Spaghetti Dela Casta! Remember those three words if you ever venture into Argia's. Its a special entree made up of in house made spaghetti noodles and red sauce, along with shrimp and beef.
The noodles were cooked just right (not too hard or soft). They also provided plenty of shrimp. It tasted so good I felt like I was eating Italian Pad Thai!
An appetizer of mussels overflowed the serving plate as it probably 5 lbs worth of food. Next time I'll save a few for take-out so that I can try and replicate the tasty sauce!
The arugula salad was big enough for two people.
Service was impeccable. Phil provided a detail description of specials and frequently checked on us.
Take advantage of the outdoor seating on a calm and comfortable spring-like evening. -

My family and I had been here many years back and found a reason to return with a Groupon. Fresh pasta is the way to go here. I had the capellini arrabiata and expected a larger portion (at $15) and a tomato (not oil) based sauce, but with great tasting pasta there were no complaints. My brother's gnocchi was slightly over, but not mushy, so he enjoyed it. Arugula salad was excellent and everyone else enjoyed the arancini (I stay away from cheese but was told they were delicious).
Room temperature bread is always bizarre at an Italian restaurant. Do they not have an oven to at least make it appear fresh? The ambiance is nice with a large mural, but the restaurant can't quite make up its mind. You'll find some men in ties/jackets and others in t-shirts. The restroom desperately cries for a remodel. A food runner (recently promoted from dishwasher?) lacked any people skills or regard to keeping water glasses filled or delivering plates. I couldn't drop them harder on the table if I had even tried. Server was nice, though not too attentive with wine glasses or menu options.
When the bill for a party of four exceeds $125, you expect more of these things to go right. That being said, you could enjoy a simple bowl of pasta here on a budget and ignore the lack of attention to detail but have a nice meal. I don't plan on returning. -

I don't know if I would classify this place as a 5 star place usually, but I can't think of thing they could have done better and with my daily deal coupon it made the experience all the sweeter!
the place is much cuter on the inside than you might expect, and our server had a lot of personality and made great recommendations. For food, they start you with some really delicious bread selections, so we didn't even need apps, but it was mussel night so owe ordered some to share - glad we did, they were really really good. Cooked perfectly and the broth was delicious. For dinner, I had the lasagna - very good but nothing unique and my friend had the pasta special, which she raved about. For dessert we split something chocolate, which I cannot remember, but I do remember it was yummy. Oh and their martinis were also unique and very good.
Overall a really pleasant experience. The food was all great and the services was perfect - attentive, but not rushed or intrusive. I'd definitely return here. -

**2.5 stars**
Came here for an in-law's birthday, but was fine as it was. Food had some good points but by no means mind-blowing.
Your typical neighborhood Italian restaurant located right across the street from the State Theater. Which is great if you're looking for a bite to eat before/after a show, but terrible if you're trying to find parking in the area on a busy show night. Casual sit-down restaurant with friendly and attentive wait staff.
The Husband and I split an appetizer and entree for our meals. Fried calamari we shared with the table was oily and not terribly flavorful enough to make up for it. So we went for the arancina (fried risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella), which were only slightly better. From what I can tell looking at the selection my table got appetizers were meh and not worth the effort.
Seemed like the restaurant considers the appetizers a throwaway and really showed their strengths through the entrees. We got fettuccine con ragu di vitello (fettuccine with creamy mushroom and veal ragu) which was actually quite delicious. The pastas are made in house and were actually quite tender and perfectly cooked. We wished the ragu had more mushrooms and smaller pieces of veal to balance out the creamy heaviness of the sauce. Not sure if this is due the way this restaurant makes ragu or just how ragu is in general, but the pasta overall wasn't bad and was actually quite tasty. Thank goodness we split the plate or else it would've been pretty overwhelming.
Solid option for a meal if you're the area but I would by no means go out of my way to try this place out. Stick with the pastas and you're good to go. -

