Never been to France? Neither have I, but I've watched enough movies to know that I've found my lil Paris in the heart of Dedham!

I've been dying to try this out for ages, so when I was in the mood for a lovely pre-valentines day Sunday brunch, this was the first place that came to mind. Th arrived around 10:30ish and was a bit surprised by how crowded it was but we were still seated promptly. The decor is everything I imagined a french bistro would be, modern and chic without being too pretentious, I absolutely adored the strategically placed mini lighted throughout the restaurant.

Our waitress was nice and handled herself well under all the pressure of the brunch rush. I ordered the Eggs Piperade which is basically a fancy name for an omelette stuffed with ham and peppers. It wad absolutely delish! And so were the potatoes that came along with the meal. My boyfriend ordered the Vanilla French Toast from the prixe fix menu, and let me tell you it tastes just as beautiful as it looks! Huge and extremely flavorful.

This place is just as great as I imagined it would be and I'm pretty sure ill be making my way here anytime I'm in the mood to go to Paris :-)

One star for decor, one star because last year, I had a pleasant lunch here.

In the times since that pleasant lunch, I have subjected myself to the misery that is this restaurant only at the behest of friends who wanted to go. The arrogance that seethes from this clearly mid-level restaurant is astounding. I've been ignored at the host stand while the host chats with a beer salesman, ignored at the bar (that oh-crap-i-caught-their-eye-now-i'm-going-to-run-in to-the-kitchen routine), and been rudely lectured by a townie ignoramus bartender chick about my taste in liquor is basically wrong. I swear I'm not a wildebeest.

To say the drinks are overpriced is like saying Wagner's Ring Cycle is kind of long. A lot of low-grade pours with Boston nightclub pricing. I'm almost shocked there is not a bouncer, but really, the place does a fine job of keeping people out on its own.

You know what? This is a supposedly French restaurant that offers neither cheese nor charcuterie, a middling-at-best wine list, and service equivalent to the TGI Friday's that is literally down the street. Long story short, there is absolutely no reason to come here, especially when in the same plaza is Met Club, Legal Sea Food, and several other options that aren't so achingly presumptuous.

So, my wife and I have been to Aquitaine numerous times and have had relatively good experiences thus far. Tonight though was a miserable dining experience. We came in, cheerfully looking forward to a dinner out, and were seated quickly, within 5 minutes.

    Pros:
The food was good, not great, but certainly good.
The French onion soup is always wonderful

    Cons:
    1. Our server was missing in action most of the night. The only times we got to speak with her was when we asked the bus boy to get her attention.
    2. They forgot our appetizers and tried to bring out our entrees first.
    3. After they screwed up it took them 15 minutes to bring out two appetizers and then afterward another 40 minutes until our entrees came out again. Our dining experience was over 2 hours long and not in a good way.
    4. When our food was brought out, the server had literally put one plate of food on top of another, i.e. the bottom of my dinner plate was resting on top of my wife's dinner.
    5. When our bill came, my wife's 3-course meal [restaurant week] was taken off the menu. We figured this was a nice gesture from their end to comp her meal because of the poor service. We gave our credit card and when the bill came back to sign, the prix fixe price ended up on the bill! I think they never intended to comp the meal and fixed the charge when they realized their mistake. The worst part of this is that they never came back to us to apologize. Either for the crappy service or for the part that they had screwed up on the bill. On a fundamental level it's just wrong to charge someone's credit card a different amount than the bill that was initially presented to them, and that's the most upsetting bit of all.

All in all it comes down to this, the food is good but the dining experience was awful.

Meh, last time we're going here. On the other hand, perhaps the idea is to avoid Restaurant week meals entirely!

My husband and I decided to have a romantic lunch for two here recently. We were seated within a minute despite it being peak lunch hour (12pm) and there were empty tables inside and outside on a gorgeous Spring day.

Our waitress seemed attentive at first, but she quickly forgot about us. We sat for about ten to fifteen minutes before she realized we were ready for the check and to have our plates cleared.

