5* for bargain! One of the best bargains in NYC. $10 early bird special, with app & wine before 6:30pm. Can't beat it!!! Food is good, the bread is excellent. Dominican meets Italian in bargain land. This is on of my favs in NYC.

I'm surprised with the bad reviews!
The food isn't as bad as some say. It is basic cheap Italian. I've eaten here many times over the years and I am Italian! The soup is always tasty...the pasta fresh, well maybe not 'fresh' but it is cooked properly and the sauces flavorful. For the price what do you expect?
Service always is what it is. Not great, not bad...hate to say this but better than you get at most places in the neighborhood/uptown.
The portions are large and most of the time the bread is delicious. Good bread, in my opinion, makes the meal!
I think with a consultant or new manager, which I am, this place could be amazing! -

After living in Washington Heights for over 27 years, I've been to most of the restaurants in the area if not all. I can safely say I had the worst italian food I had in my life, I felt sick afterwards. And I've been here twice, not just once.
The service was excellent on the bright side and it's a nice little place but the food was just so meeeeeh. Definitely not going for a third time. -

Tasteless food and poor service. Although the food is inexpensive it lacks flavor. Ordered food for take out and when I got home and began to eat the chicken that was supposed to have marsala sauce barely had any and it did not taste like anything. When I called and told them they tried to fix the problem but still the food was horrible. I also got very sick after eating their food and will not be going there ever again. I really would love to support the business that are uptown but with there flavorless food and poor service who wants to waste their money on garbage. I don't know how they are still in business. Have been there several times and have ordered the salmon which is a dish in their menu and they have never had it. How is it that they have something on the menu and when you ask for it they have run out of it.

This is my favorite place, so far, in Washington Heights... Their lunch special, from noon until 4pm is the bomb... The most expensive dish during this time is the salmon... For $12 you get this most delicious warm bread with butter... Your choice of soup or salad, I personally get the Minestrone soup (delicious)... Then the entree, which is salmon, with spinach and mushrooms on top and a side of spaghetti... I go there at least once a week... The staff is great and very pleasant... Haven't figured out the decor... But I'm just looking at the food... A very pleasant dining experience...

The service is slow and everytime I go I happen to be on a bad date... so you can see the problem. But the food is edible so at least I can eat while I'm on said bad date.
But I have to wonder... is it the place that creates the bad date? Things that make you go... hmmmm...Listed in: Uptown baby!

Another star well earned, thanks to a continuously kind and courteous staff, coupled with my discovery of their "early bird dinner special":
-A complimentary glass of wine
-Soup or salad
-One of five entrees
-One of four desserts
It's $10 without dessert and $13 with dessert.
Honestly, a free sparkling white wine coupled with a fresh green salad, Penne a la Vodka, and tiramisu is a delight! A deal this fabulous will make anyone want to eat dinner early!Listed in: The Heights / Inwood. Love it.

New York, NY
I've only been in once to order take-out as Aquamarina is down the street from my apt and I didn't feel like waiting for Grubhub or giving into Popeye's that day. I'm really glad I gave it a shot!
On this particularly day the front end staff consisted of lots of young people who seemed more interested in gossiping and texting than working. So it took a while for me to be initially greeted and made for very slow service. But the girls were very nice once they got around to me. And the kitchen looked to be at the usual NYC pace to pump out food as quickly as they could.
Please note that I have no basis for comparison yet during other hours/days at the restaurant. So take that comment about the front end staff with a grain of salt.
I ordered the Seafood Lasagna. It took about 15 minutes to get my food because they made it to order (I was able to watch them since I was standing at the counter. I don't doubt the validity of the reviewer who mentions microwaved lasagna...but this was not my experience). I was starting to get annoyed at that point but QUICKLY changed my tune once I dug into this dish!
I DEVOURED this rich, creamy, thick, decadent lasagna overflowing with a dense bechamel sauce mixed with cheeses and a GENEROUS amount of scallops, REAL crab meat, and shrimp. Just know that you HAVE to like cheese/dairy to like this dish. And I recommend sharing unless you're looking to spend 1/2 a day's calories on this dish (which is WELL WORTH IT!!!).
I'd like to go back and sit by the window when I have time to spare for a nice laid back dinner date. The rest of the menu looks very interesting, the place is cute and is located at a busy intersection which makes for good people watching, and it'd be a nice way to relax when you're not in a rush. -

I went here with a big group of friends, and when we asked for more bread they brought it out eventually. The food was average, and we ended up being charged extra for the bread. The fettuccine alfredo runs about $9-10 alone, but with about 7 shrimps the price skyrockets to $16-17 so watch out for that. And apparently the restaurant can only take two or three credit cards, forced the rest of us to pay in cash. Not good for large groups at all.
If you still want to give this place a chance i'd say don't come in large groups and visit during lunch. -

Cute little place. Food was good and at a great price. The early bird special comes with a salad, entree, and a glass of wine for $10. You cant beat that! I have been here a couple of times and have liked it. Decor is alright...I like the moroccan lamps that hang over the tables. Also have a bar area. If you like Olive Garden, you will like this place. It has comparable pasta I would say.

Went with the Early Bird special. I got the grilled Salmon topped with spinach and mushrooms, served with a bowl of pasta (the sauce wasn't that good, probably out of a can, but it was edible). My wife got the Penne Al a Vodka. It all came with Soup or Salad and a glass of Wine, for $10. I was very impressed at how good the fish was grilled and thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife's pasta wasn't that bad, but wasn't the best. Went at the perfect time and had great service. I'd go back.

Decent food, great prices and ok atmosphere. Every time I go the pasta is overcooked but seasoned well enough. Most plates are under $10 so I can't complain.
Like someone else said, a good weeknight meal on a budget. -

Not too bad if you consider the price and the location. My shrimp with saffron cream sauce tasted a lot like Kraft mac and cheese sauce, but the shrimp scampi and crab cake appetizer weren't bad. Food comes in very generous servings and rather quickly. The service is very friendly (and determined to keep our water glasses as full as possible), but when it started getting busy around 9pm, it was hard to flag someone down for the bill.

If you can see past the all too aquamarine decor...even the lights are blue...it's not a bad place. But the lighting and walls and everything around you is blue...okay, I'm over the blue color (if they just changed the wall-color and the entryway curtain to any other color but blue everything would be okay...can i suggest maroon or dark red)...alright...I've regained my senses...the food was decent. This restaurant is a couple blocks from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan at about 171st St. It's decent fare and it appears that they serve an early bird menu before 6:30p and they offer lunch specials. Full bar and a minimal wine selection are also available. Maybe during the daytime the restaurant isn't so....blue. Mangia!

Service is slow for sure, as everyone as said. Food is very average...not good, but not horrid either. Won't be craving to come back anytime soon.

Very good for the price. I've paid double for worse food in Little Italy. A little slow, but staff is friendly. Real small place, good for a weeknight meal if you live in the hood. Don't think you'll find a better Italian restaurant in Manhattan for this price. Penne was $7.
