Five star food and service but must deduct for "grade pending" from health department. That means grade on appeal and nobody appeals an A grade.

Turkey sandwich, carrot walnut cake and coffee great. Simple place and a simple meal but so well done.  Nice vibe.

If I could give this place a zero I would. Their food is fine-whatever, but their owner is miserable and will make your time there miserable.

Honestly, there are a lot of great sandwich/coffee places in Dumbo. Go to Dumbo Kitchen, reBar, Brooklyn Roasting Company.

Don't give this place your money.

Went in here one sunday morning because their sign on the corner said brunch and i was craving some breakfast food and it was like 1 pm .. well since i was on this street i figured why not here..perfect.. NOT... nothing about their menu was "brunch" like ..so i ordered a turkey sandwich and tet.. sandwich wasent bad but it was small for the price..and not to mention the shakira playing in the background not good.... so small sandwich and cup of tea $12 + tip $15..i asked to use the restroom and it was out of order..so im out of 15 bucks and wanting to pee like a race horse.

"Please do not flush toilet paper down the toilet."

This is a real thing. It is a sign they hang on the single, small, unisex, closet sized bathroom in this place. How cool is that? I'm going to print out copies of this sign and hang them up all over the city. Garbage day will be the worst!

My buddy and I went to Archway for the coffee. I think I tried the Dumbo Mocha. It tasted like mocha, but in an I be done seen 'bout everything way. The only way I'm giving a coffee shop less than four stars is if they give me decaf. But if that ever happens I will set fire to the Internet.

I was going to skip reviewing this place because I don't usually review coffee shops, since coffee is coffee. But then I saw all the other bad reviews and since Dumbo is turning into a hipster town I can now say that I liked Archway Cafe before it was cool.

I usually go to DUMBO on my days off to unwind with an Americano and good music to get away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Came here on a Saturday afternoon, didn't have lunch so went in to the nearest place I could find to grab a quick bite. The place itself wasn't too crowded so that was good as I wanted some quiet time. Their main food option are sandwiches and there are plenty of coffee drinks. I liked the fact that they had artwork and framed paintings on the walls which gave it somewhat of a "hip and creative atmosphere". I got the Prosciutto Di Parma sandwich which was $7.50 and an Iced Americano for $3.50. The sandwich was good but nothing special and Americano was alright as well. The server guy was attentive and friendly. The only downside was that the music they were playing in the background was Salsa or some Latin Music you would hear on a beach resort in Cancun Mexico. If they would've put on Norah Jones, it could've earned an extra star but for now, it's 3 my dears~

I don't understand all the negative reviews for Archway. I stopped here after bike riding over the Brooklyn Bridge. We ordered a few sandwiches, bag of salt n vinegar chips, two diet cokes (out of the glass bottle, which always tastes better) and a great peanut butter cookie. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly. Got out of there under 30 bucks. Will go back if in the area ever again.

The place gets a little crowded in the front because people order there and then sit down. They should remedy that asap.

Some cool artwork and cool music going on as well.

Pssh. Avoid - especially for lunch in DUMBO. Even though the guy behind the counter wasn't as rude to me as my fellow companions - he was a jerk. Never told any of us that they only had one bread option for the day (even when we all ordered something other than that bread), got orders wrong, charged extra for add-ons that actually weren't on, didn't apologize when we called & complained about it -- and even tried blaming us. The food - overpriced, small sandwiches and while they aren't BAD - they are definitely not worth the money or the stress in dealing with the place.

Made a quick visit here after not being able to find Retreat around the corner (not sure if now trading as another business or I just can't navigate!)

Anyway, nice looking place with good music. Not the friendliest of service from the guy with the glasses but the younger boy who brings the food/cleans the tables seemed much friendlier.  We only had coffees and cakes. Would have given 3 stars however my cookie was a bit stale so overall experience 2 stars.

The problem with DUMBO is that there aren't many places to go for lunch. This place isn't great--it's not even good. It's slightly less than okay. But, looking at other options in the hood, I get tired of paying Foragers prices, the food at reBar isn't even close to okay, and sometimes I don't feel like taking a risk on an unknown quantity. I can hit up Archway Cafe, get an almost decent sandwich--really, it is hit or miss, sometimes it's even better than decent--and spend around $8. That counts for something. But if there were a de facto okay place to eat, I'd go there over this place. I just haven't found it yet.

Some factlets: guy behind the counter is surly, neighborhood cops come here and eat lunch, the ingredients are not decidedly not Grade A, etc. You get the picture.

Rudest service ever.  When I ordered a cappuccino, I got a scowl, presumably because I wasn't ordering food.  I mean, it's a coffee shop, right?

The place looks cool, very neat art on the walls, and the coffee was good.  The Wifi was fast, which is also good.

BUT THEN, I got up to go to the bathroom and asked the barista where it was, and he, without even looking up from his laptop, said they had no bathroom.  I'm sorry, this is a sit-down food service establishment with no bathroom?  He ignored me, but I pressed further.

