When I need good food and a place where the bar will drown out my noisy kids, I head to Archie Moore's.  There are interesting dishes beyond regular pub fare.  Most recently I enjoyed a spicy grilled chicken wrap that was delicious.  The wait service is quick and helpful and everyone there is cheerful.

I suggest you stick to beer when ordering from the bar.  If your mixed drink comes a little watered down, I expect you'll be thinking, "I should have ordered a beer."

Buffalo wings are ALWAYS good. My daughter also enjoyed the Oreo pie a lot.

Archie's Wallingford- Used to go here almost every Friday when I worked in Wallingford, drinks were made quickly and well, appetizers delicious and very reasonable prices. Yadayadayada, moved away, have not been back until the other day- ordered wings - takeout for a family meal.
Oh my yummy in the tummy! Buffalo wings, Jerk wings and honey barbecue, each one better than the one before. Plentiful bleu cheese dressing (very well seasoned and huge chunks of bleu cheese), and lots and lots of nice crunchy celery sticks- great job! I read a few reviews and it sounds like some people may have experienced less than stellar service recently- I never had the problem, but it has been a few years. If Tom is there, I do not think you will have a problem.

I am sad to say as time goes on I am less and less impressed with Archie Moore's in Wallingford. The last few times I have been there the meat of the wings has been very dry and the beer served warm

Small, crowded, loud, often filled with drunks. Service is either great or horrendous. But since I adore their buffalo chicken quesadilla, I'll keep going back.

We stopped here for lunch on a road trip after getting off i 91, after driving past what seemed like a bunch of dives.  They changed the tv for us to show the ranger game, refilled out sodas, food came out quick, and the buffalo chicken wraps w/ french fries we got were good.  We were in and out but it was a solid stop for lunch.

I can't give Archie Moore's anything less than a 5 star rating.  Every time I go, I leave happy.  For some reason, they serve the best Apple Martinis ever, and they give you another little glass alongside your martini glass, so you can refill your drink! Other restaurants don't do that and are more expensive!
When I wasn't vegetarian, this place served my most favorite wings.  They are awesome, and during happy hour, they are half priced.  As a vegetarian, there is a section on the menu just for me! The veggie burger was piled high with lettuce, tomatoes and your choice of cheese.  I feel like there is something here for everyone without breaking the bank.  And, as this is a bar/pub type atmosphere, I usually don't see many children here.

This place is just horrible. I have been there three times, and each time was just plain bad. Overall, I've paid for a patty of unseasoned, undercooked ground beef wedged between a crappy bun, a mediocre fish sandwich that had a live bug hiding in the lettuce, and several odd-tasting diet Pepsis. Their boneless wings, I will concede, are very tasty. It's just not worth it for the price, which is a true bummer because there aren't a ton of restaurants along downtown Main Street (walking distance from my house). I wish this location of A.M. would close to make room for something else.

When I lived nearby, I used to enjoy going to Archie Moore's, knowing full-well the service was mediocre, the food was nearly always good.  After my wife had a few bad service SNAFU's, we haven't been there in close to year.  I finally convinced her to give a shot.  I'd love to tell you we were greatly excited.  That the salad was nice and fresh, and the wings were hot, fresh and crisp.  The truth is, we never got that far.  After waiting for 10 minutes to be seated in a practically empty restaurant,  we got our menus and were seated.  After another 5 minutes our drink order was taken, though reluctantly my a lady that claimed not to be our waitress.

People came and left , including about 5 or 6 other people who were apparently not our waitress/ waiter either.  We sipped a bit of ice tea, but after total of 30 minutes without order taken, we left a couple bucks and headed out.

Getting good service at Archie's has always been a crap shoot.  I don't how many more times I can keep losing and still want to go back.   I hope they get there act together at some point.

It is what it is... And the staff is way friendlier in Wallingford than in New Haven. I grew up on Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wings and Archie Moore's wings are worthy of comparison. Although, the Buffalo chicken quesadilla is way too greasy. I like eating outside and I fear falling down their stairs.
I have ordered the hot dog here numerous times and been very, very happy.

Walking distance from the house, decided to head up for wings and burgers.

Not sure why everyone raves about the wings. They weren't great, I've had much better. Peppercorn burger was way too peppery.

Service was EXCELLENT, I must say.

I've eaten at all but one of Archie Moore's branches, and this is my favorate.  The parking is better than at the original, and the food and servcice is the best.

On the downside, it is very small and crowded, and can get noisy.

So far I've tried the burgers, pizza, wings, and the buffalo calamari. If you're in Wallingford and need a place to have a good sitdown meal, this is the only place I'd recommend.

Their hot sauce is made exclusively for the restaurant and it's really good.

The only downside to this place is that it is very much a bar, but the outside seating is great for kids, as well as groups or dates.

The best wings in town! Usually I'm not a fan of "bar food" but they have the best American food here. The burgers and sandwiches are as good as they get!

I recommend trying their wings and buffalo nachos.

The wait service is a bit slow, but very friendly.

Very affordable menu, comfortable atmosphere. Great neighborhood bar!

Archie's is a great place to go for burgers, sandwiches, wings, nachos, you name it. I've experienced sad and dry wings only once...all other times have been awesome. Their special wing sauce can be purchased separately, I believe.

As for dessert, the apple crisp is DELICIOUS.

Definitely on the short list of great restaurants in Wallingford!!!