Washington, DC
When I walked into this hidden gem I immediately felt like I was back in Florence Italy. There's a huge mural of the Piazza della Signoria along with several other local artist's work displayed throughout the restaurant.
Some of their signatures dishes are mussels argia, butternut squash ravioli, and the Italian shrimp and grits (my favorite). This might sound like an odd combination at first, but the waiter told me they have a costumer who comes in every week to order this dish so I knew I had to try it. Yes, I know I'm an easy sell, but just take a look at this description..."Sautéed shrimp, pancetta, scallions & cream over parmesan polenta" You're drooling all over your fancy iphone right now aren't you?
Argia's has weekly specials, Monday just happened to be half priced bottle of wine night, lucky me! I was trying to be classy in front of my mother, so I decided not to polish off an entire bottle of Pinot Noir. The waiter came by and corked it up for me and so that I could take it home. How awesome is that! I also promised my mom I would not finish it until I got home.
I like Argias. It's very friendly and warm and the food is good. I agree with some of the other reviews on the bread, but I usually *try* not to make a meal of the bread anyway.
This place is a solid 4 star Yelp restaurant. If you're in the Falls Church area stop by for some good Italian family style food and as they say in Italy, BUON APPETITO! -

This is my DMV fav! My go-to restaurant if celebrating an occasion, want to take friends to a nice spot or just want some G-R-E-A-T food.
The food is excellent. Their pastas are deeelicious. Here they don't make a soggy, sloppy, saucy mess outta pasta. You can eat it al dente. I've also tried the calamari and some other appetizers and those are solid too, but they're pastas are wonderful.
Service is always friendly and the last time I was here w/20 ppl the server was very attentive. -

I've been to Argia's a handful of times now, and I have to say that each time I go, I leave an extremely happy camper. I love the cozy, local feel of the place, and the servers are always cheery and helpful.
We have tried most of their appetizers (except the mussels) and haven't been wowed by any. We almost always get the solo Insalata Mista to share, as the portion is huge, and we love the simple dressing. We've also had almost everything on their dinner menu, and the standouts for me have always been their specials and their pasta dishes.
I continue to go back to support this charming local business, and the food has always been solid. We've never left hungry, and the service has always been wonderful. -

Have been here many times but today was the first time as a Yelp member! I had the gnocchi di ricotta. Well, it was delicious. As is usual, the bread was great but the olive oil was especially tasty today. I save the 5-star ratings for "the best that there ever was!" If I could, I would give a 4.5. The restaurant has a nice ambience, too. One of the good places in Falls Church!

Review from Sara B.
Tucked next to my bff Clare and Don's this place has drove me nuts for a long time 'cause I couldn't tell what the curvise sign said...stupid I know...The restaurant itself is cute. And be forewarned that parking can be a nightmare if its a nice night and C&D's is busy...
But anyway my lady friends and I went armed with a Groupon. We started with the calamari which was a good portion but could have used some seasoned salt or something. Spinach salad was good and then we each got pasta dishes and mussels (piglets heyyy). I had been thinking of the tagliatelle for days but it actually came up short. It needed some sort of kick like red pepper flakes or bacon or something. In short its a simple sauce with lots of brussel sprouts. The mussels argia however are AH-mazing. The broth is super flavorful which makes a really tasty mussel so it is a little salty just dipping your bread in but I'm not complaining. Go on Wednesday for mussel madness.
My only quip is that stupid little bottle on the table. Get your Crisco vegetable oil OFF my table and brace for the slap if you tell me again that it is olive oil. You have to call them out on their inauthenticity and they will indeed bring you the real thing. Gross. -

