13 reviews for Aquarius Casino Resort
i have stayed here a few times over the years, even when it was the flamingo hotel.
rooms are average but the staff is fantastic!
let me tell you all about the best bang for the buck i have ever had.
after joining the gambler's club i got a buy one get one free buffet. my husband and i go for lunch and get a real nice table by the window, which over looks the river and it's a beautiful view. we had a plan.
we each got a drink (beer and wine is included)(i am not filling up on beer so i go with wine). then we go for a plate of appetizers and another drink. then a plate of fruit, then another drink, etc., etc. after about and hour and a half we have a bunch of plates on the table and about a half dozen drinks apiece. eventually, they closed for the dinner break and the staff told us we could stay as long as we wanted we just couldn't have anymore to eat or drink.
no problem.
by the time we were done, i was sufficiently drunk and amazingly full (they have great food and really great seafood). so for $6.89 i think it was a hell of a deal.
p.s. that was before tipping the servers and bartenders. don't forget to do that!
If this is one of the better hotels/casinos in Laughlin then I can't imagine how bad the others must be.
We came here for a night after 2 nights at the Mirage in Vegas and it was a major error. The hotel was grubby and the smell of stale smoke was everywhere.
The saving grace of the hotel was that it had an Outback Steakhouse so at least we had a semi decent meal in the evening.
Even the Outlet Mall opposite the hotel was on it's knees.
All in all a pretty depressing 24 hrs in Laughlin.
Excelletn value but you can't call it new!
Signs everywhere boasted "The New Aquarius Hotel Casino". This is simply false advertising. This property was converted from what I guess is the Old Flamingo (there are still gold flamingo images on the elevator doors).
On the plus side, the redesigned guestrooms were nice and had great views of the river. On the negative side, there was no spa facility. To call yourself a resort, one would think you would have more than just a pool and tennis court.
Upon arrival, I had asked for 2 beds and to my surprise, I walk into my room and to find one king bed. After taking care of this hiccup, I settle in my new room. It's clean and spacious for a standard room. The airconditioning didn't work that well and one of the lamps were broken. I decided to bare with the inconveniences to avoid yet another trip to the front desk.
That night my friends and I Had dinner at the Windows on the River buffet which was really good for the price. The seafood selection was exceptiional with free beer and wine.
Pluses: Inexpensive, best buffet with excelent service, spacious and clean rooms.
Minuses: Not as new as advertised, no spa facility, problems with check-in, aircondition and lamp in the room.
Note to Hotel: You would probably get a higher rating if you added a spa facility.
Pros:
Hotel rooms were nice enough.
You can get a free drink while gambling.
Cons:
No bargains to be had: no drink specials, no food specials, nothing.
The dinner buffet was marginal at best, especially at $15 per person. Baked cod that was overdone and dried out; roast beef that was so overcooked it was hard to eat; salmon so overdone I literally could not pierce it with my fork; on and on. Only the catfish was okay. Food looked fine but that was as far as it goes. Even the desserts looked very attractive but had little flavor. The only plus was the two glasses of wine or beer included in the price. The service was fine.
Numerous predictable chain restaurants like Outback, Panda Express, Burger King. Has society degenerated so much that we are content with this mediocrity wherever you turn?
The other two restaurants, Italian and Steakhouse, were outrageously expensive for a casino.
Few full play video poker machines.
Summary: There are much better values to be had in Laughlin, such as the Avi Resort.
Nice ambiance, bartenders that pour heavy (YaY!), and they showed the Marquez vs. Mayweather fight for free around the entire casino (another YaY!) ... I would say this place isn't bad. That's where the 3 stars come in. But really, the non-smoking area is a joke. We chilled afterwards in their little nightclub/lunge called Splash Cabaret. It was such a bore that we headed to another casino. In comparison to the other casinos we went to that night, this place had a more updated look to it.
The Outback Steakhouse at the Aquarius was very good. A standard Outback with good hours (12 - 10 on weekdays) and attentive service. Good blooming onion there too.
