I came here for lunch and to finish up some paperwork on a Thursday. At about noon. It was not busy and had plenty of seating available.

The diner is just like any other diner as far as cheesy, cheap decor goes. The food is only adequate, maybe even mediocre. There is a small bakery section inside with cupcakes and cakes that look decent but nothing special.
Overall the initial appeal of this place is similar to that of a large diner in a small town on the outskirts of the Las Vegas area desert.
I ordered the luncheon special o the day, corned we'd sandwich with potato salad and a soft drink for 10$.

The sandwich was of a good size, served with brown mustard packets. It was what one would expect corned beef to taste like, not much you can do to make it special or make it horrible.
The potato salad, while admittedly not normally my thing, was horrible but that may be personal aversion to the product.

The service was acceptable. The staff upon arrival and through the duration of my visit were what I likened to customer service robots programmed by someone with Aspergers (don't get on my case I'm not making light of the disease but it is what it is.) let's call a spade a spade, shall we?
the staff here seemed to have death behind their eyes. Whether its from boredom or a collective bad week, I didn't care to ask.

Overall, for the heaping portions of corned beef on my sandwich and the stones to keep the fake Christmas tree up way past New Years and leave the lights on, three stars for this spot!

Lolol! Why am I laughing, gimme a sec and I'll tell ya.  I ordered 2 Sausages with 2 eggs sunny side up  with homefries and white toast!  What I received, Sausage with 2 scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast...........all of the above was cold! My waitress was a mistake that was born! No seriously she took our orders totally wrong because she brought my friends BLT made with pork Bacon instead of turkey bacon and burnt to a crisp toast.  I just laughed, I couldn't believe after she "dropped" the food off she vanished! Yes vanished into thin friggin air! I didn't get a chance to tell her my eggs were cooked wrong, there were no homefries and we received the wrong toast. Also that my buddy got pork Bacon instead of turkey bacon.  I just laughed as we sat there for a good 15 with no waitress in sight. This is where the laughter stopped.  I refused to settle for a wrong order as well as my buddy.  Normally a mistake is made and corrected, but this time it seemed they had a we don't care type of attitude.
Soooooooooo........I go to the kitchen and open the door and the waitstaff was lolly gagging and sharing in various "conversations" as if there weren't any patrons in the diner.  I was taken back when the waitress asked 'may I help you', in a condescending tone.  I proceeded to rip her a new asshole and the whole side of the diner where I was got quiet.  Don't ask me 'may I help you', as if I am bothering you, taking up your time, invading your space, getting on your nerves or eating for free?!??!?
Let's just say I was fed up because there is no reason to treat patrons in this manner.  Several other patrons were upset, however were not willing to speak up.  I just don't understand how hard it is to fill a simple order that is not complicated at all.
Dropped two bucks on the table for the watered down coffee and minuscule Orange juice then we left and went a few paces to Ihop, where we should have gone in the beginning.  Never again Arch, never again!

As I waited outside for my friend to show up, I observed a sign in the window of a "B" rating from the City. I sighed, hoping for the best. I guess I didn't wish hard enough...

When my friend arrived, our orders were taken by ??? (She never gave her name) and she left to get our drinks. With the exception of our entrees, every time this woman left, it took her 15 minutes to return with something... our entrees took 20 minutes. One nasty pina colada and thirty minute wait for the credit-card-to-be-charged later and we were out of there. I made the mistake of taking dessert to go, which was a disgusting piece of cake that tasted exactly like the plastic case it was kept in. No bueno, Arch Diner! Get your act together!

I've heard a lot of negative feedback about this place but I was in Canarsie, starving, and wanted to see for myself.

The decor was an eye sore. They definitely need to remodel. I think they're stuck in time. I took one look at the menu and thought I should do them the favor of calling Chef Gordon Ramsay to give them some much-needed help. I had too many pages to look through before I could make a decision. I finally ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which came with lettuce, 2 slices of tomatoes, 2 huge onion rings, and french fries. I don't recommend the pina colada. I've had better at Dallas BBQs and it was not worth my $8.

It was a late lunch/early dinner with a friend and thought the place was quiet---because it was practically deserted.

The waitress definitely took a while before she came back to clear the table and close out the check. I mean did you want to place the meal on the house?

    I didn't have a nightmarish experience but I didn't have a memorable one either.

Decades ago the Arch competed with other diners for diner supremacy so the quality and value was great. Over the years since then I've had many boring meals at the Arch but not recently. The decline has been so great that now, IMO, it's only good for a late-night dessert & coffee. The place looks old and somewhat less-than-clean, so one time I did a little experiment... I hid a single french fry on the window sill behind the vertical blinds... and came back a few weeks later AND IT WAS STILL THERE!

    Easy to write this:

    Horrible Service...
    Disgusting Food....
    Dirty Filthy Place....

    Food comes cold every time...
Why can't they serve hot food?

They have their waitresses kids in the back like a day camp center...

Stay away from this waste of real estate...

Looking forward to when I hit the mega ball, buy this place, and make a real diner!

I've only had breakfast here and its pretty solid.
I ordered my turkey bacon crispy, my eggs over easy and homefries well done and thats what i got! :)
I like their fries too, fluffy and soft just how i like 'em.

However, the last time I came here the waiter was friendly but not attentive at all. He served us our breakfast and never returned..! :-/

As usual, I shall be providing my honest opinion and review of this venue.

~Not only have I dined there on numerous occasions, but I've also worked there, so I'm pretty much privy to the happenings of this place~

DINING: I've dined at arch diner a handful of times. Whenever I went there, getting a decent waiter/waitress was like playing Russian Roulette. You never knew what you were going to get; just hope and pray that you aren't stuck with someone with a bad attitude. I will say however, that the male waiters were much nicer than the female waitresses. The decor of the place could use some work, but hey... I doubt it would have the same feel if it were different. The place was pretty clean which for me is a big plus! Management was okay, but the owners spoke to the customers(well the none regulars) very little.