Came in with my Mom tonight (tues) on a whim; the place looked dark from the outside but was bright and pleasant inside...plenty of free parking in the back with an entrance as well.
We had a very nice server...fresh foccacia(sp) and waters came out immediately...we were presented the specials...I decided to go with the fish special, cod with faro and tomato couli, but I asked to sub polenta instead...yum, loved my meal. My Mom ordered the lasagna which she also enjoyed. We treated ourselves to their signature dessert...chocolate mousse cake which was on the cover of the Washingtonian....very chocolate-y without being dense...delish!
The bar was hopping as they had trivia going, and they have 1/2 price apps(minus) mussels on Tuesdays as well. I think I will go for calamari and antipasto one night...all in all, lovely neighborhood restaurant, with friendly service, good ambiance, and solid food...will be back! -
Review from Jake K.
I went here on a Livingsocial deal that gave me the option of purchasing up to $50 of food for $25. Let's just say that so long as you don't have extravagant tastes, the $50 will feed a family of four easily.
We got the Italian meat plate and spinach salad as an appetizer thinking that they would be small plates. Boy were we wrong - the spinach came out in one big heap of fruits, veggies, and olive oil - quite tasty and while it was covered in oil, it didn't really come off as greasy. The meat plate gave you a spread of prosciutto, mortadello, cappacollo, and salami (could it be soppresatta?). Top that off with a hunk of feta, a few cubes of what tasted like firm goat cheese, and a center of country olives. That was dinner by itself.
My wife got the pasta seafood special and ended up with six huge scallop slices and al dente pasta that definitely tasted homemade. I had the carne pizza - a mistake as I haven't been eating much meat as of late and I was quickly overcome. I could only finish half and had to pack up the rest.
Overall, the food was great. The acoustics in the place leave a bit to be desired but so long as you don't come during the peak time, you should have a nice dining experience. -

Decent. Nothing spectacular, though.
We ordered a few dishes which everything seemed to be ok. I remember the bruschetta being somewhat overwhelming with garlic - but the tomatoes were definitely fresh which was reassuring. Their bread wasn't very good, and the oil didn't help its cause.
Food aside, the parking seems to be very limited. -

One of the better Italian places in the area, outside of DC and Arlington. It's a multi-leveled affair, with some nice decoration, and it does pretty good business. It serves family style and personal portions as well as fixed price, multi course dinners. The pizzas are alright, but where this restaurant usually stands out is with the entrees like the chicken piccata and the gnocchi. Though this place can be quite popular during peak hours, you can get in without a reservation.

Great specials. Loved the Butternut Squash Ravioli. The ravioli was definitely homemade which is rare these days. Nice to finally have a good Italian restaurant in the neighborhood.
I recommend the Risotto balls but not the beef carpaccio. My boyfriend enjoyed his Gnocchi.
The carafe of House wine is a good deal at only $15. -
Review from Linda T.
The Caprese sandwich can be a hit or miss. I'm not sure why since there are only a few ingredients in this sandwich. If you order this sandwich for carryout, make sure they don't forget your salad.
I enjoy their bruschetta and calamari for appetizers. I'm not really a fan of their pasta dishes. -

I came here with a large group of +15 and they accommodated us quickly and without any fuss. We sat at two large tables and they quickly served us water and placed cutlery and plates in front of us.
The servers were always swarming around bringing us water or refilling our drink glasses. The food was not ordered by me, but it was served quickly and the waiters took used plates from the table as soon as we were finished.
They had something that looked like asparagus, felt like asparagus, but tasted like broccoli. I liked it. The pasta dishes are good and the portions were fair.
I would definitely return. -

My neighbor had a Groupon she couldn't use so she gave it to me - am I glad she did - had lunch there and loved the bread. Had the butternut squash ravioli which was also very good.
Thought the waiter was really good and like the place - not close to where I live but definitely go back. -
Review from Jenny T.
Parking: ridiculous. and non-existent. I almost backed into a trash can the spaces are so tight.
Service: decent...it took awhile for someone to come help us...and I don't remember too much courtesy or anything...
Interior: classy, romantic, well-done. We came for lunch, I can see it being realll nice during dinner time with good lighting.
Food: Pretty good, I guess. The pasta was a little on the rich side. I rarely can't finish my food, but this was intense. The flavors, the heaviness... but that could alsobe attributed to the AMAZING bread that was served. holy CRAP I had a whole basket of that. +1 star just for the bread....
All-in-all nothing special, though. And I think it was on the pricy side too. -