I love this place. It can get really crowded and loud. Some of the crowd can be obnoxious but if you're out to have a good night it has the right ambiance for that.  From the food I've tried, man they know how to cook a burger! Food can be a little on the expensive side but worth it. The wings... oh the WINGS. You have to have their wings!! They come in one standard delectable spicy flavor with the standard ranch or blue cheese and celery.  The bartenders are usually very upbeat and helpful. It can get busy though so can take a little while to get a drink. They do have jager-bombs but don't use redbull. It still tastes more or less the same so I'm not complaining just  letting others know.  Its kind of cramped but the bar is a full half circle so if it's not too busy easy enough to sit at the bar.  There is better seating if you are going there to eat as well but still "cramped". If you are claustrophobic might not be the spot for you. If you enjoy being around others, like a cozy feel to a place  this is a great spot for a couple drinks and bangin wings!

I really want to like the food at Archie Moore's, but I don't think that will happen. There are two items on the menu that stand out- wings, and the buffalo chicken blue cheese dip. The sandwiches are incredibly bland, no matter how creative they might sound.
Depending on the night/crowd, the bar can be a good time, but be careful with the bartenders-- I got a drink in a chipped glass with a crack in it, and when I pointed it out to the bartender and asked for another glass, she looked at me like I was crazy and asked 'why?', then made a huge stink about getting me another drink.

Went there with my husband for lunch and had the wings, excellent!  I even bought a bottle of their sauce to bring home.

My only complaint is as a couple that chose not to have kids, don't try to seat me next to a table of them, I want to enjoy my lunch and not feel like I'm at McDonalds....go ahead, release the hounds!   My restaurant rant:

If you have kids take them to get a Happy Meal and not to a bar restaurant. The rest of the world doesn't think your whining kid is adorable, and I don't want them either standing up on the both looking over,or wandering around the restaurant I'm in.  I actually saw a guy in the bar atJohn Harvards with his son sitting up on his shoulders with the kid running a toy car over his head.....Are you kidding me!!! I used to ask for a seat in the bar of any restaurant to avoid kids, but now they're in there too!!

I always rave about how good the food is here and recommended it to a friend from out of town so we ventured here to have lunch.  The wing sauce is always excellent but this time the wings themselves were overcooked and not very meaty.  I ordered a burger and asked for it to be cooked medium rare but it was more like eating raw hamburger.  I'll give it another try but what a disappointment this time.

After trips to Duffs in Buffalo....do you really think Archie Moores comes close? If you are some bland tounged Marty McGillicuddy from Fairfield University who thinks this is the bomb...you may need a thorough lobotomy.

You can't go wrong with this neighborhood bar. It is always packed on the weekends, especially in the summer with the few tables they have outside on the sidewalk. Service can be spotty, but overall acceptable. It has all the basics a bar should have--nachos, burgers, sandwiches but where they excel are their wings. The buffalo wing sauce is out of sight and I highly recommend you try it. Great place to go with a group of friends for good food and good times.

Went there on a Wednesday night at around 6:00pm...place was crowded but not fully...my buddy and I were able to get a table very quickly...we went there for the wings which were voted best in CT...the wait staff was excellent as described in previous reviews...once the wings came out (we ordered 7 each), it was time for the taste test...first bite tasted very familiar...the sauce tastes like the sauce used for the wings at peoples choice pizzeria....that's not nessesarily a bad thing...

Food was average.  I found the wings tough but the sauce was good and so was the blue cheese. I ordered a grilled cheese (average at best). I would pass at a chance to eat here again.

Archie Moore's.  I've been to them all.  Derby, Fairfield, Wallingford, New Haven, and Milford.  The newest, Derby by far has been blessed with the nicest restaurant and the worst cooks/waitstaff.  Fairfield is okay, I think that I just don't prefer the crowd. New Haven makes me feel claustrophobic, and I don't generally get good service at this establishment.  Now Milford and Wallingford on the other hand are the exceptions.  In the summer, you can't go wrong with the vibe of Archie's downtown Milford.  The patio scene here is great and this Archie's has mastered the Buffalo Chicken Nacho recipe.  I've pretty much given up on any other restaurants nacho platter.  This location overall has consistently the best service and food quality.  Let's face it, it's a bar.  You're going here for bar food....it's good... if not great.  Wallingford is just as good food wise, however the service is lacking and they do have some outdoor seating just not as much.

I like it here.... always have....

Maybe I am jaded but this location was 100 X's better than the location in Milford. Waitstaff were really nice, clientele (except the weird groups of middle school students) were more mature than the Milford location too. Yes, I have gotten to the age where frat boys chugging beer and hitting on girls trying to take them home is just pathetic and annoying. Our wings were crispy and tasty, the soda refills were prompt, not much else you can ask for.

I was never a big buffalo wing fan until a friend dragged me to Archie Moore's in New Haven several years back. After that trip I wouldn't order wings anywhere else and I rarely break that "rule". These are simply my favorite wings. Meaty, crispy on the outside with a great sauce. I like the fact that I don't have to choose from 97 different sauce flavors. Just one delicious sauce. Everything I've tried there has been terrific. Their buffalo chicken dip appetizer is a favorite. Consisting of shredded chicken mixed with blue cheese and wing sauce served with tortilla chips it's impossible to stop eating. The burgers, the fries whatever you choose it's going to be a winner but don't forget the wings! Nice selection of beers as well and a very comfortable atmosphere.
