If you go to Archie's - get the wings. It's that simple. Their sandwiches are pretty good, and you really can't go wrong. It's standard bar food - but THE WINGS, man...! Besides TK's...they may be the best in the state. Plus, their blue cheese is something to write home about.
Derby is my favorite location too - more beers on tap (including Dogfish Head...always a plus), it's bigger, and includes an outside patio for the spring and summer. In terms of Valley eating and drinking - Archie's is one of my favorite spots.
I do wish they'd up their salad game. Sometimes I feel like being a smidge healthier, and there are never any good options. How is there not a diesel Buffalo Chicken Salad!? -

Archie Moores has the best wings in the state. Period(and I have tried them all)
In most of my experiences at every location, the wings have been consistently big, saucy, and having the right amount of crisp. Derby is my favorite location all-around. Great bar with a patio in the back as well.
Obviously people normally go for the wings, but other items on the menu I've tried haven't been bad either, although to be fair, I cannot comment on their burgers. Good fries(the skinnier kind), and some unique specials as well that I've also tried and liked.
You can choose a local joint like Archie Moores, or you can go to a corporate giant like Buffalo Wild Wings...and get tiny portions, limited quality, and expect to pay extra for half a dixie cup full of blue cheese and celery. Your choice. -

Of all the Archie Moore's, this one is the best for wings. The wings here are bigger and plumpier (yeah, I said plumpier!) than the rest. This one also has a nice bar area.
It seems as if each Archie's has their own thing that they do well. Derby is the wings, New Haven is the ambiance, Wallingford is well..okay, and Milford is....well Milford is just plan horrible (there is nothing good about that one!), and Fairfield has good wings and nice location.
The one thing they all have in common is that they CAN NOT cook anything besides wings! I always get wings when we go, but sometimes I get a burger. No matter how I order it, rare/raw/medium/medium rare, it comes out well done and never meeting the description of the menu item. Yeah, I should probably send it back, but I am tired of doing that, I have just resided myself to not getting a burger there and if I do, I know what I am going to get.
SO, when picking an Archie's, just know you might get one good thing, you just need to know which one thing it will be!
Good Luck! -

Shelton, CT
We went here on July 1st being new to the area and not realizing that it was the night of the fireworks for Derby and Shelton. There was a half hour wait which didn't seem to bother us too much. We were seated upstairs by the restrooms though on a busy night and at one point there was a line to get into them which went by our table.
Our server seemed loud and friendly and quickly took our orders for apps and drinks. The drinks were served in plastic party cups and our apps were served. We finished up the apps and our order for our entrees still had not been taken.
The waitress finally took our orders for our entrees after quite some time seem to have gone by. When we finally got our entrees, my fries were no longer warm. Also, they made a mistake with two of the orders for our tables, but with it being so busy...no one wanted to wait for another order to be made.
So, this experience was just okay. I understand that it was a busy night, but I think they should have been better prepared. -

The burgers, onion rings, and plain fries were good. The Cajun fries were awful, I'm from Louisiana and know a good Cajun fry, those weren't it.
Unless you were a man, the waitresses didn't check on you. Twice we had to ask another wait staff to send our waitress to us and that was after being ignored; they walked by us actively trying to get their attention. -

Home of the Best Buffalo Chicken Wings in Connecticut, Archie Moore's have branched out from their original New Haven establishment and the hot & spicy train has stopped in Derby. You may wonder why Archie Moore's in Derby? The town is about to boom with massive waterfront development adding many lofts, condos and townhouses and with the same thing happening in downtown Shelton it's only a matter of time before this investment turns into a goldmine.
The food is typical bar food with mexican, sandwiches, pizza, burgers, seafood and barbecue as your fare of choice. However you can not come to Archie Moore's without having some of their world famous buffalo wings. If you're into saving some moolah, come for happy hour between 4 and 7 pm for free (yes, free) buffalo wings (though you'll have to spring for blue cheese and celery if you can't take the heat).
They have an outdoor patio and bar for the warm summer months and when the downstairs bar gets too packed you can go to the upstairs bar where it seems the younger crowd congregates.
The revitilization of the downtown area (FINALLY!) is an exciting time and I'm sure won't be the last fun place to pop up. Competition is a good thing and with TailGator's Sports Bar, Downtown Danny O's and Porky's Cafe all going through a makeover and spectatular italian restaurants dotted in between, the lower Naugatuck River Valley will turn from the place that high prices forgot into a replica of downtown Westport in a few short years. -

A good Archie's you can always get a seat at the bar and its never too packed like some of the other locations. Good bar food. Good burger. Good wings and incredible blue cheese.

A sports bar atmosphere with decent bar food. They have primarily sandwiches, burgers, appetizers & booze. It's a good spot for lunch or meeting up with friends for drinks and appetizers. It's been satisfying every time I've been there.

PULLED PORK NACHOS....it will be the best nachos you have ever had. Usually go here and split an order of these with my boyfriend plus a couple of beers and call it a night. Service at this Archies is super friendly and never had a problem.

Had a chance to eat in. Just as good as the other branches.
I was afraid that it might get noisy, as it is open to the second floor. In spite of it being filled with kids that night, the noise level was fine1 Previous Review:

Decent place for what it is... solid pub food at a reasonable price. They don't have anything that would necessarily knock your socks off, or garner an episode of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, but it's a good place. And given there's hardly any other good places nearby at this value level, it's the best you'll find.
