Review from Jen B.
Went here for a 30th birthday dinner for a dear friend not really knowing what to expect. It was more Italian, with Spanish music in the background.
Thanks to Yelp I got a free drink with my check in. I had a choice of a grapparita or a bellini and took the suggestion of the bartender and went with the grapparita. It was really good, a frozen drink similar to a margarita. Whatever was on the rim of glass though I could do without...it was sticky and uber sweet.
I ordered the pasta feature of the day which included tons of seafood and pasta in a lighter sauce. It was really good. All of it. -

What a great dining experience! We were at dinner with a customer and from the great food to the most incredible service my party had a great dinner.
I had a teardrop pasta with a veal sauce that was very tasty. Two in our group had the full sea bass and they took such particular car in deboning the fish to perfection. I was told the fish was amazing.
The waiter did such an amazing job. Taking the time to go through EVERY item on the menu and explain it and give personal suggestions from the food to the wine.
I would definitely dine here again.Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 4/10/2012

Arcadoro Pomodoro is still my favorite restaurant in Dallas; providing some of the best dining experiences I ever had. Their previous location is where most of my memories come from. Your dress determined to what side you were placed; but that was understood and appreciated. You could drop in; or make it an evening event all in one place. That was 5 stars without a doubt.
Then they moved to the crescent. While this made the experience more upscale, it also made things more inconvenient. The frequency of my visits went from at least twice a month to, at most, once a quarter. The atmosphere is much more "sanitary" unless you dine in a private room.
With that said; I still suggest this place hands down. I have never had a meal there that is not excellent. The emphasis on Sardinian cuisine makes me want to relocate to the island and never come back. I would work in their kitchen, for free, if it meant that I could learn to cook in this style.Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 4/4/2012

I decided to give this a try and felt that the best part of this dining experience was the service.
The knowledgeable staff was extremely attentive and the manager took the time to chat with each table.
The actual main course was ok. I had linguini with clams but the clams were not appetizing (mind you, I heart clams..).
The part of the evening that was my absolute favorite was the homemade cheesecake with generous toppings of fresh raspberries, blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. Go for the dessert menu and a glass of wine. :DComment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 4/4/2012

Read the reviews, and cannot slam it that hard, I really thought
the service was outstanding. We went earlier this year, and
felt the same way.
Service - very good
Food - variable
- Starches - very good, unique
- Meats - pretty weak
Neither got seafood, so it may be good for that.
But given the prices and food quality (not bad, just
not great), it is a solid three stars, maybe worse for
the price sensitive. -

This is always a favorite of mine. I have been dining here for years. I can remeber the cool house they used to be in before their big move to their current location in the crescent hotel. I usually stick with the plethora of pasta and seafood dishes available. I'm never disappointed!

Food was amazing and the service was wonderful. The only thing I thought was awkward that after parking in the parking garage and taking the elevators up, I had to walk through the kitchen to get to the host stand. What if someone just had to sneeze when they walked through there? Other than that I really enjoyed it.

SLOWEST. SERVICE. EVER.
I don't know what in the world was going on, but everything...was...soooo...slowwww. Except for getting our food, that was quick, which is nice because that is usually the part where every other restaurant is slow at. We ordered food around 9:15, and I was leaving at 11:30. That is way too long of a dining experience. The servers were very nice and helpful, however. I ordered the veal, which was in a citrus-y sauce. It was really good, I liked it. The place itself is nice!
So, me and a couple friends actually purchased the coupon that is on Yelp (the $10 for $20 fare). When it came time to pay for our meal, the manager came and told us he would only accept one coupon per party. We were pretty much like what the hell, because we each purchased one, and no where on the coupon did it say that they would only accept one per table. I even called ahead of time to make sure, and the lady on the phone assured if it was not a restriction on the coupon then I was in the clear. We had to argue with the manager for a good five or six minutes! I finally was like, "Can you please read this coupon, it clearly states one per person!" After finally listening to what I was trying to say, he had nothing to say and said "okay fine". Rude. He wasn't nice about it from the minute he came to our table. Not returning probably. -

Very nice place, service was excellent. We had a http://restaurant.com certificate so we tried it out. My husband had the lamb chops, he would recommend that dish. I had grilled salmon - I have calamari as appetizer and salmon 90% of the time we eat out so I can say this was not the best. Was not taken back by their menu and wine options, I can't say this was a great place. IF you use http://restaurant.com certificate to this place, make sure to print it out - they didn't take ours from mobile.

