We highly recommend Andy Morrall as an Architect.  We hired Andy to do the extensive remodel of our Laurel Heights Edwardian home.  We found Andy to be very professional and reliable.  Through a series of design meetings,  Andy was able to offer several design options to choose from that were very creative and sensitive the existing Architecture of the house. Andy offers complete services,  providing detailed construction documents to work from,  and he has working relationships with General Contractors that he can recommend to do the work.

We are very pleased with how it all came together and highly recommend him.

We're in the middle of remodeling our 1914 craftsman bungalow in Alameda and hired Andy to do the design work.  Specifically, we wanted to re-connect an in-law unit built in the 70s, back to the main house and returning it to its original glory.

Andy was able to grasp the concept of what we were looking for and turn it into reality.  He spends the time listening to and understanding your needs.  Then the magic happens.  He came back to us with two different options - both that worked, but one we fell in love with straight away,

While the construction work is still in process, Andy has been involved the entire time.  He clearly lays out all fees, costs and schedule so there are no surprises.  His rates are absolutely reasonable.  I was also impressed with his recommendation for contractors although there is NO pressure to use them.  Often, his preferred vendors have come in cheaper than other quotes that we've secured which was an unexpected bonus.

We're planning another two renovation projects and will definitely be hiring Andy again to do the work.  Andy is trustworthy, communicates well and delivers on time.  You'll certainly be impressed with his work.

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel with Andy and everything is going great.  Andy took all of our wants and desires and came up with a very creative layout blending the kitchen into the TV room.  He took into account the character of our 1927 Glen Park home but also our modern sensibility to tie the two looks together.  We've worked closely on the style points we like, and he's right there to keep the whole design cohesive, including on shopping trips.  We're looking forward to the end of the project and posting pictures of the successful transformation!

A talented Architect and an Artist, Andy designed and transformed our Master Bathroom and Closet into a work of Art.  He worked with us through every facet/faucet of the design, giving us several design options to choose from, developing the chosen design and assisting us with finish and fixture selections.   We are so pleased with using an Architect of Andy's caliber, nothing was left to chance or the whim of the contractor during construction. Andy has it all - he  not only displayed expertise in design, but in construction as well.  Every aspect of the construction was thoroughly detailed and specified in the plans and documents.  Andy dealt with the building department and made sure the documents were immediately approved. He then was available during construction and made site visits to review the work being done by the contractor.  What a relief. We very much recommend working with Andy as the Architect for your next project.

Our project with Andy is still ongoing, but so far we are happy with his services.

We have completed the design phase for our Master bedroom, Bath and Deck addition with Andy and we couldn't be happier.  He has been very responsive and easy to work with. When we started reaching out to several architects for our project, he was the most responsive and enthusiastic.  Andy listened to our goals and wishes and was able to present some very creative design solutions.  He proactively engaged with the city planning officials to ensure that his design is complies with the city code.

He positioned the new addition so as to leave the existing Bedrooms intact and instead created a dramatic Loggia Entry to the Master bedroom. He was sensitive to the views, stepping down the new addition to help keep the views from the existing house intact. As we look out the rear of house, we not only see a view of the Belmont Hills, but also a dramatic work of Architecture with expansive windows and interesting roofscapes.

We are very excited to start construction of our project in the near future.

I hired Andy Morrall as an Architect for a major renovation and addition to my 1890 Victorian House in Noe Valley.  I was very impressed with Andy's problem solving and design skills.  I found his fees very reasonable. He was able to take my initial concept and guide the project through the San Francisco Planning and Building Department.  In fact, he was able to ingeniously attain a variance for the project which allowed me to build both in the side and rear yard covering over 85% of my lot - well over the 55% standard limitation.  He developed a highly detailed set of construction  documents which included waterproofing details, Material Specifications, etc.  This was a truly challenging project which Andy took on, I would highly recommend him as an architect.

I hired Andy Morrall as an architect to develop several design schemes while I was a Pastor for several Church Parishes. Andy developed some really creative design solutions for the proposed Community Center additions.  I found him to be very professional and knowledgeable about light construction. The designs solutions were both very creative and feasible. Andy submitted these large beautiful renderings of the proposed projects with which we could present to the parish and use for the fund raising campaign.  I not only had the pleasure of being a Client of Andy's, but over the years we have developed a friendship.  I have had the opportunity to watch Andy's practice as an Architect grow and prosper. I'm always excited to hear about his projects and I am always impressed by his sense of industry, creativity and professionalism.   I would highly recommend him.

We asked Andy to be our architect for a large renovation and addition project in our Noe Valley (San Francisco) home. We were very impressed by his ingenious design solution that got us a variance and allowed a garage for 2 cars. Two large decks above qualified for the open space requirement. We also had him completely reconfigure the interior plus build out the lower level to our 1896 Victorian.  His documents were finely detailed, so went through the San Francisco Building Department with great speed.  He was great to work with, had great ideas and problem solving skills, plus treated us professionally and on a timely schedule.  I would highly recommend him to be your Architect!

We transformed our kitchen and put a major 3 story addition with a roof deck at the back of our Victorian House in the Haight. Andy was the Architect and was able to take a very challenging existing kitchen with a narrow floor plan, with many jogs and angles and create a very cohesive design.  The inherent narrowness and angles of the space were turned around and actually made design features of the space.  With very little wall changes, Andy was able to redesign the Kitchen Cabinets and reconfigure the sink and appliances to create an entirely new look.  The lighting, soffits and cabinet details were all well thought out and blend seamelessy with the existing house.
The major 3 story addition also proved challenging.  Andy's thorough knowledge of the San Francisco Planning Code allowed us to attain a rear yard variance.  The addition was very well detailed, extensive waterproofing details were included for the exterior flashing and for the roof deck.
We were able to achieve all our goals, and then some with Andy as our Architect.  We highly recommend him.
