Nice little hiking trails that give one a sense of being in a much larger and isolated wooded area. Kid's playground was just right for our toddler and her six year-old brother. Good tennis courts, a recently renovated baseball field and a well-stocked concession stand with great prices and friendly service. Two barbecue areas near the baseball diamond, one of them well shaded, with more than enough BBQ pits. I can't believe we waited so long to look into this place.  A real hidden gem and just a few blocks from our house!

This park is walking distance from my house and I use it for my medicine ball workouts.  There is a cinder block restroom building which is just begging for you to hurl your 18 lb balls at it.

Today when I walked up there a ball game was in progress.  It looked like farm league from the size of the kids.  There was a border collie playing fetch as well as two different labrador retrievers.

If you like a well-maintained family park, this is a great place to come.  I like that stuff, but personally I'm trying to get shredded.

I recently started taking tennis lessons at this park through San Carlos Parks & Rec.  The courts are in great shape but can be challenging to find if you've never been to the park before.

I've stumbled across short hiking trails, nice picnic areas, a small playground, and a really well kept little league field.

There are two separate parking lots--Wellington Dr. serves the little league field; Phelps Rd. serves the tennis courts.

Many deer live in the area so take it easy and don't drive fast on Wellington.  :)

I can't believe I've lived so close to such a great little park for so long and didn't know it.  The park is well taken care of and clean.  We used several of the different little trails that wind up the hill to the side of the baseball field.  It's a little rough right now since the rains has washed away some of the paths but it make for a more vigorous workout.  Plenty of parking and if you catch it early enough on a Saturday or Sunday morning you and your furry kids can have it to yourselves for a good twenty minutes or so.

A hidden gem of a park with a good soccer/baseball field in a bit of a secluded valley along with simple play structure and a few picnic tables.

Recently renovated, this 21 acre city park is a gem for locals.  Not really a destination park, but if you live in the area I highly recommend it.  Tennis courts, a new baseball field bordered by a dirt running track, grills and seating for picnics, and hiking trails looping through the surrounding hills with great views... my private little slice a heaven.

First off, Arguello Park is in a hilly residential area of San Carlos. Drive down into a sloped parking area off of Wellington.  When you first arrive there, it's hard to know where the playground is because you can't really see it from the parking lot.  It's very woodsy and probably a great place for hiking - but a little harder for a toddler.
When walking with a toddler, I realized that the playground was down a rather steep dirt path to get to the playground area on the other side of the baseball field.
So after trying to walk down the steep path, I decided to pick up my son and drive closer to the other entrance of the park off of Phelps.  Since it was rather empty, I was able to park my car next to the maintenance parking. There are only 2 spots there, but it was much closer to the play structure and bathrooms.
The plus is that the play structure area is fenced.  The structure appears to be meant for older kids.  It does have the soft cushioned material below it.  There was only one other child and adult there when we visited. So it was basically empty.
Like someone said, it's not really a destination park.  It would be hard to walk to because it's up in the hills and it's somewhat off the beaten path.

I love this spacious park, 21 acres of pure bliss. A playground for the kids, paths and rocks for climbing, clean, well maintained cabanas with plenty of tables and barbecues, clean restrooms, tennis courts, and ample field space for soft ball and slosh ball. I am almost a week in writing this review; we had our 4th Of July party here last Sunday and had a blast; good food, drinks, people, and good times complete with water fights and soft ball. You can even bring alcohol here. Why the four stars? The restroom needed more toilet paper; thank goodness it had enough to get through the day and they need to install a soap dispenser. Otherwise, this park is among the best on the peninsula. Keep up the good work guys.!