Solid 1 star place.. :)
Officially my first review under 4 stars and it is definitely very much well deserved.
First off, it's probably my fault for even coming here in the first place judging strictly from the 2 - 3 star reviews on yelp, which has never steered me wrong. But against my better judgment, its proximity to my apartment, and the fact they served Italian food, I decided to give it a shot.
Strike #1: The hostess called ahead to confirm our reservation on May 10 and I told her we'd be there and asked if she could put us somewhere a bit quieter for my wife's birthday. Honestly, I didn't think this was too much to ask (but, I now stand corrected). We arrived at 7:25 for our 7:30 reservation, at about 7:35 we were lead to our "quiet" table right beside a 10 - 15 person happy hour in their bar area.
Really, you have to be freaking kidding me. Okay, whatever.. I guess we'll sit at this table with the 10 - 15 people loudly talking, when I had specifically asked for a quiet spot.
Our waiter came by at about 7:40 and asked if we wanted drinks, which we kindly asked him what he recommended. He suggested drinks off their happy hour menu (remember this goober suggested drinks off their happy hour, which are priced at $4) and told us to try their Grapparita (or something, but think Italian margarita). We proceeded to order 2 and that took the bar about another 20 minutes to crank out, but they were good. Our waiter also recommended the Bellinis which sucked.
**Shout out: The Bellinis at Johnny Carinos BLOW these out of the water.
Strike #2: The waiter tried to take our drink menu twice and I told him twice that we'd like to keep it so we could order more drinks. But, I guess this place only has 1 freaking drink menu because eventually they just took it right off our table later without asking. Hell, if you want it that bad, take it I guess. We just won't be ordering any more drinks! Must've been for the tables that actually got to sit in the nice area of the restaurant.
Appetizers:
Calamarri Fritti: Good.
Carpaccio di Manzi: Really good, though I really hate to compliment this place.
Main Course:
Risotto al Radicchio e Qauglie: Really $20 for this? Rice was bland and the quail was beyond tiny.
Capesante e Gamberoni: She got this and wasn't too enthused. She thought the flavors of ginger, honey, cilantro or whatever else was in the sauce would be better blended, but the honey was over powering, which was not a great taste with sautéed shrimp and scallops. The rice was good, but I think her exact words after the experience was, "We could've gone to Olive Garden".
Desert:
Sfogliatina Alle Mele Con Geleto Al Miele Amaro: Good.
Strike #3: There was a dude, possibly the manager, in a gray suit asking all the tables in the doro bar area "how their evening was", etc, but he kindly didn't say one damn word to us. Probably because I would've told him that the restaurant sucks.
Strike #4: After reviewing the bill we found the waiter had over charged us on drinks. They were $4, the waiter decided to charge us $8.50 for each and slip in another appetizer. And when I wanted to bring it to our waiters attention he was nowhere to be found. Literally, he disappeared for about 25 minutes and I had to ask the bartender to find our waiter. Did I mention we were the only table in the area at the time? When I asked the waiter about the charges he said "oh" and left. I mean, really, he didn't even try to question it.
Like she said "we should've gone to Olive Garden"....
Crappiest birthday dinner ever.
Thanks & gig'em. -

We've meant to try this place for a while, finally!
First, I don't understand why we were seated at the lounge/bar area, I thought I did make a reservation? Maybe the Maitre d' decided my Armani shorts and Marni shoes are too casual for the dinning area where there are lots of Steve Madden shoes and Forever21 dresses (sorry, but I am a shoe snob).
Never mind, as long as the food is good.
We tried the octopus, the scallops, and the fillet Mignon carpaccio as starters, they were all excellent! We got very excited for our entrees. I am a huge fan of white asparagus and foie gras, so of course I ordered the risotto with white asparagus and foie gras. It was just OK, disappointed with the size of the foie gras was the size of a piece of chicken liver; DH ordered suckling pig, portion of the suckling pig was meager for the price, and we were disappointed to see carrots and broccoli on the plate, that's a lack of imagination to say the least.
I guess I still haven't find a replacement for Nobu. -

I absolutely love this place. I have been here twice and had an amazing experience both times. For brunch, we were seated quickly, had excellent service, and the food was delicious. I had the salmon pannini, interesting flavors and the champagne was great. The second time I went it was for a weekday lunch. I had friends in town and was surprised again at the the extrodinary level of service. The waiter described the wines in great detail without prompting him. I knew what the wine would taste like before ordering it. Oh, and he volunteered to bring out a tasting before I selected a wine. For the daily specials they actually brought out three dishes and described them in detail also, down to the sauce. I love seeing food before I order it and this way I didn't have to peek around at all of my neighboring tables.

Decepetive pricing, boring atmosphere, rude hostess, poor service.
Upon arrival (15 min before reservation), the hostess looks at her watch and says "it's 9:31. wait in the bar until your reservation". It was a weird first encounter - not welcoming or friendly whatsover. Anyway, no problem - we ordered drinks. Then (10 min after our reservation time I might add) they tried to seat us underneath a tv in the bar. We said we wanted a table in the dining room (isn't that why you make reservations after all?) Eventually - 20 min after our reservation time (45 min after arrival; restaurant is not busy whatsoever and it has more open tables than occupied tables, and its past 10 pm) - we were seated.
My vegetarian friend ordered an asparagus risotto w/o the foie gras (specifying that she's vegetarian). Of course, they brough it out w/foie gras on it and then took it back, scraped it off and served it to her! Since we were in a hurry after being delayed, she just scraped that top part off and ate the rest. But, she was still charged full price as if it came with the foie gras (no discount for not getting the most expensive part of the dish)!
The worst part is actually the Pesce Al Sale (fish fileted tableside). My husband ordered the Branzino. It is not listed "for two" on the menu, and the waiter didn't explain that it is $80 if 1 person orders it. It is listed as $40. We found out after we got the bill. Plus, it isn't even big enough to serve two! We asked him about it, and he just said he thought we understood and that he "tried" to explain it. Huh? How?! There were 3 of us and none of us thought he tried to explain it! He just took the order and said it is a good-sized portion!
We waited 20 min for the bill after asking for it, even though there was only 1 other table in the place at this point.
Overall - horrible experience. Food wasn't that great, dining room is boring, they have deceptive pricing, and inexperienced/unattentive waitstaff. Don't waste your time. Check out the menu online for yourself about the fish pricing... -

