Ah. It's cool to know people.  People who can get you into exclusive places... Like inside Apple HQ.

First of all, it is just another office building / campus, so what's the big deal?  Well, it IS Apple.  It's a tourist attraction in its own rights.  You see people taking pictures.  AND you need to have someone from Apple to sign you in.  So technically, you can't really get in unless you know someone, right?  BUT, they have a gift shop.  So, it's a gift shop for a place that you cannot get in.  I find it somewhat funny.  (But yes, the gift shop is also for employees.)

Anyway, if you do manage to make it in, or if you work there, they have an amazing cafe.  The freshly made and baked Cali-style pizza is oh so very yummy.  Fresh sandwiches, fresh sushi, fresh seafood, fresh everything.  Desserts.  Vegan.  Salad.  BBQ.  They have it all.  What do you want?  Now, I used to think of my office cafeteria to be something of totally awesome with its selection and price.  But I think I may have to submit that Apple does do everything better...

Everything is fresh and organic.  Everything is recyclable.  Prices can't be beat.  You also get free drinks and free apples.  Haha, cute, free apples at Apple.

The only downside... Once you've worked there and eat there, you may not be able to work elsewhere and eat elsewhere ever again.  Good thing Apple is not going to have a layoff anytime soon ;)

Okay, maybe I'm grading on a curve for a corporate cafeteria, but these guys have everything I would want for a daily lunch option:

    - great salad bar, with fresh ingredients (not stuff that safeway was ready to throw out a few days ago), plenty of variety, and most importantly, healthy protein options, like edamame and other beans
    - good daily special options, like sea bass and other fish that changes each time
    - soda selection is solid
    - this is a bit dangerous for your waistline, but the outside pizza oven and fresh pizzas is a great touch!

    YUM!
The selection of food is amazing! I've been to a couple corporate cafeterias, and Caffe Macs is definitely up there. I come in here ever so often, and was back in there today, and it keeps exceeding my expectations.

I'm a sucker for the salad bar, something about it keeps me coming back for more. It's probably the great ingredients, or the fact that they are always so fresh and stocked up.

    Pros:
-price, you can get a HUGE salad (a salad that will last me 2 days) for $6, you can also get a huge pizza for $6 as well
-choice, there are so many stations to choose from
    -cleanliness

    Cons:
    NONE.

Cool, trendy selection but was not impressed with the taste and quality. Think of it as better tasting frozen dinners.

The burger was nasty. Meat was gamey and was in dire need of salt. The bacon was weird. Fries were good.

    I also like the water.

Finally got a chance to eat lunch here! So jealous... wish I worked at Apple. They pretty much have almost everything, from Asian and Mexican food, to pizza and texas BBQ. Amazing!

I had a quesadilla, right next to where the burritos are located. Actually, quite delicious! And for dessert, I tried both vanilla gelato and the most bottom right one, I think some sort of chocolate or coffee. Both excellent!

Supposedly Adobe, Apple and Google vied for the having the best chefs in all of Silicon Valley. Apple claimed victory when they hired them all from Adobe and Google.

    GOOD:
A huge variety from burgers, to salad, to sushi, to desserts. Plenty of place to sit. Prices are very reasonable.

    BAD:
It gets crowded at 12. Very crowded.

    FAV:
    Sushi & Gelato

I'm officially an advocate that every company should have a place like this and contain the fulllest varieties of accommodations at the salad bar.  If you love salad, you woulda liked it here.  If you have salads, you woulda thought twice about it after visiting this.  Everything was so fresh and nicely displayed that it almost became difficult to not want to eat a salad.

But for those that know me well....i'm not a salad person.  In fact I had to compliment my food with an ahi sandwich cooked medium rare to balance out all that green.  Still a healthy choice (which seems to be the theme here) and all at great prices.  I definitely enjoyed the meal and will continue to convince my current employer to model after this establishment.

    Wish me luck.

OK, so I was up at the Mothership for an interview. As Theresa T. said... be jealous!

The cafe has like everything you could want... I mean food-wise. Well, I guess you could find a hottie there too, but you know what I mean. I tried the sushi and it was tres yummy. The place definitely rivals a swanky Vegas buffet.

If you have the chance to eat there, I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Oh and for those wondering what happened with my interview... well, of the five groups of people I interviewed with, half loved me and the other half not so much. I'm still in San Diego so you can find me making fun apps at Undaunted Apps!

shoooot....can I work at Apple? Talk about treating your employees well, Caffe Macs is the on-campus "cafeteria" for Apple employees and who would want or need to go out for lunch when you have a smorgasbord of lunch choices at your finger tips.

