Great spot. Bought my first bow here and they were happy to talk me through the options without any rush or attitude. Tested a bunch of bows on the range and of course fell in love with the most expensive one! Worth the drive down from Walnut Creek even though Bow Rack is right around the corner.

I have indeed experienced better. The shop was tiny & the salesmen could have been nicer. I recommend Predators in Gilroy. Better service, better price, better everything.

Come here on a Monday for their archery lesson. $20/40min. It's a nice narrow indoor archery range. The distance is limited yet good enough to spark interest. Equipment was included with the lesson-recurve bow, arrows, finger tab and arm guard. For the lesson I would say the target was about ten feet away from the starting position.
The instructor gave us a good overview of what to do. Then he watched each person individually to observe/correct our tendencies, so we can aim for the target. His suggestions were spot on. At first my arrows were landing above the bullseye, then he gave me some corrections on my form and eventually my arrows were near the bullseye.
If you've done archery before, I would skip the lesson and pay to shoot. It's $20/hour with equipment or $10/hour if you have your own. It's a nice time to just let things go and shoot at something for fun. I'll be back. -

I was shocked to find an archery range so close to my home in Fremont. I went here today hoping to ask the owners a few questions about bows and technique. I was looking over the various bows when a lady came to ask if I needed help. I told her that I was a total beginner thinking about taking up archery. No, I am not a hunter and I wouldn't even know what to do if I actually downed an animal. She was very helpful and patient. She made me feel welcomed and took the time to explain the differences between bows and how they need to be fitted to the archer.
She also told me about the lessons they have on their indoor range at a very affordable fifteen dollars an hour which includes the use of a bow and arrows. It was a great deal of fun and the hour just flew by.
My aim was not so good. I hit one empty file box that was off to the corner of the range. I mean I absolutely murdered it. My instructor got a good chuckle out of it. Haha. I did manage to hit a few bullseyes at about 15 yards. -

To be honest, I'm torn between a three star and a four star for this review. But I put four because I've decided that the focus of this review will be simply the $20/person beginners' lesson (40 mins on Mondays).
I went with a friend to take the beginners' course because I needed a refresher on archery (it's been over a year since I've picked up a bow), and I wanted to give their indoor range a whirl and see how their customer service is. The lesson and the instruction were great! Very simple and straight forward (as it should be). If you've never done archery before, take their beginners' lesson. You'll be itching to get more time in when it's over, but it's a good course to get your feet wet. Their indoor range isn't large at all, but it's definitely enough to begin with. (I posted a photo of it. It's definitely not wide...but length wise, not bad at all.)
Okay so why not five stars or even a solid four like the majority of the other reviews? That just comes down to the guy working the cashier/front desk. (Different guy from the instructor.) I asked him about bow recommendations and he retorted to me that it's like buying a car and that I need to be more specific. I told him that I was looking for a recommendation as a beginner, but something that would give me room for growth, and that I only planned on using it for recreational target practice (not hunting), and that I was thinking of recurve bows. He replied back and said "do you like the bows you shot with for the lesson? you can just get one of the bows you shot with." Not exactly the answer I was looking for when I'm asking for a recommendation. And of course I can't really translate the tone of his voice into this review, but let's just say that it sounded a little bit too condescending, even if I was asking novice questions.
With that said, again, no problem with the instructor or the lesson; that was great. Just had a problem with the front desk and asking for recommendations. Judging from the other reviews, it sounds like it could just depend on who's working the front desk.
All in all, I will probably be back here again to use the indoor range since it's the only one nearby Fremont, but... I'm really not inclined at all to ask anymore questions to their front desk if it's the same gentleman staffing it. -

This is a great archery shop. Wayne really knows his stuff about archery. He takes good care of his customers (better than any others in the bay area) and his prices are reasonable and fair. He also has the latest equipment to try. No attitude here, just good honest advice that you wont regret.