MY family is PROUDLY of SARDINIAN heritage... Our last name comes from the Italian Island of Sardinia.... we love our flat crispy Carasau bread and our Sardinian Olive Oil and the Seadas, Maloreddus and all the pasta and goodies that comes with being Sardinian!! For the longest time growing up when I told people my family was from the Big Italian Island they all Assumed Sicily when I told them Sardinia Id only get blank stares.... That all changed as soon as EFISIO Farris and Family OPENED UP ARCODORO POMODORO in Dallas and Houston!! WHAT A FIND!! What a place!! Every time I go there I feel more at home than any other place in the city... It is a place I take those nearest and dearest to me to enjoy my culture and to treat them to truly refined dining experience!
FOR DESERT YOU MUST HAVE THE SEADDAS my favorite Sardinian desert as a kid and forever!! For Dinner or Lunch ANYTHING IS GOOD!!!
As a Proud Sardinian and Italian this place recieves the stamp of approval from the Arzola family!
A KENT ANNOS ARCODORO!!
Mille Grazie per rappresentare la nostra cucina!!
***UPDATE***
I find some people are giving unfavorable reviews based on trying Pasta Carbonara or Pizza... THIS is a SARDINIAN restaurant.... Im going out on a limb here and guessing that the best thing to try would be the Regional specialties of Sardegna... not the usual Italian fare youd find at Carrabbas Italian Grill...Next time stick to the Sardinian items at a Sardinian place.!Listed in: Best Authentic Mediterranean

Absolutely avoid this place. The worst dining experience in Dallas. Bad service...Check. No hostess, took 15 minutes for the waiter to come to the table after I asked the bus boy and they never ever offered desert. Bad food - that is the read deal killer. My date said she would rather just go to Olive Garden than this place! The pasta wrapped shrimp were inedible. The fish was overcooked and bland. They charge $5 for bread and that is disgusting. Overpriced...Check. I can deal with overpriced for good food. But for bad service, bad food that is unacceptable. The only thing this place has is location. But fortunately in Dallas that is no enough. Avoid this place like the plague until they get a new chef and new management.

Arcodoro & Pomodoro is one of the many dinning options at the Crescent Court. I went in looking for a real authentic bowl of pasta with some great fresh new ways of preparing. The menu was typical of American Italian food. Nothing that stood out.
I had a bowl of Carbarna because I didn't find anything else that seemed to jump out at me. I figured I would try something I had had a really good bowl of recently to test it next to. It was a large portion of pasta to be sure, but salty and cheesy, nothing complex or unique to stand out. The glasses of wine were over priced and just served in standard glass.
Perhaps its my fault. I was expecting a elegant fine dinning experience. If you want a family pasta joint then this would do. Not exactly where I would bring a date, or any Italian who is expecting a taste of home. Two stars, A&P succeeds in being a meatballs and marinara sauce Italian restaurant for those looking for one. That's about all it succeeded on. -

Went to Arc & Pom for a leisurely Friday lunch with a friend. Well, we didn't plan on it being leisurely, but it ended up that way. Upon being seated we were given a plate of three small pieces of pizza. Yum! Any meal that starts with complimentary pizza is OK by me. After much deliberation over the menu, we decided to share two entrees: the mushroom risotto and one of the specials of the day, which was salmon, veggies, couscous. Oh, and we both ordered the Funghi salad, because who can resist mushrooms and a white truffle vinaigrette? Not us!
The salads were fantastic and I'm fairly certain we licked our plates. But no worries, we totally did it in a classy way. The entrees were both quite good; the risotto, especially, was perfectly prepared and delicious. By this point we were both stuffed and I was starting to feel guilty about my long lunch. But wait - the waiter brought us a lovely piece of what I'm assuming was flourless chocolate cake - on the house! Arc & Pom certainly knows how to please their female clientele. Delicious lunch, excellent service, and parking in the Crescent wasn't quite as annoying as I thought it'd be. Oh, and they validate. I'll be back when I have a slow day at the office and a need for a few extra pounds around my middle.Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 3/15/2011