The food is decent but on the pricey side. My husband and I had their large bottle of San Pellegrino, a bowl of tomato bisque soup, the poor boy lunch entree and the Aquitaine burger entree -- we left $47 poorer. The portions are way beyond decent and we didn't finish our meals, but they're not exactly the type of food you want to take home either. The best part of the meal was the complimentary hot French bread and butter - yum!

The ambience is very nice and intimate. We've walked by several times during the evenings on weekends to find the place full to the brim with an over three hour wait list for a table. Insane.

Bottom line -- decent if you're craving something from the other side of the ocean. Be prepared for a slight price hike, and make sure you make a reservation for dinner.

I've been to the one in the South End which spoiled me, because the one in Dedham makes me weep :(

Been here for brunch a few times and it's been completely empty, which is always alarming. they can't seem to get their act together each time. I understand the portion size is small, but the meals have been absolute meh

On the last visit my French toast was just ok, nothing to write home about, but for that price I should have gotten a foot massage included. My dining buddy hated his eggs Benedict which was so small and bare we weren't sure what to do about it.  An added bonus: there were unidentifiable items floating in the milk served with the coffee...you wont catch me here again, sadly.

Ok, so this place has won me over.  My first experience was not that great but at one of the owners request I gave it a second try- and I'm glad I did!  We started out with Oysters which were beautifully presented and quite frankly yummy- then my friend got the fish and chips and I got the burger and we split the plates.  All of the food was cooked just the way we wanted it- we then had this great dessert that I cannot remember the name of but was a puff pastry that had french ice cream on the top- not too sweet and the perfect end with coffee or tea.

I'm really glad I gave this place a second shot. I will definitely go there again!

Oh and my servers name was Julie and she was tremendous!

I made a reservation for a Friday night through their online reservation service. As soon as we walked in we were seated! There were a lot of empty tables for a Friday evening. We had tried to eat here a few weeks before on a Friday and they were on an hour and a half wait. If you are going on a weekend I would recommend making a reservation just to be safe.

The service here was great! Our waitress was conversational and helpful with narrowing down items on the menu.

My friend and I are on a bit of a budget so this restaurant isn't something we can't exactly afford all the time. We split an appetizer and an entree to save on costs. We ordered the Bacon and caramelized onion tart as well as the rock shrimp risotto. My friend and I spilt meals all the time and portions are usually never a problem. I will say the portions here are quite small. I am always full when I eat dinner out and split and appetizer and entree, this was one of the first times I wasn't!

Even though the plates were a bit on the smaller side and a bit expensive the food was really delicious! It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants at Legacy Place!

I enjoyed a lovely dinner here last night with a client and some coworkers. I made a reservation on Open Table for 5 people at 7PM and our table was ready and waiting for us when we walked in the door.

I had the escargot to start. To be fair, the last time I had escargot was in Paris and they were served in the shell in the most amazing garlic butter sauce I've ever had. The ones I had last night were good too, but super hot (burned my mouth)! And there was so much garlic on them I could barely tell what I was eating.

For an entree I had the roasted swordfish (very tender and juicy) with creamed spinach and fried potatoes. I was actually relieved to see that the spinach wasn't too creamy. I don't like to hide the flavor of vegetables.

Service was great; our server was attentive and friendly. I could see the manager walking around, which was nice to see him present and looking available. Starters and entrees were timed nicely and we did not feel rushed at all.

I tried Aquitaine several time. In each instance i was amazed by the atmosphere service and most importantly the quality of the food. As a restaurant owner Aquitaine has raised the standard of the food.

They Provide high quality service and unique attention and rich layers of texture. I took tuna dish and tarte tatin for desert .My guest took a filet au poivre which was amazing I highly recommend these plates .

