You know what I love about diners?  They always offer you gravy.  ...even if what you ordered doesn't seem like gravy would go with it.  Nothing annoys me more than when I'm served mashed potatoes with no gravy.  Are you nuts?  I don't care that you're saying they have garlic in them.  Mashed potatoes without gravy are "like Harold Melvin without the Blue Notes."

So, when I ordered an open-faced Virginia ham sandwich and was asked whether I wanted brown gravy on that; I paused for a second to imagine brown gravy on a ham sandwich.  I only paused for a second, though.  Then I said "Yes, please."  Apollo Diner didn't disappoint, giving me an unparalleled amount of gravy on my sandwich, which would have been pretty OK even without the gravy.

My fries were also pretty awesome.  They were about the thickness of a Wendy's French fry, but cooked a little crispier to avoid that annoying sogginess that Wendy's fries always end up with.

The service was very friendly and efficient, as well.

Probably one of the worst restaurants I've experienced.  Ordered a mossaka (or similar spelling).  Got a runny sorta shepherd's pie with mashed potatoes, eggplant, mystery meat and a strange tomato-looking sauce.  Terrible taste and texture.  My friends had lasagna.  Hint - order lasagne ONLY in restaurants specializing in Italian dishes.  Looked just like the mossaka, but the sauce actually had a mild tomato flavor.  Otherwise, couldn't tell the difference.  Had a sort of cottage cheese - hopefully ricotta - filling.  One cheese only.  Pretty dismal.
The other diners in the area - and there are a lot of them - ranged from very good to outstanding.
Oh, yeah - the waitress took our dessert order...then had to be reminded to bring it when she brought the check.  Appeared to be 'on something"...perhaps a mossaka overdose.
I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to restaurants - but his IS the exception.  Steer clear.

My brother ordered french toast and got a single piece. Our toast was cold, the eggs are weird, but the service was alright.

Nice truck stop diner. The food is very good here. Not as good as Princess Maria's Diner but very good. They have a little salad bar I enjoyed. The prices are good to. I suggest this diner for a nice lunch.