-my exclusive biatch got me shooting
-sometimes it's hot and just oozes but this time it's about form, focus and concentration and not penetration...well that too
-how deep can that arrow go in to the hay?
-the roomie and i ventured out here since my peep hole on my bow was small thehehe.......and my exclusive biatch told me to check this place out and get a titanium one that's a certain size
-he calls prior to find out if they carry it and they did
-so in the roomie and i go and the worker stopped shooting inside the range to help us
-he kinda gave me a look when i asked him about the peep...thehehehe and since i'm a noob i had no fucken idea wtf i was saying but provided him specs the exclusive biatch gave me
-he proceeded to work on my bow, tie it up with precision, even worked on my temperamental stablizier while chatting it up with us
-he looked like spike lee:) it was awesome how he knew his shieyt when it came to their products and the sport
-total was like $10.00, i was like are you kidding me? that;s it?
-the attention he gave us was like the focus you need to get that arrow right on the bulls eye, even the roomie was impressed

If your looking to buy a bow, or just check out archery in general... this is the place to go...
i made the mistake of buying my compound bow set up from bass pro shops... also made the mistake of trusting the advice they gave me. . a few weeks later my friend told me about this place... i came in with my bow and started asking questions... boy! the bass pro shop employee mislead and misinformed me in soooo many ways.. i also over payed for my set up compared to the prices @ archery only... the staff is extremely informed and have no problem answering any questions... they also have a indoor 20 yard range... if ur looking to buy a bow, they'll even let you try it out first and size u up properly... they also offer classes and private training....
you wont find me buying archery supplies anywhere else! -

The people here are really nice and I got a good impression when I came here. They tuned my compound bow so that I can core out my target as well as have my other bow appraised for selling purposes. Large supply of archery equipment and worth the drive if you're coming from SF.
If you're a hunting type for bowhunting, go here! -

Customer service and passion are a lost art in retail these days. Fortunately there are some who still carry this art - Archery Only is one of those places.
I had visited several archery shops while collecting information on which bow was right for me. So going into Archery Only, I thought I knew what to expect- I was wrong!
They are there to turn you on to the passion of archery the right way. They ask questions in order to recommend products. They were willing to take what time was required to answer your questions. They provide real and honest answers, not salesmanship. Most importantly they are willing to set you up and shoot products so you can really make an honest decision on your purchase.
This was not a one-off experience. I sent friends their way and they received the same treatment. They have made a customer of me. Plus I will be back regularly to use their indoor range. -

First of all I have to say the service was outstanding,, we bought two bows, with all the necessary items that were needed,,, all my questions were answered and both my friend and I were so impressed with the over all care that was given to both of us..I would say that when it comes to needs and service at this store,, I would have to give them (5) stars.. I have been to this store twice and the service was alway's wonderful.. both my friend and I drove from San Francisco to this store, which is about a 45 minute drive,, but it was well worth the drive.

Great customer service, excellent knowledge of all archery subjects. Never pushy about purchasing equipment. Range is short, but good for testing equipment.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! My husband and I went there to purchase a compound bow, accessories, and other stuff for a recurve. So we were planning on spending well over $1,000. We walked into the store and there was only 1 other person in there. The sales clerk proceeded to have a casual conversation with the other person there (I'm assuming it was someone he knew). He didn't welcome or greet us in anyway. So I thought, well... maybe he doesn't want to "jump" on us as soon as we walk in (although I don't consider a friendly "hello" or "welcome" jumping...) but we were there for almost 1/2 an hour and he never even acknowledged us. So I walked up to the counter so he KNEW that I had a question (or wanted to speak with him), and still nothing. He proceeded to have his casual conversation with his friend and didn't even give us the time of day. I was infuriated! So, we walked out, drove to Pacifica Archery and were treated VERY WELL! Super friendly and very knowledgeable. So... they got our $1,350... and we will NEVER go back to Archery Only.
Let me be clear on one point... I don't expect the world to stop when I walk into a store. I don't expect people to drop whatever their doing to run up and greet me. All that I/we ask is to be ACKNOWLEDGED! All he would have had to say is something like, "Hi there... let me just finish with this guy and I'll be right with you." ANYTHING!!! But to stand in a SMALL store within spitting distance of someone for over a 1/2 hour and not be acknowledged is COMPLETELY unacceptable. It's clear that their employees need some customer service training. -

It's nice to walk into a pro shop where the guys don't give you the hard sell, but take the time to show you all your options. I found them to be knowledgeable, honest and took time to let me shoot a number of bows before making a decision (which I didn't even make that day). If you're just getting started with archery like I am, I'd recommend these guys to show you the ropes, and help you dial in your bow. If you're already a pro, you'll find a nice indoor range, and a huge selection of PSE, Bowtech, Hoyt, and Montana Black Gold illuminated sites that are awesome.

Archery Only serves as a great location to fire off quivers of arrows, and get expert advice on bow-knowledge. Ever so often I'll practice my recurve here, but I'm still not very good. It's a great place to get one or two friends together and just shoot for a few hours, it only costs a few dollars an hour. Completely affordable, friendly staff, and the only downside is that it could get quite crowded sometimes.