I've been looking forward to trying this place for the longest time and I finally went yesterday. Although the ambiance is a little too cold for my taste the food and service were impeccable.
We started with the Scallops over risotto, a little too briny and the texture was off, they came out with some nice complimentary bites (croquettes, a salty seada with pork and a phyllo roll with spinach).
I got the malloreddus with wild boar ragu...DELICIOUS!! Husband got the Porcheddu, roasted pork with lentils and saffron red new potatoes, quite yummy. Carta Musica or pane Carasau was really good, love that they added salt and rosemary to it.
Dessert: had to be Seadas, it is like an "Empanada" filled with melty cheese, lightly fried and drizzled with bitter honey!
I just wish they stayed in their awesome old location, much homier and rustic, just like Sardegna! And please force yourself to order traditional Sardinian food, you can't find it anywhere else!Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 7/26/2011

Review from Tricia S.
I gotta be honest: the is one of the worse dining experiences we've had in a good long while. I hate writing bad reviews but I really don't feel that 3.5 stars is a good representation of the restaurant. Now, I fully enjoyed the happy hour experience awhile back so I'd definitely encourage that, but the dining experience was quite lacking.
Nothing appealed to me on the drink menu, but the waiter made me feel awkward for not getting anything. I'm sorry for not being in the mood for more than an iced tea. Our plan was to do an appetizer, a pasta, and a meat entree and then see how we felt about dessert.
I gotta stop here and say: the thing this restaurant does best is the menu. Whoever wrote it knows how to make people salivate. Seriously, everything sounds divine.
So when we told the waiter we had questions because everything sounded so good, we were a little surprised when he asked us "would you like to see the specials?" Well, yes, it would have been nice to see them earlier but whatever. So he brings over plates of the specials for us to see, and frankly, they look none too impressive. One was just some pasta with shrimp and veggies in it, and I don't remember the other two but what stood out to me was the very Chili's-esque vegetable presentation. I'm talking the steamed sticks of carrot, zucchini, and squash with small broccoli florets. The kind of vegetables that make kids hate vegetables.
We took the waiter's recommendations for the appetizer and the pasta, but were not feelin' the specials or the $80 piece of fish he kept trying to push. So we made our own decision to get the "suckling pig on bed of green lentils".
Amuse bouches arrive--three tiny bites that were really underwhelming. The pastry could have been frozen. If you're not going to impress me with this then please don't bother bringing me one. Maybe the waiter thought we were cheap and would appreciate a few extra bites? Not sure.
Appetizer arrives--one of their Silcilian specialties--
"traditional Sicilian fried ravioli filled with wild boar and pecorino Sardo in a sauce of caramelized jalapenos, miele amaro and orange citrus". YUM, right? No. They tasted like cheese empanadas. Neither of us could taste (or see) the boar or jalapeno flavors. There was some citrus in the sauce, but it was lacking in all the complex flavors the menu hinted at.
Pasta and Entree arrive--suckling pig is three pieces of pretty fatty/dry pork (but it was pretty decent) with a side of lentils that were also pretty decent, and the DAMNED CHILI's VEGETABLES! NOOOOO! Caramelized figs are always a welcome addition to my dinner though. This dish was fine, but I doubt I'd order it again.
The pasta, oh god, this was a painful ordeal. The waiter generously offered to split it on our plates for us. We ordered another house specialty: the Ravioli Arcorodo--"jumbo handmade ravioli stuffed with scallops and shrimp, finished with a creamy bottarga mushroom sauce and a velvety saffron lobster sauce". Again, sounds f'in amazing on the menu. The dish normally comes with three ravioli but he added an extra for us (for $8, fine whatever). He uses a fork and a spoon to transfer each raviolo to our plates, in the process completely mutilating each one. And if that weren't enough, we weren't able to keep the sauce that was on the serving plate that was the GOOD stuff we were looking forward to--the bottarga mushroom cream and the saffron lobster sauce. So we were left with dry, torn up ravioli that tasted like it had been frozen and reheated. Also, I thought there would have at least been SOME chunks of seafood in the filling, but it was all pureed into a smooth paste.
In some circumstances, if I felt that the restaurant could improve the situation by bringing me a piece of meat that was cooked more to my liking, or telling them something was too salty, etc. I would have said something. But this we just fundamentally did not enjoy any of our food. They're their recipes that are apparently tried and true but they just did not appeal to us.
The saving grace and the reason I didn't give this place one star, was the dessert. I have a rule where if everything else sucks, I'm not going to trust them to redeem themselves on dessert. But our waiter, ever the high pressure salesman, told us we HAD to try the tiramisu, that it was the BEST in town. Sigh. Fine. Bring us the tiramisu.
OK. So I haven't had tiramisu all over town, but their version IS very good. It's a very delicate, layered dish that's not heavy at all. Really delicious.
I will recommend Arcodoro & Pomodoro for happy hour and tiramisu. Anything else, and don't say I didn't warn you. -

I enjoyed the atmosphere, the wait staff and the food. My boss and I split a seafood salad before our entrees arrived, and it was fresh and the variety of seafood was perfect. I got the ravioli and my boss got the fettuccine. We enjoyed the fresh baked variety of breads very much! I've had authentic Italian in NYC before, from the same region of Italy, and Arcodoro & Pomodora totally beat it!! Some people get confused about authentic foods versus Americanized foods; I think that's where the bad reviews come from. Go for an Italian chain restaurant if that's what you have a taste for. If you like fresh, authentic Italian -try this place. It also has a very inviting ambience. The wait staff were awesome!!

