingredients get in my belly please!) the foccacia is also great for a take-home snack!
Only downfall...It's miserably hot inside because of the ovens (So make sure you tip the staff for slaving away in there all day) I recommend taking your treat across the street to the park and enjoying it by the creek! -

If you are anywhere with 20 miles of Murphys, a trip to Aria is worth it for the bread alone! They do french style loaves with crispy, crunchy crusts and soft delectable bread on the inside. Our recent pick up of the kalmata olive loaf, the 9 seed italian style and the plain soudough was heavenly. Although they will set you back ($13+) for the three loaves, it did treat us well for wine tasting picnic in Amador's Shenandoah and for dinner that night.

We stumbled upon this place a while back as we were driving home from Bear Valley. We wanted to stop in Murphy's to check out some of the wineries but arrived in town before they opened. To kill some time we took a walk down the street and came upon this bakery. My husband is a big cinnamon roll fan so we bought a big one for him and a couple small ones for the kids. I opted not to have anything, which was a mistake. I took a nibble of my husband's roll and it was probably the best cinnamon roll I've every had! We've been back a couple times and but haven't tried anything else yet because the cinnamon rolls are so good. I am thinking that we should branch out the next time we are there since other reviews have good things to say about the other goodies, but it's hard to stray from such a yummy thing that I can't get in the Bay Area!

Holy Crap. This place rocked my world. First of all, it's in the cutest little town. Secondly, they had the best, friendliest service. Thirdly (how can this be the third best thing??) they have fantastic food!! Only drawback is the tiny space. But oh my, the food. We went there twice in one super fun wine tasting weekend. We had some kind of quiche that had bacon and other tasty ingredients...the best I've ever had by far. We also tried a biscuit that had scallions and maybe asiago? can't remember what cheese it was, but the biscuit was so flaky and melt-in-your-mouth, WOW. I wish I had reviewed this sooner after our visit so I could remember more details...we were there in early December 2009. Good times, can't wait to go back for another wine tasting weekend!

We came down from the other end of town from Aria yesterday; we had a little meet up there at 8:30am. WOW, the gal made my coffee by the cup, she did not use one of the thermos pump dispensers! Excellent coffee! All of the coffee accoutrements right there too. Next came choosing what to have for breakfast, Bagels, croissants, biscotti, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pastries - all made fresh right there. Very hard to choose - I ordered the spinach croissant - she heated it and served it on a real plate and yes, the coffee was in a real mug. They hustle to get your food to you, so don't expect much chit chat - those girls are working back there. Can't go wrong in my opinion! Well if you wait and go near noon the selection is gone! But that is a very good sign. Little tables outside if you want to get a feel for the charm of downtown Murphys! Lucky, lucky, lucky us! Per my last post, the price is worth the experience and my daughter loved getting the gift certificate.

This is the best bakery for pasteries in Calaveras County. They are open early in the morning for those awake at dawn and needing a caffeine fix and do not skip the big cinnamon rolls baked fresh everyday. They melt in your mouth. Aria is not to be missed when visiting in or near Murphys.

In the CUTE town of Murphy's, I discovered the best cupcake I've ever had in my ENTIRE life!!! Every bite was a bit of heaven with just enough tartness and sweetness deserving of the name Lemon Heaven! No exaggeration! Taste this cupcake. I've waited in line in Los Angeles for an hour and 15 minutes for Sprinkles cupcakes (that Oprah raves about) and it's NOOOOO comparison. Sprinkles tastes like good quality cupcakes your grandma may have made but THIS cupcake from ARIA is a TRUE gourmet delight! Okay, did I give you the impression that I kinda like this cupcake?? I can't wait to try the rest of the stuff they have. The town itself is getting upscale with a lot of part time establishments. This has caused some dissension because the original store owners don't appreciate half of the town shutting down when they are there full time trying to make a living. (this bakery is only open Thursday through Sunday? maybe Monday) Also, great wine bar hangouts.

Where to start?! The blackberry pie?! The soups?! The sandwiches?! The BREADS?!!!! We LOVE Aria. We frequent it as much as possible. It is located right on Main Street with a few little tables out front. Each visit there is accompanied by meeting people with warm hearts, out for their own happy jaunt. Go there, you will love the food, the people, the place.

Please don't think of Aria as simply a coffee shop to get a bear claw and a cup of joe - and frankly their coffee is not that good because they serve it scorching hot - Aria is a bakery and perhaps the best in the gold country. Wait, did I say bakery? Let's amend that to French bakery with crusty loaves, sweet or savoury filled pastries great little cakes and all the necessities of life to make you forget the hot and dusty hills. But wait they are even more then that. I recently attended a party for 50 guests that they catered, wonderful finger foods of the oriental persuasion. The locals know and love Aria and if you're staying up in Murphys do yourself a favor - forget about the hotel breakfast and head to Aria on Main street. And Aria if you're reading this, upgrade the coffee service.

This yummy bakery was a delightful discovery during a recent weekend trip to Murphys. We tried their chocolate chip cookies (excellent -- got them two days in a row!), a potato/garlic pizza-y type thing (yum, even eating it on the colder side, which we had to do since we got it to go for a hiking lunch), and sandwiches (hearty and tasty). My only complaint at all was that the shop was overwarm the day we stopped in, and I can easily live with that in exchange for super-tasty baked goods.
