I found this restaurant on here a few weeks ago and decided to check it out, too bad it took 5 weeks for me to write a review.
The decor could easily have you walk by this place but DO NOT!! they have some of the best thai food I have ever tasted. -

Thai delivery.. at it's best.
The crispy duck is amazing.. though the penang curry it came with (requested on the side) was pretty spicy when I wanted mild. The pad see ew w| beef was good too, but would've been better if they added more veggies like thinly sliced carrots or something.. instead of just broccoli. The crispy spring rolls are awesome too and they give you sooo many.
My (extremely picky) boyfriend ordered the basil chicken w| sticky rice two nights in a row. I'm a fan. -

Great pad- thai. Amazing Nua Pad Prick!!! But every time I order for delivery my order is always wrong. But this place deserve to get rated on the food. Wish the f.o.h's servixe was as good as the food tastes .

Crispy duck in penang with coconut milk is quite good for the price. Pad Thai and Pad see ew are always solid. They're always nice and food is delivered quickly. Great value here and probably just as good if not better then some of the places on a busier areas like on Broadway or Steinway.

My friend and I went to Arharm and choose from their $6.95 lunch menu. Arharn is Michelin rated, so I took a chance with the Pad Thai (most places make uninspired noodles with a tasteless sauce). Turns out it was the best Pad Thai I've ever had in a restaurant. Yum yum yum. My friend ordered chicken with basil and it was delicious. Worth a trip from anywhere, though being close to Queens is nice.

Wow I'm pretty sure this is the best Thai any one ever ate or made ever. I had a pork citrus dish that absolutely made my life so much better than I firmly believe it was delivered from some sort of heaven.

This place really wasn't anything special, as they other reviewers would have you believe. It was really just ok all around.
The ambiance was fine. It was really quiet, but we were there late - around 9 or 10.
The service was fine. Food came on time, waiters were friendly enough. Although, I will say that they did try pretty forcefully to get us out of there come closing time by bringing our check out long before we were finished.
The food, simply put, was just mediocre. I ordered some beef curry. The beef wasn't all that tender. The potatoes weren't all that soft. My friend's dish didn't have all that much flavor.
Check it out, but don't expect a five-star experience like other yelpers suggest. -

Very cozy, small, and clean restaurant. Staff is friendly and courteous...no rushing you out the door. Food was tasty and satisfying, but nothing unusual or unique about the flavors - but dependable.

Wow, I can't believe it took me nearly 8 months of living in Astoria to discover Arharn Thai. This place is SO GOOD. I am addicted to their pad see ew. Just go! If you get delivery, it's very very fast. Probably the best Thai in Astoria and maybe beyond!

I've been going here forever, but just finally got around to reviewing this place.
Best Thai food in Queens, and possibly, even the whole city.
I've ordered lots of things off the menu, but my favorites are the Thai soup, Fish Cakes, Pad Thai, Pad Se Eew and Red Snapper. Their fried honey banana with lychee ice cream is the perfect way to finish off a spicy yet flavorful meal. Just tried the coconut drink last night for the first time and can't believe I deprived myself of it all the other times!
Service is fast and polite. Come for the food, not the ambiance - it's what really matters anyway. -

About a half block from my house. I always get the pad thai and something like masaman curry. I've gotten their spring rolls and riblettes as apps. Both very good.
The service is always gracious. -
Review from Rachel C.
Came here for dinner on a weekday night and it was almost empty except for a couple other tables. The service was nice and friendly as we were seated and ambiance-wise, it's pretty standard for an asian restaurant.
We ordered a a couple of appetizers to start including the fish cakes and a salad. Both were good and actually large portions for appetizers. The salad alone could've been my entree. I thought the fish cakes were good but a little on the oily side.
Our entrees came and we shared the pad see euw with beef and the fried duck curry. The pad see euw was a little too sweet and had a little too much sauce for my taste. Generally I think that pad see euw comes as a drier stir fry and my noodles were swimming in sauce. Also the duck curry is what people say is THE dish to order here, but I thought it was just ok. Duck is naturally fatty and oily and the way it was fried made every bite really greasy. It was crispy, but just too much oil for my taste. The curry it was sitting in was tasty though.
For the price, this place is good but not worth traveling to. I'd pass. -

YUM~! Always terrific. The roasted duck in red curry sauce is amazing, and the wide noodle with pork even better than the Pad Thai.
The lunch special is only 6.95, and, how nice for me, they deliver if I am not in the mood to pop around the corner. One of my BF's insists we eat here every time she is in the city. -