As the evening slips into night, the tables in Argia's turn over from families with children to families without. The age range narrows, the lights dim, and the corks pop.
Because you are a fantastic conversationalist, the fact that the food is absolutely okay doesn't matter. Your date is savoring your witty banter. Because you've stepped up your workout regimen, she can't take her eyes off of you to notice the decor is so-so. You look great in that shirt and she doesn't even notice that the prices are moderate. Order another bottle of wine, friend. Tonight you are going to get maximum value for minimum investment, and the bar will stay open until midnight or so depending on business, so you can get down to yours.
If she breaks your heart in six months so you can never go back here, you won't be missing much. But if she turns out to be the one, and you come back every year for an anniversary dinner, you'll be just fine. Even when yours is the table with all the children.Listed in: After 10pm in FC

Better than Olive Garden, but not quite a swoon your ladyfriend over mouth-melting pasta experience. No strong gravitating effect for me to return.

Surprised by the glow of last review. We shared a tomato/mozzarella salad - generous slabs of cheese but the quantity and quality of tomato was less than impressive.
I had penne with sausage - OK but not the sausage was not particularly tasty. My wife had angel hair pasta with mozzarella and tomatoes - an OK pasta dish but rather ordinary.
Service was excellent. Good wine prices. Parking has gotten really tight here with the next door fish shack doing a great business.
I had a $50 certificate for $25 cash - made the meal seem much better. Again. it's nice to have in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go too far out of my way to get here. Oops, said that before.....1 Previous Review: Show all »

I attended this restaurant for a big family occasion recently, and was pleased with the overall experience.
The goods:
Everything we ordered was delicious. I ordered a dish with penne pasta, goat cheese, spinach, and some other vegetables, and was not disappointed! A bunch of us ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was also very good, and came with some tasty sauce.
I also liked the unique menu choices; my boyfriend ordered a dish with shrimp and grits, which, while not usually my ideal type of dish (not a huge grits fan in general), tasted pretty good. They had a great wine selection also.
The not-so-goods:
The waiter, while very charismatic and friendly, kept coming back because he couldn't remember some of our orders. Initially I was impressed that he was trying to remember everyone's orders in his head, without writing it down, but when he had to come back several times, it started to seem kind of silly. Because of that, getting our food probably took a bit longer than it normally would have.
Overall I'd recommend this restaurant if you like Italian food! -

I really like the atmosphere at Argia's. The service is usually very attentive and polite. I have yet to have a complaint about the wait staff. Also, the venue is very comfortable, quiet, clean, and even roomy. After living in the area for a while, I realize these are not universal qualities and should be noted when discovered together.
The food has been middle of the road, in my mind. Never bad, but not particularly memorable. I still come back from time to time just because I like the experience as a whole. And it never hurts to have a groupon to keep me coming back... -

Service: Excellent
Location: Excellent (can't miss it as it's right next to the State Theater)
Food: Excellent (larger/heartier portions are a plus)
Price: Good
Recommend: Yes
I've always driven past this restaurant as it is directly on a main road in Falls Church however, never thought to try it out despite it always looking crowded until last night. A friend and I decided to try it out after picking it out among the Zagat-rated restaurants in the area for Italian dining. Our waiter was prompt, attentive and courteous the whole time. The food--had a pizza and my friend the ravioli--came out hot and delicious. Both dishes were more than enough for one person (but not enough for 2 to share) and with their prices ranging around $15-20 per entree, in my opinion one will get what one pays for (portion-wise). -
Review from Alison L.
I went to this restaurant the other night... there were a lot of big groups, and the food took a whole hour to arrive-- so I really could've written my yelp review during that wait time... but instead we killed a few more beers than should and chowed down bread with our appetizer.
The food was decent....very rich flavors. Ordered the house special raviolis which were well done, and the chicken marsala, which was also very tasty. The sauces are quite rich and creamy. The fresh spaghetti was great. Definitely tasted home made and not out of the barilla box.
I may have to check out the happy hour. They have specials every day of the week I believe. They do a fixed price Thurs for $30, 3 course meal... they have half off wine mondays...a pizza night... etc.
Convenient neighborhood italian, with decent food but nothing to rave about. -