WORKING: Working there was a pain in the a**. My biggest issue was with the owners. They don't care about their customers and care even less about their workers. What took the cake for me, and resulted in my quitting was an incident which occurred with a customer. One afternoon I was serving a customer who walked in with an attitude. The woman came in with her granddaughter, and ordered from the specials menu. Steak for herself, and chicken tenders for her granddaughter. She wanted her meal well done, and ordered appetizers. Her appetizers took a little bit longer than SHE expected so she became even more upset. She kept on yelling and saying forget the appetizers she just wants her food. I kept my cool, although I'm not a fan of people raising their voice at me. But the straw that broke the camels back, was when I brought her her food, and her ignorant behind told me to take it back and bring her appetizer. I asked this woman if she was serious, and with much disdain and attitude, she told me to get out of her face. So in true Jei fashion I let her have it. Told her if she was that hungry to carry her ignorant b*tch a** to the back and get her own damn food! :D Obviously the owner wasn't please with my words, and decided to talk down to me and disrespect me. NOW THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO DEAL WITH! I told him straight up to learn how to speak to people. I ended up having to speak to him about etiquette, customer service, and respect! At the end of it all, he asked me to not leave, but I still ended up telling him to take his job and shove it!

FOOD: To be quite honest, the only thing I felt safe eating, after working there, were the belgian waffles. That is basically the only thing there that their hands do not come in direct contact with. Not everyone knows the importance of washing hands, and not everyone cares to do so. The most disgusting thing of all, are the pickles and cole slaw. YUCK YUCK YUCK! I once cleared a table that had pickles and cole slaw which looked untouched. When I went to throw it away, one of the waiters told me to not do that because the owner would be upset. When I inquired more, he told me that because the pickles and cole slaw appeared untouched it could be used for another table. Now if that isn't the nastiest thing, then surely this will upset you. They give butter in two ways... the tiny sealed packs, and little cups in which they scoop the butter into. Again, as I was clearing the table, I discarded all what needed to be thrown out, and AGAIN one of the waiters told me that I should not throw out the SCOOPED cups of butter if they appeared untouched. Ask me if I gave a damn what these people had to say... HELL NO! Thats just nasty and disgusting, and if the owner ever saw me throwing it out and asked me to not do so, then he would have had to take it up with the health department!

YEA... so I no longer eat there. I'll PASS! :-/

Since I work across the street I wish it was better.  It's pretty poor though.  Come here for subpar diner food if you want, but you're probably better off at Boston Market down the street.

The staff is usually slow and act like they are exhausted...
Theres always some bimbo working at the front desk who I assume is the "hostess".
The food is mediocre and it takes forever and a day for you to get your meal. The price isn't so bad. Im kind of skeptical about the pickles & coleslaw so I would pass on it if I were you.

Bottom line: If you are looking for food and don't care who serves it or how long it will take you have found the right place.

So I'm in town visiting friends and they want to go to Arch Diner for breakfast. It's close by and a nice place to sit for a casual meal. There were no empty seats on this Sunday morning, so I'm optimistic. The food was OK (it's a diner)-- our food came out piping hot, which is a plus for me. I had a belgian waffle, eggs and bacon-- delish. Being in a group, I got to sample pancakes (OK), a ham & cheese omelette (bland) sausage (good) and potatoes (good).

We had a surly waiter who, when my friend asked to confirm her special request, told us that he was a "professional" and reassured her that he got it. Did he get it? Uhh, kinda-- does it count if you need a reminder or two... I have to admit that throughout our meal, he was attentive and got everything else right. Plus, we got a conciliatory basket of toast. But there's something about a dining experience where you're thinking that you may have to step up and assert yourself... but again, it's a diner.

I'll first put down the caveat that I'm only giving it one star because I haven't given enough 1-star ratings out...and also because in the grand scheme of evaluation this place really is on the bottom of my list. Put it this way: I'd rather eat snack wraps from McDonalds up the street.

It presents as a cute diner, and that's as good as it gets. I ordered a burger and fries, and my friends a gyro. The food came all looking the same beige-grey shade, and all the same mushy texture. Guess what, it all tasted the same too - like salt.  There was a ton of food, and by the time I finished lunch I had a legitimate stomach ache. Not a "oh gee i ate so much and i am happy" ache, but a "what did i just put into me gross" ache.

Avoiding it at all costs now, sorry.

As diners go, the Arch Diner isn't so bad. A little pricey for the area, but generous portions. It's a 50-50 chance on the wait staff-you either get a gem or a surly one.

One of the worst diners around. Food is not fresh and the wait staff is typically unfriendly and slow. Live in the area have a lot of experience with this one. If its the middle of the night do yourself the favor and drive to the Floridian on Utica and Flatbush.

I haven't been to the Arch in a while, but when I worked in East Flatbush, we would go to the Arch once in a while. The food is solid. Not the best diner food I've ever had, but very solid. I have only had burgers and sandwiches and that sort of thing there, but everything has always been fine. The onion rings are excellent, and the shakes are some of the best I've ever had. The place seems very clean. The waitstaff is odd. Either you get a wonderfully sweet and attentive waitress or one that is actually comically rude and abrasive. Seriously, it's actually funny sometimes. Overall, it's a decent place to eat, three stars overall, but 4 stars for the area, where the pickings are slim.

    love their tuna melt.

attentive service; good cole slaw and pickle with everything.

your average diner experience. It's pricey but the portions are so huge that you can take half to go for second meal at home.
