Areus is a totally unique place set outside of the main town of Walla Walla in the rolling, majestic and rather surreal wheat fields of this amazing rich farming community. The inn is a mid-century farm house turned into this zen retreat where the evenings are quiet, contemplative and soulful. My cell phone didn't work, no wifi and no TV. For the first time in months I was forced to relax without connecting to the world outside. The yoga studio was phenomenal for some morning sun salutations and the grounds complete eye candy for a soul seeking rest and ease on the eyes.
The proprietors being an architect and the other a fashion designer is clearly apparent in the surroundings, you won't find the attention to detail like this in most urban boutique hotels (if any). If you like a retreat away from it all, have a calling to feel the heartland, need a high designed and cared for environment... go no further. WOW, I will be back. Thank you.
I would give it 4.5 stars...and the .5 star would happen...should happen with Areus increasing my sense of arrival and a sign (real or ceremonially) that you are there; it is so non-desrcript that I wasn't sure I arrived...but once I did arrive, I was glad I did.