It completely boggles me that Arharn hasn't gotten more buzz (no love at all from NY Mag and only ~20 Yelp reviews??) Having sampled every Thai place in Astoria (not counting Wave which seems to have mixed reviews) Arharn blows away the competition. In fact, eating at Arharn is one of the few times in my Thai eating days when I thought, "Well isn't THAT new and different!"
First things first: don't go here for the ambience. I would call it a hole in the wall, but I think it's a little better than that. There is a funny/creepy piece of woven wall art that looks like a 3-foot long caterpillar with lethal spikes (look by the register) which is a little off-putting, and the ceiling is a little shabby, but it's otherwise clean and has good AC in the summer.
The decor will be but an afterthought, though, when you eat the food. The menu is extensive and includes things you won't see at many Thai places in the city (a special section for Frog Legs? 6 kinds of crispy duck?? YUM). And Arharn does what most Thai restaurants fail to do in my experience: they get ALL the main types of Thai entrees right. I usually judge a Thai restaurant based on three mains: curries, sautees and noodle dishes. In most cases, Thai places can do ONE of those three well, and will fail miserably with the others. I've had all three types at Arharn (Ped Penaeng, Gai Ka Ti and Pad Kee Mow) and all three had bold, interesting flavors and were cooked well.
To top it all off, the place is very reasonably priced, which is great given how frou-frou good Thai food is becoming these days. Cost cutting measures are apparent in the food as they don't always use the freshest ingredients (I'm pretty sure they use frozen, precut veggies in some of the curries), but because the base of the dishes is so great, you won't notice the difference.
Now you must excuse me, because I have some leftover crispy duck to devour. -

Thai cuisine.
Ordered several dishes including duck. Food was well prepared and tasted good. It wasn't as spicy as I was expecting, but it was a good alternative to Sripraphai. Actually went to this place upon recommendation of someone waiting outside of Sripraphai.
If you are in the Astoria area, this is a nice place to eat.Listed in: Queens

New York, NY
Best Thai food in Queens. Hands Down.
The servers are always very kind and happy to make a suggestion. I love their green curry.
The only reason I give it 4 stars is because whenever I order to-go the curry is a little different than when I dine-in: it's always very spicy (even though I ask for mild) and there is usually more curry than meat or vegetables. Just make sure and be very clear about the spiciness level you'd like and mention that you'd like not to have so much liquid when ordering curry. This has never been the case when I eat at the restaurant, however.
Definitely be sure and check this place out. The food is excellent! Great place for a date too: the atmosphere is never loud and the tables are spaced far enough apart to provide privacy. -

Astoria, NY
Totally my go-to Thai place. Fresh, gourmet and high quality.
The dishes I will always get are the Tom Yum Soup with shrimp and the Chicken Kra Prow.
I love Tom Yum, and Arharn's is amazing. Super spicy - so not for the faint of heart - with thee large shrimp and fresh cut up mushrooms.
The Kra Prow is chicken with basil and onions and peppers in a spicy, flavorful sauce. Totally incredible. This one is spicy too, but the spice comes from flavor, not just from adding a bunch of chiles or hot sauce. I will generally ask them to add broccoli and baby corn, which I think comes for an extra $1 charge, but it's worth it. Their veggies are super fresh.
If you are looking for amazing thai food, try Arharn. But beware: you probably won't be able to eat at another local thai place again, so be sure they're in your delivery zone. -

Long Island City, NY
Excellent Thai restaurant with some delicious specialties-- not for the faint of heart. If you want greasy pad thai and egg rolls, why not go to a Chinese place. here you can get frog legs, all sorts of curries, and really powerful spices and coconut milk. I highly recommend the green curry.
The only downside is the ambiance sucks- it's always empty and you can hear a pin drop. It's too bad it's not more bustling; I like going to restaurants to be around other people having fun, not to sit there and grub and be done in 10 minutes.
Steve is wrong- it's close to the 36th subway stop, NOT 39th. -

Great food. Crispy duck with tamarind sauce was excellent.
Friendly, good service. Small and hospitable. They obviously take pride in their food. Also good, chicken pad Thai. Close to 39th St. subway station (N and W trains). -

I was supposed to go to Thailand in a few months, but due to a change of plans I can't go.
In any case I went to this restaurant with someone whose been to Thailand numerous times and it was hands down the best thai food of my life. The spice was amazing (yes one of us cried), and the food was truly fantastic. We had some unusual dishes including the amazing twice fired catfish. The desserts were also delicious and tasty. The service was fantastic!
So for now since I can't go to Thailand I know that I will be frequenting this spot so I can have the flavors without the flight! -

White Plains, NY
I hate to be the one that goes against the grain, but, my experience here was a disappointment. I went with a group of 12. We're all good eaters and have a diverse palate, None of us felt this was anything special. On the plus side, the service was attentive and polite. But the food didn't match up to the service or our expectations. The fried red snapper and the crispy duck were obviously old and re-fried to the point of desiccation. The curries were so-so. Not bad but nothing that I'll remember by tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, NYC lacks good Thai. I can think of several Thai places in Los Angeles that would run this joint into the ground if they went toe-to-toe in a taste comparison.