In a different visit  the manager Lyndon who was very proffesional and really takes care of his guests complimented us with a variety of desert chocolate mousse and paint Perdue and Cree brûlée. different kind of desert but each desert is rich In tastiness I highly recommend

The variety of food btw burger. Snadwich, salads , steaks and fish and sea food will be the best place to invite your guests especially the quality is all consistent and high

I ended up here after walking out of Legals in Legacy place hoping it would be better. The atmosphere was nice, no foul smells, soft relaxing music, descent service, I ordered the Calamari and it came out rubbery like an elastic band and had enough salt on it to choke a horse. I also ordered a turkey club sandwich. all around good but not your traditional "CLUB" as we know it no bread in the middle. It had more lettus than turkey, tomatoes were so ripe they melted in your mouth, the lettus was wilted and it only had 2 thin slices of turkey that did not taste fresh. The bacon was awesome and the bread was amazing and the fries were good. They should call this a vegatable sandwich with turkey. The kitchecn appears to be poorly managed and most of what came out was a disapointment. Desserts cost almost as much as the sandwich, they really need some small dessert options for lunchtime...

This is the second time I've had dinner here, and my impression was the same as the first -- way overpriced and over-rated.

I arrived on time with a reservation and was seated after about a 10 minute wait, which wasn't too bad but slightly annoying. The atmosphere is very noisy and lively. The server was very friendly and gave us suggestions for appetizers and wines which were both appreciated. The wines by the glass were decent and the escargot was very good, but the muscles were not very flavorful.

What really bothered me the most were the entree items. My boyfriend's scallop dish, at $26.50 consisted of 3 - 4 tiny scallops on a large bed of starch. It was really an appetizer portion at best. The scallops were also on the dry side, as was my duck. The greens would have been better on the lighter side vs. served in a heavy sauce as well.

Folks, this isn't downtown Boston or even Newton -- it's Dedham. $26.50 for dry scallops is just ridiculous. I know Legacy Place is the popular place to be in this area which is probably why this restaurant is staying alive, but the food just doesn't mesh with the prices (IMHO).

Will eat at The Met or Legal's next time I'm in the area.

Tried out this place last night with a friend. We had tried to drop by a few weeks ago for a Friday night dinner, but they were on an hour long wait so we decided not to wait. This time we made reservations for 6 pm and were seated right away. Service was awesome - our waitress was a total sweetheart, and the food was classy but still interesting. Caramelized onion tart and rock shrimp risotto (recommended by the waitress) were both yummy. Waitstaff was really quick with refilling water and clearing dishes. We will definitely be back!

I went a second and third time (I will describe both experience in this post)

The second time I took a Filet au poivre with Spinach as a side it is amazing!!! the meat quality is premium - I took it rare and the spinach is the best side they have. They add to it bechamel sauce

In my first  trip I took the Aquitaine burger which is amazing and high quality!!

The guests with me on the second visit  took Tuna and Salmon dish - the tuna is rare excellent quality and tasty - you can notice the pink color which usually stand out  for top of the quality of the food!

and the Atlantic  Salmon is just your classical dish highly recommended.

In my third  visit I tasted the Swordfish!! the quality of the swordfish is by far the best quality I have ever tasted (check the picture) it is offered with Spinach Bechamel sauce + garlic potato it is just an experience by itself the feel of the texture of this warm amazing plate. The swordfish is really a thick wintery full of flavors and crispiness highly recommended

check the pictures of all of the plates) the picture does not give the quality of the food

also we took desert Apple Tarte Tintin (second visit) it comes with a vanilla ice cream - it melts when you eat it extremely tasty highly recommended - the texture of the tart as it is saoked in honey + a combination of apple. Just the perfect equilibrium

We also shared a creme Brulee which is also the safe classical outstanding desert!

In a different visit (3rd) we took the Pain Perdue and The chocolate Fondant. If I can recommend to pick anything btw all deserts,  I would pick the first the Pain Perdue , the bread is soaked on a milky pecan sauce! on top of an ice cream, it is just an unforgettable desert worth to try if you never have tried it

The chocolate fondant is very rich in chocolate intensity and highly recommended

my pick would be: 1- Pain Perdue  2- Tarte Tatin - 3 Chocolat Fondant - 4 Creme Brulee

the service was top notch even though the restaurant is full - I just recommend to reseseve to ensure no wait time - but it is an amazing restaurant with amazing service
Thanks Julie our waitress she did an amazing job! the Manager takes always care of you! the staff and overall experience is unique

We stopped by here for dinner prior to the movies. We started off the evening with Oysters and Escargots. The apps were enjoyable.

