I was placed by a competitor of Apple One's at another job that I was at for three years, so I figured when I got laid off, Apple One's competitor would find me work;  not so.  For several months, I got jerked around by them until a friend told me about Apple One.  Talk about a difference between night and day!

Many of the employees that worked there while I was looking for a temp-hire job (which took them less than a couple of days for them to find, by the way) are no longer at that branch.  I worked directly with the head of the office, so there wasn't any runaround.

I am still at the job Apple One placed me with and have been there for the past four years now.  I temped for about 5 months first, but the people I worked with at Apple One really cared and saw my potential, unlike their high profile competitor on CA Street, which shall remain nameless.

I did not have anything resembling a good experience with Appleone. I have registered with Appleone in the past (in Southern California) and have found them to be professional and sincere in their efforts to find me temp or temp-to-hire work. That was not the case with this office....

The receptionist was very friendly, hence the star. However, I was only able to meet with my recruiter for a few minutes and she said that she wasn't able to disclose any available jobs to me at that time. What the wha? I don't get it. EVERY TIME that I have registered with a staffing agency, they always tell me what types of jobs that they have available and are considering me for. I have NEVER heard of that before. She actually did have some helpful tips and asked me to revise certain parts of my resume. Great. She told me to send her an email with my revised resume and she would follow up with me and send me an email link to some tests to complete. Sounds fair enough, I guess.

I revised my resume and emailed her that night and for the next two days I had nothing but tumbleweeds grace my inbox. I called Appleone to speak with my recruiter and was sent to voicemail and told to call back or send an email or whatever. Great. I finally try again the next week and I receive a surly email simply saying, "I hear that you've been trying to get in touch with me?" UH, YEAH. I sent you a revised resume and asked to be linked to take my tests and am respecting a response about those jobs that you couldn't disclose earlier.

This has been one of the most frustrating experiences at a staffing agency that I have ever had. I am still looking for work but at least the staff at The Job Shop and People Connection are professional and responsive!!

I was really happy with this agency when I registered a year ago. The recruiter was super nice and would call me to ask me if I was interested in certain jobs. But since he has left it has gone downhill. I called because my assignment which I got from another agency was ending. I met with the branch manager who said he would be sending my resume for a prospective job. When I called to inquire about it he said that the company hasn't gotten back to him yet.  I have called on several occasions yet the manager is never available to talk to me. When I finally got to speak to him he reassured me that he would contact the company that he sent my resume to and promised to call me back by the end of the day. He never called me. I called him again and he was not available. I finally gave up. I just wish that if there were no jobs that he thought I was qualified for, he would just tell me so I wouldn't waste my time calling him.

I just went in today, so this review is based solely on my experience registering with the company, we'll see what happens later on.

The one thing I really do appreciate is that they take the time to meet with you, it doesn't seem like a lot of other temp agencies are doing that right now. So I went online and made an appointment, which was fairly simple.  I was able to schedule an appointment a few days later.

I went in today and the receptionist Danielle was very friendly and cheerful.  I filled out a lot of paperwork, listened to a video orientation and answered its questionnaire.  Based on on the type of work you are looking for they have you to a general skills test.  And then I met with Marie and we discussed the revision of my resume, the aptitude tests for various computer programs and references.

Everything went well so far, but I'll have to update my review later. wish me luck!

I understand some of the other negative reviews because temp agencies are definitely hit or miss and I had similar experiences at other agencies, but Appleone really came through for me! Scratch that, my experience was amazing! I went in on a Friday for my interview and had an assignment that next Wednesday. After that assignment I had three more days the following week with the same company. My rep was great and I would recommend her to anyone.

Appleone was also the first agency to let me do the computer tests from the comfort of my own home. We all know how much it sucks to sit in a temp office for 2-3 hours on a computer doing tests, but instead my rep sent them to me through my email and I completed them on my own time. I had to do one in-office test and it was the reception assessment test that took about 5-10 minutes.

I have found that the key to these temp agencies is to do what they ask of you as quickly as possible. I made changes to my resume that I didn't think were necessary, I had all the computer tests done by the next business day after my interview and when one didn't register I quickly did it AGAIN, and I made sure to stay in close contact with my rep. I emailed her daily to let her know that I was interested and wanted work.

The other key to temp agencies is that if you can just get one assignment, I guarantee you will be assigned to another. Businesses often ask for the same people back, which is what happened in my case, and if you can prove yourself once and get good reviews from the business you temped at, then you will be trusted to go out again. Also, be as open as possible in regards to salary, location, and job.

I would still be with the temp agency, but I found a job on my own and my rep was excited for me and wished me the best of luck.

