ARGO ME. Preferably daily.
Love this place. Every visit - which is becoming more frequent - has been fantastic.
If you haven't had the chai cherry panini, You Must. Terrific.
Okay Argo, just don't go Starbuck's on us now. -
Review from Emily Y.
Here's the deal. Argo's drinks would be forgettable, if it were easy for me to part with $5. As it is, $5 seems like a lot more money when you're spending it on something that doesn't totally delight you. The good news for Argo is that you can just skip the drink and spend that $5 on something totally phenomenal - just move three feet to your left. Over in the food case they have a pesto, spinach and tomato sandwich that they will warm up for you (I ask them to double the time, b/c it's usually a little cold in the middle). Or if that doesn't trip your trigger, try the Cuban sandwich. That's $5 well spent, friend.
Consumer's Warning: I'd recommend their veggie lentil bowl thing, but if your GI is like my GI, your coworkers will HATE you afterwards. -

I love tea....Hot tea, cold tea, tea with milk, tea with lemonade, green, black, fruity, earthy....Just give it to me!
I came by everyday....and in everyday, what I really mean is two, three visits in the day. Just some personal favs..Hibiscus tea squeeze, iced green tea strawberry, iced Pom tea, Chai and good old green tea. Their paninis are brilliant-the bread is fantastic. Love that there is a place just for tea and they have LOADS of it....really wished they had this in CA. Even got my last Argo fix at O'Hare. Score!Listed in: Chicago Delight

Review from Kenny O.
I'm sitting here as we speak.
This is my first time coming to this location since I was in the area and wanted a nice drink on this beautiful summer day.
I walked into the Prentice Women's Hospital, took a right turn, and was greeted by the beautiful Argo Tea display.
Drink:
I ordered the Green Tea Strawberry Creme for the first time today and I must say it's really really tasty. I used 2% milk as the 'creme' base and maybe I should have used half-and-half, but it's still mighty fine. I've gone through a good portion of the menu over the past year and this is somewhere in my top 3 probably. Highly recommended.
Service:
The cashier and baristas shot through a line of 3 people in front of me with quick ease. I placed my order and had the drink and receipt in my hand almost simultaneously. Really impressive.
Ambience:
You're in a hospital. The lobby is full of all kinds of people. It's a little loud. This is not the fault of Argo, though -- this comes with the location. -

This place is my new favorite place for a hot beverage. I love love love their teas. The hospital lobby is a bit noisy but that's to be expected and not the store's fault.

Review from Helen C.
I wandered in here on my first ever day in Chicago, so forgive the totally non-objective excitement with which this review is written. Also note I'm English, and any kind of thing relating to tea genetically makes me want to hug someone. That's just the way it is.
OK, so they have a MILLION KINDS OF TEA.
I ordered Chai. it was good. I didn't know what all the different milk options even meant (I went and did some revision in Trader Joe's and now I understand - also, half and half?! That's genius), so I came across as a right idiot but the bloke behind the counter didn't seem to mind. He made my chai and heated up my brownie and I was very very happy.
Now I have to go back (genetic pull) and try all the other millions of teas, even if they do cost $3 a go (which when you think about it is quite a lot to pay for tea...). But they sound more like tea cocktails anyway. And I'm new.
Also I'm now ridiculously excited to learn that this is a chain and I can indulge in tea and brownies the size of my head all over the city.
Like I said, I'm pretty easily pleased at this stage..... -

I'm so glad to have an Argo Tea location close to school. A little bit of caffeine before class or something warm on a cold day is very much appreciated. The perceptive person working behind the counter noticed my book bag and asked if I was a student, which helps when you're paying five bucks for a cup of tea.
I got the Hibiscus Steamer last time I was there. I love hibiscus tea, as well as apple cider, so I can't figure out why they taste so unpleasant combined. I won't get it again, but I know I'll be back to get something else.Listed in: I Don't Drink Coffee...

Ah, bliss.
There's nothing quite like that first foamy sip of a mate latte with soy. Mmmmm...makes all your troubles melt away.
I started going to this location a few months ago when I 1) discovered it's existence and 2) realized it was close enough to my office for me to sneak out without anyone noticing. Nothing like a little intrigue to make a tea latte taste a little sweeter .
Very clean, very friendly staff, super-fast service. True love.Listed in: The Downtown Lowdown

$5 is pricey for some tea, though.

I go to Argo tea all the time to several different ones but this one is the most important, and this is because it is the one I go to in the morning before work.
Iced Matte latte with soy is my am drink (wakes you up!) almondy and sweet.
Mojitea is my pm drink minty and limey like the name suggests
iced tea ginger twist is my pm drink as well, it is spicy and delish

YUM, good tea even though it is a bit expensive. The quiches are also pretty yummy and reasonably priced. I suggest the salmon one :o].
Bring your own mug and I think you get 10 cents off. Show them your student ID and get 10% off or something like that! If only they were open 24 hrs! -
Review from Saskia S.
Wandered in here on the way back to the hotel this past weekend and ended up scarfing down a flatbread and drinking some type of chilled strawberry tea creme thing.
I didn't realize it was a chain until I saw all of their branded merchandise (Argo tea strainer anyone?), but it was a nice experience.
Flatbread was tasty. They warmed it up and it was cheesy and very satisfying after a long day of walking.
The tea thing was a little sweet, but that's what I get for ordering something called a strawberry creme tea drink.
But, when they originally gave me the wrong drink the staff was really nice and fixed it quickly. -