For dinner my friends ordered the steak frites and I had steak tartar. My tartar had his very sour/vinegary taste to it. It totally was a turn off for me.

One of my friends complained to the bartender that her steak was chewy and returned it. The manager came out and insisted to make another or have something different but my friend refused. Then she pointed to me and said I have something to say. Thanks for putting me on the spot! I told the manager why the dish was dissatisfying. He said, it's the capers and said he'll fix it for me. He came back out from the kitchen with plain/dry raw beef. OMG! Dude, was he trying to food poison me? I asked the bartender for some lime to juice up the beef and tried it out. I had a few bites and couldn't handle it anymore. I was still charged for that! As for my other friends, they didn't finish their steak frites because the sauce was overwhelmingly salty.

We're definitely not coming back to this location. We rather spend our hard earned money where it's worth the experience.

Yum, yum, yum!!!  We went here for dinner and I loved everything about my meal.  The fleur de lis drink was fantastic to go along with my gnocchi with a side of mushrooms.  The gnocchi were in an amazing sweet sauce and the root vegetables were perfect in texture: not too crunchy and not too soft either, the sauce complemented this wonderfully.  The mushrooms were great and were seasoned well.  My dining companions got the Saturday special steak, local sole, and scallops.  The only complaint regarding their dishes was the price: the Saturday special's price wasn't listed but it ended up being $36 which we thought was too much.  The gnocchi was well worth the $15 I paid, so I can't mark them down for that!  The hot chocolate pudding was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.  Their meals and atmosphere live up to the expectation of a fantastic European experience.

I was in the Boston area for business and our hotel was near this place. It was walking distance (perfect when you want to get tipsy!) so we tried this it out. It was a random Monday, but it was still pretty packed! Perhaps because it's the holiday season.  It's a cute place. Nice ambiance and good music. Our waiter was wonderful. One thing, after I finished my dinner I put my napkin on the table. Well, perhaps I should have folded it because the owner (I guess) came by and kindly folded it for me. Hey, I'm just a simple gal from Baltimore...I digress

They bring out this bread with butter and roasted garlic. AWESOME! I ate a little too much of that while sipping on my wine. For my entre I got the short rib fettuccine. It was DELICIOUS!! The short ribs were seasoned well and tender. And the sauce was very very good! I'd go back here if I have to go to that area for work again. It's different and good when you don't feel like going into Boston.

My hubby and I went to Aquitaine for our 3 year Anniversary Dinner and it was such a romantic and delicious experience.
The hostess and manager knew it was our anniversary and took very good care of us.

Along with the french bread they offer you, we ordered the fondue for an appetizer. It's not what you expect a fondue would look like. The cheese and garlic are melted on to a hot pan and you're given toasted long croutons to grab the cheese. I wished there was more cheese but it was the perfect amount without getting too full before dinner.

For entrees, the hubby ordered the NY Strip Steak with a delicious béarnaise sauce on top and fries. It had to been one of the best steaks either one of us had tasted. So well cooked and the flavors were amazing. I kept asking him to cut me another piece. haha!
I ordered the Tagliatelle pasta with peas, maitake mushrooms, green onions and truffle butter. Just beautiful!! The pasta and mushrooms, cooked so well and the truffle butter wasn't too strong.

The presentation, the flavors, the service was on point. Had to been one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

We ordered the Apple Tarte Tatin with Crème Fraiche Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce for dessert. I was too full to eat much of it.. But from what I tasted and the looks on my husband's face while he was eating. It was the perfect end to a fantastic meal.

Even better when the Manager came over and congratulated us on our anniversary and gave us the dessert on the house. So So Sweet.

