The Apple stores are the pinnacle of the Cali cool! People come from all over just to be seen and purchase prioritary equipment/software at $$$$ prices. Cool has a price!
The staff help is great! As you can tell I am not a fan of $teve Robs or Apple. When ever I stumble in (girlfriend has a iPod) I alway confront the staff... Though nicely, about the evils of Apple. After a few shot of trying to changing my mind most wind up agreeing with me! They have also enlightened about little know secrets about Apple that I didn't know. God, I love geeks!
The Nut Shell:
Great staff, high $$$$ to belong to club, iCool
I'm not sure if this store's efficiency should be attributed to Apple, the corporation, or Apple, the local store. Maybe a little bit of both...
Regardless, I browsed around deciding what I wanted to buy for about 20 minutes. Happily enough, no one bugged me, and I think this is a nice change of pace. If I want help, I'll ask for it! Once I decided on my Shuffle, I got in line. The sales girl walked me to a computer, punched in my order, and the order was wired to their upstairs store room. Five minutes later, she processed my credit card on a portable machine, and then emailed me my receipt...NO PAPER!
This has been my favorite consumer experience to date...efficient and courteous!
I did it! Yea! I just ordered my new MacBook Air; fully loaded with the solid state drive. Goodie, goodie, goodie! I can't wait to get it!

I got i sick case for my ipod there.
Despite their small size, they are a very attentive store. I made an appointment at the genius bar and was helped upon my arrival. Don't let size fool you. However, the place is crazyyy during the holidays!

This place takes care of me everytime. I hope I don't jink it. They also gave our company in store discount. Pretty sweet. This is my favorite Apple store next to the one at Stoneridge in Pleasanton.
It's a smaller version of their store on University Ave, but it's even better! They provide the same technical help, but because they get less traffic, they seem more into helping you. Also if you're with someone who needs to wait to be helped, you can check out any of the other awesome shops at Stanford Shopping Center! Brilliant location? I think so.

** UPDATE 9-18-07 **
Umm my battery life SUX.
Took it to the genius bar and they recommended
a) check email less often
b) turn BlueTooth off
Genius bar = "Retard Bar"
This issue is mushrooming. My iPhone dies by 1:50pm after use beginning @ 6:45am
** UPDATE 8-1-07 **
My iPhone is gay. What do I do.
It calls up random guys from my call log (which I can't selectively erase). Then it leaves a vm cuz the phone stays "on" in my pocket.
Why won't it call my gf? Why won't it call women? I know why. It's gay
My friend owns gay jeans. I have a gay phone.
** UPDATE 7-10-07 **
Have another new phone in box and another 20 days to return my current phone... what to do?
** UPDATE 7-10-07 **

ieewie gross, makes me wanna go buy a Dell Laptop and use it at Coupa Cafe...http://www.yelp.com/bi...
** UPDATE 7-9-07 **
Apple Employee Response to : "I can't pick an iTune for my ring tone" is that they're doing a possible software upgrade later to allow for this functionality.
** UPDATE 7-3-07 **
I can't pick an iTune for my ring tone.
And I can't download a ring tone. Weird!
This phone is like my ex gf. Its pretty. easy to use and looks GREAT at 200', 10' and even 12". But when you're holding her, you can't help but think, ok, I like the maps function but...
- wouldn't external AV output be good,
- GPS guestimate of location,
- wouldn't a memory stick add-on be good,
- wouldn't a landscape keyboard be better. Hmmm...
** UPDATE 6-30-07 **
Bought one online at 6pm
** UPDATE 6-27-07 **

If I were a Palo Alto bum, I'd clear $200k cash all day long. How?? I'd buy and sell leads w/3 laptops in the park, have a mobile hot dog stand that my snow bunny would patrol and sell ass to the other nerds waiting in line for an iPhone
Can someone provide the $230 seed cap?? PM me
Can someone securitize my recievables? (I will be selling on credit with 120days same as cash) chiang9@duck9.com

If anyone pokes harrasses or in any way disturbs my slumber from 1am to 7am, I am using my Maple Baseball bat from http://www.ProBats.net for a single up your middle.
Goodness, i feel horrible for cheating on my sidekick3 but if I could import Jessie's Girl from my 8-trak collection onto SK3, I wouldn't be going to Apple for x-tra nookie

My computer's harddrive blew up on me with "a fatal error" after I'm assuming the several power outtages about my new place fried its poor brains out!
Luckily I had the 3 year Apple Warranty (which I highly recommend after several years of having product damage from travel and being the former careless college student I was), so I called the 800-Apple number to schedule an appointment. They set me up with Jeff for the next evening right after work, conveniently late at night.
They acknowledged me right away, despite my being there on the second day of the iPhone release, taking away the heavy box as soon as I got pass the huge crowd up front. They told me that since I was so early, there were still two people in front. So I perched on the Genius Bar and read my book while waiting, having several boy geniuses politely fllirt and ask about my computer that was sitting in a giant Phillips flat screen box on the floor in everyone's way. They never once asked me to move out of the way, despite my taking up so much space.
Jeff helped me get set up to copy all of my music and files on a CD, showing me how to do it and then allowing me the chance to learn how to navigate the system on my own. It's all about self-sufficiency and learning with the ladies, and luckily he understood that. He managed to help three other people while my disc was being formatted and copied, checking up on me frequently while I read. He didn't charge me any service fees, took my baby in the back and told me he would call me in about a week to pick it up.
He called me two days later and it was working perfectly thanks to their team.
I went back and bought a Nano the next week. Don't even bother with the bigger store in downtown Palo Alto. You can just shop while they work wonders.