"Where do YOU go to the bathroom?"  Well he uses the barbershop next door, but they wouldn't let me use it.  He didn't seem to know or care about any concern I was having, and kept trying to brush me off so he could watch the cooking show on his laptop.

So unbelievably rude.  Never coming back here, that's for sure. What a jerk.

No wonder the place is totally empty.

I'm torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars, but in the end, I'm a fan because this place is better than all the other lunch spots in DUMBO.

I like going here to order a sandwich to-go.
    PROS:
-Sandwiches are delicious! I recommend the Roasted Chicken, Salmon, and Mozzarella.
-Decent price ($7.50) for the quality and size of sandwich.
    -They're ready pretty quickly.

    CONS:
-It kind of annoying that they charge about 65cents extra if you pay by card vs cash. Shouldn't those costs already be considered in the price? Why penalize me for paying with my card?
-I'm always being up-sold on a coffee or beverage. If I wanted that, I would have ordered it.
-For sit-down occasions, service can be slow and not very attentive.

Personal small disappointment: They used to give a little side-salad along with the sandwich when eating in. Recently that hasn't been the case. Additionally, the sandwich wasn't even presented on a plate but was instead wrapped as if taking it to-go. You'd think that when eating-in they'd make the experience a little more special.

(I know there's more cons than pros, but the food really does taste good!)

The owner gave me unnecessary attitude when I asked for a "Half-Caff Coffee." He told me he didn't know what that was. Hello? You make COFFEE. Its half-decaf, half-caffeinated coffee. Please don't be so rude when you just opened for business. I am gonna tell my friends not to patrionize your shop.

P.S. Your font type for your logo sucks. You mind as well use Comic Sans.

I came in here to get a sandwich to go. I got the mozzarella sandwich. The bread was warm and tasted really good, if not homemade. If they don't in fact make their own bread then I am assuming it was just brought over from some place that took it right out of the oven. The overall sandwich was pretty good. My only mild complaints are that the mozzarella was a little runny and looked gross... but it tasted good, and the sandwich was really tiny. I probably could have easily eaten two. The service was fast, and I didn't have any problems with rudeness, as others state in the reviews.

I don't understand the bad reviews here either. The owner is friendly and funny and the food is good. I have coffee here very frequently because they have a great americano. it's a cool little local spot with a neighborhood vibe. It's comfy if you wanna use your laptop over a few cups (fast WiFi too). I think choosing Starbucks over this is utterly absurd! Archway is the kind of place where the patrons and people who work there are familiar with each other and I like that vibe. Try getting that in Manhattan. Good luck. It's a very Brooklyny place and a DUMBO staple. I think the owner's name is Arthur (did I hear someone call him R2D2?) and he's super cool when you get to know him. I think some of the reviewers are a little spoiled and should go wipe their noses and behave themselves. Life is too short, guys.

Oh and BTW, check out the revolving artshow of some of the different DUMBO local artists. Lovely work!

A group of us went there to try it for lunch, nice atmosphere but poor service and expensive average-at-best food. We all ordered sandwiches (one person getting a $2 add-on on theirs) and not a single sandwich was correct. Without apologizing, we were told that they "don't do custom orders" even though we ordered directly off the menu. Our friend was still charged the extra $2 for the add-on that wasn't added. It was somehow all our fault. Even with the few food options in Dumbo, I would avoid this place and go anywhere else.

third try over 4 months or so and surely, was unimpressed....

The first time I tried it was because it was new, I remember the sandwich having way too much gorgonzola cheese because the server was unsure of how to make the sandwich, the second experience would've gotten 3 stars because it was average at best, today I stopped in for a cup of coffee....

The server seemed somewhat bitter or perhaps just unfriendly, I ordered, "Can I just have a cup of coffee?" I received a LARGE rather than a small which I would expect since she didn't ask what size I wanted.  Really? I kept quiet, paid the 2.50 and it was comparable to a bodegas coffee at best!  No flavor, ultra light, didn't finish it.  I'm gonna walk the extra block or 2 to Starbucks or Brooklyn Roasting Company to get a decent cup of coffee.

These reviews are hilarious and pretty on point. Dumbo does have some horrendously over priced places to eat, really sub par food comparatively. i worked there for years and struggled everyday to find something decent. This spot is really funny though, sandwiches were like 300% salt and bread was not so fresh.

I wonder if this place is reading these reviews and plan to improve their food/vibe? What the hell is that about no bathroom? I wasn't planning to go back anyway, but am also curious about social experiments.

Some great sandwiches to choose from  - the "mortadella, sun-dried tomato provolone, artichoke hearts" was great - but there seems to be some disconnect between the kitchen and the menu. The "brie, pear, arugula, jam, mustard" was really tasty but would have been better if there was actually some arugula. And the "smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onions, tomatoes, lettuce" was delivered as "smoked salmon, pesto, capers and pickles". Huh. Things are also a bit slapped together...not a lot of love on the cutting board. Hit or miss.