An expected busy Saturday evening at Legacy Place with reservations at 7  p.m. and seated immediately upon arrival.  The busy bistro had soft lighting and a fun vibe that made for a lovely ambiance.  Although the fiance wasn't too thrilled with the proximity of the seating in relation to other tables and it could be considered more on the loud side of the noise continuum, I actually liked the vibrancy!   Our server, Marvin, was so sweet, fun, and attentive...simply wonderful!  Which was in stark contrast to the female hostess who seated us. Maybe she was having an off night, but if she wasn't, management should reconsider this hostess or at the very least give her a lesson on hospitality... but on to the food!

I loved the fresh baguette that was served with a side of butter and baked garlic cloves... sooooo good!  I love carbs!  I also had the French Onion Soup... delish!  My chicken was served with the most wonderful sauce and so tender.  The seasoned fries were very good as well.  Sampling the bar steak and croquettes confirmed that this is one restaurant that must be revisited sooner than later:)  With some reservations, I still rate this as a five because frankly French food is one of my favorite cuisines, and well, baguettes are my weakness!  The food was yummy as well and  our server, Marvin, bumped up my rating which would have initially had been a four.

Although the desserts looked so delightful, I was stuffed.  Alas, there is always next time;)

We have been here twice now and both times were great. The niçoise salad is fantastic, but the best thing we had here was pain perdue, it is an absolutely outstanding dessert!!!!!! Their only downfall is that it's very loud in there but both times we came it was PACKED with people and one thing I've found with restaurants is that if its not good people don't go. Well this place is great and lots of people go.

Absolutely incredible! I took out my girl for valentines day and wow! For starters the maitre'd linden was incredible. He was thoughtful, checked in, offered advice on dishes (and romance), and helped with service. The food was incredible, oysters, escargot, duck ravioli, filet mignon, everything to perfection. Presentation was incredible, servers friendly, and the fresh baked baguette was perfect . I even shared a delicious creme brûlée to cap off the perfect evening. Apparently I have to step my valentine game up for next year, but I will be a regular at Aquitaine for some reasonably priced romance. Much love.

I have mixed reviews about Aquitaine's Sunday brunch.  The ingredients and dishes served seemed fresh and the presentation was nice, but I thought the food left something to be desired.  We ordered the following items off of the brunch menu:
-Potato Latkes, House-Smoked Salmon, Poached Eggs & Caper Crème Fraîche ($11.95)
-Turkey Club Sandwich with Smoked Bacon, Avocado & Tomato on Brioche Toast ($9.95)
-Fried Shrimp Po' Boy with Chipotle Remoulade, Basil Pesto & Pommes Frites ($11.95)
-Burger with Applewood Bacon, Cheddar, Truffle Mayo, Broiche, and Pommes Frites ($13.95)
-Salade Nicoise-Oil Cured Tuna, Boiled Egg, Artichoke Hearts, Basil Vinaigrette ($11.95)

Everyone placed their meal on an average level...nothing overwhelmingly terrific.  My friend and I were disappointed that our potato latke/smoked salmon dish had "poached" eggs that were cooked completely through!  Bummer.  However, the flavors of our dish were very good.  Our group also enjoyed the brunch cocktails, but I was surprised at how expensive they were!  I'm not sure how quickly I will be returning to this location, but the ambiance of the restaurant might entice me back.  Perhaps the outdoor seating (4 people max) may be fun for another day.

This is my choice for Legacy Place dining (I definitely recommend it over Met Burger Bar and Legal C Bar). I like the atmosphere and the food. I met my best friend here once and we proceeded to drink too much wine and eat too much bread before shopping. The bread was a bad idea because it made me feel fat but the wine countered that by making me think everything looked great on me. Ah, the pleasures of shopping while drunk.

I had the warm beet salad. It's good. Maybe not the best one I've ever had. Same with the French onion soup. I've also had the bar steak with carmelized shallots, which was excellent.  The mussels are also wonderful. Again, more shallots. I love shallots though we never seem to cook with them at home. They also have a great wine list and really great service.