What restaurant did the other reviewers eat in!? The 3.5 star average this place has, proves a theory I've had for a long time--a lot of people LIKE bad Italian food! Perhaps it reminds them of the Spaghettio's and Chief Boyardee they had as a kid or maybe they've just never had REAL Italian food?
We ate here on a quiet Sunday night, there was 4 of us so we got a good sampling of what this place has to offer, and folks there is nothing to write home about.
I had the celery root and apple soup du jour to start. I was really looking forward to it cause it sounded great, well, "sounds" can be deceiving, it was a lukewarm tasteless frappe, the only thing good about it was we were able to soak our stale bread in it.
We also had the Caprice salad, tasteless waxy tomato's on-top of sub-par mozzarella.
I had the spinach raviolis for my main, thank god I ordered the small dish! Not sure my heart could have taken a large serving of the gut busting sludge they called "cream sauce".
We also got an order of gnocchi-- eeegawds! This dish went back to the chef after one bite! Small globs of under cooked wallpaper glue in a tasteless sauce.
The other mains were so unimpressive I can't even remember them.
The dessert wasn't bad, so kudos to whatever purveyor they bought it from (it had taste so I'm guessing they didn't make it).
In general, Argias does ONE thing very well, that's figuring out a way to remove the TASTE from their food.
PS
The service was good, but with food this blah, what does it really matter? -
Review from Ni C.
Seems like a pretty solid place for Italian--they have a 1/2 bottle night on Mondays which is nice.
Had the arancini which were delicious and the marinara had a great kick--was perfect for dipping the fresh foccacia in. Had the single portion Ceasar--but could have easily split it!
Will probably come again...only bummer was that where I was sitting, I would have the occasional drift of cigarette smoke from the kitchen... -

3.5 Stars.
I thought the food here was pretty tasty. I went with five friends before heading to the State Theatre for a show. We shared a family-size spinach salad as an appetizer. It was plenty for all of us, and a really good deal price-wise I would say. It was also really tasty!
I think the entrees were a little bit more pricey compared to the salad for what you got. I ordered the orecchiette; I thought it tasted good, but nothing more than some homemade pasta with vegetables and tomato sauce-not really worth $16. Service was efficient and the server was really warm and outgoing. I think my friend made a reservation (Friday night; 7:30 pm), but it seemed like you might not have to wait that long to get a table.
I just have trouble justifying paying $15-20 for pasta, so that's why I am giving this 3.5 stars. -

Arrived for a late lunch this afternoon and left content. Service was good, food had its high points, and when you are the only two people in an empty room the noise level is yours for the choosing.
Started with the gambero bruschetta and it was a bit dry. Ricotta, sun-dried tomatoes, and shrimp on toast is tough to mess up, true. But it could have used something in the bite to offer a counterpoint. Maybe a paper-thin slice of plum tomato to sit between bread and "gambero?" Maybe.
Mussels were good as always; and the linguine with shrimp, cherry tomatoes, fennel, tarragon in a saffron cream sauce sounded great - and wasn't bad. My palate probably isn't educated enough to pick up on a good use of saffron.
Best part of an otherwise good pasta dish was the linguine itself. High quality pasta, good bite, cooked perfectly, yet still light. Hey Argia's - send a case of wine to whoever makes your pasta, they deserve it. -

