Arc Thrift Stores
5 reviews for Arc Thrift Stores
Hands down, the best thrift store in Denver! I've come here a few times already, to look for halloween costumes and gaper outfits. I am happy to say I've always found what I'm looking for and I got a dress for my zombie outfit for a whopping $4. They have 50% off price tags every now and then and the last few times I have been able to take advantage of the extra discounts! I got a sweet onesie for $10 that I can't wait to show off on the mountain soon.
This place has a better selection and is more openly laid out then the S. Broadway location.
If you are looking for that hard to find piece for an ugly Xmas sweater party, 90's party or any other kind of silly outfit this is the first place you should check out!
This isn't the greatest ARC out there (that would be the one on S. Broadway) even though it's one of the bigger ones. My girlfriend had been here before and didn't think much of it (and she's a huge thrift store connoisseur) but we decided to go Halloween shopping here last weekend b/c we didn't have a lot of time and it's the closest one to us.
We were pleasantly surprised. They had the best selection of costumes I've seen in many thrift stores (even though I still didn't find everything I needed). My GF even found a bunch of "costume" dresses that she bought for everyday use.
If the parking lot is any indication, then it seems that in the current economy that being thrifty is the in vogue thing to do and is just as popular as being "green". My apologies Kermit, I'm not meaning your kinda green.
I don't frequent this location often enough but it does seem that every time I go in the floorplan has been moved around again. I usually go in with nothing in particular to be purchased, but with the idea of "I will now it when I see it." And I usually come away with something at a really good price, usually from the clothing department but I do like to give the store a good walk through.
Today was no different and I did come away with a nice Italian wool sportscoat in great condition for about what the price of a gallon of gas was back in the summer. And at the same time I got to help out those in need of our help. You cant beat that!
This ARC is huge and better organized than most. Generally a thrift store is a thrift store is a thrift store, and the only way they can gain bonus points is for A) not smelling like a thrift store, B) having cooler/cheaper stuff than a thrift store, or C) going above and beyond the thrift-store-call-of-duty.
Well, this one smells like a thrift store.
Their stuff isn't particularly cool or amazingly cheap.
But... they get an extra star because when I asked Mr. Thrift Store Guy whether the partially-smeared price on that Perfect Kitchen Table was $39.99 (a bit too high) or $59.99 (way too freakin' high), he out got a new price label and wrote it out for $29.99 (just right!) without me even having to ask! Also, he didn't insist that I take the crappy chair that came with it. We just needed a table... not a single crappy chair, even if it did sort-of match thanks to a really bad spray-paint job.
I wish I liked this store better. It's easy to find (within the same strip mall as Casa Bonita). It is a good size as it used to be an Office Max. However, I never find anything to buy here which is rare for me in any second hand store. I mean there is a ton of stuff here.
My gut feeling is that the good stuff never hits the sales floor and it's all picked over. Granted, it is a high traffic area. Forget about the "sale" days on Saturday morning. Fighting over a faded, stretched out pair of sweats is not my idea of a good time. Prices seem high for used goods. I'm always disappointed when I shop here.
