Good times at Area IV! Area IV is small, and can be smoky, but it really is the perfect place when you are looking for a low key night out. They have a handful of retired cops that are regulars, but is is a neighborhood bar first and foremost with patrons of all ages, a great jukebox with good sound, and drinks that are unbelievably cheap.
The bar itself is super tiny. So you will be sure to become fast friends with anyone sitting next to you. And if you are sitting next to someone that you don't want to be friends with, the bartenders have a real talent for running interference. Very comfortable. Okay well this review is going to be taken from a younger person's viewpoint.
I'll go ahead and say the good first. Cheap beer, and friendly people. Music is normally pretty good too.
And now for the bad. If your a younger person you will stick out like a sore thumb. The crowd is easy 40+ year old patrons. I look young for my age and they didn't even bother carding me. I guess they figured no one under 21 is going to try to come in... especially if it's a cop bar. Also everyone knows each other; so if your a new face you will probably feel isolated.
The place is a hole in the wall but honestly I wasn't expecting a palace.
Definitely worth while if your not looking for anything exciting, and some cheap drinks.