Interesting mix of reviews.
My experience here was perfect. The service was good, the plates were clean and the food was fantastic.
We came here on a (slow) Friday night and felt severely under dressed compared to the other patrons. The interior was cute, intimate and quiet. After scanning the menu, we both decided to go with two of their specials that night. Him, fettuccine alfredo with jumbo lump crab meat, prosciutto and green apples! YUM. Awesome party of flavors going on in each bite. I went with the butternut squash risotto with jumbo shrimp and grape tomatoes. We both agreed that my dish was the best of the two. It just had a lot more flavor to it.
I would definitely return here for another quiet dinner and to check out what other specials they're offering. The bartender was heavy on the pour too, so that's a big plus. -

A friend of mine dragged me out to Argia's during restaurant week earlier this year. It was the middle of the week and we had a semi-early reservation, so the restaurant was pretty slow, and our waiter made up for it by gracing us with his ever hovering presence. We actually had to so boldly tell him not to come by every two minutes because we were trying to enjoy our evening. After that, my experience was much better, and I have since been back again.
This is a middle of the road restaurant, in terms of serving true Italian food. It's not an Olive Garden, but it's not that quaint little Sicilian restaurant by the sea. The entrees and the wine are okay, not fantastic, but where the restaurant redeems is in it's dessert choices. Both times I've been, I've ordered the blood orange sorbet, and it is absolutely to die for. I lived in Italy for five years and have strong memories of fresh gelatos and sorbets that tasted as if the fruit had been whole mere moments before, and this sorbet brings me back to those days.
Order the sorbet, hit the State Theater, tell your waiter to back off when he's panting so hard at your table that you're afraid he's going to drool in your food, and enjoy mid-priced, average tasting Italian food. I promise it won't be the worst experience you've ever had. -

Came here for weekday lunch thanks to the LivingSocial deal. Bad first impression because of cleanliness (i.e.- lipstick on water glass, food debris on plate, dirty cloth napkin, water spots on silverware). However, when the food came out we were quite relieved the food was actually pretty good. My Bistecchina Panini was delicious. I didn't seem to think my wife's Fettuccini Con Gambero was all that, but she sure liked it. In fact one of the first comments my wife made about this place was that it felt authentic.
We'll definitely be coming again for dinner after which I hope to say I'm a fan of this place. -

We got take out cuz they have little to no seating. We used Groupon to find this place, got $50 for $25. The food was cold and nasty. They even forgot the noodles to one of the pasta dishes, it was just the sauce and shrimp. What a waste of $25. I wouldn't spend another dime in the place. I would have rather spent the $25 and got a few McRibs. I wish I could post a picture of the pile puke they gave to us.

I had a very nice experience at Argia's! I had a Groupon for it and a girl friend and I decided to go there one night. It was a Wednesday and about 8pm, so it was pretty dead. And there was no music on, which made for some awkward silence as you listen to the table next door and the paintings on the wall are quite odd, but overall I liked it.
The food was very good. It was a Wednesday so it was 'Mussels Madness' and I ordered their mussels argia - yummy! They were very flavorful and there were so many! Def an appetizer to share for only $7! I then ordered the Pappardelle with Lamb Ragu. It was a very yummy, comforting dish. My friend ordered a fettucine and enjoyed their homemade pasta.
Dessert had to be the best part. They have the BEST cannoli I've ever had! That's saying something. It had a great vanilla flavor that really brought out the taste and they served it with some berries and a raspberry sauce - awesome!
Our waiter, Peter, was also VERY helpful, very fun, and we'll come back just to see him!
Thanks for a good experience Argia's! -

I really enjoy this cozy, inviting restaurant next to the State Theater in Falls Church. The decor is welcoming, with a rustic style mural and family pictures adorning the walls. The service is usually OK and the food is always good. I like the antipasti platter and their mussels in wine to start with. Their pizza is also pretty good. Skip the bread they bring out and save room for entrees.
On my last visit this week, I had the risotto balls that were surprisingly light but seasoned well. The marinara sauce had a hidden kick to it.
It should be noted that most of the pasta here is made in house with the exception of the penne and gluten-free. My BF had the fettuccine salsiccia with sausage, butternut squash and broccolini. His pasta tasted good but was a bit dry and could have benefited from some kind of stock.
The real highlight for me on this last visit was my pappardelle with lamb ragu. OMG good and it is comfort food at its best. It tasted like something an Italian grandmother would make for guests in her home. The pappardelle tasted fresh and the lamb was so tender. The ragu had a wonderful base to it, complemented by a little fennel. I chose to pair it with the Coltibuono Cetamura Chianti 2008. Perfect pairing in my opinion, as the earthiness and berries flavor brought out the wonderful flavors of the ragu. I'm happy to have a solid Italian place in the metro area and will definitely return. -

