Applebee's Grill + Bar

It's an Applebees, it is what it is.

I grew up with this location so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me, many high school weekends spent getting half off apps with half my class there.

And honestly the half off apps are still a steal! When I went there last, we had a great experience except our wait to be seen was about 15 minutes, however once the order was in, food came out super fast.

This location holds a lot of good vibes and memories so I'll always frequent it once in a blue moon, but wow it needs an updating

I don't remember the date but I came here one Saturday night with my friend. We ate dinner here before going to karaoke in Bohemia. This was one of my last meals as a vegetarian. I got the spinach and artichoke dip and the cheeto's cheese balls. The cheese balls were oily, cheesy and so delicious. The spinach and artichoke dip was good, not outstanding but good. It's worth it going to any applebee's after 10 for half off apps.

First, I never thought I'd be leaving a review for Applebee's, never mind a positive review. I have not been to Applebee's in years. Whenever anyone suggests it, I would shoot them down immediately, that's how bad my experiences have been with Applebee's in the past, whether on the Island, Brooklyn, even way back at the Applebee's in Niagara Falls. They have always been consistently terrible.

It was my dad's birthday, we let him pick the spot, and it was Applebee's. We all cringed, but especially me. Under any other circumstances, I would have refused to go, that's how bad Applebee's has been for me. I figured I'd just get a burger, what's the worst that can happen.

I'll break my review down to category to keep it short and to the point.

ARRIVAL & SEATING

This did not go good, but I won't deduct a star for it. We had a party of eight and they immediately made a deal of it. The restaurant was nearly empty and they are talking about 'needing time to put a table together'. Already off to a weird start, no big deal, we waited. I would not classify this as bad, it was just weird. You can tell the staff wasn't used to it?

SERVICE

Nancy is AMAZING. She only works on Saturday so when we do go, we'll be sure it's on a Saturday, and we'll be sure to take the trip to East Islip. We likely have five Applebee's between our location and East Islip, but Nancy would be worth the trip.

FOOD

This is the shocking part, the food was amazing. I am not big into fast food or chain restaurants, but we have kids, so it happens here-and-there. Personally, Applebee's blows Texas Roadhouse and TGI Fridays out. That is assuming future visits are consistent with our experience from Saturday the 14th. It's not even close to be honest.

I will touch on a few items that I ate, not share the experience of everyone else in our group. All I can say is everyone loved their food, no one complained, it was all positive.

1. Brew Pub Pretzels & Beer Cheese Dip: Concerned because they were not very salty but they were delicious and salty. Please add Nutella to the menu as a dipping option.

2. Chicken Wonton Tacos: Once I read the menu and saw cilantro, I was sold, figured I'd give them a shot. They were delicious. Completely unexpected for Applebee's.

That covers the appetizers, this had to be a fluke?

3. Classic Bacon Cheeseburger: Everything from the burger to the bacon was delicious. It wasn't that crappy tasteless bacon that sits on a grill all day long, it was full of flavor, and delicious. The burger itself was amazing. Ever since I discovered smash burgers, I don't do regular burgers anymore, I just lost my taste for them. My burger from Applebee's was smashed, the edges were charred, and super crispy. No, they were not burnt, just to clarify. I asked Nancy if they smash the burgers and she said they normally don't, but they do have the grill for it, and they would upon request, so long as they were not that busy. She said the cook just happened to make mine that way at random. Again, it was amazing. The fries were also crispy and delicious. They were just straight-up golden and crispy, not all greasy, or overly oily.

4. Something I will comment on that I did not order, was some trio deal they had. I think it was boneless wings, crispy shrimp, and ribs? No way would the all-you-can-eat shrimp be good from Applebee's. They were fantastic. I could not stop eating them. Perfectly fried, salty - but not too salty, and the shrimp were just delicious. I am in shock, again.

Next up, dessert. We didn't go crazy, just wanted to get something to sing to my dad for his birthday.

5. Cinnabon Mini Swirls: Again, amazing. The cream cheese frosting was delicious.

6. Sizzlin' Butter Pecan Blondie: This was for my dad as his 'cake' for his birthday. I never had a 'blondie' before, I honestly had no clue what it was. It was AMAZING. I can't express how delicious it was and I only took a bite because it wasn't mine. Once he was done, his plate was left with the maple cream cheese sauce and the burnt brownie bottom. I could not stop eating it, I am not kidding. I scraped up every last bit.