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews?  Am I the only naive person around here?  Well, I met with AppleOne sometime in October, and a week-and-a-half after I met with them, they already found me a job!  It's a great job too!  Maybe it's different because I met directly with the Branch Manager.  His name is Morez Gutierrez.  Very professional and very objective in his approach.  He set up some fairly reasonable expectations and has by far exceeded it.  He asked me a question (which I have never been asked before), he asked me that if I were the hiring manager, what qualities would I be looking for if I were to hire someone like myself!  Made me think that this person really knew what he was talking about.  I have worked with other agencies before and have always had a pleasant experience.  I didn't expect to be as pleased as I am with this company because a friend of mine did say that she has been signed up with AppleOne for almost two months now but is yet to find a job.  I guess it just depends on the job and how flexible you are?  Either way, thanks AppleOne!

A truly worthless employment agency.  Not only have they been unable to help me find  a position for the past 6 weeks (just a note: I'm highly employable), but my agent hasn't even answered my emails in 3 weeks.  To be entirely honest your better off on your own looking for a job than even taking the time to register and meet with them.  When I interviewed with them in person, my agent told me they only employ roughly 8-15% of the people that come in and interview, and take all their bullSheit tests.  My Contact, Rachel Morse hasn't answered the last 3  emails so I sent one to the company.  Still no reply.  DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.  Just use craigslist instead.  Thats how I got both my jobs now.  THE ONLY REASON THEY MEET WITH YOU AND HAVE YOU TAKE THE TIME TO REGISTER WITH THEIR COMPANY IS TO BOAST THE SIZE OF THEIR JOB POOL TO POSSIBLE EMPLOYERS LOOKING FOR TEMP WORKERS

This was such a waste of time. I sat through the Excel test, the Word test & a secretary/front office test. Each of them insulted my intelligence & ignored the fact I was human being.

I NEVER got a job from them. Apple One is aesthetically the pinnacle of what sad cubicle laden offices look like. People whose lives include phrases like "working for the weekend" & "its hump day". The only job I was offered was for something a third less than what I was asking for [which was reasonable & I got at other jobs].

They are like the big box wal*mart equivalent of temp agencies.

Skip this & save your soul.

Ok, so I'm a little iffy on appleone...so why the three stars then?

I like that I was able to make an appointment online, and they found me work that started the next day. I also like that it turned into a perm job (I should get the star for that though)

I don't like the lack of communication and the fact that I've given them my new address three times and they never got it right. My checks were sent to the old place.

With staffing agencies it's kinda hit or miss depending on the day. I got them on an okay day.

Sure, you start to feel bitter after temping for awhile...  and then you realize you've just lost sight of things and how it used to be about the art, and hey man, what's happened to you?  You take a look in the mirror and it all comes rushing back.
Your mantra:
I am on call.  I am all things to all people.  For roughly $12 an hour I organize your files, answer your 6-line phones, and make copies of paper products too large for the copy machine in constant need of new toner.  And Mr. Bossman, you won't remember me next week, 'cause I'll be oughta here with some of your pens and envelopes, but your life won't ever be quite the same again.

This place is very disorganized. Danielle the receptionist rescheduled my meeting with a recruiter three times. She kept saying that something came up, or at the date didn't work, etc. I understand things change quickly but the lack of accuracy concerned me. AppleOne is a well known name but  like most employment agencies its a hit or miss.

AppleOne's the first temp agency I've signed up with where I felt that they seriously put in the effort to find you a job--at least, from my experience--or maybe, I just got lucky.  Everyone I've interacted with at their office has been nothing but friendly and helpful.

Thank you to AppleOne for providing me with a job where I can yet again waste away time with Yelp.

Any smart person knows better than to put their future, career and livelihood in someone else's hands.  It's one thing to do a little research and sign up with a handful of reputable temp agencies as backup options for finding employment.  It's a whole other thing to sign up with an agency, then go home and fart around waiting for a phone call offering a high paying, not too boring, not too complicated, not more than 30 minutes away on muni perfect foot-in-the-door dream job opportunity.

More often than not, the large majority of candidates who register with agencies are the types of people who either can't get jobs on their own for one reason or another (they're mentally insane, they have no skills, they have no relevant work experience, they smell, they're on drugs...) or they just can't keep a job longer than 2 months, again, for one reason or another. . .

However on the flip side of the candidate pool, you have those who are deemed, "Overqualified", such as PhD holders, Philosophers, Small Business Owners,  Ivy League school graduates and Regional Managers, among others.