I love how they promote healthy eating here - the salad bar had everything you could ever want to put in a salad and it was all ORGANIC. They also had Asian rice bowls, wraps, sandwiches, a freakin' BBQ going on outside. The first time you come here, expect to stand and stare in overwhelming awe. Plus it's great quality food for cheap prices.

I also grabbed a "agua fresa" (?) / fresh watermelon juice for $1!!

If you don't work here but get invited to lunch, guests are welcome but be warned that parking is a b*tch with their tiny "guest parking".

Be jealous, I had lunch at Caffe Mac.

But seriously, Caffe Mac is/should be the model cafeteria for any institution. I was overwhelmed when I stepped in -- it looked like a gourmet buffet! An amazing and wide selection of foods to satisfy your craving -- vegetarian & vegan, BBQ, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, gelato, the list goes on.

Can't expect anything less from Apple. :)

The food at Caffe Macs is great, they have a wide range of choices: burritos, sushis, salad bar, Asian food, etc. And the menu changes every day. In addition, the food is organic.
I almost always go for the fish specialties at the Pacific Rim station, it is always delicious.

I ate here during my training for when I was newly hired and unfortunately have not been back since I do not work on the corporate campus. Luckily my badge does get me in so I should go back sometime soon and go eat there more often!

They have a lovely selection of food from a variety of different countries and so many different choices you can choose from. They have made to order wood-fired pizza with had stretched dough that seemed to be one of the most popular choice since the line was extremely long at lunch time. They also had a delicious looking burrito bar as well that had a variety of different choices for meats and fillings that looked scrumptious. I also noticed a seafood station which had very fresh and large portion seafood which look liked it was extremely high quality and priced very reasonably for what you god with a starch and a vegetable with your piece of seafood as well. They also have a sushi station I believe (I didn't notice it at the time), which I hear is quite good as well.

I also noticed they had a fresh smoothie bar which looked like it had a wide variety of very fresh and delicious fresh fruits as well as a nice espresso bar for espresso beverages such as lattes, mocha's, and macchiato's or just a simple espresso.

Unfortunately, at that time i was unable to eat many different foods and had to stick to a very particular diet.

I opted for the soup and salad bar and enjoyed a cup of vegan miso soup which was extremely good. I had a small container of salad which i topped with fresh mozzarella and tomato balls, chopped chicken, fresh edamame, fresh red peppers, and some oil and vinegar. Everything was super fresh and so delicious.

They had a wide variety of deserts and beverages but I opted for the water infused with fresh fruits such as strawberries, lemons and melons that is complementary.

I wish that I could eat here ever day as everything looked so good and they had such a huge variety of delicious looking options.

Man, I wish I had a cafeteria like this when I was in college, or at any of my jobs!

I had lunch here this Wednesday for the first time as a guest of the boy :)  As many reviews have stated this is not open to the public, you need to be an employee or know one.

This place was still pretty packed close to 1 PM.  We walked around checking out all the offerings.  I was pretty impressed by the variety and selections, plus everything is organic.  And the burritos are HUGE!  OMG!  I didn't get one but it literally is the size of my forearm.  Holy cow!  I finally settled on a fish dish with mashed potatoes and veggies.  It was pretty good!  I'm pretty picky when it comes to seafood and this was good (not awesome) but good.  The mashed potatoes were awesome!  Really anyone who eats here can tell its a nice cafeteria and their lucky for it!  I opted for the fruit infused water as my beverage, which was free.  I think my meal was about $8 (the boy used his badge to pay), which might be a bit high for a lunch, but I could easily get the same meal at a real restaurant for more.

If this was my cafeteria I wouldn't complain one bit.  I certainly will have no qualms about eating here again when I visit the boy for lunch in the future :)

    I Love Cafe Macs.

Even though Google has free food for their employees, the quality of food at Apple is just so much better. Also, the food is subsidized so you can get a great gourmet meal for only $5-8 bucks. Cafe Macs has their standard items you can get each day but also a surprising large number of specials each day at the different stations. There's the Outdoor BBQ, Action Station, Superfood Station, Pacific Rims Station, Vegetarian Station, Foods of America, Grill, Pasta, Sandwiches/Salads, and my favorite: Temptation Station.

Huge plus: SJ is often seen dining here. I've actually ate at the table next to you on several occasions. It's AWESOME.

The selection of food is great there and you might get the chance to see a celeb. while you eat.  I got to see Jobs, very taboo to go up to him, Ive will most likely play interference and push you away (I didn't try).

