I went to Aquilano to have Spike color and cut my hair back in April. I was very happy with the cut and color but had thought that maybe the color had faded in the first couple of days. I had left my glasses at the salon and when I went back to retrieve them Spike followed up with an email saying that he didn't like what the color did and to come in and have it corrected for free. The second time it came out great and my hair and color grew out nicely. I recently went back for another shorter summer hair cut trying to cash in on one of their summer internet specials and Spike again did a fabulous and fast job! The time slot had already been filled but he squeezed me in another time slot and still gave me the internet special.
Although I thought it pricey I think that the salon is average compared to other salons in Old Town. They also have a $20 dollar coupon on their website for first timers to the salon and a referal program. If you sign up for their emails they sometimes send out internet summer specials for the different hair stylists when they have openings.
The salon is 4 blocks from Braddock metro but is also accesible via the DASH bus system and can be walked from USPTO but it will take a good bit of time. It being 7 blocks N from king street also makes it bus/walk accessible using the King street Trolley.

Kym has been doing my hair for years, and I always love what she does with my hair.
Kym cuts my hair and the cuts are reliably good. The atmosphere is nice. However, the shampoos are consistently below mediocre. One of the most enjoyable aspects of a salon visit is the pampering shampoo, and these pale in comparison to what other Old Town salons provide. Prices are high, which is standard fare for the area.