So imagine, when the VP of a major firm in the financial district calls up a temp agency immediately needing a skilled, experienced, well-spoken presentable professional to coordinate a 1000 attendee convention from the ground up.  The VP is looking for the agency to "magically deliver" the perfect person for the job, thus saving the VP and the firm hundreds if not thousands of dollars, not to mention oodles of time and energy.  Imagine that scenario, and all the temp agency has to offer are candidates who haven't worked in two years, candidates who have limited experience with MS Office (but they can pick up quick!), or candidates whose last career involved overseeing the productivity of all Northern California's tractor-trailer assembly centers.  Hmmm, I think not.

Reality check:  people from the aforementioned groups are probably not ideal candidates for applying to temp agencies.  In essence, the perfect candidates, prime for reaping the most profitable benefits of a temp agency are those who are already working, those who are usually contacted by a recruiter directly or referred somewhere by someone.

If you are in search of a job, no matter who you are, what you do, have done, or even dream of doing in the future....go ahead and apply to those agencies!  Put your name in, get that file active.  Do what they ask of you.  After all, it is VOLUNTARY.  No one twisted your arm to do it.   You never know, your cooperation and positive attitude may just be the key to getting your particular representative to remember you.  And if you're really nice, your rep may even share some invaluable tips with you on sprucing up your resume, strengthening your skills, making yourself stand out amongst the competition.  They do possess a wealth of that sort of knowledge, so if nothing else, take advantage of that and use it to land a job on your own.

And for whatever reason if you never get a job from an agency, never, ever take it personally.  Really, do you think these people really come to work everyday just to screw you over?  They're human just like you, and dealing with other humans just like you, so cut some slack.  They probably dread coming to work because they know they'll have to take phone calls from the same 20 people everyday saying the same thing, "Hi, I really really need to pay rent this month.  I don't have any money.  Do you have any work for me?  Anything at all, I'll take it."  Do your part to secure your future, don't ever sit around and wait for someone else to do it for you, because that's just not the sort of world we live in anymore.

They would have gotten five stars but I was a bit ticked off by their stupid training video and rescheduling. I did the online application, scheduled myself for an interview. Fine. Then they call the day before and reschedule me because they overbooked. Seriously? You do this shit over the Internet! There should be something in there to keep you from getting overbooked! Lame. And let's not even start on the video. Stuff about the company's core values, fine. But don't tell me to not lift things too heavy for me, to avoid puddles and oil spills so I don't slip and break my neck, to lift with my legs and not my back. I have common sense, thank you.

The good about AppleOne? Maybe I got lucky with my rep. She hooked me up with an interview the day after my interview with her. Woo! I'm waiting to see what happens with that.

Oh, and! She was really nice and helpful to my boyfriend who has no real work experience. She even took the time to give him advice. Volt just basically told him to go fuck himself. Brownie points for AppleOne; shit points for Volt.

Update: Since my review, I've gone on another interview set through AppleOne and she's called my boyfriend twice with temp jobs. Yay!!

So I am a new yelper and was pondering places to yelp. Suddenly Apple-One came to mind, I am ecstatic that I thought of them. Remembering my time wasting experience with them is the only thing that made made me ecstatic. BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME EVER! I was employed with the same job for 8 years, ever since I was 16 and my daughter was starting school so I needed a job with more 9 to 5 hours. I called and made an appointment. I did all their long test bull shit, was there for like 2 and a half hours. First waiting for a computer even though I made an appointment, 2nd to do their lengthy test. Then I got assigned STASHA. pSH, she sat with me 10 minutes, told me she would email me the next day with resume suggestions. Did I EVER hear from her? NO! Did I call her twice to follow up? YES Did she return my call? NO. I spent all my valuable time there and you can not even return my call. Needless to say they didnt hook me up with not even one possible temp position. Big FUCK YOU to Apple one for wasting my time and pretending like you can help people. You waste peoples time, deliver false promises and come across as something you are not. WARNING: Do not waste your time

UPDATE: Have the best job ever now, thanks to ME!

Also, the 5 stars totally seem like Apple One employees, with no identity or other reviews. PSH

haven't wrote a review in 2+ months, but I just had to get one in for AppleOne...specifically, Rachel Morse, an account exec. at their san francisco office.

for those that know me, i went through some thangs and i needed a little inbetween job, and after searching craigslist and not finding anything...i decided to search yelp and the first one that came up was AppleOne.  I'm so glad i hooked up with them.

i got an appointment to see one of their account execs about 2 days after submitting my resume online.  at my appointment i watched a video about who the company was.   after that, i went into an interview with Rachel Morse, who was very, very nice and gave me real info about what to expect from AppleOne, and not just some bs to make me hopeful, only to get crap.

the very next day, Rachel found me a little job, and now i'm happily typing this review on my last day of the assignment.

