MUST GO!!! The place is a dive... but the deal of picking your lobster, them steaming it for you and you taking it home for $15 is UNBEATABLE!!!! We ordered two lobsters (2lbs each). The guy was really nice... he took our order for the two lobsters and told us to come back in 45min. He steamed them for us, put them on ice, and then packed them with additional ice so they would be good for our 3hr car ride home!!! They were amazing that evening when we got back home!! Can't beat the price. CASH ONLY

This place is seriously no frills but it is def an awesome spot! The guys working here are straight from Deadliest Catch, a bunch of scurvy sea dogs or something so do not expect the customer experience of the century!! But WHO CARES?? Come here for Lobster, Lobster, and oh yeah Lobster.. forget about everything else. These bad boy are huge (up to 12 Lbs!) and really moderately priced (about $8/lb for anything over 4lbs) When you see the size of the claws on these thing (about as big as your head) you are guaranteed to say DAYYYUUUMM. I expected the bigger lobsters to not be as tasty as the smaller one but I got a 6.5 pounder and it was one of the most delicious things I ever ate.
You can stop in pick out a lobster and tell them what time you will be back and when you stop back in they will throw it on ice and pack it up for you for free... but THATS IT. The buck stops there, from then on, you're on your own!
On a seriously well... serious note.. These lobsters are huge, their shells are thick and strong and very sharp! If you buy a big one and you have a little metal shell cracker... its gonna be like bringing a spitball gun to a shootout! You literally will not be able to get in the claws! I had to use my tire iron from my jeep to smash this thing open, no lie!.. so get a hammer or something and you will be all set! Also, its really easy to cut your hands on the shells when you are struggling with these things so if you can get your hands on (or hands in I should say) some cheap gloves or something... it would be a good idea!
Love this place. Will stop back again Fo Sho -

Mussels.
Little Necks.

Lobster. Lobster. Lobster.
We walked out of here with over 5lb of fresh-fresh-freshy-fresh seafood for under $30. No lies, all truth. And it was mad fresh, kids. Out of the whole entire bounty, only one clam refused to pop. Not bad, huh?
I've been searching far and wide for a seafood market in RI with very little luck... ironic for The Ocean State, huh? Well, this place tickled me pink with pleasure because it's seriously legit and the dudes that work here are WICKED friendly and helpful. You walk down the dock and into what is essentially an open barn on stilts with massive open tanks filled with local seafood of all types. We ran around like mad hens, searching for the perfect lobster when one of the burly, happy-faced fishermen appeared with a 1.5lb critter freshly plucked from the water surrounding us. He then brought us over to the barrels of bivalves, where we happily pointed to the mussels and little necks which he promptly packaged up for us over ice.
Did I mention they were $4/lb? And that the gorgeous local oysters were $1 a piece? Amazing prices. Amazing.
Needless to say, we dined like royalty that night. All we did was steam the little necks and they were honestly the most delicious this gal has ever had -- and I'm from Cape Cod, people ;). We did the mussels in a simple shallot, thyme, beer and butter sauce and they were the stuff my dreams are made of. The lobster was sweet and rich and full of roe, which is a good thing if you're into that stuff. Add to that a loaf of crusty bread from Seven Stars and a bottle of Vinho Verde, and you've got a sweet RI feast -- it doesn't get any better than that, kids.
I highly recommend this place - I know that each and every time I'm in Newport, I'll go here and return home with my frutti de mare and be as happy as ever. Truth. -

LOBSTER HEAVEN!!
Buy them here and take em back to your timeshare rental if your lucky enough to have one..or your home and stram em yourself.
Ive never seen bigger lobster anywhere. One person bought a 10 lber when i was there.
Also they have fresh scallops and clams which were very very good. Mussels looked a bit off so didnt buy them.
Its located all the way in the end of Bowans wharf and they have parking all the way in the back.
Its an amazing place to just go have a look around !! -

Difficult to find this place. The Lobster dinner was OK. It was an anniversary dinner, so the sunset was lovely out on the dock.

$7 a pound for live lobster and they cook it right there for you!!! 5 stars all the way. The restaurants were charging up to $25/lb for the same thing, so this is the best deal in town by a long shot.
The guys working there can be nice, actually. Just ask them how the fishing is going, then nod your head knowingly when they gripe about the fishing quotas, low catch weights, poor market conditions, etc... Then offer to buy 3lb "bug" from them and watch as they round down the weight of the lobster because they like you. Presto, you just saved $50 compared to going to the restaurant next door!
Also, the artists at the back of the pier are worth checking out too, and the view from the end is awesome. Walk your fresh meal to the end of the pier and you have a great place to eat. -

The lobster roll wasn't bad, but was somewhat pedestrian compared to some others. The downfall was that the bun was somewhat stale. That said, the sunset and views were breathtaking.

8 lobsters and 2.5 lbs of mussels for $130. I think that's a decent deal.
I have to agree with the other posts that say avoid the fish. The fish offering seems like an afterthought at this locale, but the lobsters were terrific - and tons to choose from!
The guys working there weren't the nicest, but what do you expect from guys that toil on the seas - they're fishermen, not customer service reps. Don't let their pay no care attitude scare you away from the fresh fare. -

Three and a half review for the Aquidneck Lobster Co. Very good if you're only looking for Lobsters, not much for other seafood. The lobsters seemed to be in a tank that was getting water pumped in and out which is great since I'd rather not have them sitting with their mates in a stagnant tank. You can also pick your own lobster. I did not think there was anything else I would buy from here, not a great deal nor did it look clean/fresh... almost all the mussels had broken shells the fish was not well priced....sorry did not appeal to me and I love seafood!! I did not find any live fish. Also, this is cash only..but there's a Bank of America ATM a block away. They packed the lobsters well for a 2 hour trip back to Boston; the lobster was wonderful (not the grocery store kind :)) and on that front I was very happy. Walk down to the end of the market and you have a wonderful view of the water and a small store that sells softees :)!