Martinis for me! Martinis for you! I've only been to Argia's, by the State Theatre, for happy hour. I went reluctantly with some friends because I had a martini jones and didn't think I could get a good one here.... WRONG.
Argia's has a martini menu with more variety than Baskin Robbins... and they're excellent. Our favorites so far:
1. Traditional Extra Dirty
2. Apple
3. Chocolate Espresso
Because their drinks are so good and the staff there is very friendly, sometimes we've ended up ordering dinner at the bar. One thing not to miss: The mussels in wine and garlic sauce. I'm craving it just writing about it. I've also had the spaghetti with meatballs that rocked.
I really can't say enough about how friendly and fun the bartenders, especially Steve, are. If you're going to a show at The State Theatre (or just happen to be in the area) definitely stop here.Listed in: The Places I Go Out

Really nice italian restaurant just off of hwy 66 near Falls Church Village.
The salads and entres are good sized and delicious. The wine selection is small but has something for everyone.
I recently had the mussels and the arugula salad and the grilled chicken and all were delicious.
Suggest that you get the dressing on the side, and also ask them to reduce the salt on the meats (you can always add more but you cant take it off).
I have eaten here some dozen times and have yet to have a bad or of meal. Service is always prompt.
In nice weather they serve outside too..
Right next to the State Theater ! -

Went here on a Sunday night and happened to luck into their Sunday night all you can eat pasta special. Unfortunately, this was the only good thing about the meal.
The bread that they brought us must have been baked on Tuesday because it tasted old and lacked any flavor. And I think they were trying to get rid of it because our basket was overflowing. If only it were good!
Ordered the shrimp fettucini dish which looked like somebody just threw together all the ingredients in a skillet and then pushed it onto a plate. And it tasted like that too, just a mess of jumbled flavors.
The eggplant parm was decent but the portion was not generous at all. I'd expect my $16 to buy a few more noodles and few more pieces of eggplant.
The spaghetti and meatballs was, for some reason, pretty spicy. In fact, all the dishes were overly spicy. I think somebody in the kitchen that night was trigger happy with a shaker of red pepper flakes.
For dinner in FC, I'd rather spend a lot less and get larger portions of dishes that are better prepared.1 Previous Review: Show all »

3 1/2 Stars
I have to admit, I'm knocking off some points on this review due to two very mediocre experiences at Argia's from a couple years ago. Having said that, I may be willing to bump them up to a full four stars if I have another good experience at Argia's like I did last night.
We went for a quick bite before a show at the State Theatre next door. The server didn't give us any grief about helping us try to make the show on time, which I know can be an annoyance. I ordered a salad and a polenta appetizer. Both were quite good, especially the Bolognese sauce served on top of the creamy polenta. Prices seem to have come down somewhat - which they needed to, because this place used to be very expensive for a neighborhood-type joint. I'll give it another shot to see if they can earn that fourth star. -

Hit this place on Saturday and was pretty disappointed.
The rating is so high because the service and atmosphere was great. Too bad the food was lacking.
I had the gnocchi and the napoli pizza (to share). The gnocchi was not light and fluffy and tasted more like they lopped off a piece of potato, boiled it, and covered it in cream. The cream sauce was decent, but again, nothing to write home about.
The pizza was downright bad. Crust was thick and doughy. The cheese didn't taste like mozzarella. We only made it through half.
The bread and olive oil to start the meal were the highlight.