The view is great if you are outside and the weather is nice.  Can't take any pictures as that is not allowed on campus but I'm sure you can find them out there for the more daring folk.  Lots of people around and its like eating in a high end cafeteria when you eat inside.

They changed the menu somewhat. The food tastes worse than before in every single station for the same price, but they added the pasta station once or twice a week, and another pizza line to reduce the workload.

You do get sick of the food quality pretty quickly, but it is convenient to have a cafeteria at night.

Caffe Macs reminded me of a really nice college campus cafeteria. Their food is definitely affordable and they have a wide variety of options, which is always nice. I had pasta and salad. The salad was very fresh and the pasta was average. Nothing to rave about but pretty good food for VERY cheap deserves an applause.

We got lunch at Cafe Macs which was like a large dinning area and the food was set up like a buffet. I got a $4 create your sandwhich and Kin got a $6 create your pizza. My sandwich was real good cuz it had turkey, ham, pesto sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and pickles. There was this cucumber lemon mojito drink that was pretty good as well but Kin thought it smelled like cucumber too much. $1 for the drink. Overall this place was really cheap for the quality of food they had. 4/5 stars.

Working for Apple, Inc. has it's perks and one of them is Cafe Mac. Having a cafeteria this extensive and right across the street is awesome. Full salad bar, burrito bar, sandwich bar, ethnic cuisine, gelato bar, espresso bar, fresh out of the oven pizza and sweet deserts- to name a few. Everything is organic and fresh. The food can be bland, which is the biggest downfall of the place. The coolest perk about the cafe- Steve Jobs eats there on a regular basis, so running into him is pretty darn cool. Not my favorite spot for lunch, but definitely convenient on a busy day when food is the last thing on my mind.

I have a confession to make. I am not a Mac person...at all. DIE MACS DIE. Jk. I'm gonna get slaughtered for typing that here. Maybe it's because I'm used to the old ones I was forced to use in high school, oh and at UC Berkeley. I'm a PC kind of person...

That being said, Apple has got something good going on with its dining commons, Caffe Macs. The possibilities here are endless. Thank goodness this isn't an all-you-can-eat, or I would have stayed there forever, with my eyes like O.O holding a tray overloaded with food.

After scanning the different stations (pasta, burritos, salad, soup, fish tacos, Japanese, etc) I ended up grabbing a combination of cold soba and unagi with rice. I think the price was about $10. Yummy? Surprisingly so. The soba (http://static.px.yelp....) was refreshingly chewy on a warm summer day and the the unagi (http://static.px.yelp....) was of good quality. Berkeley's dining commons could learn a lot from Caffe Macs.

Oh, and for my fellow froyo lovers, they have tart froyo from Fraiche! I vow to try this at some point...I think Yelp's favorite Froyo girl should too.

PS. They have free apples--fujis, my favorite. I forgot to grab one the afternoon of my visit, AND I forgot to eat the one that Andrew C. brought me before I left for Taiwan. Looks like I'll have a rotten apple awaiting my return!

The cafe at Apple is only open to employees and guests of employees.  Indoor and outdoor seating or take your food to-go.  Here is what they offer for lunch:
    Self serve frozen yogurt
Hot entrees with sides (varies daily and usually three to choose from)
    Hamburgers and fries
    Soba
    Sushi
Wood fired pizza with whatever toppings you like
    Pasta bar
    Gelato
    Fruit smoothies
    Self serve sandwich bar
    Made to order burritos
Self serve soda fountain and free tea and coffee
Self serve salad bar and soup
    Expresso

The most popular is the made to order wood fired pizza.  A long line at that station is normal.

For a cafeteria I give it five stars for "ambience", cleanliness, organization and selection and three stars for taste for the cooked items and three stars for price.

If you like your yogurt a little on the tart side rather then sweet you'll like it here.  The chicken salad is good but it can't compare to TinaTamale's, one of the owners of La Borinquena Restaurant, chicken salad tostada.  She is known for her tamal/tamales but if she put her chicken salad tostada on the menu her new nickname would be TinaTostada. The name TinaTamale would be thrown in the heap with Puff Daddy, The Artist Formally Known as Prince and Beniffer.

Caffe Macs is awesome if one of the following is true:

    - You're a hippie, and a lunch of arugula, pine nuts, and soy sounds utterly delightful.
    - You have burgers / fries, or some other fatty foods for every meal.

All of the following must also be true:
    - You eat lunch at 12 pm, (and no later).
    - You don't mind paying $10 for something you can get for $5 at a restaurant, just for the convenience of not having to leave the campus.