Thanks AppleOne, and mostly thanks Rachel for helping a brother out!!

Thanks a lot apple one, for COMPLETELY wasting my time by making me come down to your office to interview. oh yeah, and not findng me a job at all! not only that, but never even contacted me once regarding jobs.... and as if it gets any shitter of a service, it really seemed like they were trying to make me do all the work for them, like basically were asking me to look for my own job!! isnt that why i went to a temp agency in the first place??? cuz im having trouble finding jobs on my own?? i dont see how this place is in business, honestly.

Don't bother with this agency because they have the nerve to insult people. What is better working as a temp or working as a permanent employee? The most obvious choice is working as a permanent employee. However, the recruiter had the nerve to tell my sister that working for Appleone is BETTER then the position she found herself. What a bunch of B"shit.
Also, they lie to people. I registered with the San Mateo branch to try to get more work in and they had the nerve to tell me that they have the same jobs as the San Franciso branch. How in the world can that be when San Francisco county is different from San Mateo County. Liars and phonies.

AppleOne in SF SUCK!!!

I'm not fond of temp agencies or head hunters to start with, but these guys really suck!

I had previously registered with them in another city 3 years prior and never got any where so I forgot about it. Now in SF I understand they have a position for me and I need to sign up on line. Well I try and the system doesn't let me in. So I create a new account and... still no good. Of course they have no record of me, and of course they are annoyed and think I'm stupid... till I point out on their own web site the other account and the other tracking problems. But "there's nothing they can do". It's all handled by corporate. And they can't let you come in and do the paper work... it has to be done on line.

Needless to say the position closed, I never got a chance, and I will never use Apple One. I couldn't even if I wanted to because the stupid stem doesn't work!

I am not sure what to think about this temp agency. I was assigned a rep who after 2 months hasn't done anything for me. I have tried to call her about once a week to get updates and find out what is going on but she never takes, nor returns my calls. It seems like they don't want to help. I too sat through all of their tests and scored "really well" according to the information she gave me yet I can't seem to get a response from them.

When you sign up on-line with Appleone, you can schedule an interview.  I did this and attended the interview which lasted about 5 minutes (guess they do a lot of interviews).  During the skills testing, you sit through a video which explains, amongst other fine details,  the importance of wearing the right height of heel on your shoe and keeping jewelry "modest".  They also request that you stay in regular contact with your Account Exec.

As a successful and experienced temp with great skills (100 wpm and expert user of Microsoft Office Suite), my AE has yet to return a call.

It is frustrating and ironic, that a company who goes to so much trouble to explain in great detail what they expect from their temps, cannot extend to them the common courtesty of returning a phone call.

Yeah, I have to say....they're the best. I got a job quickly and had a great experience with all the people in the office. So, for those that wrote messed up reviews, I have to disagree.  Face it, not everyone can get a job...everyone has different skill sets and so forth...maybe they didn't have a job that was a right fit for you.

I would never use them as a temp company ever! When i first moved here..i had a few weeks before my job started. So i called and made an appointment with the appleone location to come by and see about temp work until my job started. Im new to the city and have to commute in. I had gotten on the wrong bus that morning and called an hour ahead to let them know i was on the wrong bus and would get on the right bus at the next stop but i would probably be a few minutes late. So i arrive ten minutes late and apologize. They sit me in the lobby for an hour just to come out and tell me to watch a video. Why the he** couldnt they have me watch that to begin with. I watch the video and then wait for thirty minutes. It was like they were punishing me like a small child. I was so mad. When i finally got back into the office....the girl was really unpleasant and kept rushing me out. And then told me she would email me her contact info and i never received it. I doubt i ever will.

I had a very unsatisfactory experience at Apple One. I went in for an interview with Marie, and she was very nice and seemed like she was going to be very helpful. She made a big deal about references, saying that she couldn't assign me to a job without checking all of my references (three work related, two personal). It took her over two weeks to even contact my references. My references said when they spoke with her she was kind of rude and unprofessional. Luckily, I am in good standing with all of my references...but I mean, come on! I made many attempts to get a hold of her, all unsuccessful. She just emailed me back saying that she didn't have anything for me at this time. I have never received a call from AppleOne since. I know that times are tough, and its not always easy to get a job through a temp agency...but if I spend the time to go in for an interview, take the stupid orientation course, and do the typing test...it would be nice is my so-called recruiter would call me back. The lack of communication is really frustrating. Apple One was a waste of time!! Go upstairs (same building) to Ajilon temp agency. Ask for Christina Andrade. She is really helpful and actually returns your correspondence!
