Best sushi hands down in the Santa Clarita Valley. Very small, family run establishment. Albacore Special Roll will NEVER do you wrong. This is the place that got me in to sushi when I was little.

This is the most authentic Japanese food restaurant in SCV, other than Light and Healthy:) Most of sushi restaurant in SCV were own by Korean so I can tell the difference. My Japanese friend recommended me to try this place. This place is very small and hidden so it was kind a hard to find this place if nobody tell you where is located. They are not fancy, but the food is excellent!! I am Japanese and love Japanese food!! This place is very at home and love going there a lot!! When I cannot go to Japanese restaurant in Gardena, West Los Angeles, Torrance, I always go here:) Best sushi, donburi, ramen and udon ever in SCV!! Oh byt he way, I am Japanese and grow up in Japan. Also my parents took me to very nice restaurants when I was growing up so I know how to choose a good cusine:)

The most authentic japanese restaurant in Santa Clarita Valley, this is coming from a 4th generation Yonsei Japanese American. No mayonnaise slathered, hot sauce drenched Godzilla "sushi" rolls. This is 1 of 2 Japanese owned and run sushi places (the other being Light and Healthy in Newhall.) All other Sushi restaurants in the SCV are KOREAN, yes the Other other Asian, who did NOT invent sushi. So if you feel a hankering for Oyaku donburi or good Saba, come to tiny warm place where the waitress is also the cook and the sushi chef always smiles!

They have a roll called the Oh My God roll. And OMG it is amazing!
I was told this place was pretty good. So I'm glad I went. Wish it was in a better spot of town instead of by a dive bar with drunks outside, but the food makes up for it. The fish is really fresh and for the location that is a wonderful treat.
I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. -

Small place, kept driving past it. But this place has the best sushi I have ever eaten. It may seem a little pricey at first glance, but the quality of sushi is definitely worth it.

WOW talk about stumbling upon a hidden gem of a sushi spot out here in SCV... My hubby and I are huge sushi fans and this place has got to be one of the best out here in SCV where most sushi spots are a disappointment.
We had 4 different speciality rolls:
Red Dragon (spicy tuna/ tuna galore and it was GOOD),
Black Dragon (Cali roll w/ avocado/ eel top),
Spicy Salmon,
I think Sexy Lady (Shrimp tempura, asparagus, cream cheese, salmon on top) or something like that listed on the wall not on menu. This one was my FAVE and unique and interesting take on the typcial Philly roll.
This will be our new spot to curb those sushi cravings without having to drive out of SCV :)
Update: Came here again and yup still just as tasty :) This time we had Sexy Dancer (not lady), Spicy Salmon, 911 roll, and Ichiban roll and YUM! -

Great fresh sushi served by some of the warmest people I've ever met. Also, they serve utterly the best most perfect teriyaki beef bowl around.

Tucked away in the middle of an unmarked strip mall is this gem of a sushi restaurant. Good fish is hard to find here in Santa Clarita, so this makes it that much better.
As you enter this fine establishment, you are greeted with a warm welcome by the sushi chef. He will hand you a menu and just starting chatting with you. The restaurant is normally pretty empty. I have never been there where there is more than another couple eating sushi. Most people will be surprised at the sushi. This is not your typical all you can eat sushi. The sushi is prepared with perfect amount of rice, which is not smashed into a ball, and the right amount of fish.
The only draw back to this place is that it is tucked away in the back of Canyon Country. I will still make the drive out to this great little sushi shop. -

Aomori...the hidden sushi gem of Canyon Country. I have driven by the place more times than I can ever think of. Yet, I have never mustered up the guts to walk through the door and park myself at the sushi bar. Sadly, it all relies on location. Aomori is located in a very small strip mall next to The Drifters(a local slop house). Club Ted(an even sloppier drinking establishment) used to take up that space. My buddy and I finally cave in a few nights ago and gave it a shot, and let me tell you, we are glad we did.
Quality of fish: For the town that Aomori is located in, the quality of fish is very high. I started off with albacore sushi, as I always do with any new sushi bar I try. The albacore had a very buttery texture and was among the best that I have ever tasted.
Rolls: I gave in to the old standard and ordered a rainbow roll. I did this so I could get a sample of most of the fish offerings by paying the least amount of money. Salmon, tuna, shrimp, white fish, every bite was very delicious. My buddy ordered the house special roll, which sadly I do not remember much of. This was the only thing that I tried that was not that great.
Service: The service was very good as well. One sushi chef and two waitresses. Did not have to wait even a minute for a drink refill or for anything else that we needed.
Lesson learned: Try new places that seem interesting to you, even if they are next to bottom of the barrel establishments. -

