Review from J V.
South Burlington, VT
Grabbed breakfast this morning at the Arcadia.
Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait too long for a booth.
It was pretty busy but soon after the hostess seated us, our waitress served up coffees all around. She was friendly & had a great sense of humor. Getting our meal took awhile but the skillet & southwestern omelet was worth the wait. The special sauce is a house receipe w/ a slight kick.
My friend's skillet was huge. Definitely a crowd pleaser & popular by the looks of other patrons orders.
Interesting our toast came co-mingled in a basket not on the plate.
Our mission was successful.
Full bellies to help enjoy a beautiful Vermont Spring day outside hiking.
Definitely going back next weekend. -

I use to frequent this place a lot before it changed hands, for the worse. I have not been here in a while so I decided to "retry" the new ownership. From the onset, I knew it was going to be bad.
The hostess (seated at the counter, with her back to us) didn't even get out of her seat, let alone turn around completely to address us."Take a seat where you'd like" (at a dirty table, because that's all that was available) is what she said. The waitress then says "let me take care of your table" and picked up the napkins and other paper trash, but didn't wipe the table down (I had to to that myself).
The food was decent, standard diner fare, good portions but nothing special. Upon finishing our meals, the waitress, who was excessively engaged in conversation w/ some "friends" didn't bring the check until asked, multiple times, even though the food was gone, silverware crossed, napkins on top of plates. It was OBVIOUS, but to enhance my point I walked to the register and waited, and waited. The hostess said "where's your check?" I'm not sure, I've been waiting, so I thought I'd wait near the register.
I finally got my check, at the register. Although I ALWAYS leave at least a 20% tip, most often I wish I didn't leave any. This is one of those times. If you work for tips, why do people provide lackluster service and expect to get paid? I'm sorry but can't return to a spot that USE to be good, now it's just another GREASY SPOON diner w/ terrible service and medicore food. Enjoy, there's other places to spend my money. -

Arcadia is pretty typical as a diner. It's got plenty of counter seating and then window booth seating. I've only been here for breakfasts (which are served all day). The food is not exactly fantastic but you can expect a quick service and dependable breakfast quality. I usually go for the basics (eggs over medium, sausage, toast, coffee). They do that fine. I have yet to try the skillet meals but they just seem like too much breakfast for me. I recommend it for its consistency but don't expect a stand-out experience.

Friendly service with true Vermont hospitality. The hot and tasty food is prepared by the cook at the counter - so you know it's fresh. Excellent breakfast in a traditional antique diner.

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast in Aug/11. Staff treated us like gold despite trying to cope with a power outage. Food was generous and good. Felt like we were with old friends. Never fails (in restaurants as in life): good people = a good experience. We'll be back as often as we can get to Vermont!

Solid local diner for anyone staying outside of Burlington, and the antique Streamline is nice to see. The service is good and they remember you even after one visit.
Keep in mind the sign outside says Parkway Diner instead of Arcadia! -

Great spot for breakfast. Quick service at the counter, a friendly/feisty waitress, and good food. The breakfast casseroles come in small cast-iron pans: crispy potatoes, melty cheese, a variety of meat or veggies, and eggs on top. Good stuff!

Bomb ass gyros. Very close second only to the legendary Henry's Diner Gyro downtown.

This is now called the Arcadia Diner. Not sure when it was called The Parkway Diner, but that is no more. I had breakfast here on the way to the airport and it was a satisfying experience. I'm a fan of the old school diner, complete with chrome exterior and Formica counters inside and that's what you will find here. The food was good...satisfying omelet and home maid biscuit. Prices were a bit high for diner food but that's okay. Service was friendly and fast.
When in South Burlington and you want no nonsense food, this is the place. -

Thumbs up from me. One of the few diners left that I actually LIKE.
Steak and Eggs, decent coffee, muffins - it's all good. Quaint atmosphere with decent waitresses make it definitely worth your while. Love this place... -

A great diner! Close to the airport. My traveling companion and I got off the plane hungry and agreed we did not want "corporate food, wouldn't it be nice to find an old fashioned diner?" turned right at the corner of Airport Rd and Williston and there it was! I have had the gyro, the Philly cheese and an open face turkey sandwich - nothing fancy but perfectly cooked every time. Service is always fast and friendly.

Terrific place! Beautifully restored 50's railcar diner and the monstrous sausage egg and French toast breakie was awesome! Flying back in a week and will have it again!

It's got the historic classic American diner ambience down. That's for sure. The food tasted alright for diner fare. I might have gotten sick from eating here, so I can't give it an okay or better review. Nothing serious except some loose bowel movements. That prevented me from enjoying time on the mountains skiing. Which was the purpose of me being up in Burlington, VT. But I digress.