Still love this place, still go nearly every day. My review update is due to the fact that I just found out they are discontinuing the Northwestern discount at this Argo location ... probably because 80% of the people who go here are NU staff/researchers/doctors. Argo is, after all, a business that wants to make money. So no hard feelings.
On another note, try the Espresso Chai ... holy crap. So good.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Note: My ratings are in regards to comparing each Argo Tea location. My goal is to visit them all!
Lucky for me it's not easy for me to get to Prentice Hospital, or else I'd be in their lobby all of the time with my books to the point where they might think I'm a lost grad student or have a sister who keeps getting pregnant.
I have a lot of family in healthcare, none of whom work at Prentice, but I'm always really calm in a hospital setting. Add nice cushy chairs and this Argo Tea and wow, nice atmosphere and peeeeerrrrfect for when I need to study. Although, I doubt the general public can really come here and schmooze all that much.
So my suggestion to you? Take a brief moment to pass by here sometime after a nice weather day of shopping on the Magnificent Mile, or perusing the Museum of Contemporary Art. Even better, grab a nice, chilled cup of tea from Argo (I suggest the iced Charitea or Carolina Honey...both of which, are by the way, very VERY sweet) and sit for a bit in the little park behind the museum.
P.S. If I am fortunate to one day be a mum, I'll insist to go to Prentice for their outstanding healthcare and so I can assuage birth pains with sips of Argo Tea creations. Ha! I hope you're around for that long Argo! -

I love going to Argo Tea - their cafe is modern, clean, spacious, and with comfortable couches.
Since they are only located in Chicago and NY, I like to buy gifts for friends here - they have tea a'la carte stations where you can pick from a large selection of unique teas, fill up bags to the amount that you like, and only purchase what you need!
Their pre-wrapped gift packages of tea varieties is also very nice.
Definitely a refreshing place to go to if you're looking for a change from the Starbucks located every 50 feet from your door! -

I love Argo Tea - great variety of tea, great locations, and I've always had good customer service.
However, their version of bubble tea is not the milkshake, blended type I'm used to: It's iced tea with these little cubes of really sweet what-I-assume-is-tapioca. I just got the mango green bubble tea, and the flavors are all there (delicious!) , but the texture is not the slushy blended consistency I was craving. Again, it's not bad - just different. -

College Station, TX
While reading a news article lately about how some coffee and tea shops are trying to balance out the time people spend on free wi-fi, hogging up tables, this is the first place I thought of. While just walking around in the Water Tower area we decided to stop in here for coffee and tea. It was packed out, there was a line and I didn't see anywhere to sit at all. We actually did want to sit down and cool off as we had been walking for some time. I guess being so close to the university this is a favorite place for students to get online. We had to stand for a while, while waiting for our order but it wasn't that annoying as there were so many things to look at. They have a huge selection of teas.
After lightening my wallet for something like $4 for tea and a few bucks for coffee, we were finally able to find a very narrow place to sit, with some other college students. Apparently people don't mind having to share tables and I don't know what the solution is to having too many people using the Internet and all the tables, or if there is a good solution. At least they have a lot of business. And they must have a huge Internet pipe. -

Let me preface this review by saying that I like Argo a lot. There are many different types of drinks and I have tried many and enjoyed most. That being said, this location.just.sucks. When I first started going here two years ago, the baristas were nice, quick, and efficient. Something changed. Management? Just those working there? Now they are TERRIBLE. My order has been wrong more often than not. They are also terribly slow. There have been times where I have left because even though there are 2 people in line, it took 15 minutes per person's drink... even though there are 2+ workers there.
Hire better workers and I will be back in a jiffy! -

Stumbled upon Argo Tea while in the N Michigan Ave area -- found lots of people studying, chatting, business meetings -- seems like a good place for just about anything.
Great selection of teas, iced or hot (they also have espresso options, but can't shy away from tea at a place with tea in its name, right?). In a span of two days, I dropped by Argo 3x. Tried out the Iced Sweet Carolina Honey tea -- awesome, light, and just a pinch of sweet. Also tried the Hibiscus tea, which was a bit too sour for me. And the Green Tea Ginger Twist -- which sounds good in theory, but was too gingery for me. They also had a pretty large selection of loose teas, as well as a pretty comprehensive menu for ordering (everything from chai to pearl milk tea).
Only thing I'd take a star off for is price -- it's definitely expensive for even the smallest cup of tea! -

I frequent several Argo Tea Cafes, but this is my go-to stop in the morning when I have time. The service is friendly and the tea is delicious. My new obsession is the green tea ginger twist--hot or cold. I actually have cravings for this drink.
I also love the fact that they have vegan muffins--chocolate chip or lemon poppyseed. It's nice that Argo recognizes that vegans need tasty baked goods on the go just as much as everyone else! -

Don't be fooled by the size. This place is just as capable of the full size Argo Tea's around the city, but quite smaller. Just think everything that you like about Argo, compacted, pocket size.

These guys were great. No lines, great coffee and blueberry muffins. I went to the Starbuck's across the street in Northwestern one day and waited in line for at least 15 minutes. Not that they were slow, just long lines. Definitely try Argo Tea as an alternative coffee source. I recommend the latte and I had the chance to try the pumpkin chai, which was great.

WOW. I'd say about 50% of the time they forget my order. Either they hate me or they just have really under-trained, incompetent staff.

Someone from Argo's main office apologized for my trouble and sent me a couple of free drink coupons, which I appreciated. She said that only managers could give them to customers, which was why I wasn't offered one after the accident. Not a great explanation, but there you go.