This place is a nice place for cocktail hour/happy hour~ I was there for a small party and I really enjoyed the place. The bar area is really nice and they have great service. The lighting is perfect: not too dim to where you feel uber sleepy especially having a cocktail~ Their mini bites were delicious and they had a great assortment. I couldn't hear the guy explaining what each thing was on the plate - I just devoured everything and thought to myself, "MmmMmM this is gooood!" I know there was a smoked salmon bite and some type of cucumber thing and some mushroom thing - but just take my word for it and know that it really was good! (heheh)
I definitely want to try this place out during lunch time and/or have a nice sit down dinner. I just hope the prices don't scare me away and the portions are decently sized. I'm really not a fan for expensive food with small plates that make you want to stop by at MCD for a burger and fries before going home because you're still THAT hungry :)Listed in: Boozin' it up, It's game time!, Cibo cibo cibo!

This place truly has some delicious authentic food.
We were visiting town and wanted a nice place to dine at on a Friday night. We were able to make reservations online, thank goodness. You valet your car for $5 and then begins the goodness of Sardinian food!
I ordered a seabass salad which was absolutely perfect. Arugula tossed in a light vinaigrette dressing with sliced seabass tartare encircling it. My boyfriend ordered a seafood soup which was light and refreshing.
For our main course, I ordered the Lamb Rack which cooked at Medium Rare which was very tender and delicious, with the perfect amount of seasoning. I usually have a hard time eating lamb because it can be so gamey, but this was just perfect. My boyfriend ordered a Veal dish which was also just as tender and flavourful.
To finish off the evening, we tried their Tiramisu. Light, just the right amount of sweetness and cream. Paired with some good quality coffee and the night was complete to perfection.Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 11/15/2011

For those who were fortunate enough to visit Arcodoro & Pomodoro in its old location, you may feel the way I do about the new location...meh. I loved what the old location offered in terms of ambiance. It looked more authentically Italian. It felt more intimate. It was...different. It was a restaurant of star quality food and service, like so many places in Dallas, but the building and the feeling and the setup was so unique.
Fast forward a few years and it's turned into every other, fancy shmancy restaurant around. The menu has pretty much remained consistent, as has the exceptional quality of food. It just doesn't have that uniqueness it used to, and the staff that at one point seemed mostly Italian, just looks like your typical elegant restaurant staff.
I suppose if that's the only thing wrong with the place, it's not all that bad. I guess I just miss what it used to be and what it used to stand for, which seemed so much more Italian to me than what it is now. That said, I'd go again, but I certainly don't visit as much as I used to. I can't be certain, but I believe it's a bit more expensive than it used to be. Either way, it's a lot of money for what you get. It's definitely a "special occasion" place for me now, whereas before I could go a little more often.
Regardless of that fact that it's turned into the cookie cutter mold of most restaurants in that area, it does have attentive staff, a very clean layout (though a tad cold in feeling), and quality food. Not necessarily super romantic, but it could be a nice date spot. I would consider it more for a group date or a girls night out.
I know this review may seem pointless for those who never knew the old place. Perhaps I reminisce too much. Either way, it's definitely worth a stop here if you want some true Italian food, quality service, a lovely wine selection, and an upscale evening.Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 9/21/2010

I assume I'm writing a review for Arcodoro Pomodoro THE RESTAURANT judging from what the other reviewers are saying about this place.
I've been to Arcodoro Pomodoro at least half a dozen times and have enjoyed them all except for last night. Usually I relish in their eclectic Sardinian menu and attentive service, but last night, while my family took my wife out for her birthday, a few things were off.
First, the bread came out at room temperature. This prompted my mother to make several passive-aggressive comments to no one in particular about the bread when the waiter was in ear shot like,
"Don't they usually heat up the bread here?"
"Ooh... the bread is a little different from the other times, huh?"
or
"Hmmm... the butter isn't melting on the bread AT ALL!"
But he either chose to ignore them, or more likely just didn't pick up on her subtle comments that were directed to anybody that would listen.
Then it turns into this awkward discussion at the table.
"Mom, do you want someone to ask for some warm bread?"
"No, no, no... I just wish it wasn't cold is all."
"Cuz we can ask the guy to bring us some warm bread."
"No, I'm fine... I guess I just won't eat it."
Then everyone gets quiet while mom, like our own personal dinner Jesus, takes one for the entire table.
The cold bread was "strike one" as my little brother always says. He was a waiter before becoming an air traffic controller and puts waitstaff on the tried and true three strike system. He doesn't tell them about strike one, he lets it go, but strike two is communicated very directly, as I'll explain.
When our wine came, I decided to bypass the tasting since we just got a bottle of house cab and I was sure it was going to be just dandy. Unfortunately, everybody was noticeably grimacing as they took their first sip, which was understandable because our cabernet sauvignon tasted like poo in wine form. I glanced around the table and felt my pulse quicken as I knew this was going to lead to yet another passive-aggressive -- or worse, knowing my brother -- a just plain aggressive-aggressive waitstaff confrontation.
As our waiter came back my brother said flatly, "The wine is cold and bad. That's strike two."
"You no like?"
"Well, we don't like it and it's just awful period."
"I bring you list?"
"No we'll pass," chimed in Dad.
Great. No booze and we're at strike two. We've only gotten to "strike three" one time at Papadeaux and it ended with my brother helping himself to the wait station for drink refills and extra silverware while explaining to any questioning employees that, "it was ok, we just couldn't find our waiter."
If that's where our night was headed I was going to have to sneak off to the bar with my wife and do a couple of shots first.
Fortunately, the rest of the dinner went just fine. The food was excellent and there were no more issues -- and they even brought out a birthday tiramisu for my wife -- but the experience left me a little bit more lukewarm about going there again.
Three and a half stars with the caveat that I will give them a chance to redeem themselves in the near future. -

