The stairs are my new frenemy. My everything hurts, from the arches of my feet to my ribs. I think the root cause of the pain in my ribs is the extreme huffing and puffing of trying to maintain the act of just breathing.

I lifted this definition from urban dictionary, it was a perfect explanation of my relationship with these stairs.

"Someone who is both friend and enemy, a relationship that is both mutually beneficial or dependent while being competitive, fraught with risk and mistrust."

How many early mornings and late afternoons have been spent here, climbing stairs of all things?!?

Probably one of the best hidden jewels in Larkspur. Nothing like an outdoor stair machine for a workout. I must warn anyone who attempts to come here, the stairs may be hard to find at first. Just go up Magnolia Ave, pass St. Patrick's Church on your left, and slow down when you see a medical office (I think it's a cosmetic surgery office) to your left and a bunch of cafes to your right. Your best bet is to park on the street.

To find the stairs, look to the left of the cosmetic surgery office. You'll see a covered bus stop and a yellow fire hydrant on the street. If you walk on that path right next to it, you'll see the base of the stairs. I also must warn people that this aint your grandma's stairs. These stairs are meant to tire someone out! Heck, these stairs ARE Arch St.! So turn up your ipod, keep water nearby, and pace yourself.  They're about 3 stories up, and ends in a residential street -- Palm Ave. They have pebbles at the top to track your laps.

After your mighty workout, I suggest going to Pizzeria Picco down the street :-) I know my directions might sound like a crazy scavenger hunt, but I just wanted to be thorough since these stairs are semi well hidden. Have fun!

I love walking up and down hills for exercise, and stairs make the going so much easier. I love the Arch Street Stairs! This hidden treasure in Larkspur is truly marvelous for helping one get some fresh air and exercise in a lovely setting.

I've found (the hard way) that it's much better to walk rather than run down hill, in order to keep one's knees in good condition.... so I have come to realize the value of steps over hills, so I can maintain a healthy pace without inhaling car exhaust fumes.

I don't get to Larkspur as much as I used to in years past, so I miss spending gorgeous afternoon enjoying the fresh air and friendly Larkspur ambiance.

Came here for the first time this weekend! I absolutely love a challenge and alternative way into keeping in tip top shape other than the gym and this is great for your glutes and legs! We ran up the stairs, jogged down, ran it again, but this time skipping every other step, and so on! My co-workers and I have our 3:00 ritual everyday where we take FIVE flights of stairs everyday, four or five times which is equivalent to the same amount of stairs here at Arch Street Stairs, so climbing stairs is not new to me. WARNING: Don't drink a 5 hour extreme Energy shot! I seriously thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest from the stupid caffeine! Just eat a banana or an energy bar, or even a red bull, my stupid mistake!