I will say that many of the things I've had here, though very good, don't necessarily stand out in comparison to other French restaurants I've been to in the city, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

My son and his girlfriend treated myself and my husband to a great meal Saturday to celebrate my birthday.  We had quite an assortment from Duxbury clams to Salmon, French Dip, and Shrimp Risotto.  Everything was great!
First they serve Gougerre's (which are tiny French popovers with greyere cheese) then they bring out a hot baguette with roasted garlic baked in the garlic bulb and whipped butter....sooooo good!  We even ended with the Apple Tart (to die for).
When I looked at the menu on line I thought the prices were on the high side but they go above and beyond on the presentation, service, as well as the quality of the food.  If your looking for a great alternative to the usual chains, I highly recommend this gem!!

We had a business dinner meeting here last night for my colleagues and I from a nearby hotel. We had a private section, which was nice because we still felt as though we were in the restaurant but with our own space; the ambiance, service & food was exceptional.  We had a prix-fixe menu and this is what I got: WARM BEET SALADE with boucheron, walnuts & champagne vinaigrette- delicious! BAR STEAK with caramelized shallots, dijon cream & aged cheddar croquettes; which had the most amazing sauce and melt-in-your-mouth-good mashed potato croquettes, and the Pain Perdu: Maple Syrup and Walnut Ice Cream.. which was like french toast with ice cream on top. The managers, Brian and Lyndon, were on hand to make sure everything was running smoothly and did a wonderful job. As a hospitality professional I would recommend this establishment for any business dinner, or event need you may have.

    Thank you Aquitaine of Dedham!

My boyfriend and I went to Aquitaine at Legacy last night for dinner before our 9:15pm movie. Knowing how busy Legacy can be, I was prepared to wait forever for a table and have to sprint through dinner to catch the movie. Little did I know....

We arrive to our 7pm reservation around 710pm due to parking and our table was immediately ready. The Maitre'd was really nice, and just overall pleasant which isn't something common with most front of the house staff.

We sat down and bread and water was brought over immediately. Our waitress (I can't believe I forgot her name) was attentive, thoughtful in her recommendations and overall just a pleasure. We started with the Escargot and it was wonderful. I got the Steak Frites which I loved, and my boyfriend got the Swordfish. I'm a huge fish person but Swordfish is something I've never been a fan of, I always find it too fishy, and almost sharp tasting. This was not the case with his meal it was cooked perfectly, had a great but not overpowering flavor.

I'd highly reccommend Aquitaine, service, food, ambiance...it was the perfect date night. We made it to our movie with plenty of time to spare :)

Portions are small for any meal at any price.  I got the short rib which was one lonely cube of meat on a bed of plain polenta.  It looked poor and tasted about what I would make at home except there would be three bones and vegetables to round out the plate. Our waitress was completely whacked and couldn't remember anything right. Drink orders wrong and double charges on the bill. Letting customers leave hungry when there are so many other options in the area is not a good way to do business.  This place is 86ed.

we tried out this deedham location for the restaurant week and loved our dining experience! They offered regular menu items alongside the restaurant week specials. i ordered sweet corn soup, monkfish and summer peach tarte. my friend who was allergic to paprika and peppers received personalized treatment from the chef, Kareem, the manager and our server who were extremely friendly and courteous. The chef put together a pasta dish with scallops in truffle creme sauce. amazing!!!!

The quality of food, service, and ambiance were all excellent!

The restaurant is located inside a large shopping mall (whole foods, apple store, clothing shops, sephora).

Five star for the Sunday brunch! We went to Aquitaine to a Sunday brunch a few months back and now are regular there!

Excellent Coffee! Freshly baked cinnamon rolls, fresh juice, egg dishes plus an excellent service for under ten dollars!

The restaurant is always packed and noisy; alive and uplifting! we love it. The restaurant may not look like a very kid-friendly place but our two year old loves the items from their kid menu!

My wife and I went for our anniversary, and right from the start, the service was excellent.  In addition, both our meals were superb.  We really enjoyed our meal at Aquitaine and plan to return often.

