This is by far my favorite winery in Oregon.

I've been to several gorgeous ones, don't get me wrong. However, some of the best ones *know* they're the best ones, and therefore their prices reflect that and their attitudes and clientele reflect that and it becomes a competition for how much can I drop on a tasting and what foreign car should I bring with me on my tasting occasion?

Wine tasting is elegant and is a wonderful weekend hobby that us Willamette Valley-dwellers don't indulge in enough; however, the reason why I adore Ardiri is for their "we know we're awesome but we're going to treat everyone the same and offer $5 tastings and incredible views." The views here are incredible any time of the year; their glasses of wine to enjoy by their fire pits (complete with fleece blankets!) are only $5, and their bottles of wine are totally fair market price compared to some of their local competitors. Their pinots are some of my favorites that I've ever had. They also have a great wine club program that is much more affordable compared to some other local establishments as well.

Ardiri is relatively newer in recent years; however, they are not off the beaten path-- if anything the privacy is reason enough for a weekend visit instead of sharing tables with swarms of visitors in other tasting rooms in the valley.

I highly recommend a stop here-- the views won't disappoint!

This winery is located WAY out in the country, I would say more closer to Hillsboro than Cornelius. The drive to get here is absolutely gorgeous!! Rolling hills, lots of farms, trees, etc... And the views from the winery are gorgeous! I could see Mt. Hood perfectly.

The day I came was on a hot blistering August day. The friends I came with were VERY relieved to get here so we could get some water. The girl running the wine tasting was very helpful and friendly and gave us plenty of water and didn't mind one bit that I took a few pics for this review. My friends (and my friends daughters friends) seemed to be enjoying the variety of wines and had a good time sitting around just chatting and drinking away, even though it was 85º in the shade!! There were some other patrons also here and they also were having a good time drinking, eating, and being merry.

I personally did not like their wines (but that is because I am more of a sweet "dessert" wine drinker) but hey...as long as everyone else was happy and the fact that everyone received great customer service is what counts.

Ardiri Winery like so many starts with an interesting story featured by its owners. The word Ardiri means "taking a risk" in Sicilian, which is inspired by John Compagno the winemakers Italian heritage. Their label design is showcased by a double helix which references the owner's full-time careers in the molecular field of DNA testing. The winery is on a beautiful piece of property not far from Hillsboro located in Cornelius. It was completely renovated from a former winery to form Ardiri's less than 3 year old facility. Like other wineries in the area they specialize in Pinot Noir but feature something that makes them stand apart. The owners like so many I have met originally came from the Napa Valley. Therefore they own a small 5 acre parcel located in Carneros, CA  which they harvest and source fruit from in order to showcase California bred Pinot Noir. My experience in the Oregon wine industry had me first saying this move is pretty ballsy but I also give them credit for bringing something different to their guests. They give them a chance to see, smell and taste the differences between California and Oregon Pinot Noir. Yes they do make an Oregon Pinot, one which just scored 29th place in Portland Monthly's 50 best Oregon wines!

I actually got to taste all of their wines the day I visited although two are currently unreleased to the public. First was the 07 Carneros PN ($40) which stood out with a burst of cherries ending with an intense spicy finish, next up the 08 Carneros PN ($45) which was much milder focused more on its fruit profile and acid balance. Finally the 09 Oregon Vineyard Select PN ($45) was bigger with more body than its CA cousins, featuring darker fruits of plum and blackberry but what impressed me most was its structure and length, it would make a great food wine. Yes I'm an Oregon Pinot loyalist but I can appreciate their attempt to demonstrate the differences in both. Overall I think the CA Pinot are lighter, more approachable and will probably appeal to a greater audience. However the Oregon PN shows why our state is known for producing some of the best temperamental juice out there! The unreleased wines I tried are the 09 Carneros PN ($45) that demonstrated a smoky campfire like quality and the Due Stati ($29), which means "two states" a blended wine with both OR and CA Pinot Noir. I thought it had an amazingly floral nose, it utilizes a 70% CA 30% OR ratio giving the CA wine a lot more structure to work with. Enough talk about Pinot because I must include one more wine, their white called Chehalem Gold ($25). This wine is brought together by 50% Pinot Gris and 50% Pinot Blanc and named after the grapes growing region. This interesting blend helps wake up these typically tart varietals but the real surprise is between the two vintages. The 10 is fresh, with notes of pear and apple, ending with a crisp finish. The 09 however is tropical almost like a Viognier with tastes of guava and pineapple. This is because they have changed the residual sweetness which increases the fruit intensity. Either would be great on a hot summer day like when I came to visit.

The manager Zack will make sure you are in good hands; he's informative, knowledgeable and has a great personality. The tasting room has many well appointed features and finishes that show off its quality and attention to detail. The overall property is very welcoming as it features a huge patio, outdoor trellis and even two roll up garage doors for nice cool evenings. There are several covered sections that lend shade on hot summer days or tables with fire pits for when we hit our cooler seasons. On a clear day this winery will even give you a magnificent view of distant Mt. Hood which will complete your day of tasting as you relax with friends over some great wines.

Wow!!! This is a gem on the Oregon wine scene. Stunning views. A gorgeous tasting area with fabulous outdoor seating with fire and cover from the weather. Very classy! Excellent wine. A family run operation and very friendly. The tasting fees are on the high end but we felt the experience was worth the cost. Nice assortment of snacks to purchase as well. Other reviewers have said that their grapes are only grown in Napa. That's not true. They have two vineyards; one in Napa and one in the Willamette Valley and they are doing some interesting comparison growing of grapes. Tasting room open year-round on the weekends, according to their website. We'll be back.

Yesterday afternoon I brought my wine group out here for a wine tasting.  There were 35 of us.

Ardiri Winery sits in a gorgeous setting with views over the valley to Mt Hood.  They have a large outdoor covered patio with cozy seating areas, a fireplace as well as a large outdoor gas firepit.  It is very California-esque, ie., much more fancy pants than your typical Oregon winery

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.  I worked with Karen to set up this event for my group and she was a pleasure to work with and went out of her way to accomodate our group.

The wines are decent, specializing in Pinots.  My favorite is the '07!

This is the perfect setting for an event up to about 40-50 people.

I can't give this place a 5 star yet because they are trucking their grapes up from California.  Not exactly eco-friendly.

Great friendly family winery. Kind of a ways out there. We found this hidden gem while we were wine adventuring and found signs that lead us to them. It was memorial day weekend so they had all sorts of catering food, some jams for sale and painter with her collection of art. We bought some wine and enjoyed a glass by their large bonfire and meet some interesting ppl. I would definitely come here again.

Not open year round, so you have to wait for a holiday weekend.  Beautiful wines, especially the 07 and the 08 Pinots.  These wines taste very pure.  I have to say that their Helix logo was a turnoff, but I am glad I didn't let that cloud my judgment.  I can't find anything offensive, or unlikable about these wines, except the fact that the grapes are from California instead of Oregon (but that's just being picky), and maybe the length was not as long as I would have liked.  I would definitely see myself purchasing this wine in the future.  It was worth the visit........See my other reviews for more good wines in Oregon.
