Stopped by arctic roadrunner after passing it and looking for a bite. Seeing the reviews here that sound like its the best burger in town helped make that decision. I tried the Kenai Whopper, my friend had a plain cheese burger and chili, and then we split the fries and onion rings. Over all, the food was great. No complaints about it at all. We sat out on the patio, and we couldn't really hear the girl over the mike, even though she said we would. We peeked in, and our food had been up for a minute or two... and they weren't that busy (2 other tables aside from us, 1 out, 1 in). My only real complaint was my shake. It was good, but I didn't pay attention to the price when I ordered it. A large shake is 7.90!! That was more expensive than anything else we ordered.
Still, good food, and a good shake... but not a $7.90 shake ;)
    I'll be back here again!

Decided to give this place a shot. Order the bacon burger after it was recommended by the cashier. Made it to a meal and ordered a side of onion rings. Receive order about 5 mins later. The burger was nothing special. Fell apart as i bite into it. Taste pretty plain. The fries typical. The onion rings seem like it was just slice and grilled. i was expecting some deep fried onion rings. Paid about $13 for all that which i only ate half the burger and a few slice of onion rings. So the food experience is okay at best. The inside a little old looking. The service was okay. Overall i wont be back to try again.

I really dont get this place, but whatever, its my opinion.

Cash only? Thats just awkward.  You have been warned, prepared  to be punished with ATM fees.

The burger I had was very average.. I did like the fresh bun.  However there were some serious flaws.

I thought the burger was overseasoned... Im not afraid to reach for a salt or pepper shaker but it was a bit too salty for me.  Additionally when I was going to add a little ketchup and mustard, the greens were wilty, and looking brown.   FWIW
I usually take a bite first before I add the other stuff.

I did order a smaller cheeseburger, I understand that the pattys are all hand made but it seemed to me the one I got was very thin.

I know that this is literally a landmark in anchorage, but as famous as this place is Its never really crowded.  Perhaps is a location thing, I had a better burger at the old seward location.

I agree with the other positive reviews of their burgers. This place is family owned and everything I ate there was quality in every way.  Want to add that the fries were quite good and would rate a solid five stars. Also had a chocolate shake and was not surprised to find that it was made with real ice cream and prepared on the premises, not with an industrial mix. Worth it to take the time to have a meal here. Also the servers and everyone there was as nice as can be.

Good food here... Definitely worth the stop in the summer time.

    BUT

Bring cash. They don't take credit cards, debit cards, or checks.

    ODD.

The other half and I went on a "burger bender" a few weeks ago and gave Arctic Roadrunner a try, as we drive past it 5 days a week. It did not disapoint. I tried the bacon cheeseburger and we split an order of fries. Now I'm not sure if it was because we were starving or if the fries are really that awesome all the time, but they were darn good. The only downside to our experience was that I had to remove the beloved bacon from my burger as it was too salty (and I am the queen of sodium..so that's saying a lot...).

After telling a few people that we gave it a go, and hearing "get the onion rings next time" from each of them, I gave the onion rings a go today, paired with a plain cheeseburger. Good, but the fries were definitely better. My burger on the other hand? Amazing. And it had to sit for a good 20 minutes before I could even eat it. Bread was amazingly fresh, burger juicy...and lots of lettuce. Mmmm...

But as mentioned before, they only take cash. They do have an ATM inside, but unless you want to pay an extra $2.50 for your $20, I would suggest having it on hand.

If you are in Anchorage and feel like you've had WAY too much fish...this is a great place to have a burger break! They have some fun different flavored ones too!

Remember...they don't take credit cards, so bring that cash!

Somehow I'd lived in Anchorage for almost 20 years before I finally checked out Roadrunner--I feel like I missed out on so much!  Now, everytime I visit home, it becomes a must before I leave again.

The burgers are to die for.  Thick, juicy, perfectly grilled.  The milkshake follow along the same lines, minus perfectly grilled--replace that with perfectly frosty.

Plus, in the summers you can enjoy the beautiful Alaskan scenery with a little creek running nearby.  It is a something everyone should check out--especially when you're sick of seafood.

Roadrunner is a cool little burger shop in Anchorage, Alaska. Someone I was working with treated me to a great sandwich here.

The restaurant is pretty cool. The walls are littered with all sorts of pictures of both famous and non-famous locals.

Ordering your meal is like ordering at fuddruckers. You tell them what you want, pay, and then they give you a number. In all the service was fast, we got our food within five minutes of sitting.

It was definitely one of the better burgers I've ever had. Unfortunately the menu items were a la carte and I had to order onion rings separately. Luckily my boy hooked me and I didn't have to pay.

I have to say we weren't impressed with the burgers. They were REALLY greasy and wet. I tried a peanut butter milkshake which took AGES for them to make and then was completely disgusting when I finally got it. I ordered onion rings and those were a clumped up, greasy mess. I couldn't eat them. I was excited to get there but heavily disappointed when i left. Also probably the only place in Anchorage that only accepts cash. Weird.

Stopped in had the bacon burger with onion rings and the wife had the halibut burger with coleslaw.

Both burgers were good coleslaw was ok and the onion rings were good.
Probably not the best burger that you have ever eaten in your life but they were good and the price was right.  Both meals for less than $20.00.

Summer is nice to sit outside next to the creek that is right outside the restaurant.

This is your typical hole-in-the-wall burger shop.  My burger (plain cheeseburger) was very tasty, but my husband's double deluxe type burger tasted like cardboard.  My husbands was simply GROSS!  The milk shake was great, along with the fries.  Stay simple and you will be happy.

Nice, local, shabby little joint off the beaten path. Good place to get a greasy burger, fries, and a milkshake, then walk home hugging your overly-full belly. Cash only.

Good burger!  Very nice to have a bar with burger toppings.  We got apple cider and the mug had grimy stuff on the outside, so we took it back.  Other than that it was a fun meal and I loved all the stuff on the walls.