I have been to four out of the six restaurants in their restaurant group and never had a problem until this past Saturday when my fiancée and I went to Aquitaine in Dedham.   We had a 9:45 pm reservation and were in the area early so we decided to stop in and see if there were any earlier tables.  The host was incredibly rude when we walked in.  I walked up and asked if there were any tables for two, his reaction was a very abrasive "do you have a reservation?"  When I was giving my response about how we had one later but wanted to see if antyhing eaerlier was open, he picked up the phone and started talking to someone.  I was in mid-sentence and had to wait until he had finished his phone call until I could finish what I was saying.  After this rude interaction, I told him I would like to cancel my reservation.  This kind of customer service is unacceptable.

I do not recommend this restaurant unless you like be treated like garbage.   I won't waste my money there.

    **UPDATE**
Shortly after I posted this, I was contacted by Aquitaine.  I was impressed in how fast I got a response.  They have advised me that this will not happen again and that the appropriate steps have been taken to correct this.

This is the type of customer service I would expect.  I will give it another try and let you know how it goes.

I am not a fan. The service is good. The decor is very nice. I

feel the food is good. But I think for the money, there are just much better choices. For example: I had the French onion soup. The cheese was good, the presentation was nice, the taste was just ok. Also very greasy.

The people with me had steak. It was well cooked. But one of them asked for steak sauce. They had no sauce in the restaurant. Give it a break. Who does not have steak sauce.

I am just not a fan. Nothing bad to say. But in todays world for the same money.  you can have great. Its just my opinion.

A little less than impressed. I wish a brasserie menu accompanied the brasserie interior and ambiance. I just ordered a salad and a couple of sides (mushrooms and beans) and despite asking for light on the oil I sopped up enough to ring out my dish towel napkin.

Service was mediocre, and we were a large party ordering a lot of food and drinks necessitating a lot of attention.

The food was good but I doubt I will return. Aquitaine did not serve anything I typically crave from a "French" menu. I was looking for a wider variety menu that offered a greater number of small plates.

I was dressed like a suburban dbag when we stopped in to fancypants Aquitaine. But it *is* the suburbs and I *am* a...wait a minute. Anyway, an early evening of shopaholism worked up our appetites and we thought Aquitaine sounded like the best option. I've been to their Chestnut Hill (I friggin love the burbs!) and Back Bay locations, as well as Gaslight, and have always been impressed with the meals I've enjoyed. But at this location everything was a little less than I expected.
Start with first impressions, and the hostess. Maybe she was just European, but she came off pretty bitchy! Which is fine, but don't be a hostess if your face can't smile at suburban dbags. I was tempted to tell her I was Abe Froman, the sausage king of Chicago. The only reason I'm not more upset that she was all snotty mcfartface is because I was dressed in a t-shirt and cargo shorts. But come on, it's an outdoor mall. Get over yourself. Also, it was early when we ate, probably 5:30ish, so the place was pretty empty and many male waitstaff were gathered around the hostess's station, which seemed unprofessional. I'm sure they just wanted to chat during the lull, but it's weird to be greeted by one grumpy woman (maybe she's sick of fending off the waiters) and a gang of men.
The server made up for the hostess situation completely. She was friendly and devoid of snoot. She smiled, was present and very quick with the water refills. Flawless service from her, really. I also liked the decor outside, with its Parisian look and feel (but without the smoke inhalation you find in the real Paris). The cute, comfortable chairs and non-wobbly tables were pluses.
The food was a little hit or miss. My dining partner's fish was superb. I tried a bite and it was just divine, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. She did pick out a few bones, though. The mashed potatoes with it were very good as well. The whole thing had plenty of butter all over it, so maybe I was blinded by the deliciousness of pure creamery butter. My burger was decent, but a bit overcooked. I asked for it medium because I expected this caliber of restaurant to actually serve me a medium burger. Sadly, I received a burger that was just about well-done, with a tiny bit of pink in the very center. That's not to say the burger wasn't good, it was actually pretty juicy and had a delicious crispy char on it like nothing I've ever tasted. I was kind of shocked and impressed that it was so cooked and still so juicy. Still, I wish it was pinker. Normally, I'd avoid ordering a burger after receiving one that's overcooked, but I'd try theirs again and order it medium-rare.