This is a supplement to Nick S.' review, as I was with him and just have a few points to add.
We came in at about 8pm on a Monday night. The restaurant was not busy, and our waiter may have had one other table, if he had another at all.
We ordered the house cab. It came out chilled and vinegary. I know reds are sometimes served slightly chilled, and while I don't prefer them that way, it was the strong vinegary taste that made me send it back. I only drink reds and have never disliked a wine so much that I sent it back.
Anyway, once we told our waiter we did not like the wine and wanted to see the wine menu, it took him at least 5 minutes to start to clear the wine glasses. Why not just start clearing them right away? Take two as you walk away for fuck's sake.
My glass of vinegar never did get cleared, because he left it at the table throughout the entire meal--until after dessert was served and check delivered.
It's not rocket science.
People hate wine. Must pick up wine. Must walk away. Must throw away/destroy/pour down sink/mark as damaged/whatever.
He also neither apologized nor suggested another wine for us to try when we told him we were not satisfied with the cab. In fact, he was completely indifferent. And he knew it was my sister-in-laws' birthday dinner. Not that that should make a difference, but at least pretend to care when it is a special occasion.
Meanwhile, I could hear the waiter at the next table rattling off wines and entree specials for the night.
I wanted to knock my waiter over the head with the wine glass he left in front of me so that this other competent guy could wait on us.
Anyway, nobody wanted to make a scene because it was my brother's wife birthday, but if it had been another occasion, I would have.
Oh and the food was nothing to write home about.
While my bro may be giving this place another shot, I won't ever be back here. There are too many great restaurants with great service for the money in Dallas.

Food? Well...
Didn't knock me off my toes or give me a cosmic orgasm, but it didn't taste bad either. One super plus for a health nut like me is that they have whole grain pasta which is hard to find in this town. They were also happy to accommodate my needs for a pre-race meal plan of whole grain pasta & fish that wasn't exactly a menu item.
Overall this place is awesome. The service is on point and the waiters are hilarious (especially the one with the large mole) I may not be a huge fan of the food, but then again, I was never big on italian food anyway.
Tip for the fellas-- great place to impress a date. Especially if you wanna get some :-)Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 3/21/2010

WOW! I really liked this place. I was in Dallas for pleasure in Feb and staying over at the hotel ZaZa (great place, by the way) and was out walking around looking for a place to grab some lunch. I walked in and thought: "nice, this will do". And oh boy did it.
Staff was great, food excellent (had a nice angel hair pasta with some baby shrimp in a spicy sauce) and the price knocked me out. It was like $12.00, wow. I would have been happy to pay 50% more. -

In town from Austin for my birthday, I had a very enjoyable celebration dinner here.
We had a fluctuating party size, which the hostess tolerated as I repeatedly called them to adjust. They were as friendly as could be about that.
We had a lively crew of hungry eaters. We ordered a number of appetizers, including some delicious rissoto. We all enjoyed our starters and salads.
Main dishes were successful as well. My chicken and lamb shoulder dish was excellent, the only disappointment on the plate being the dry potatoes. The other bites that I sampled were good as well. Veal and Scallops were an interesting combination, and all the pastas were great.
Salt-crusted fish at another table looked divine and made me wish I had ordered it. I will try that next time.
So the food was satisfactory, 3.5 stars, but I'm giving this place 4 stars for the exemplary service. From the minute we walked in, we were treated extremely well. All the little touches were there. The server knew when to hang back, and when to come help us. The entire staff was on the same page, and where usually a large party is merely tolerated by staff, we were made right at home. Perhaps I've grown used to the Austin style of "we'll get there when we get there" service, but this was a nice change from the usual for me.Comment from Lori F. of Arcodoro & Pomodoro 10/12/2010