This is THE BEST sushi in all of Southern California. Im from San Francisco and have eaten and worked at some of the best Japanese/Sushi places there and this is as close as it comes to real sushi! The disgusting rolls and fish served at other local area Sushi places cannot hold a candle to this place. This is the real deal and they are so nice and friendly. It is small and sometimes tough to get a seat but its completely worth any wait you may have. Dont be fooled by the outside looks of the place! We searched for 5 years for the best place and who knew, it was right down the road from us. We are VERY PICKY!! This is the best! I wish I could give them more stars!!

Santa Clarita, CA
in my never ending search for quality dead fish in the SCV, i trekked out to Aomori on Friday to sample me some Yelp!-i-fied sushi...
i really, really, wanted to like the place... grungy and small like many of the mom & pop places in South Bay with maybe, a 10 seat bar in the back, and some smaller table settings as you walk in.
i took my seat at the bar and told the chef it was my first time here, feed me what he wants. i proceeded to chow down through a couple servings of nigiri, a hand roll and a special appetizer he put together. all in all i cant complain, it was good, and i was pleasantly surprised.
but herein lies the problem... i'm not dying to go back and try it again. the preparation was just what i had hoped for... simplistic and clean, letting the basic elements of fish and rice speak loud and clear. but for what i had, and what i paid, even for the SCV, it wasnt worth it.
let me say it again... the sushi was good. not great, good. and for 6 orders of nigiri (2 pieces each), a handroll, the appetizer, and 1 large Kirin Lite the bill was $48. ouch. really? i guess that's the tariff for finding sushi in Santa Clarita... a good $10 more than 4-5 star sushi found in LA.
oh well... the search continues.... -

it's a nice little sushi shop hidden in a small strip mall with no distinct labels. so go ahead and drive right on by, don't crowd my little gem!
they have your typical nice little counter where you can watch the sushi chef prepare your rolls. the fish is pleasantly fresh, but the best part is the rice: perfectly seasoned, and not smashed to hell like a ball of mochi under a deli-sliced piece of fish. their rolls are clever combinations of everyone's favorites like spicy tuna, shrimp tempura and special sauce. be warned - their spicy tuna is pretty spicy!
we lucked out and got spanish mackerel, which is a lot less fishier than his more common cousin.
the prices are pretty good too - you won't leave feeling like you just got robbed. we ordered quite a bit and landed at just about $50. you can't beat the service here, and you don't have to drive all the way out to Little Tokyo to get your sushi fix. what's not to love? -

Canyon Country, CA
Just came from there for the first time, rolls are a bit pricey. Great variety and really good spicy tuna! Hidden next to a barbershop & liquor store. Small intimate setting, the best sushi I've had so far in the Canyon Country area.
Upgraded my rating 5 stars! -

Aomori is a city in Northern Japan. Santa Clarita is north of some other places. Coincidence? yes. But the sushi - impressive. This tiny little sushi restaurant, right next to local hot spot "Club Ted", is the best sushi experience in Santa Clarita. Looking past the standard japanese restaurant decor like the fake fish tank, you find killer rolls and fish that consistently delivers high quality. They serve some mundane stuff and some delicious and unique house specialties to families, couples on dates and sushi aficionados (by which i mean myself, natch). The centerpiece of your visit here should be the rice crispy salad, a combination of spring mix and tuna with rice squares that are fried on the outside, and a spicy dressing. YUMM-O. The other night we ordered sashimi which proved to be amazing, particularly the yellowtail and the red snapper. The red dragon roll, which is is all spicy tuna is really good and the uni has always been solid. Their spicy tuna is flavorful and can easily be put in a handroll with no rice. The only problem is the crab, which we had once in a spider roll, and it was disappointing. The clincher, however, is the service. This place is run by a husand and wife (awwww) where the former is the sushi chef and the latter the waitress. They are friendly and hospitable and your drink will never go unrefilled and your requests will be quickly answered. It is small though, and it gets easily packed but there has never been a wait, unlike Love Sushi which pales in comparison anyway.