I have been here for brunch several times, all of which were fabulous. I love the feel of this place. It's bustling and bistro-esque. It doesn't hurt that the service is fantastic, even though brunch is usually packed.

The coffee here is delicious, as are the drinks. Highly recommend the Omlette Alsacienne or the Potato Latkes with poached egg and smoked salmon. The salads are also really good. I think its reasonably priced considering the quality of the food here.

So what's the verdict? Oui, oui!

Went for lunch with hubby last Wednesday, we wondered in with no knowledge of the place, liked the decor and prices, so sat down. Our waiter was off the floor, but we were greeted by another server quickly. Upon meeting, Eddie, our wonderful personable waiter, we knew we had found a great place. I had three cocktails, Margaritas with Chambord, which although small, packed a punch;) We shared a steak salad, they didn't flinch, and brought it out in two bowls. We then each ordered Steak Frites, wonderful flavorful meat, with the best darn french fries I have ever had, that begged to be dipped in the au jus.

We loved it, and will be returning. Of note, when we arrived, at around 12pm, we were one of about four parties. By the time we left, at 2ish, the place was completely packed. It attracks an older "ladies who lunch" crowd, my husband said he felt he was in the midst of a delightful tea party.

Had dinner on Friday night at this place.   It's a upscale place with limited menu and have good selection of wines.   It's in a nice shopping area called Legacy place.

Even though menu is limited or small,  the quality of the food seems to be out of this world.  I had their Cod preparation and it was too good.  This is the best fish I have ever had.  The broth was little spicy (just the way I like it) and the fish was nicely cooked.

I recommend this place for sure.

I wouldn't go rushing back here. It was good enough, but nothing spectacular, especially for the price.

We were seated immediately even though we arrived about 15 mins early, which was nice.

The food was fine.  We started with the fondue which had a nice flavor but was a bit greasy. My boyfriend and I both ordered the filet au poivre, yet mine was way undercooked compared to his. How do you get the same steak, ordered the same way yet they're cooked completely different?

As far as ambiance, I'm surprised so many people described this place as romantic. Not only are tables stuffed in there like sardines but it's very loud.

What annoyed me most was the service.  I felt rushed the entire time. I sat with an empty drink for way too long. To the point where I decided to just wait until I got my coffee with dessert.  Which by the way, was also a fail. After ordering coffee and dessert we were told that they had no clean coffee cups. So we waited about 15 minutes for our coffee, BUT they still brought out the dessert anyway.  So then we're sitting there with dessert and no drinks. Maybe I'm just picky, but I usually like those 2 things together.

We arrived and straight away we both said the decor reminded us of Balthazar in NYC, that's cool, just an observation.

We didn't have a reservation at all, which was kind of silly, it was a Saturday evening after all and we wanted to sit outside but it was very humid so we decided to go inside, they seated us straight away, score!
The food is French/American but I think it's more nouvelle cuisine than haute cuisine, however, I like both.

We were first given fresh baguette from the oven, hot with butter and garlic cloves, very tasty.
From the prix fixe menu we started with the soupe a l'oignon with sherry and gruyere, which we shared and pommes au gratin and a roasted chicken in and amazing sauce over a bed of mashed potatoes and a green vegetable which I cannot remember.  The filet au poivre was cooked to perfection and the pomme au gratin had the right texture and complimented the cognac cream.  The chicken breast was on the bone and succulent and the mashed potatoes were so yummy.  Dessert was creme brulee.

The martinis we had were very flavorful and the sauvignon blanc tasted refreshing with the chicken.

It's a little on the pricey side but the food is excellent and the wait staff were so attentive and knew the menu very well.

Always thinking of romance...;-) ... this place would be lovely for a date and a great venue to get to know someone in a romantic way and be all cozy and flirty and suggestive, just dreaming...

    I'll definitely be back again.