Overall, the Aquarius seems like a pretty decent casino resort.
How come no one has reviewed this place!?
The Aquarius Hotel and Casino (Formerly known as The Flamingo) is one of THE best hotels and casino in Laughlin.
ROOMS:
They have updated the Casino floor and some of the rooms, which I will add are very nice and definitely worth upgrading to.
FOOD:
Burger King, Subway, Panda Express, Starbucks, Dreyers Ice Cream, Convenience story, Outback Steakhouse, Vineyard Ristorante, Aquarius Cafe (pretty good prices and good food), and a Windows on the River Buffet with floor to ceiling windows that look out to the river and canyons in the background.
BARS/LOUNGES:
There is the Splash Cabaret that usually has cover bands playing different kinds of music. There is a sports bar area with tons of TV's showing all the days events....for those who like to bet on sports, and a medium sized bar near the craps tables.
POOL/FITNESS CENTER:
The pool is conveniently located between the two towers, one is for 21+ and the other is for those with children. There is an outdoor bar to buy drinks at but there really aren't any umbrellas thus there are very few people out there in the 110 degree heat. I guess there is a fitness center but I have never used it so I can't say much about that.
SUMMER:
You will often find the casino floor crowded with a variety of people from all ages. There are the twenty to forty something year olds some with kids some not but mostly just there to ride their seadoo's during the day and gamble at night. There are the older crowds who basically hang around the casino or outlets all day and then there are the other people (some tourists...and some like me just like the free rooms that you can get with their ACE REWARDS card woohoo!) who don't really care for the seadoo thing and just want to relax.
FALL/WINTER:
This I think is the best time to go and enjoy Laughlin. The crowds are usually 30+ with a few scattered 20 somethings. There are WAY more slots and tables available and you don't have to wait for a spot. Much more relaxing I think.
*For those going with kids, there really isn't much for them to do at night so I would take some movies or videogames.
*They do have parking for those with RV's, boats, etc.
*Also, their ACE REWARDS card really pays off if you go often. You can eventually end up with free rooms and if you get enough reward money on your card, it can pay for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet or cafe.
Everyone there is always friendly and accommodating, I have yet to have a bad experience at the Aquarius.

Overall it was a good resort and casino, not too many complaints but a couple. First off I am an avid exerciser and do not like to miss a workout. When I booked the reservation I asked if they had a comprehensive workout facility. When I went down Sunday morning, I was shocked! It was one machine that was 15 years old and falling apart. There was also a treadmill about the same shape and that was it. I decided I would make the best of the situation and try to work out but it was a no go! I warmed up that was about it. I ended up jogging down the riverside. When I went down to complain to the front desk they comped of course which was nice but I feel like I wasn't heard, but what can you really say to free beer and food.
Next this casino really didn't have any nighttime entertainment, we ended up going to several other casinos at night for dinner and a show. This was a major let down for me because I am not a compulsive gambler and enjoy some good music after dinner.
Other then that the room was nice and quite comfortable and up to date. It was an okay experience and I would probably stay at the Tropicana Express next time I am in Laughlin.

Used to be the Flamingo Hilton. Some updating and this place is close to the other casinos. The non-smoking section is a joke - it is right in with the rest of the casino. The decor is kitschy. You can do better....
Nice views. Decent sized rooms. Clubs, bars, and restaurants are all included in the resort. There were also tennis courts but seeing as how it was averaging 100 degrees while I was there, I wasn't gonna try them out. Prices aren't too bad either.
my second time in lauglin we stayed here. tropicana express had no more rooms available and this to me was the next big thing. we had booked 1/1 - 1/3/09 it came out to be 109 but if i booked one more day it would be free so i did. my bf and i stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. check in was quick maybe because we got there before 12. but we still got a room right away. it was in the 4th floor though...is that a bad thing idk? so our room was one of the new remodeled rooms. king bed, a table, 2 chairs, two nightstands, flat tv ( idk if it was plasma), one dresser, a small couch looking thing, one floor lamp, two night stand lamps, iron, ironing board, dryer, the typical closet next to the door, what i liked the most was that all the lamps had extra plug-ings on the bottom to plug in your electronics.