If you don't meet the above criteria, you're going to be a sad panda when you come here.  They have decent specials mostly every day, but they always run out by 12:30 pm - despite the fact that they serve lunch until 2 pm!

And I'm not sure which clientele Caffe Macs is catering to.  Do they think that every Apple employee is either a hippie, or Rosie O'Donnell?  They have rabbit food, and artery clogging heart busters - but nothing in the middle.

It kills me, because I used to be an intern at Apple back in 2001, and Caffe Macs was awesome back then.  What happened over the past half decade?

If you work at Apple, it's a decent place to check out occasionally.  The grill has chicken sandwiches that are good, and the burrito station has mole that's not bad.  Maybe once a week, the pasta station will have a high protein dish that's not full of saturated fat (they love pancetta for some reason).

But after a while, you're going to get acquainted with the nearby Subway, Quiznos, House of Falafel, Baja Fresh, Panera, and other lunch spots.

I love working at Apple otherwise, Steve.  Please don't fire me. :)  iPhone & Mac OS X 4 life.

One of the most unique things about this place is that they do not have fountain soda machines so you're left with their free, delicious, fruit-infused ice water. YUM.

This place is the company cafeteria for Apple Computer, although calling it a cafeteria is not doing it justice.  A friend of mine who works for Apple invited me to lunch today and we decided to eat there.  What a layout they have!  A pasta area where the sauces change daily as well as the types of pasta noodles..  they have fresh ciabatta bread as well as foccacia that I was told was delivered daily by Il Fornaio.  Also freshly shredded italian cheeses to sprinkle on your food.

A wood-fired pizza oven where you can walk up, tell the guy what you want on it and it's in the oven and out in no time
A sushi and soba noodle station...

A hot food station that my friend says varies from day to day..looked very good but a little too heavy for lunch.

Also an enormous salad bar along with a sandwich bar area where you make your own sandwich.. it is priced by weight but heard the price per pound was really cheap.

Fresh Smoothies, gelato, frozen yogurt, regular desserts..you name it..oh and a coffee bar that is huge!

Unfortunately you can't just walk in off the street to eat there..you got to be with someone who works at Apple and they do have to get you to sign in at the receptionist desk for a badge...yes, you have to have a stinkeen badge! lol

    Oh and the prices...so cheap!

    - $5 (now $6) burritos gets you and over stuffed tortilla ball
    - $5 (now $6) gets you a wood fired pizza with anything you want on it
    - $3 (now $4) gets you a bowl of pasta with a variety of sauces
    - $0.75 (now $1) gets you a PB&J... yummmm...
    - Salads are (now $4 for a small $6 for a large) weighted, don't go crazy with those salad tongs
    - I get weak in the knees for a Soba salad (still $7 phew... )

BTW! They've started accepting Debit Cards! You can even use your badge and deduct your lunch off your paycheck! woohoo!! no more cash runs!
If you have room in your stomach, definitely try the gelato, its pretty delicious.

Let me just start by saying that I'm giving it 5 stars because its the best gosh darn CAFETERIA I've ever been to, and a pretty solid restaurant food place. I don't think it'll get much better than Caffe Macs.

I come here kind of often because my boyfriend works for apple, and I like to come down to Cupertino to visit him every once in a while for lunch. He'll take me here because its close, easy, and I'm always excited to eat at his cafeteria XD

I almost always order the special because the special is SO GOOD!! Once I had this baked tonkatsu which was great, and the other time I had this seafood crepe with this HUGE scallop on top of a bed of this plant thing (its like couscous, but a plant...? I forget the name) and OMG i frickin died and went to heaven when I ate that. But at the same time, I'm a sucker for scallops :P

I also like getting the triple-layer smoothie, which has three different smoothies in one cup, which is pretty cool. That, or I get a small cup of fruit.

It's not TOO expensive, but its not that cheap. But wow the food is good. And I give Steve Jobs props for making apple employee badges act like a credit card whenever an employee eats here. That means whenever I go here, I get treated to lunch cuz I don't have a badge! XD I guess I could pay with cash but whatever I like getting treated hahaha

I've yet to see Steve Jobs eat here, though. I'm kind of disappointed, i really want to give him a high five and tell him how much I like his products.

FYI - Caffe Macs is not open to the public, but anyone who works at Apple or are guests of someone who does can eat in there.

Apple's cafeteria has a pretty large variety of food at reasonable prices.  I work there for a few weeks every couple of months as a contractor and I eat there about once a week when I do.

