Absolutely the best fish in Utah. If I was in Seattle, San Francisco or New York City I could get bigger places with more selection, but not better quality. As others have said, it's the only place to be getting fish for sushi or sashimi. Talk to them because it's not all about tuna and salmon. There are often other choices that are not as obvious. I really love the Tasmanian sea trout for sushi. My favorite guilty pleasure is the scallops. There's just nothing like just barely cooked, fresh, never frozen, scallops.

Ahhh, FISH. Buying it fresh from a real fishmonger, watching it be cut to your liking in front of you, learning about fish you've never heard of before...you may think you'd need a pinch to wake up. Nope - you're probably awake, and definitely still in Utah. And there is truly nowhere else in the state like Aquarius. That's not to say they have no competition. But let's be honest, all things equal...they have no competition.
I personally love Aquarius for their impressive options of Hawaiian fish - Opah, Ono, Mahi, Hapu'u, Opakapaka, and of course the Ahi tuna. Their choices are always astonishing. The fishmongers here are so friendly and helpful; they'll always take whatever time is necessary to educate you about the fish and how to prepare it. If you're on foot or have other destinations, they will even put your purchase on ice and hold it for you until you pick it up. If you're traveling with your purchase, they will bag it with ice to keep it cold for you. They really do go above and beyond to ensure your overall satisfaction with your purchase.
Surprisingly, Aquarius carries more fresh choices of fish and seafood than I've seen in some coastal shops. If you need sushi-grade selections, PEI mussels, soft shell crab, bay shrimp or scallops, and even seaweed salad, Aquarius can hook you up.
The inventory here is gorgeous and fresh. This is the desert state of Utah. You will not get away from here without spending some serious clams. But I'm here to tell you it's worth it, mates.
For the occasional special event, it is so nice to know that Aquarius is there with their impressive goods awaiting your visit. I've been a customer for several years. Each time I am lucky enough to land at Aquarius, all goes swimmingly.Listed in: Asian Raves, Healthy Bits, The Shopping List

On the absolutely positive side of things... They can get me more or less whatever I can imagine. Have ordered everything from tuna to uni. I've done 4 or 5 sushi nights for friends, and these boys came through solid. Fresh fish, sushi grade (nearly impossible to get in Utah) and on-time availability. Never an issue.
Honesty demands that i share the following: They are often busy... sometimes packed, and fall on the pricey side, all things considered.
I am glad they are here, and hope they stay. -

The only place for great fish in Salt Lake.
If I am going to grill salmon or make a shrimp pasta, I will get that at my local grocery store but I am going to sear it or eat it raw, this is the only place I go.
Every time I go here they have fresh hamachi, yellowtail, scallops, and salmon and I have never gotten anything here that I would trust eating as part of my homemade sushi dinners. There staff is friendly and helpful and their prices while not cheap, are reasonable given the very high quality.
As a side note, I agree with Eve about not buying non-fish items here. Head to one of the many great Asian markets for that. -

This is the only place I will go to buy my sushi fish. I love their Hamachi, it is so wonderful!
Just a warning, however, don't buy your wasabi, tamari, or nori here. It's 2-3x more expensive than the Oriental Market on 7th East. Just buy fish. -

This is the first time that we have been to this place and it is what the others say it is. Staff there are nice and helpful as well as informative about their products.
Bought some Yellow tail (Hamachi), soft shell crabs, shrimp, Thia snapper, and octopus tentacle there. Prices seemed reasonable and much better then the Asian markets for the quality and freshness of the seafood. Making homemade sushi for anniversary and got most of what I wanted from Aquarius Fish Co. missed the Sea Bass by a few hours, but have enough to make something nice. Might want call ahead if you are looking for specific seafood before you go though. Prices do go down with quantity of what you order. Will have to try different fish as they come in season and frequent this market more often when I am in SLC.
With my experience so far this is a 5 star place for Northern Utah raw seafood. Most places I have heard that serve similar are not for public purchase. -

I love Aquarius!!!! Who wouldn't all the guys there know who I am and sometimes even remember what I bought the time before and ask me how it came out. They cut the fish fresh right in front of you and are always great about explaining the different kinds of fish. They have hands down the best fish around and it never tastes nor smells fishy. We eat a lot of their shashimi grade fish for sushi and its always fantastic. Even when I get fish to cook it's always just as good as the shashimi grade is. I love the fish market and go there about once a week. I have even gotten others addicted to it too. If you try it out you will also become an Aquarius lover. This is the kind of place that makes people who hate fish finally love it.

Fish mongering 101: 1) post your prices clearly; 2) display fish country of origin; 3) display method of harvest; 4) scale your filets.

I won't buy fish anywhere else in Salt Lake (except for the prepackaged smoked salmon at Whole Foods, or wild sockeye when it's available fresh at Costco). They usually have a good selection of sushi-grade fish available, great if you're rolling your own. Also, the prices are pretty good.
I don't know what I'd do for seafood in this city if they weren't around... -

Aquarius is one of the best kept local secrets in SLC. The counter folks are passionate about good food and good fish. This place blows pretty much any fish market I've ever been to out of the water (sorry, bad pun, I know)--the best sashimi and the freshest selections from everywhere. If you haven't been to Aquarius yet, you are really missing out. SLC is no culinary capital, but you can still find sparkling gems--Aquarius is definitely one of them.