Not the best; but if you are in this area, give it a try.
I was driving around Astoria after taking care of some errands with my young child, went in and he loved the Pad Thai. The rest of the menu looked typical.
The service was fast and cordial; and that goes a long way. -

Just got take out from there. Ordered on the phone and picked it up. We got the Green Curry Tofu and the Tofu Kra Prow.
The food was fine. Didn't think it was amazing but no real complaints. The Green Curry Tofu was better than the Tofu Kra Prow.
My real complaint was the prices. The prices on their website are not the same as their dine-in prices. (The lady claimed that the website is "slow to update.") On top of that, she tried to charge me a dollar over the menu prices.
It's pretty shady. The food was fine. Not amazing if you're a vegetarian - you end up paying as if you were getting meat. -

Best Thai place I have EVER been to. I've been to a lot of Thai restaurant and this is my favorite. It's not the best looking decor wise but what it lacks in that area it makes up for it with the food. The wait staff are super nice and attentive. What I love about this place is its never super crowded and they get your food out very fast. My boyfriend loves their crispy duck (62a on the menu). I absolutely LOVE their Kra Prow, it's just spicy enough for me. My boyfriend and I don't even live in Astoria and we will drive out of our way just to go to this place even though we have a Thai restaurant a couple of blocks from our apartment.

Ahhh, Where do I start. I been going to this place for last 8-9 years and i'm never disappointed by their food or service. Their dumpling is awesome and Pad Prik (fried red snapper) is the best I had. Restaurant is very relaxing and quiet. Highly recommend to anyone who loves Thai food. A+++

Very big portions, but the Pad Thai taste is pretty generic kind of "asian flavoring" as opposed to a uniquely Pad Thai flavor. Not the ONE either.

I frequent this place and enjoy the food very much. It isn't the most amazing Thai I have ever tasted but it is still very good. Service is always great when I am there, seems to be 2 servers that rotate shifts, and both of them are super nice at all times. I have never been when it is very crowded but I have been there when they have had huge parties of 10 or more in the back and our service never suffered from that.

I lived in NY for a few months this summer for an internship. The first night I moved in, my roommate let me know that "the Thai place on the corner" was great, and I was hungry, so I walked over. About five minutes later I was back in my apartment, a small handful of dollars exchanged for a very large portion of very delicious gaeng karee. I ended up eating here at least once a week while I was there. I really miss living around the corner from this restaurant!

My girlfriend Megan and I went to Arharn last night prior to heading to Regal Theatre in Long Island City NY to see Iron Man 2. It was within 5-7 minutes walking of the theatre which made it very convienent for my Thai craving. The reviews I checked out on Yelp lived up to their name. The decor was simple and not too far out there. The service was exceptional. Straight and to the point, suggestive but not overwhelming, courteous and attentive but not overwhelming as well. I ordered a wonderful sweet and sour sauce veggie shrimp dish as well as the thai rolls and fried tofu. Megan has the Gareng Karee (Spelling?). Everything was brought out in a very timely fashion. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable. The food was spectacular. I highly recommend it. Monday night was great- no reservations needed. Highly recommended.

All you need to know, FROG LEGS + CRISPY FRIED DUCK = GABE IS HAPPY MAN! Very friendly, and relatively tasty old school thai place. Besides the fried perfection that is the duck, and the oddity of a place in the USA actually having frog legs, I don't think anything stands out as amazing, but everything I have tried is really flavorful, not too saturated in an oil and vegetables seem SUPER FRESH. Definitely a place that you remember from the introduction of Thai Cuisine in NYC in the 90s.

Flushing, NY
3.5 stars. Service was decent. A one man show during the lunch special hour, so I had to remind him of some requests I wanted. But the waiter was very friendly and nice. Weekday lunch special runs for $6.95. Which sounds reasonable, but noodle dishes don't include a small side salad. My friend got the pad thai. Not too sour, which is good. But the portion was a bit small. I had the generic mixed vegetables with jasmine rice. Again, not much veggies and it's mostly the inexpensive kinds (carrots, cabbage and maybe 3 snowpeas), but the rice was nice and fluffy. Compared to a Chinese takeout, of course, you would more quantity, but from the look of the dishes, you can tell the chef does put some time and effort into it (my carrots were diced in a zigzag shape). A bit of comment on the salad dressing...it's penaut sauce...from the pad thai, which mean warm dressing on cold salad. Doesn't really work that way...
PS if you like French crepes, Cafe Triskell is 2 blocks away. Check that out. I haven't though, so please let me know. :) -