Pros:  When you're working and you don't want to go far, it's a good place to go.  Their burritos and pizzas are made to order, so those are great.  I also like their smoothies - they taste just as good as Jamba Juice.  They also have daily specials in each of their cuisine booths - for about $5-6 you can get a decent meal.  A little extra can get you lots more.  Some of the stations now even offer take home service where you can order the food and it'll be ready for pick up between 4-7pm.  That's pretty nifty if you don't want to cook.

Cons:  Lines are long if you are trying to get pizza or a burrito.  And you need to be decisive - else, you'll spend forever and a day in there figuring out what to eat.  The cafeteria is pretty big, and you can lose people in there easily.

I wouldn't say yea for cafeteria food, but it's a lot better than the cafeteria at Verisign, or my own company's cafeteria.

I have now been here two times thanks to my friend who works at Apple! (you are awesome :D) I'm writing this review trying not to look to the right because his review happens to be the first one on my list and I don't want my review to be biased by reading his (or others) first!

This place really leaves an impression on your memory. My two visits were spaced just about 2 years apart, yet it was amazing how much I remembered from the last visit! Granted, things have changed a little. Most impressive was how eco-friendly everything is. All the disposable trays and utensils are biodegradable, and you have to sort out your trash into appropriate bins. This may be slightly confusing, but the principle behind it is respectable. Keep it up, Apple! LEDs in screens yeah? Tablet Mac please? Haha j/k...except not really.

The food selection is AWESOME. It's quite overwhelming in there and you just want to try everything. All the pastas looked good, and after a few indecisive moments, I went for the Bolognese pasta. A good size serving is $4, which is a pretty good deal. I had a piece of foccacia bread with it, and that was really good, very fresh. I was tempted to get this ahi tuna salad, which looked really good too. A lot of customizable orders, such as pizza, buritos, salads...could you ever get tired of this place??

Oh, and guess what...you can get free apples. ;)

On a beautiful day it's great to sit outside...the campus looks nice and green and relaxing.

Oh, can't forget the FROYO (see picture)!! It was definitely the highlight of my visit. For a scant $2, you can fill up a little bowl with as much tart frozen yogurt as you like (and chocolate too?), and a pretty good selection of fresh fruit and granolas on top of that. Apparently it's from Fraiche Yogurt too, and that has excellent ratings on Yelp.

It's nice that credit cards are accepted, and if you use cash, everything seems to be in pretty even numbers so you don't need to deal with coins!

Definitely an above average workplace cafeteria - the food is good, there is plenty of natural light, and the outdoor seating is copious.  I love the quaint touches such as the top executives' favorite lunches being free (and the free apples - too cute!).  For example, I was told my friend who brought me here that you can order a PBJ and you won't be charged for it.

There are some very interesting characters that work here, which provides for some interesting conversation while dining.  I saw a man with a very long Rip Van Winkle type beard - I'm sure he's some type of mega mensa level genius.

    Sigh...I wish I worked here!

Caffe Macs (Apple's cafeteria) is a great last-minute place to go for lunch, because there's a lot to choose from at a great price. I haven't had anything there yet that I don't like (but I've not tried everything).

It does get crowded and noisy and sometimes the lines can be long (particularly for burritos or pizza), but that should be expected of any cafeteria -- and the lines usually move fairly quickly.

I will admit, I've had better sushi, but it's still good for a quick, inexpensive "fix". ;)

My biggest wish is that they would accept credit/debit cards, or offer a meal plan... withdrawing cash from the ATM is not exactly the most convenient (though it is better than not having the ATM at all).

For the Mac Fanboys and Fangirls, yes, Steve Jobs does make the occasional appearance. :)

NOTE: I work at Apple, but I promise my review is not biased. :)

Pretty awesome food for being corporate, and I don't mean that as a sleight.  It's good food by any standard.  It's awesome food given the parameters they have to deliver it under.

If you eat at IL04 (the main cafe), definitely hit the sushi station.  I deliberately steered-clear of it for my first couple of weeks, mistakenly assuming it would be mediocre.

Wrong.  The selection is naturally more limited than you'll find at a dedicated sushi bar, but it was actually very good... and dirt cheap.

They really do try to offer a little bit of everything for everyone.  The "satellite" locations at Vallco Park and elsewhere have more limited selections... but at the *worst* the food is good; and frequently it's very good.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed by the food they turn out, day after day.  It's pretty hard to crank out one giant service daily and still offer so many options at this level of quality.  And, holy crap, at this price point?

These people are doing an amazing job.
