4 reviews for Apple Tree Inn
4 of us stayed here when we couldn't get a room in Evergreen Lodge. It's really nice and not far from Mariposa Grove. Tenaya Grove is walking distance from Apple Tree Inn and you can eat there. Accommodation includes breakfast for all guests which is nice.
The rooms are very cozy with fireplace and a garden. We stayed in a 2-queen bed room on the ground floor. The best part of it was the hot jacuzzi and heated pool which was very nice after all that walking around in the park. Unfortunately, there isn't anywhere to change which we didn't know till we got there.
My husband and I decided on a last minute trip to Yosemite in Oct. We got up there late Friday afternoon. The location is gorgeous, the staff was super nice and we were right next to a larger resort (we went there for the bar and restaurants). Our room was a King size and was huge. We could dump all of our stuff and still have room to more around. It was so quaint, like we had our own little cabin in the woods. The jacuzzi was nice. Having laundry facilities was helpful too. The breakfast was okay, enough to keep up going for lunch. The one down side is that the power went out one night and they didn't have a generator.
My husband and I have stayed here three times now. The first time was for our honeymoon. We've always stayed in one of their suites which is bigger and pricier than some of their other rooms. The suites we've stayed in are the upstairs part of the cottage. They have numerous cottages that are split into 3 parts.
I liked the balcony we've had (although the traffic was visible and audible the last time, which detracts just a bit from the surroundings). They have a small fridge and microwave and coffee pot in the room. We also had a gas fireplace that was really just a visible furnace. (The ambiance of the flames were nice, but it was weird knowing it was pretty much just the furnace.) They have a hot tub and pool available year round. Our suite had 2 bedrooms, both with tvs in them.
The only drawback really for me is the wallpaper, which was floral and way too busy and frilly for my tastes.
The price is not too bad (not a Motel 6 price, but less expensive than it's neighbor, Tenaya Lodge).

Great place to stay, a bunch of little houses in a evergreen forest, right next to national park lands. We had a two room suite which is the top floor of the house, totally great, gas fireplace, private balcony, big comfy bed, gotta love it. Heated indoor pool and spa, plus racquetball (like you want to do that after hiking all day). The breakfast stinks, Costco muffins and bread, bruised fruit, weak coffee (Head to the Forks Resort on Bass Lake for a 5 dollar breakfast that will really do you right). But for 159 a night (off season) for a suite, I'd stay any time (Especially compared to the $550 a night the robber-barons at the Ahwahnee are asking to stay in their overcrowded piece of crap). Here's a tip avoid the Mariposa grove crowds (I love spending my vacation driving 2 miles an hour!) and head to the Valley of the Giants/Nelder Grove (about 8 miles south) will completely alone with the second biggest redwood in California, the Bull Buck Tree (246 feet tall and 99 feet around)