I'm glad they moved to there new location next to the Crescent Court hotel. This place is much bigger than before. Food and service were great. The house sparkling wine we order was very good. I wish I order the Paella, the couple next to us order it, and it looked and smelled amazing.
They have a great little bar area and patio also. Parking is a little challenge though. If you park in the basement, there is the "Golden Door" you can go in threw that will take you threw the kitchen to the front dining area. It will save you time then walking around to the front.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I went here for Happy Hour with my boyfriend on July 5th, since we had read about it in the Dallas Observer recently. We were expecting a good time, and I have to say, it far exceeded that.
We were greeted by Peter after we took a seat, and he was extremely polite and courteous. Service was prompt, and the drinks were delicious. I was curious about trying a citrus drink containing gin, and I explained to Peter that I was not a fan of gin, and wasn't too sure about it. He gave me a tiny sip of gin to try, and I went with something else instead. I appreciated his gesture, because the last thing I would have wanted was to pay for a drink that I would not have liked. In addition, he let my boyfriend and I try a little of the Grapparita, which was delicious.
Very seldom does service at a happy hour go above and beyond my expectations. Usually, bartenders and servers are too much in a hurry to attend to the individual needs of the patron. Our visit to Arcodoro was splendid, and we definitely plan on returning again, hopefully for dinner as well sometime! -

Good Italian. Authethic Italian food if you you like this kind of food. Happy Hour is nice to mingle with different people. two different sides one for a fancy dinner and the other with an awesome bar. Service is excellent. I will return.

They have a lovely new space at the Crescent. The bar area is gorgeous and huge. We'll have to go there just for drinks sometime.
We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday evening for dinner. The valet was sleeping. Even after we honked, it took him awhile to wake up. Poor guy, must have had a long night.
We had a nice bottle of chianti to start. I had the Arcodoro salad which is just a field green salad with Belgian endives and shaved parmesan. Husband had the Riviera salad which is the same with seared scallops. Very yummy.
Entrees: I had the taglierini with seafood and tomato sauce. Superb. He had the rice with squid ink sauce and it was scrumptious. We finished off with tiramisu and espressos.
The service is excellent. And the new space is bellissimo. I love this place. -

Do I do 3 or 4, I wonder. It is a really solid 3.5 now.
Gone are the simpering bar staff, gone is the Jonathan Ross impersonator who was the sommelier. This was a greatly improved experience.
Lori (the owner) had contacted me as a result of my previous review. I am glad she did, that's quality customer service. She asked me to give the restaurant another chance after personnel changes. She also offered some inducements which we declined. I even made the reservation in Madame's name so there would be no possibility of recognition.
The wine list is still a bit pricy in my opinion, and we did feel rushed. There were people waiting for seats as we were leaving. Silly things like the bread arriving almost after we had finished our appetizers showed that there are still issues. But the issues are minor compared to how it was in November.
Our waiter was Jawad, and he did a very nice job indeed. Attentive without being intrusive. So kudos there.
We ate from the seafood menu - Madame had the mussels and the spiedini (a skewer with scallops and shrimp). I had the octopus salad and the sea bream with mushrooms. We split the very chocolatey dessert. The semi-freddo was excellent, the warm cake was too, but the white chocolate was so-so and the whipped cream tasted like it had a lot of vanilla. We liked our starters better than the mains, but they were all well prepared and well served.
So to a large extent Arcodoro & Pomodoro has redeemed itself. That's a very good thing!1 Previous Review: Show all »

I ate here with my wife yesterday. She ate here before with some work people for lunch and raved about it so I had to give it a try. Not worth it. I think we paid more for the atmosphere than the food.
I had the clam linguine while my wife had the veal. Both were ok and nothing to crave about. Nothing to write much about here since everything was just ok.
If you are craving Italian, find a nice neighborhood place where you pay for the food and not for the fancy one time use towels in the bathroom. -

5 stars for the waiters who speak Italian to each other and with a thick accent to you and wear cool ties.
3 stars for the portions: yeah, I know its gourmet and gourmet portions are small, but still....
4 stars for the prices: for upscale dining it is reasonable
5 stars for the attentive service
Great flavor profiles. If you want true Italian, this is a great spot. -

Arcodoro / Pomodoro are two halves of a single establishment. Arcodoro is the slightly more casual sister.
BY FAR the best Italian food in Dallas. The chef hails from Sardegna, Italy and the menu reflects it.
You really have to try their pistachio cream ravioli. It's never on the menu, but if you ask.. you might be pleasantly surprised. We were -- numerous times. -

The manager of Arcodoro called me last night regarding the email I sent to the restaurant summarizing the experience we had. He was extremely regretful and wants to make it right. He invited our entire party back, on the house, to show us how it's supposed to be done. I'm bumping them up to 3 stars for now, and I'll re-review once we take him up on the offer.