This is a store specifically featuring/concentrating on iPods. It's smaller but with good selection. The help here moved over from the Palo Alto store largely, and in my opinion they're some of the best. They helped me several times with iPod issues, and were able to point me in the right direction for answers to my computer questions as well. These guys are top notch.

Wonderful store, I always stop in when we go to the Stanford Mall. I only wish Fresno had such a great Apple store...we have NONE in Fresno. Makes me so sad as I love MACs and would prefer to use no other computer. Unfortunately, my husband and my school district don't think like I do so I have these dreaded PCs to deal with. Every chance I get, I stop in an Apple store and drool over the machines. The staff is wonderful, the service is wonderful.
I knew my iPod was dead. The staff treated my grief gently and told me about the 10% discount on a replacement when I turned in my old one for recycling. The also helped me find an accessory I'd been looking for.
The coolest thing though was that I asked an offhand question about a problem I'd had on my home computer (Mac Mini) and they came up with the right questions (is it an Intel iMac) and the right suggestion (patch on the software maker's website). I went home, tried it, and it worked.
I typically want to kiss the staff here every time I walk into the store. I have sworn off the store on University Ave (even with an appointment I always wait FOREVER for service), so it makes me happy to walk right in and be helped almost immediately. The genuis was so friendly (and less stressed than the one at the store on University) and was even comforting when he could tell I was sad to have to let go of my computer for a few days. Much less well-stocked and much smaller than the other store (not really for browsing), but the place to go if you actually want to talk to someone.

I'm writing this review after my hellish wait in the apple store in Palo Alto.
We arrived around 6:50, when we walked in we were immediately asked if we needed help. My girlfriend replied that we most definitely did and proceeded to show the sales associate the issue. I frayed power supply for a mac book pro. Easy stuff right? The sales associate proceeded to the back to look for a replacement, and after a minute or so he came back and told us they were out of stock. My gf had already made an appt online which was set for 7:15, good thing we showed up early! There were 5 sales associates and 2 "geniuses". We were quizzed if we had an appt, and we responded "yep made one this morning".. "hmmm I dont seem to see your name in the system."
After waiting, and waiting, and waiting on another apple customer who needed to exchange his iphone finally it was our turn. The time was around 7:20 we were finally being served.. mind you this is for a faulty power cord that had frayed. She then quizzed us on the serial number for the mac book?.. Nope didnt have it with us and the person on the phone didnt say to bring it in either.. Ok mistakes can happen.. We were told that "whoever talked to you didnt give you the right information.. I'm sorry".. twice.. Fine.. look up the name and get the serial number, or better yet just replace the damn power cord! This should not take 45 minutes, am I at Frys all of a sudden? It took her about 10 minutes to find the serial number. Then we were asked "how many apple products do you have in your house"..seriously.. WHO CARES!! just replace the part.. "I found it, how many MAC Book Pro's do you have in the house".. WHO CARES!!! just replace the faulty unit. then were told the warranty had expired.. FIne... we'll take a new one, or order one.. We were explained the warranty process of a new product, 1 year.. blah blah blah.. 90 days blah blah blah..After this we were quizzed on how we were removing the power cord from the laptop, were we just yanking it from the cord. How this wasnt good, and that the cord gets hot and yanking the cord will cause problems. Come on!!! Are you kidding me? FIrst of all its a magnet, and the cord is meant to be tripped on and there should not be any damage. Secondly if you are warning me of a problem with the cord fraying when heating up.. It sounds like you have a class action suit on your hands.
Anyways.. I could go on.. with more examples of the incompetence of this certain "Genius".. E... but Ill stop.. Not to mention she talked to us and everyone she seemed to help as a 5 year old. Thanks for wasting our time tonight to return something as simple as a powercord.
My advice, get a new Genius, or get the guys on the floor to help out the customers, they are so focused on selling that they couldnt can care less about the customers waiting for service. ..
One star, for the number of fingers Im holding up

I agree with Jessy A.'s review on here. This store is much smaller than others (like on Burlingame Avenue) and sells fewer items, such as software and accessories, but this is a great Apple store to visit if you need repairs or advice. They're organized and reassuring and prompt. One employee told me it might be a few days before they were able to fix my iMac's "logic board" (whatever the fuck that is) and I left all sad and hopeless. But alas! I received a phone call *that evening* with a cheery voice saying they replaced the part and ran a check it was healthy and back to its normal self again, so I was able to pick it up the very next day. I definitely found this location to be efficient and a good place to go for repairs/service and even just questions about your iPod. Go to the larger stores for purchases, but if you need to return them and want an employee to help you promptly and kindly, go to the Stanford store!
See my review for the San Francisco store.
I don't like talking about computers, I don't like reading about computers, I don't even know how my computer works and I'm scared to learn. I don't want to hear about Bill Gates' life at a dinner party, that's just sad. So that's what you're dealing with here.
But I can walk into this store and some 19-year-old will be like, "No problem! Let me show you how this works. Am I going too fast? I'll write it down for you, to look at later. Don't worry, we get a lot of questions like that." Now I have my laptop and my iPod and my digital camera, and full-on customer support. Yippee! I'm downloading as we speak!