the casino floor is pretty good though. i played a lot of video poker at the bar so i cant say much about the slots. we played at two different bars and both were good. good friendly service. the casino has 4 different bars on the floor. as for the food it does have a good selection. burger king, subway, panda express, aquarius cafe , windows buffet, vineyard italian restaurant, outback steakhouse, dryers and starbucks.
the buffet was good the first time we tried it out, it was for brunch/breakfast. next time we went it was for dinner but it wasnt so good. both times it didnt have a good selection of food but what i did get the first time it actually tasted good. the second time i didnt like it. some things were too bland.
i would recommend others to stay here and i would stay here again.

Watch Your Money $$$
Stroled into this dump from outside...two thousand degrees outside....ice cold inside... Right in the middle of the lobby...they have an actual bedroom display (bed, dressers...etc...etc..) of what your room is to look like. Are they nuts...putting this crap out here... Are we in T.J.?
Only one floor has this set up.. Do you think I got that... Noooo...I was stuck up on the top floor...where all you see are dots on the ground...that are supposed to be people.
Wanted a window that faces the river...but all of them face the worn out tennis courts..and the empty pool.
Who...in their right mind..is going to go into that hot ass pool. You can heat a pool...but...duuuh...you can't refrigerate a pool. Aaaah...forgit this...
Sooooo, I decides to play the slots... Now when you go beddie bye at night...check your earned points in a slot machine before you go to bed...
Nooooow...when you gits yo lazy butt up outta yo bed....go eat everything they offer you that is freeeeeeeeeeee. Now that you feel better on a full stomach...take your stupid ass card and put it back in the machine and check your points.......SOME POINTS HAVE DISAPPEARED.
Noooooooow ask yourself....What the hell just happened here??? I walked to the window where I got this card and they smiled when I told them what had happened... They said...well we'll give you fifty points more...or would you like a new card... Wait a minute......are you nuts....you didn't even answer my question.. Where is the manager?
A guy from the back comes out and actually explained it to me. Thanks to him...for doing that..
Now get this...you'll love this...and it will make you think twice...next time you go to any casino:
1- When you play the slots with your casino card...it will pay out points
as long as you are on a machine. If you go to eat....go to the
bathroom....go to sleep at night...the clock starts ticking against you.
In other words: Your points start dropping off...because you are no
longer on the machine.
2-If you play the tables...i.e.blackjack...roulette wheel...etc....etc..your
points card doesn't mean anything... What they are looking at
here...is not the points on your card....but rather...how much money
you are dropping on that table...
Money you win..
"DOES NOT COUNT".
The pit boss is suppossed to keep track of the money you put
down. You must continually update your dealer..when you drop down
your money for a bet..so he doesn't cheat you out of what you should
have. Make sure he notifies the pit boss...even though the pit bosses
aren't paying attention...
After finding out this...I was upset...that they took away my points....so he added another 300 points... So when I went to collect off of my card... They said I could collect on it...upon my next visit. Sooooooooo if I am gone.....won't they deduct points and it'll be dejavu all over again with this manager...
You're better off not using their stupid card...Eyes are upon you...their computers keep track of your every move and win...
I noticed..I won more without the card... By the way thanks for the $740.00 I won...when I didn't use your card.....
Service....was like talking to robots...except for the manager...
By the way they own the Stratosphere and several other casinos...that's where they took those extra 300 points from...dumb asses...I do check these things out...you know???
If you play table games you will be disappointed at the rude dealers and pit bossess. They should work as carnies at a fair. They are rude they dont pay attention to what they are doing. They have no interest in customer service. The machines are so tight, you would have to break into them with a hammer to get any money out. I have never stayed in the rooms but I hear they are ok.