That's about it. We're going to go back because I am still in shock that Applebee's was this good. Once we do, I will update my review, and I'll be sure to post some pictures.

The drinks were good and cheap. My quesadilla burger was cooked to perfection. A quick dinner out with no wait is alright with me.

Me and my wife enjoy getting out to eat. and one of the places we go is applebee's, we really like this location because of our overall experience.
sam L in my opinion is the best waitress, she serves with a smile and very attentive. Weather you need a drink refill or add to your order or anything you may need she's never away to long to take care of the customers. Friendly women so if your ever in the area and you stop in make sure you ask for Sam L.

So happy I stopped into this location! This store is unlike most applebees, the woman Abby who was helping me made my experience here like no other! She was so helpful and accommodating all while being extremely polite! Amazing customer service and the food was great!

Ryan or Brian idek what his name was, was our server today. Dude needs to find a nrw job. Man was just flat out rude, didn't give us any time to decide on what we wanted as we just sat down. Told him we needed more time, came back 4x over in the next 5 mins. We got frustrated and threw whatever off the top of our heads at him. He could not be bothered being there, was rushing a family behind us as well. Brought out the food lukewarm. As we got our entrees, he placed our check on the end of the table. I was furious because the entire time tried to rush us out. See now you no longer get a friendly version of me. I yelled excuse me, bc you know what if we wanted dessert or another drink? Disgusting terrible service, this man needs to leave this job. And as an applebees employee myself, I definitely let our area director know. I told him he needs to take it back as I get a discount. Manager comes over, little spanish girl, with an attitude. Asking me my name in a rude manner, I immediately cut her off and tell her my name and my gm as well. Walks away and returns with discounted receipt. Then I get up to use the bathrooms, I walked right back out. And I love that a main table in the dining room, is covered with their bags, backpacks, open containers, waters. Disgusting. This location is a nightmare, shut it down

Where can I possibly start?
1.) no crayons for little ones but have a menu with games u can't play ‍‍
2.) small tiny booths for Noh boob women very uncomfortable booths
3) no booster seats for over 45 minutes and there were no other customers (it was shift change/down time)
5.) We arrived at 10 after 4 pm and ate at 6:30pm! The manager said he couldn't BELIEVE IT AND WENT BACK IN HIS OFFICE TO SUPPOSEDLY CHECK THE TAPES! How insulting! Jerk why would I lie!?
6) Of course the food was ice cold and staggered coming out of the KITCHEN my husband had a nasty fatty cheap steak!
7.) The waiter said he's a vegan anyway so when I asked for veggie cheese he said let me ask and I heard ANYTHING ever again?? Hello?!?!
8.) FINALLY THE MANAGER MAKES HIS APPEARANCE , checks the tapes, And still without food for half our family... only comps 3 -$10.00 meals on a $120.00 bill!!!!
And keep in mind by this time I'm asking we still had only the kids food! Really!???
***I am calling corporate tomorrow because it's not only insulting but it was so nasty it should be free with gift cards for anywhere else!
I WANT MY MONEY BACK...gross service times, rude and nasty server, and unkind manager unwilling to really help. I really wish we could say 0 stars ! Evie out and so mad!

i asked for well done burger n boneless wings with onion rings my burger was mostly raw and the onion ring were still an original onion n my boneless wings didn't come bones n my honey mustard didn't come with honey why is it called honey mustard than this place is full of shi like literally smells like shit

This has to be the worst place ever, went in for a table of two was told that it would be 15 mins by two young ladies at the front door, while waiting started to notice some empty tables, I walked around and counted 11 empty tables ???? I thought. I saw the manager and inquired about the empty tables she stated that she was short staffed with servers so they couldn't seat everyone, and that there was a party going on and the people of the party asked for certain table not to be used so the can have privacy. My issues start there parties are nice but not fair that the can not use table in the surrounding area, also the fact that they had two girls with one iPad taking peoples numbers at the door
There another server, then there's some guy just walking around in a apple costume just telling people that it would be a little wait, there's another server. Plus maybe at a certain point the manager or asst should pick a couple of small tables and take there orders, I u deed tans being short staffed but I would have rather been seated and wait a little longer then to sit outside in a car and wait for my phone to go off. I will not recommend this place to anyone and by the stars I see it has maybe upper management should be involved