We checked out Arcodoro & Pomodoro last night for restaurant week. We had heard a lot about this place, and thought it was a great time to check it out. The place itself is gorgeous. When you walk in, it feels as though you're stepping out of Dallas into someones Italian courtyard. The lighting is perfect and there is an underlying hum of bustling servers and drinkers at the bar.
We were seated in the corner of the dining room, and the first thing I noticed was that I couldn't hear *anything* my friends were saying. The acoustics are really terrible here. We were waiting for our server to come and introduce herself while going over the limited Restaurant Week menu. After about 5 minutes, she came by and introduced herself by saying "Hi, I'm -----, let me take care of this table right over here, and I'll be right back for you." No problem, take your time.
Another 5 minutes went by and we got waters. She came by again and said pretty much the same thing - she was busy, she'd be right there. Long story short, we sat there for 35 minutes before we got our drinks. We asked about one particular dish, and she described it as an Italian Crepe with a pheasant ragu. My husband ordered it, and it was NOTHING like that. No crepe. It was a huge noodle. Big, big difference.
The food was good, not great. Even a little oversalted. Maybe it was that we were so limited in what we could order, but it was completely unimpressive. The service was absolutely shiteous. Our server was completely uninterested. One of our friends was still working on his entree when she brought out desserts! It was clear she wanted to get out of there. After we ate and she dropped the check, everything was cleared (water included) and she took 15 minutes to come back to pick up the bill.
I hate being disappointed in places I'm excited about going to. Even for restaurant week, this meal cost us $400 for 5 people with wine (2 of us didn't drink at all). I'd say I'm not going to rush back there any time soon. -

OK, gonna make this short.
we were in a large group of 16 and service pace was fine.
I had the lamb chops and ordered them medium. Server rec i order them med. well. That should have tipped me off there. Sure enough they came back overcooked and just not as impressive as they should have been for the $29 or so it costs. The sauce also made no meaningful impact the dish. Wife loved her off the menu shrimp dish. I tasted hers and sure enough it tasted like an actual chef prepared it.
Since we were in a large group I'm not going to try and ding this place too badly as I've had a better meal here with a group of 6.
But I will express my displeasure at this restaurant's policy of charging $8.95 for a small basket of bread. It tasted fine but I honestly think this is very shortsighted as it is one of those things that makes me not want to return here even though they can prepare some very good dishes. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say other diners would feel the same but just not let it be known in a public forum. The raw cost of bread ingredients are just plain cheap relativeley speaking therefore they would be much better off either charging a very nominal amount or charge the $8.95 one time only.
An Italian Barbera was $64 which I though was also high but nowadays wine prices at retaurants never cease to surprise me.
One might be better off sticking with pastas and seafood here. -

My fiancé made reservations at 6:45 on Saturday, February 11,2012. We we were very impressed by the hostesses calling an hour ahead to confirm our reservation, and their warm greetings at the door. That was the end of the good experience at arcodoro. Our waiter took 20 minutes to greet us. ( the restaurant was not that busy yet) he never introduced himself, and rushed away after the drink order. It took forever to get our drinks, and even longer for him to take our order. He then came back ten minutes in to eating our salad, and handed us the menus again, and asked us to confirm our order. My fiancé ordered the veal, and I tordered the risotto with asparagus and fois grois. Why in the world did he do that? We got our answer when our dishes were delivered. He placed down ravioli with red meat sauce in front of me. When I questioned him if this was risotto, he said, " oh yes! This confusion happens all the time." he offered to let me order something else if I did not like the dish. He hauled off the "risotto" and brought me a menu to look at once I objected to the "risotto in red sauce with meat all over it". He returned and said, I have the chef fixing you a new dish. I was confused. I thought he was going to let me order something else since apparently my expectations or risotto were that it should look like rice and not ravioli. He came back with two dishes in his hand. He said, the chef felt soo bad that I did not like my dish, he made one for my fiancée too, and even better, he made a "sampler". It looked like the waiter took my dish in the back and split the ravioli in two plates, scrapped the sauce off, and added the most disgusting excuse for pasta and chicken I have ever tasted. my fiancé and I were so fed up at this point, I ate the ravioli and left the awful pasta on my dish. If I has not been pregnant and starving I would have left the restaurant the moment he brought that disgusting dish out. the waiters blatantly lied about screwing up my dish and made a poor attempt at hiding it. What struck us odd is that normally when a situation where the diner is not happy with the dish, a manger will visit your table. We never saw a manger, leading us to believe, that he screwed up our order, lied about it, and never sincerky tried to fix the problem. Instead he rushed us out by giving my fiancée the check as soon as he saw our unhappy faces and all that horrible left over pasta on our plate. He never even offered to let us order coffee or after dinner drinks. This was by far the worst dinning experience I have ever had in a restaurant and would not recommend this place to any one.

1) Waiter was very friendly but not so knowledgeable regarding the food.
2) Portions were way too small. Impossible to share dishes.
3) Food was average, served in a nice presentation. But if I were to go to an upscale restaurant and order a ham and cheese sandwich, it's still a ham and cheese sandwich no matter now nice the presentation. What I'm trying to say is that nice presentation doesn't make up for less than good quality food.
4) I ordered one kind of pasta dish, and the pasta was substituted for another kind of pasta (without prior notice to me). The veal ragu had small chips of bone in it.
5) They don't even serve bread for the table!!
6) The dessert I ordered was biscotti with Vin Santo wine. The wine never came - I had to ask for it and then the waiter said something like he had to check in the kitchen.
If you're in Dallas, eat what is good locally. If you want good Italian, go to New York or better yet, go to Italy. Sorry, but Arcodoro & Pomodoro was a bit of an expensive disappointment. I cannot recomment.
